Myra Elizabeth Wilkes
1937-2004
YUMA - Mrs. Myra Elizabeth Wilkes, 67, passed away on Tuesday, March 30 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, April 3 at 1:00 p.m. at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Robert Simmons officiating. Interment icon followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Wilkes was born February 26, 1937 in Yuma to the late Commodore and Elva Gooch Enochs. She was a waitress for Steins Restaurant and occasionally attended the Clarksburg Missionary Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by one son, Mark Wilkes.
Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Herald of Warrior, Alabama; two sons, Jim Wilkes and Miles Wilkes, both of Yuma; two sisters, Linda Hester of Hermitage and Charlene Carter of Yuma; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Howard Daniel Sanford
1921-2004
HUNTINGDON - Mr. Howard Daniel Sanford, 82, died on Monday, February 2 at his home. Graveside funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, February 3 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hampton cemetery. Mr. Sanford was born December 23, 1921 in Montgomery to the late T.E. and Bonnie Graves Sanford. He was a self-employed paint contractor. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Earl Sanford; a grandson, Jeff Clenney and a great-granddaughter, Samantha Lazna. Survivors include his wife, Mary Thurbush Sanford; three daughters, Doris Russell of Parsons, Linda Killabren of Milan and Kathryn Haynes of Huntingdon; two sons, Edward 'Hobo' Sanford and Glen Sanford, both of Huntingdon; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Dilday Funeral Home was in
charge of the arrangements.

Ellie Hugh Steele
1928-2004
GLEASON - Ellie Hugh Steele, 75, of Gleason, died Thursday, February 5 at Regional Hospital in Jackson. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 7, at 2:00 p.m., at Gleason First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mike Jef fers officiating. Burial followed in Hopewell cemetery. Mr. Steele was an auto parts salesman and a member of Gleason First United Methodist Church. He was born November 13, 1928, in Gleason to the late Willie Claude and Vernie Mable Phelps Steele. In addition to his parents, Mr. Steele was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Bell Steele; a brother, Joe Steele; and a grandson, Derek Hagler. Survivors include a son, Stan Steele of McKenzie; four daughters, Debbie Hagler of Gleason, Becky Lowrance of Gleason, Amy Orr of Gleason, and Beth Steele of Nashville; a brother, Richard Steele of Paris; a sister, Martha Sanders of Gleason; and seven grandchildren.

Dr. O.C. Wells, Jr.
1916-2004
McKENZIE - Services for Dr. O.C. Wells, Jr., 88, were at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 8 at First Baptist Church in McKenzie with Brother John Adams and Brother Dennis Trull officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet cemetery. Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Dr. Wells, retired optometrist for Wells Eye Clinic in McKenzie, died Thursday, February 5 at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Dr. Wells was born January 10, 1916 in Murray, Kentucky to the late Marletta Oliver and Orvis Clulon Wells, Sr. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in McKenzie, a World War II naval veteran, a member of the McKenzie Rotary Club, and was a Paul Harris Recipient. He had served on the Board of Trustees of Bethel College, the Board of Trustees at Union University and had served as a member of the McKenzie Special School District School Board. Dr. Wells was a past president of the Tennessee Optometry Association the NW Tennessee Optometry Association and the Tennessee Academy of Optometry. He was a lifetime member of the Tennessee Optometry Association and the American Optometry Association. Survivors include his daughter, Mary Lynn Bersey and brother, Fred Milton Wells, both of Jackson; and a sister, Martha Nelle Wright of Lone Oak, Kentucky. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death his wife, Charlotte Jean Wells. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the O.C. and Charlotte Wells Scholarship Fund at Bethel College.

E.B. 'Buzz' Tanner
1921-2004
UNION CITY - Funeral services for Emerson Beck 'Buzz' Tanner, father of U.S. Congressman John Tanner of Union City, were at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 10 at White-Ransom Funeral Home in Union City with Bishop Richard L. Saunders and the Rev. Tom Murdock officiating. Burial was in Eastview cemetery in Union City.
Tanner, 82, died Thursday, April 8 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
His wife, Carolyn Hubbard Tanner survives. They were married on September 5, 1998. His first wife, Edith Sumners Tanner, preceded him in death after 54 years of marriage.
Born June 17, 1921 in Obion County, he was the son of the late Walker and Dorothy Beck Tanner. He was a World War II army veteran. He worked at Union City Insurance Agency and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Fulton, Kentucky.
Additional survivors include two other sons, Dr. Robert Ty Tanner of Waynesboro and Rodger Tanner of Union City; two stepdaughters, Liz Upshaw of Houston and Margaret Neese of Union City; one brother, Bill Tanner of Union City; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

Lena Mae Perritt
1921-2004
BRUCETON - Mrs. Lena Mae Perritt, 83, died Monday, April 5 at the Life Care Center in Bruceton. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, April 7 at 10:00 a.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Scott Carter officiating. Interment icon followed in the Shiloh cemetery in McKenzie.
Mrs. Perritt was born February 5, 1921 in Carroll County to the late Gabe and Vera Davis Williams. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gabe Perritt.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Maxie Neely of Huntingdon. www.dilday.com

