James Franklin Harrison
1918-2005
McKENZIE - Services for James Franklin Harrison, 86, were at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, at Brummitt Funeral Home with Brother Vance Rushing officiating. Interment icon followed in Everett's Chapel cemetery.
Mr. Harrison, a retired school bus driver for Weakley County and a farmer, died Saturday, March 19, at Jackson Regional Hospital.
He was born July 29, 1918, in Atwood to the late Rachel Edward Harrison and Ben Franklin Harrison.
Survivors include a son, Billy Franklin Harrison; a daughter, Mildred Payne of McKenzie; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Pryor Harrison.

Bobby Odell Ross
1942-2005
HUNTINGDON - Services for Bobby Odell Ross, 62, were held Sunday, March 20, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Huntingdon with Brother Fred Ward officiating. Interment icon followed in Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Ross died Friday, March 18, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
He was born April 8, 1942, in Henderson County to the late William H. and Flaudia McCormick Ross. He was an industrial engineer for the Publix Shirt Corporation and a member of the First Baptist Church in Huntingdon. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kristen Bynum.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Roy Ross; one son, Kevin Ross of Knoxville; one stepson, David Carter and one stepdaughter, Amy Bynum, both of Huntingdon; two sisters, Cathy Jameson of Memphis and Betty N. Todd of Smyrna; one brother, Randy Ross of Lexington; and six grandchildren.

William D. Dismuke, Sr.
1924-2005
McKENZIE - Services for William D. Dismuke, Sr., 80, will be held Wednesday, March 23, in the Cedar Avenue Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home with Doug Sanders and Wayne Prater officiating. Interment icon will follow at Mt. Olivet cemetery in McKenzie. The family will receive friends at McKenzie Funeral Home Tuesday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, beginning at 11:00 a.m. until service time.
Mr. Dismuke, a retired production manager for Zorn Printing Firm, died Monday, March 21, at McKenzie Regional Hospital. He was a native of Martin and was born August 26, 1924, to the late William Ashley Dismuke and Ruth Bell Gatewood Dismuke. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served both during and following World War II. He was discharged as a sergeant in the medical corps and was a Baptist by faith. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dupon Dismuke.
Survivors include his wife, Estelle Sanders Dismuke; two sons, Danny Dismuke, Jr. of New York and Robert 'Bobby' Dismujke of Long Beach, New Jersey; two brothers, Hugh Dismuke of Dresden and Jerry Dismuke of Crete, Illinois; and two grandchildren.

Gus Fred McCain
McKENZIE - Gus Fred McCain, 90, died Monday, August 29, at Regional Hospital in Jackson. Services were conducted by Bro. Roger Graham on August 31 at McKenzie Funeral Home chapel. Burial was in Tumbling Creek cemetery in Gleason.
Mr. McCain was a member of Henry Church of Christ and a retired farmer. He was the son of the late William and Ellena Jackson McCain.
He is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Hubbard of McKenzie and June Green of Gleason; three sons: Tom McCain and Tony McCain of McKenzie and Lynn McCain of Paris; ten grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nell McCain.
McKenzie Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Elizabeth Godwin
NAPLES, FLORIDA - Mary Elizabeth Godwin, 88, formerly of Paris, died Sunday, August 28, at her home. Services were Saturday, September 3, at Sulphur Well Church of Christ in Springville, Tenn., with burial in Sulphur Well cemetery. Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Godwin is survived by one daughter, Betty J. Godwin Bell of Naples, Florida; one son, John M. Russell of Buchanan; one brother, William Robertson of McKenzie; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker and a member of Sulphur Well Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Mars Godwin, and parents, Willie and Ruth Russell.

Joe Julian
GLEASON - Joe Julian, 78, died Sunday, August 28, in Franklin. Services were conducted August 31 at McKenzie Church of Christ with Bro. Jim Roberts and Bro. Jerry Patterson officiating. Burial followed in New Valley cemetery in Gleason. Gallimore Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Julian was a member of McKenzie Church of Christ and was a homebuilder.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Boals Julian, one son, Eddy Julian of Lexington, Ky.; one step-daughter, Beth Gibson of Medon, Tenn.; two sisters, Elizabeth Pope of Jackson and Maudie Huey of Gleason; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, G.W. and Jester Cottingham Julian.

