Hazel Christine Murphy
1920-2004
TERRY COMMUNITY: Mrs. Hazel Christine Murphy, 83, passed away on Thursday, March 18 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, March 20 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Lee Johnson officiating. Interment icon followed in the Obion Chapel cemetery.
Mrs. Murphy was born July 10, 1920 in Bogota to the late Filmore and Mary Ladd Johnson. She was a member of the Obion Chapel Church of Christ; a homemaker and was very involved with the home demonstration club. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Otis Murphy, who passed away on April 15, 1999; five brothers, Curtis Johnson, Joe Allen Johnson, Harold 'Buddy' Johnson, Rowland Johnson and Ernest Johnson and one sister, Irene Chandler.
Survivors include two daughters, Dean Dill of Lavinia and Donna Mann of Brownsville; one son, Bennie Murphy of Cedar Grove; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Frances Elizabeth Roney Cooper
1916-2005
GLEASON - Services for Frances Elizabeth Roney Cooper, 88, were at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 17, at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Reverends Jim Pinnell, Roy Auvenshine and Robert Tuck officiating. Burial was in Hopewell cemetery. Gallimore Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Cooper, a homemaker, died Monday, March 14, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin.
She was born September 8, 1916, in Gleason to the late Alton Bullock and Clara Bailey Bullock. She was a member of the Gleason Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include three sons, Lindell Roney of Gleason, Joe Wayne Roney of Sharon and Earl Roney of Richmond, Virginia; two daughters, Marcia Tuck of Gleason and Carolyn Allen of Dyersburg; a stepson, Howie Cooper of Gleason; two stepdaughters, Linda Williams of Huntingdon and Leighton Parsley of Gleason; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Henry H. Roney and Lloyd B. Cooper.

Rubye Lee Akin Bateman
1915-2005
McKENZIE - Services for Rubye Lee Akin Bateman, 89, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 25, in the Cedar Avenue Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 24. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Bethel College.
Mrs. Bateman died on Monday, March 21, at McKenzie Regional Hospital.
She was born October 29, 1915, to the late Willie Blaine Akin and Beulah Blaylock Akin of Trezevant. She was the widow of Odell Bateman and was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Akin, Blaine Akin and Thomas Akin of Trezevant, and a son-in-law, Jeff Thomas (Jean) of Chattanooga.
Mrs. Bateman was a retired bookkeeper for Bateman Construction Company and pharmtech for Lindsey's and Drigger's Rexall Drugs. She was a member of the McKenzie Church of Christ where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a member of the McKenzie Business and Professional Women's Club.
Survivors include her daughter, Frances Jean Bateman Thomas of Chattanooga; one son, Michael Odell Bateman and wife Laura J. Bateman of McKenzie; grandchildren, David and wife Sharon Thomas, Cheri Thomas of Chattanooga, Michele and David Jarrett, Christie and Brad Chappell, and Andrew Bateman, all of McKenzie, and Michael Bline and wife Angela Bateman of Nashville; and great-grandchildren Elizabeth Thomas of Chattanooga and Morgan, Zach and Evan Jarrett and Nick, Jake and Allie Chappell, all of McKenzie.

Johnny B. Adkisson
1943-2005
GREENFIELD - Services for Johnny B. Adkisson, 61, were conducted Saturday, March 19, at 12:00 noon at the Wingo Baptist Church in Wingo with the Reverend Robert Norfolk officiating. Interment icon followed in the Wingo Church cemetery.
Mr. Adkisson, a veteran and employee of Quebecor World, died on Tuesday, March 15, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin.
He was born December 13, 1943, in Trezevant to the late L.C. and Louise Williams Adkisson.
Survivors include one son, Shannon Adkisson of Greenfield; two sisters, Loreene Anderson and Sarah Brown, both of Bradford; a brother, Erskine Adkisson of Atwood; companion Peggy Gill; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Trinity Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Michael 'Mike' Douglas Breedon
1956-2005
PARIS - Services for Michael 'Mike' Douglas Breedon, 49, were at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 18, at Ridgeway Funeral Home in Paris with Steve Gallimore and Jerald Sykes officiating. Interment icon followed in Oak Hill cemetery.
Mr. Breedon, a farmer and self-employed carpenter, died on Tuesday, March 15, at the Henry County Medical Center following a sudden illness.
He was born January 18, 1956, in Huntingdon to Harold Douglas Breedon of Cedar Grove and Doris Jean Dennison Breedon of Huntingdon, both of whom survive.
Other survivors include his wife, Ret Thomas Breedon; one daughter, Melinda Webb of Surprise, Arizona; one son, Geoffery Breeden of Richmond, Kentucky; one brother, Keith Breeden of Huntingdon; his grandmother, Excell Dennison of Huntingdon; two grandchildren; and one step-grandson.
He was preceded in death by three grandparents, Carl Dennison and Lenzie and Ollie Mae Breeden.