Annie Marie Reynolds
1915-2004
McKENZIE - Mrs. Annie Marie Reynolds, 88, died Friday, April 9 at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 12 in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Clint Ezell officiating. Interment icon followed in Shiloh cemetery in McKenzie.
Mrs. Reynolds was born September 20, 1915 to the late Issac and Rosa Lena Britt Vancleave. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Reynolds, three sons, William Isaac Reynolds, Charles Reynolds and Tommy Blake Reynolds; two grandchildren, Howard Reynolds and Kathy Reynolds; three sisters, Lura Bouldin, Irene Chandler and Verna Wilson.
Survivors include two daughters, Anita Boulais of Fairborn, Ohio and Karen Heisterkamp of West Linn, Oregon; one sister, Roberta Moore of Little Rock, Arkansas; one brother-in-law George Wilson of McKenzie, ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. www.dilday.com

Ralph Edward Walker
1927-2005
McKENZIE - Services for Ralph Edward Walker, 77, were conducted Saturday, July 23, at 11:00 a.m., at the Cedar Avenue Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home with Bro. Dennis Trull officiating. Interment icon followed at Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mr. Walker, retired from the National Guard, died Tuesday, July 19, at his home.
He was born in Yuma on July 24, 1927, to the late Dennis and Bertha Belew Walker. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in McKenzie.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Francis Walker; one son, Johnny Walker of McKenzie; one brother, Jack Walker of Memphis; and one grandson, Todd Walker of Memphis.

Barbara Gail Sutton
1943-2005
CEDAR GROVE - Services for Barbara Gail Sutton, 62, were conducted Saturday, July 23, at 2:00 p.m., at Brummitt Funeral Home in Trezevant. Interment icon followed in the Obion Chapel cemetery in the Terry Community.
Mrs. Sutton, a retired health care worker, died Tuesday, July 19, at Life Care Center of Bruceton.
She was born May 1, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Ole G. Davis and Ruth Merritt Davis.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Ray Sutton, and one sister, Martha Cockerell of Kansas City, Missouri.

Laura Mae Adams
1922-2005
HUNTINGDON - Services for Laura Mae Adams, 82, were conducted Thursday, July 21, at the Clark Street Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Bruce Rogers officiating. Interment icon followed in the Humbles cemetery.
Mrs. Adams died Sunday morning, July 17.
She was born in Carroll County on November 14, 1922, to the late Clarence and Gethris Hawkins Johnson. She was an active member of the Clark Street Missionary Baptist Church, serving as president of the Usher Board, in the Senior Choir and Pastor Aids Society, and was a member of the Mother's Board.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Obie Adams, who preceded her in death in 1991; one son, Manuel O. Adams, Jr.; one grandson, Eric Deshaun Taylor; and six sisters.
Survivors include six daughters, Linda Faye Hampton, Katherine Adams, Frances Marie Adams, Sherron Taylor, Palma Adams and Mavis Keith, all of Huntingdon; three sons, Herbert Bruce Adams of Lexington and Marvin Adams and Andra Adams, both of Huntingdon; one sister, Vivian Esther Gurley of South Fulton; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Novella Fowler Foster
1923-2005
BRUCETON - Services for Novella Fowler Foster, 81, were conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 20, at the Marlboro Church of Christ, with Rev. Joe Abbott officiating. Interment icon followed in the New Hope cemetery near Vale.
Mrs. Foster, a retired seamstress for Henry I. Siegel, died at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon Monday, July 18.
She was born October 6, 1923, in Calloway County, Kentucky, to the late Joe and Allie Merrill Fowler. She was a member of the Marlboro Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Dale Foster, and a son, Roger Foster.
Survivors include Betty Foster of Bruceton and Linda Brumley of Jackson; one sister, Dorothy Carver of Bruceton; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Bruceton Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Bonnie R. Davis
1932-2005
COTTAGE GR0VE: Services for Bonnie R. Davis, 72, were conducted in the McEvoy Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 24, with Dr. Gary S. Collier, Bro. Bennie Akers, and Mike Wimberley officiating. Interment icon followed in the Olive Branch cemetery in Cottage Grove.
Mrs. Davis, a homemaker, died Thursday, July 21, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
She was born December 24, 1932, in the Osage area of Henry County. She was a member of the Olive Branch Methodist Church, a graduate of Cottage Grove High School and had worked at Mitchum Company, Holley Carburetor Plant, Como General Store and Ore Springs Grocery.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathy P. Davis of Cottage Grove and Debra Correll of Mt. Juliet; one son, Don Davis of Cottage Grove; two sisters, Ruby L. Jimerson of Whitlock and Paulette Ramsey of Waverly; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Benny Carlton Hastings
1960-2005
BRUCETON - Services for Benny Carlton Hastings, 44, were conducted Saturday, July 23, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Steve Walker officiating. Interment icon followed in the Pisgah cemetery in Hollow Rock.
Mr. Hastings died Wednesday, July 20, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
He was born November 22, 1970, in Bruceton. He was a production worker for Gaines Manufacturing Company. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Carlton Hastings.
Survivors include his wife, Marita Price Hastings; his mother, Velma Hastings of Bruceton; one daughter, Regina Nicholos Tripplet of Huntingdon; two sons, James Carlton Hastings of Bruceton and Ralph Carlton Hastings of Paris; and three grandchildren.
