Liggie Franklin Cordle

BATH SPRINGS: Funeral services for Mr. Liggie Franklin Cordle, 47, were conducted on Sunday, April 11, at 3:00 p.m. in the Decatur County Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Danny Pettigrew and Bro. Joe Wood officiating. Interment icon followed in Grays Chapel Church cemetery.
Mr. Cordle, a truck driver and farmer, passed away on Saturday, April 10 at Decatur County General Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Josie Hollowell Cordle; two daughters and two sons, Renee Gooch of Yuma, Angie Wadley of Lexington, Wayne Chamberlin of Humboldt and Ray Chamberlin of McLemoresville; four sisters, Wilma Sue Watson of Bath Springs, Linda Tucker and Evelyn Tharpe, both of Decaturville and Martha Barker of Regan and six grandchildren.

R.C. Lawrence
1927-2004
HENRY - School bus driver R.C. Lawrence, 77, died Wednesday morning, April 7 at Henry County Medical Center. Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 10 at McEvoy Funeral Home with the Rev. Alan Trull of Henry United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Old Union cemetery near Como.
A Henry County native, he was born March 2, 1927, to the late Roe Chester Lawrence and Ludie Mae Jackson Lawrence. He graduated from Henry High School and attended a business college for one year. He drove a school bus for the Henry County School System and Paris Special School District for 19 years and was a Korean War veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Harriet Sue Peebles, to whom he was married on July 15, 1949; two daughters, Debbie Wiles of Paris and Sue Ellen Jeruzal of Memphis; and one grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Rombye Omar and Mable Mason and a brother, Barney Lawrence.

Janice Ann Chandler
1945-2004
McKENZIE - Services for Janice Ann Chandler, 58, were at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 10 at Brummitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Keith Pence officiating. Burial was in Finley cemetery.
Mrs. Chandler, owner of Chandler Repair Shop and a beautician, died Friday, April 9 at Methodist Hospital Central in Memphis.
She was born May 6, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Annie Virgie Grooms Chandler and Leamor E. Dunlap. She was a member of Blooming Grove United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Kim (Matt) Chapman of McKenzie; a grandchild, Chandler Noah Chapman of McKenzie.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Willis Reuben 'Billy' Chandler.

Ashton Grey Martin

WUERZBURG, GERMANY: Services for Ashton Grey Martin, two months old, were at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 10 at LeDon Chapel Ridgeway Funeral Home in Paris with the Rev. Joe McClure officiating. Burial was in Foundry Hill cemetery in Puryear.
The infant died March 30 in Schweinfurt, Germany. She was born January 17, 2004 in Wuerzburg, Germany.
Survivors include her mother and father, Jermey and Destaney Wallace Martin of Schweinfurt, Germany; her maternal grandparents Tina and Jeff Wallace of Buchanan; her paternal grandfather, Ronnie Martin of McKenzie; paternal grandmother, Ruby Sanders of Shelbyville; great-grandmother Faye Hartzler of McKenzie, great-grandfather Roy Martin of Huntingdon; two brothers, Dakota and J.J. Martin, both of Schweinfurt, Germany and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents JoAnn and J.C. Reed, Dorothy Beecham, Franklin Wallace and James and Virginia Andrews.

Brent Morel
1976-2004
MEMPHIS - Services for Marine Captain Brent Morel, 27, will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 15 at the Cherokee Baptist Church, 5340 Quince Estate, Memphis. Interment icon will follow at the Memphis National cemetery. Visitation will be at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 14 at the Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue.
Captain Morel was killed in combat in Fallujah, Iraq on Wednesday, April 7. He was a 1994 graduate of Bartlett High School and a 1999 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin.
Survivors include his wife Amy Morel of Camp Pendleton, California; his parents, Mike and Molly Morel of McKenzie; one sister, Marcy Woods and her husband Richard, of McKenzie and grandparents Paul and Georgette Smith of Martin, Tommy Morel of Mount Juliet and JoAnn Vester of New Johnsonville.

Joe Denver Hodge
1932-2004
WILDERSVILLE - Services for Joe Denver Hodge, 71, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 11 at the Yuma Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Farmville cemetery in Wildersville. Mr. Hodge died on Monday, February 9 at the Life Care Center in Bruceton. Survivors include his wife Shirley Hodge of Wildersville; one daughter, Janice Williams of Wildersville, two sons, Richard Stanley Hodge of Camden and Deron Hodge of Yuma and three grandchildren. Pafford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Kenneth Ray Pugh
1948-2004
McKENZIE - Services for Kenneth Ray Pugh, 55, were held on Tuesday, May 4 at 10:00 a.m. at the Brummitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harrell Nation officiating. Interment icon followed in Shiloh cemetery.
He died on Saturday, May 1 at the VA Hospital in Nashville.
Mr. Pugh was born September 11, 1948 in McKenzie to Lois R. Pugh and Rev. John E. Pugh, of McKenzie.
Survivors include one son, Christopher David Pugh and one daughter, Jennifer Lake Pugh, both of Tupelo, Mississippi; one brother, David E. Pugh of McKenzie; two sisters, Sandra Jean Hunt of Memphis and Grace Pugh Hubbard of New Jersey. He was preceded in death by one sister, Susan Pugh Beatty.
Mr. Pugh was a member of the First Methodist Church in McKenzie, a member of the VFW, Masons and Shriner and was a Vietnam Navy veteran.

