James "Jim" Rex Richards
1950-2004
McKENZIE - Services for James "Jim" Rex Richards, 53, formerly of Trezevant, were on Friday, April 30 at 11:00 a.m. in the McKenzie Funeral Home Cedar Avenue Chapel. Interment icon followed in Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Richards, a Milan city fireman and truck driver, died on Tuesday, April 27 in McKenzie.
He was born June 2, 1950 in Washington, DC to the late Rex Morgan Richards and E. Allene Richards. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Candyce Richards.
Survivors include three daughters, Michelle D. Lamb of McKenzie, Theresa R. Grimes of Humboldt and April D. Richards of Seattle, Washington; two sons, Michael S. Mulligan of Trezevant and Paul J. Richards of Norfolk, Virginia; one sister, Sharon Richards of El Centro, California and four grandchildren.
He was a Baptist and served as a hospital corpsman in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict.

Anna Isabel Matheny
1918-2004
ATWOOD - Services for Anna Isabel Matheny, 85, were at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 25 at LeDon Chapel, Ridgeway Funeral Home in Paris with the Rev. Tony Latham officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest cemetery.
Mrs. Matheny died on Saturday, May 22 at Milan Healthcare Center.
She was born July 6, 1918 in Linden. Her parents were the late Richard Baker and Cora Fuller Baker. She was a member of Howse Baptist Church in Atwood.
Survivors include six sons, Gary Matheny and Curtis Franklin Matheny, both of Atwood; Jerry Matheny of Humboldt, Edgar Dale Matheny of Medina, James Elmer Matheny of Paris and George Ray Matheny of Breman, Kentucky; two daughters, Jane Lane of Trezevant and Janice Faye Soloway of Walton, Indiana; a sister, Sue Worbington of Scott, Mississippi; 25 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Foriest Matheny; a son, Everett Wayne Matheny; four brothers, Brown, Brady, Orville and Thomas Baker; three sisters, Mae McCullar, Mavis Morehead and Altie Salyers; two grandchildren, Steve and Teresa Matheny and two great-grandchildren, Christopher Crick and Bobby Foray.

Inez Rodgers Pendergrast
1908-2004
McKENZIE - Graveside services for Inez Rodgers Pendergrast, 96, were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 24 at Hollywood cemetery in Jackson. Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Pendergrast died on Thursday, May 20 at McKenzie Health Care in McKenzie. She was a former resident of Jackson and retired employee of the former Nathan's Ladies Store in Jackson.
She was born February 20, 1908 in McKenzie to the late Ola Berryhill Rodgers and Claude C. Rodgers. She was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred C. Pendergrast; two sisters, Mildred Barnes and Frances Bowden; a niece, Rebecca Barnes Alexander; a nephew, Claude 'Bob' Bowden and a great-nephew, Charles 'Chuck' Bowden.
Survivors include two great nephews, Richard and Ray Stephenson of Vero Beach, Florida; three great-great-nephews, Ryan, Joshua and Luke Bowden of Franklin and her caregiver, Mrs. June Brummitt of McKenzie.

Mary Helen Rigsby
1919-2004
CEDAR GROVE - Mrs. Mary Helen Rigsby, 84, died on Monday, May 17 at the McKenzie Regional Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, May 19 at 2:00 p.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Robert Barger officiating. Interment icon followed in Pleasant Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Rigsby was born December 6, 1919 in Carroll County to the late Walter and Sally Tripp Hammer. She was a homemaker and a member of the Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Guy Yancy; her second husbnd, Graydon Rigsby; a sister, Blanch Abbott, four brothers, William Hammer, Erby Hammer, Wayne Hammer, James Hammer and a granddaughter.
Survivors include three daughters, Helen Kemp of Germantown, Jerrie Argo of Franklin and Debra McGowan of Lavinia; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. www.dilday.com

Joe Howard Staten
1939-2004
HUNTINGDON - Mr. Joe Howard Staten, 64, passed away on Friday, May 21 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 25 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor David C. McCraney officiating. Interment icon followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Staten was born August 2, 1939 in Carroll County to the late H.C. and I.B. Bomar Staten. He was a construction supervisor for the Dement Construction Company and Hubbs Construction Company and a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Curch. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Ruth Hart.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Curley Gooch Staten; three daughters, Janet Parker of Huntingdon, Victoria Cockrell of Huntingdon and Bobbie Rivers of Lexington; one son, Joe H. Staten, Jr. of Antioch; one sister, Sue Helen Williams of Huntingdon; three brothers, Eddie Staten of Clarksburg, Rufus Staten and Dexter Ray Staten, both of Cedar Grove; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Chase Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Tommie Jewel Sutton
1924-2004
HUNTINGDON - Mrs. Tommie Jewel Sutton, 80, passed away on Thursday, May 20 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, May 23 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Steve Martin officiating. Interment icon followed in the Carter's Chapel cemetery.
Mrs. Sutton was born February 15, 1924 in Carroll County to the late Vern and Allice Carter Robison. She was a quality control inspector for Henry I. Siegel Company and was a member of the Carter's Chapel United Methodist Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clifford 'Goob' Sutton and an infant son, David Aubrey Sutton.
Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Patterson of McKenzie and one son, Larry Sutton of New Braunfels, Texas; and three grandchildren.