Kenny Hill
McKENZIE - Kenny Bond Hill, 56, died at his residence Tuesday, August 30. Graveside services were conducted September 2 at Blooming Grove cemetery in Palmersville by Bro. Jim Barnhouse.
Mr. Hill was the son of the late Paul and Martha Jo Wilburn Hill. He is survived by one son, Joseph Anthony Hill; two brothers, Rick Hill of Bruceton and Paul Terry Hill of Quito, Tenn.
McKenzie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Effie Genella Cooper
McKENZIE - Effie Genella Cooper, 86, died Tuesday, August 30, at her residence.
Services were conducted September 1 at McKenzie Funeral Home with burial in Pilgrims Rest cemetery. Bro. John Forgy officiated.
Mrs. Cooper was a retired worker of the Milan Army Ammunition Plant and member of Trezevant Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband, Lewis Cooper; one daughter, Diane Giles of McKenzie; one son, Danny Cooper of McKenzie; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
McKenzie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Hal Tucker
McKENZIE - Hal Tucker, 58, died Tuesday, August 30, at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Services were September 3 at Brummitt Funeral Home with burial in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mr. Tucker was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church in McKenzie.
He is survived by his mother, Sudie Campbell Tucker of McKenzie.
He was preceded in death by his father, J.C. Tucker.
Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Barbara Jean Roper
McLEMORESVILLE - Barbara Jean Roper, 77, died Monday, August 29, at West Tennessee Transitional Care in Jackson. Services were September 3 at McLemoresville Cumberland Presbyterian Church with burial in Reedy Creek cemetery. Rev. Lordell Love and Elder James Bridgeman officiated.
Mrs. Roper was a member of St. John Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and served on the Usher Board and was a Sunday School Teacher.
She is survived by her husband, Carslell Roper; one son, Carl Roper of McKenzie; one daughter, Gloria Bridgeman of Jackson; one sister, Mozelle Colbert of Michigan; one brother, John Bell of McLemoresville; two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.
Rawls Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Arthur Montgomery Watwood
1922-2005
BRUCETON - Arthur Montgomery Watwood, 83, died Sunday, August 28, at the Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mass memorial services were conducted Tuesday, August 30, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Camden.
Mr. Watwood was born May 12,1922,in Patterson, Arkansas, to the late Stewart Berry Watwood and Mary Elizabeth (McCue) Watwood. He was a retired truck driver for the Steel Transportation Company and a World War II Army veteran.
He is survived by one daughter, Janet Kozak; two sons, Jim (Sandy) Simpson and Dan Watwood; one sister, Delores Burgett; and two brothers, J.R. Watwood and Leonard Watwood. He also leaves three grandsons, two granddaughters, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

W.J. Bailey
DRESDEN - W.J. Bailey, 69, died Tuesday, August 30, at his residence. Services were conducted September 2 at Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Nathan Horton and Rev. Dave Gargus officiating. Burial was in Union cemetery in Dresden.
Mr. Bailey was a retired construction worker and a member of Siloam General Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Iva Sue Powers Bailey; one son, Ricky Bailey of Bartlett; two daughters, Darlene Dunning and Jana Gallimore of Dresden; his parents, Raymond and Cora Stephens Bailey; one brother, Rev. Charles Bailey of Gleason; one sister, Christine Wiggins of McKenzie; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Stella Dilday.
Gallimore Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

L.D. "Scobe" Ellis
1931-2005
BUENA VISTA - L.D. "Scobe" Ellis, 74, died Thursday, September 1, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, September 4, in the chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment icon followed in the McAuley cemetery. Bro. Johnny Boyd officiated the service.
Mr. Ellis was born May 22, 1931, in Benton County, to the late Oba Lee Ellis and Nancy (Baker) Ellis. He was retired from the town of Huntingdon and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, Zolline Ellis, who died February 2, 2005.
He is survived by one daughter, Sherry Gross and two sons, Johnny Ellis and Danny Ellis, all of Buena Vista. He also leaved four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