McCoy J. Shoffner
1933-2004
BRUCETON - Mr. McCoy J. Shoffner, 71, died on Friday, April 30 at Life Care Center in Bruceton. Graveside services were conducted on Tuesday, May 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Humbles cemetery.
Mr. Shoffner was born January 8, 1933 to the late Dock and Claudia Williams Shoffner. He was a retired cab driver.
Survivors include two sisters, Jewell Hunt of Huntingdon and Miljan Akin of Chicago, Illinois.

William Lester Webb
1914-2004
HUNTINGDON - Mr. William Lester Webb, 89, died on Saturday, May 1 at Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center in Huntingdon. Services were conducted on Monday, May 3 at 10:00 a.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Lynn Stapleton and Brother Mitchell Rayburn officiating. Interment icon followed in New Hope cemetery.
Mr. Webb was born October 15, 1914 in Benton County to the late Samuel D. and Erma Lee Hollowell Webb. He was a store clerk and farmer and a member of the Yuma Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Elizabeth Williams Webb, who passed away on November 18, 2001; one daughter, Dorothy Lee Webb; four brothers, Edward T. Webb, James Calvin Webb, James W. Webb and H.D. Webb and three sisters, Erlene Rayburn, Madeline Reed and Eula Mae Griffith.
Survivors include three daughters, Mildred Elizabeth Butler and Janet Bernice Prince, both of Huntingdon and Brenda Bee Dickson of Bruceton; two brothers, Wilburn S. Webb of Jacksonville, Texas and Wilford D. Webb of Killeen, Texas; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. www.dilday.com

Virginia Ann Milam
1943-2004
HUNTINGDON - Mrs. Virginia Ann Milam, 60, died Tuesday, April 27 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Services were conducted on Friday, April 30 at 2:00 p.m. at the Huntingdon Church of Christ with Brother Bill Goodpasture officiating. Interment icon followed in the Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Milam was born June 25, 1943 in Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania to the late Jesse and Pearl Westerling Rexford. She was a retired postmaster for the United States Postal Service. She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Billy" Milam, who passed away in 1999 and two brothers, Richard Rexford and Donnie Rexford.
Survivors include two sons, Pat Milam of Huntingdon and Mark Milam of Memphis; four brothers, Lymon Rexford of Groveport, Ohio, Bob Rexford of Fort Walton, Florida, Carl Rexford of Edinboro, Pennsylvania and John Rexford of Springfield, Virginia; five sisters, Mary Louise Gall of Edinboro, Pennsylvania, Joan Lindenmoyer of Edinboro, Pennsylvania, Carrie Rexford of Mesa, Arizona, Rev. Cathy Rexford of Warren, Ohio and Evelyn Bender of Boco Reton, Florida.

Alice Mae Bishop

HUNTINGDON - Mrs. Alice Mae Bishop, 103, died on Wednesday, April 28 at her home. Services were conducted on Friday, April 30 at 2:00 p.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Richard Bragg and Brother Jimmy Burrows officiating. Interment icon followed in the New Bethel cemetery.
Mrs. Bishop was born June 22, 1900 in Henderson County to the late Tom and Emmaline Cruse Renfroe. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bethel Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Florence Bishop, who passed away on July 5, 1968; two sons, Haley Bishop and Clyde Bishop and two daughters, Mayme Mullins and Nellie Jewel Bishop.
Survivors include two daughters, Annie Volner of Huntingdon and Garcie Stanford of Cedar Grove; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. www.dilday.com

Bill Chesser
1944-2004
MILAN - Services for Mr. Bill Chesser, 60, were at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 1 at the Immanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Powell officiating. Burial was in Pisgah cemetery in Atwood.
Mr. Chesser, a retired carpenter, died on Wednesday, April 28 at the Milan General Hospital. He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Diane Chesser Timmons of Milan, Kelly Reeves of Atwood and Sheri Chesser of Milan; his mother, Viola Lowry of McKenzie; two brothers, George Chesser, Jr. of Trenton and Irvin Chesser of McKenzie; one sister, Marie Brown of Trenton and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Beau Reeves.
The family requests memorials be directed to Immanuel Baptist Church in Milan. Bodkin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Cynthia Kay Cagle
1957-2004
GLEASON - Services for Cynthia Kay Cagle, 47, were at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 18 at Beech Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Copeland officiating. Interment icon followed in Pisgah cemetery in Dresden.
Mrs. Cagle was an employee at Rubye's Restaurant and a member of Beech Springs Baptist Church. She died on Thursday, April 15 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
She was born March 9, 1957 in Union City to Henry Spence and Thelma Doris Trevathan Freeman who preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Roger Allen Cagle; one son, Joshua Allen Cagle of Gleason and Amanda Leigh Cagle of Gleason and one brother, Michael Spence Freeman of Jackson.
