Hazel Hollowell
1922-2005
BUENA VISTA - Services for Hazel Hollowell, 83, were conducted Friday, July 22, at 1:00 p.m., in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Jeff Simmons officiating. Interment icon followed in Mt. Comfort cemetery.
Mrs. Hollowell, a homemaker, died Thursday, July 21, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
She was born February 20, 1922, in Benton County, to the late Auther Hicks and Sarah Bell Clark Hicks. She was a member of the Mt. Comfort Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larie Hollowell, in 1990; two brothers, Hubert Hicks and Onnie Hicks; and two sisters, Evelyn Hampton and Inez Parish.
Survivors include two sons, William J. Hollowell of Buena Vista and Bobby J. Hollowell of Huntingdon; one sister, Penny Horn of Lexington; two grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.

Phyllis Ann Stevens Tipple
1942-2005
RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA: Memorial services for Phyllis Ann Stevens Tipple, 63, were conducted Wednesday, July 6, at the Riverside National cemetery in Riverside with interment icon Friday, July 22.
She died at St. Joseph's Hospital in Orange, California, following a long illness.
Mrs. Tipple was born March 7, 1942, to the late Jeff and Pearl Rosser and formerly lived in McKenzie where she was graduate of the McKenzie High School Class of 1960.
Survivors include her husband, Franklin Tipple; a daughter, Patricia Harter of Colton, California; two sons, James "Jamie" Kimmell of Bellingham, Washington, and David Tipple of Irvine, California; 11 grandchildren; a brother, Paul Dowl, Jr. of Liberty, Missouri; and three sisters, Gayle Rosser of Jackson, Brenda Doster of McKenzie, and Candice Beasley of Decatur, Alabama..

Merrell Coleman
1912-2005
PARIS - Services for Merrell Elesta Cooper Coleman, 93, were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 24, at Ridgeway Funeral Home. Interment icon followed in the Walker cemetery.
Mrs. Coleman, a retired factory assembly worker, died Friday, July 22, at the Murray-Calloway County Long Term Care in Murray.
She was born May 21, 1912, in the South Pleasant Grove Community near Hazel, Kentucky, to the late Porter Elroy Cooper and Bertie Elkins Cooper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lexie C. Coleman, in 1972; two brothers, Tremon Cooper and J.L. Cooper; and one grandchild. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and retired from Holley Carburetor Plant after 10 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Lemonds of Paris and Carolyn Carraway of Hazel; one son, Darrel Coleman of Paris; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren.

Charles Glenn Norris
1906-2005
WINSTON-SALEM, NORTH CAROLINA: Services for Charles Glenn Norris, 98, were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 23, at Fifth Creek Presbyterian Church. Interment icon followed in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Norris, noted film industry leader and realtor, died Thursday, July 21.
He was born in November 1905 in North Carolina to the late William Baines and Ada Sloop Norris.
After a number of jobs in the film industry throughout the United States, Norris and his wife retired to Falls Church and became active realtors. He was also very active in his church and served in various leadership roles over the years.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Goodman Norris; three children, Carolyn Potts of McKenzie, Ben Norris of Duttch, Virginia, and Glenda Lee George of Vienna, Virginia; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and six siblings, Mary Austin, Nell Lundy, Nan Douglas, Dick Norris, Alma Norris and Kathleen Renegar.

Evelyn Laverne Adams Hawks
1934-2005
UNION CITY - Services for Evelyn Lavern Adams Hawks, 71, were conducted Wednesday, July 20, at White-Ranson Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Mallonee officiating. Interment icon followed in the Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Hawks died Monday, July 18, at Union City Manor Nursing Home.
She was born June 9, 1934, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to the late Al and Frances Piper Adams. She was an employee of the former Warterfield Grain Company in Union City and a member of Union City Second Baptist Church and McKenzie Order of the Eastern Star. She was a past president of the McKenzie Jaycettes.
Survivors include her husband, Fred E. Hawks; three sons, Freddit Hawks of Jackson and David Hawks and Tracy Hawks, both of Union City; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Phillip Adams.