Maureen Olivia Dowdy
1926-2005
HUNTINGDON - Services for Maureen Olivia Dowdy, 78, wee conducted Tuesday, March 22, at 11:00 a.m. at the Union Academy Baptist Church with Brother Ted Duffy officiating. Interment icon followed in the Highland Memorial Mausoleum with Brother Bobby Campbell officiating.
Mrs. Dowdy died Sunday, March 20. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Dowdy, in 2002.
Survivors include three daughters, Ann Burns and Ruth Butler, both of Jackson, and Terry Cupples of Huntingdon; three sons, Thomas Dowdy of Nashville, Wayne Dowdy of Huntingdon, and Duane Dowdy of Trezevant; one brother, Charles Williams of Farmerville, Louisiana; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
The family requests donations be made to the Union Academy Baptist Church Building Fund in lieu of flowers.

Damian Lee Gilbert
2002-2005
DRESDEN - Graveside services for Damian Lee Gilbert, 3, were held Saturday, June 4, at 10:00 a.m. at Wolf Creek cemetery in Hickman County. Services were under the direction of Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson.
Damian died Wednesday, June 1, of injuries received in an accident in Huntingdon.
Survivors include his mother, Renee Butler of Milan; father and stepmother, Charles and Jerica Gilbert of Dresden; a sister, Mekayla Harlan of Dresden; brothers Gavin Gilbert of Dresden, Will Younger of Union City, and Tyler Butler and Jonathan Butler of Milan; and grandparents Brenda and Joe Johnson of Lobelville, Janet Restrepo and Jerry Deslitch of Dresden, and Joseph Botger of Denver, Colorado.

Roy G. Graham
1916-2005
BRUCETON - Services for Roy Grant Graham, 88, were conducted at 10:30 a.m. at McEvoy Funeral Home with Gary S. Collier officiating. Interment icon followed with Masonic rites in Bevil cemetery.
Mr. Graham, a retired L&N Railroad engineer and Henry County native, died Sunday, May 29, at Camden General Hospital.
He was born October 14, 1916, to the late Raymond G. and Hattie Muzzall Graham.
He was a Henry High School graduate and retired from L&N Railroad after 36 years. A 32nd degree Mason, he was a member of Bruceton Masonic Lodge 731 and a member of the First Baptist Church in Bruceton.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Rebecca Haynes Graham; one daughter, Dorothy "Dottie" Kendall of Springville; two sons, Dennis Graham of Paris and Kenneth Graham of Bruceton; a sister, Doris Crews of Paris; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Roger Graham, and a grandson, Michael Oxford. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Bruceton.

Issac "Harold" McMackin
1933-2005
BRUCETON - Services for Issac Junior "Harold" McMackin, 72, were conducted Saturday, June 4, at 2:00 p.m. at the Barron Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Bro. Larry Hollingsworth officiating. Interment icon followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. McMackin died Wednesday, June 1, at the Laurelwood Health Care Center in Jackson.
He was born April 30, 1933, in Carroll County, to the late Carlos Issac McMackin and Sophia Turner McMackin. He retired from Emerson Electric Company where he was employed as a truck driver. He was preceded in death by five siblings: Cecil McMackin, Hazel Hampton, Russell McMackin, O.C. McMackin and R.N. McMackin.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Crutchfield McMackin, whom he married on June 23, 1956; one daughter, Shirley Kimberly of Kansasville, Wisconsin; three sons, David McMackin of Zion, Illinois, Kenny Smothers of Hollow Rock, and Brent McMackin of Bruceton; one sister, Dorothy Maulsby of Good Springs; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Dewey Andrew Pritchard
1921-2005
HUNTINGDON - Graveside services for Dewey Andrew Pritchard, 83, were conducted Monday, May 29, at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Hill cemetery.
Mr. Pritchard died Saturday, May 28, at McKenzie Health Care Center.
He was born November 2, 1921, in Huntingdon, to the late Andrew and Gurtha Griggs Pritchard. He was a World War II Army veteran and a self-employed truck driver. He was preceded in death by his wife, June Kee Pritchard, who died June 5, 1989, and two sisters, Dorothy Sue Looney and Ruth Baker.
Survivors include one son, Jimmy Pritchard of Huntingdon; five daughters: Debra Twyman, Pat Dillahunty, Rhonda Pritchard, and Stephanie Warbritton, all of Huntingdon, and Pam Pritchard of Portland, Oregon; one brother, Ronnie Pritchard of Brentwood; two sisters, Doris Ward of Huntingdon and Betty Belew of Nashville; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

James Floyd Sykes
1928-2005
LAVINIA - Graveside services for James Floyd Sykes, 76, were held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, June 3, at Pleasant Hill cemetery in Lavinia.
Mr. Sykes, a retired farmer and electrician, died Tuesday, May 31, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Survivors include his daughters, Barbara Sykes of Redford, Michigan, and Jennifer Weaver of Jackson; sons Joseph R. Sykes of Chicago, Illinois, Adam B. Sykes of Rockledge, Florida, and James David Sykes of Lavinia; sisters Louise Walters of Medina and Linda Buckner of Cookeville; brothers, Jake Sykes of Lavinia; and a grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron Elco Sykes and Clara Teague Sykes; one daughter, Sharon Sykes; sisters Reba Williams, Mildred Sykes, and Dorothy Sykes; and one brother, Paul Sykes.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice. Bodkin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