Melvin 'Curley' Watkins
1924-2004
CEDAR GROVE - Mr. Melvin 'Curley' Watkins, 80, passed away on Saturday, May 22 at his home.
He was born January 24, 1924 in Missouri to the late Clyde Edgar Watkins and Gertrude Cates Watkins. He was a retired security guard; a World War II army veteran; and a member of the Elks Lodge.
Survivors include one daughter, Gail Frezza of Cedar Grove; one son, Melvin Watkins, Jr. of California; one sister, Loraine McCue of Missouri; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mary Pritchett
1940-2004
PARIS - Mary Pritchett, 63, passed away on Monday, May 24 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson. Arrangements were incomplete at press time and will be announced later. Trinity Funeral Home is in charge of those arrangements.

Judith Ann Lockhart Richardson
1952-2004
HUNTINGDON - Mrs. Judith Ann Lockhart Richardson, 51, passed away Saturday, May 8 at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis. Services were conducted on Monday, May 10 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Lynn Stapleton officiating. Interment icon followed in the Barron Springs cemetery.
Mrs. Richardson was born June 24, 1952 in Huntingdon to the late James Marion and Eular Bradford Lockhart. She was a factory worker for the Thomas Bradford Company. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, William David Bush.
Survivors include one daughter, LouAnn Gateley of the Leach Community; one son, Roy Michael Richardson, Jr. of Huntingdon; one sister, Brenda Lockhart of Huntingdon and three grandchildren.

Rhonda Ledell Sims
1954-2004
McKENZIE - Services for Rhonda Ledell Sims, 49, will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 24 at Greater Enon Baptist Church with the Rev. James Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery. Trinity Funeral Home in Paris is in charge of the arrangements.
Miss Sims, an employee of Carroll County Developmental Center for 25 years, died Thursday, March 18 at McKenzie Regional Hospital.
She was born October 10, 1954 in McKenzie. She was a member of Greater Enon Baptist Church, choir and Sunday school
Survivors include her mother, Erma Erving Sims of McKenzie and a brother, Rev. Julius Sims of St. Louis, Missouri; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Julius W. Sims.

Ricky Lyn Bailey
1960-2004
HUNTINGDON - Mr. Ricky Lyn Bailey, 43, died on Wednesday, March 17 at the Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, March 19 at 1:00 p.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Tony Lipford officiating. Interment icon followed at Mt. Comfort cemetery.
Mr. Bailey was born June 10, 1960 in Carroll County to the late Thurman and Ruth Ellen Boyd. He was a brick layer and a Baptist. He was preceded in death by a brother, L.C. Bailey.
Survivors include a daughter, Miranda Bailey of Springville; six sisters, Mary Brotherton, Brooxie Parish, Patsy Bailey, Carolyn Pillow, Debbie Burns, all of Huntingdon and Brenda Todd of McKenzie; four brothers, Bruce Bailey and Scotty Bailey, both of Huntingdon, Donald Bailey of Paris and Joe Bailey of Lexington; and three grandchildren. www.dilday.com

Emily Arlene Brown

HOLLOW ROCK - Miss Emily Arlene Brown died Monday, March 15 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital. Graveside services were conducted on Thursday, March 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Marlboro cemetery.
Miss Brown was born March 10 in McKenzie. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jacob Cuehlke and Timothy Cuehlke.
Survivors include her parents, Danny and Kathy Brown; four sisters, Kellie Cuehlke, Danyell Brasel, Dolly Shafer and Harley Brown; three brothers, Anthony Cuehlke, John Cuehlke and Logan Cuehlke; her paternal grandparents, Melvina Breuklander and Vern White, both of Camden and her maternal grandparents, Margaret and Harold Cuehlke of Florida.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Marshall Tucker Mayo
Memorial services for Marshall Tucker Mayo will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 28 at the National Guard Armory on Highway 22 North, located behind Republic Builders. Mr. Mayo died February 15.