James W. Wilcox
1909-2004
HOLLOW ROCK - Mr. James W. Wilcox, 94, died Wednesday, April 7 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, April 9 at 2:00 p.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother James Daniels officiating. Interment icon followed in the Long Rock cemetery.
Mr. Wilcox was born April 28, 1909 in Carroll County to the late Henry Otha and Estelle Conners Wilcox. He was a member of the Twin Oaks Church of Christ and a farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Mae Wilcox, who passed away on October 22, 1998 and three sisters, Nina Jean, Jewell McAdams and Cappie Presson.
Survivors include a song, Harlan Wilcox of Huntingdon and a sister, Nell Presson of Trezevant. www.dilday.com

Betty L. Duke
1936-2004
HOLLOW ROCK - Mrs. Betty L. Duke, 67, died Thursday, April 8 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, April 10 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fairview Baptist Church with Bro. Bob Ivy officiating. Interment icon followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Duke was born September 19, 1936 to the late Cecil and Sally May Howard Niesler. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jessie E. Richardson, Sr. and a sister, Mildred Gaskin.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Smothers of Hollow Rock and Jerry Smothers of Nashville; one sister, Mary Lou Hinson of Jackson; and a brother, C. Everett Richardson, Jr. of Dana, Indiana.

Linnie Bell Lowery
1930-2004
TREZEVANT - Services for Linnie Bell Lowery, 73, were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 10 at Pleasant Green Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Holly Leaf. Burial was in Pleasant Green cemetery.
Mrs. Lowery, a factory worker, died Wednesday, April 7 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
She was born June 22, 1930 in Trezevant, daughter of the late Bertha and Wrintha Williams Lowery. She was a member of the Pleasant Green Presbyterian Church in Holly Leaf.
Survivors include her husband, Alfred Lowery of Trezevant; sons Daniel Lowery of Orlando, Florida, Jack Lowery of Milan and Doug Lowery of Trezevant; a sister, Marie Cole of Knoxville; a half-brother, Paul Walker of Trezevant; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Louise R. Jones
1925-2004
CEDAR GROVE - Services for Mrs. Louise R. Jones, 78, were held at 2:00 p .m. on Monday, April 12 in the Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Don Cooper officiating. Burial was in Highland Memorial Gardens in Jackson.
Mrs. Jones died Saturday, April 10 at West Tennessee Transitional Care in Jackson.
She was born in Scotts Hill to the late Finis and Viola Mae Cannon Grice and was educated in the local schools. Mrs. Jones was the retired owner/operator of retirement homes in both Jackson and Cedar Grove. She was a member of the Lavinia Baptist Church.
She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter and a sister, Ruth Moody.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby L. Jones of Cedar Grove; a daughter, Thedolia Kay Setty of Cedar Grove; two sister, Dorothy Rambo of Jackson and Lena Lucille Mays of Lexington; a brother, James Clinton Cannon of Lavinia; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.

Bobby Thomas Argo
1929-2004
TREZEVANT - Services for Mr. Bobby Thomas Argo, 74, were held Monday, April 12 at 2:00 p.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home in Trezevant with Brother Malcolm Norton officiating. Burial was in Trezevant cemetery.
Mr. Argo died Friday, April 9 at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt.
He was born September 30, 1929 in Trezevant to the late Felix E. and Octa Walker Argo and was a retired employee of Henry I. Siegel Company in Trezevant.
Surviving are a daughter, Joy Poindexter of Jackson and three sons, Mark B. Argo of Sheffield, Alabama, Tommy Argo of Trezevant and John Argo of Lawrenceburg.

Elna Irby Henderson
1909-2004
McKENZIE - Services for Mrs. Elna Irby Henderson, 94, were on Sunday, April 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Walton Grove Presbyterian Church in Henry, where she was a member, with Pastor Albea of Walton Grove officiating. Interment icon followed in Shiloh cemetery in McKenzie.
Mrs. Henderson died Thursday, April 8 at McKenzie Regional Hospital in McKenzie.
She was born September 22, 1909 in Guntown, Mississippi to the late Elijah Irby and Clifford Irby. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dorris Henderson who died in 1996.
Survivors include two daughters, Velma Taylor of Knoxville and Jean Edwards of Detroit, Michigan; a son, Dwight Henderson of McKenzie; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Elva Kee King
1912-2004
BUENA VISTA - Services for Elva Kee King, 91, were at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 9 at Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Clarence Noles officiating. Burial was in McAuley cemetery.
Mrs. King, retired elementary school teacher for the Hollow Rock-Bruceton Special School District, died Wednesday, April 7 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
She was born August 18, 1912 in Buena Vista to the late William Henry Kee and Lula Ozier Kee. She was a member of Mt. Nebo Baptist and Bruceton Order of the Eastern Star #314.
Survivors include a sister, Sue Beachboard of Madison, several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lee 'Pete' King.
