Luie Gordon Quinn
1939-2005
WESTPORT: Services for Luie Gordon Quinn, 66, were conducted Saturday, July 16, at 4:00 p.m., in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Robert Simmons officiating. Interment icon followed in the Jamison cemetery.
Mr. Quinn died Thursday, July 14, after a long illness with cancer.
He was born January 12, 1939, in Henderson County, to the late Luie Wesley Quinn and Alta Ruth Hill Quinn. He was a sawmill operator and welder for most of his life. He was preceded in death by one brother, O'neal Quinn.
Survivors include his wife of almost 36 years, Andrea Gail Quinn; two daughters, Gail Ann Quinn of Dresden and Helen Ruth Davis of McKenzie; five sisters, Jane Gurley of Beech Bluff, Lola Webb of Camden, Earlene Sibley of Maury City, Bonnie Bucie of Atwood, and Lou Nell Loudermilk of Milan; five grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Virla Birdwell Ellington
1918-2005
MILAN - Graveside services for Virla Birdwell Ellington, 86, were conducted Saturday, July 16, at 11:00 a.m., at the New Hope Baptist Church in Yuma, with Brother Thomas Barber officiating.
Mrs. Ellington died Thursday, July 14, at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late James Blaine and Ludie Mae Birdwell of Yuma and was one of 13 children. She graduated from the Columbia College of Cosmetology in Columbia in 1938 and married Rubert Ellington of Milan in 1953.
Survivors include her husband Rubert; four children, Susan Massengill Coleman of Corinth, Mississippi, Robert L. Ellington and Mary E. Wilkerson of Jackson, and Ben T. Ellington of Milan; and 12 grandchildren.

Imogene Pickle Barham
1926-2005
HENRY - Graveside services for Imogene Pickle Barham, 79, will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church cemetery in Henry on Wednesday, July 20.
Mrs. Barham died July 16.
She was born in South Fulton to the late James Alonzo and Florence Lee Conn Pickle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde E. Barham, and several brothers and sisters.
She was an avid artist and continued to paint after being struck with Parkinson's disease. She was an art teacher for Memphis Oral School for the Deaf and a member of Whitehaven Baptist Church in Memphis.
Survivors include a son, James T. "Ted" Barham of Memphis; two daughters, Patricia L. "Pat" Barham of Cheraw, South Carolina, and S. Jane Stewart of Henry; one brother, Max Pickle of Merrillville; one sister, Sarah P. Pfeiffer of Wichita, Kansas; and four grandchildren.

Ralph Edward Walker
1928-2005
McKENZIE - Ralph Edward Walker, 77, died early Tuesday morning, July 19, at his home. Funeral arrangements were incomplete at press time. McKenzie Funeral Home will be in charge.
Mr. Walker had 42 years of military experience, having enlisted in the United States Navy in March 1945 at the age of 17. He retired from the Milan Army Ammunition Plant on July 23, 1987. He served on the McKenzie Water Commission.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Todd Walker; a son, Johnny Walker, and a grandson, Todd Walker.

Gene Scott Baker
1965-2005
HOLLOW ROCK - Services for Gene Scott Baker, 40, were held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, July 30, at the Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Ellis officiating. Interment icon followed in the Jamison cemetery in Westport.
Mr. Baker, a tire repairman for Farmer's Co-Op, died Tuesday, July 26. He was a member of the Eastview Baptist Church.
He was born March 19, 1965, in Milan, to Aubrey Gene Baker of Huntingdon and Judy Elaine Fryer of Bruceton.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela Sanders Baker; one daughter, Crystal Martin of Parsons; three sons, Scott Baker, Michael Baker and Joey Baker, all of Hollow Rock; and one granddaughter.

Earl Wardell Hicks
1927-2005
GLEASON - Services for Earl Wardell Hicks, 77, were conducted at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 2, at Gleason Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Mike Jeffers officiating. Interment icon followed in Hopewell cemetery.
Mr. Hicks, who was disabled, died Monday, August 1, at Martin Medical Center.
He was born November 7, 1927, in Gleason, to the late Claude and Willie Dunlap Hicks.
Survivors include four sisters, Lyndrel Hutchison of Nashville, Wynona Denning of Garden City, Michigan, Lena Faye Courtright of Michigan, and Jo Ann Hobbs of Canton, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Doyle Hicks.

JoAnn Cravens Houston
1934-2005
PARIS - Services for JoAnn Cravens Houston, 70, were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 6, at Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Vance Rushing officiating. Interment icon followed in Hopewell cemetery.
Mrs. Houston, a department store clerk, died Thursday, August 4, at her daughter-in-law's home in McKenzie.
She was born November 19, 1934, in Gleason, to the late Joe Huey and Maggie Lois Heath Crocker. She was a member of the Gleason Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Tim Patton of Gleason and Tony Patton of McKenzie; a brother, Terry Cravens of McKenzie; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Betty Jean Butler
1947-2005
HERMITAGE: Graveside services for Betty Jean Butler, 57, were at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, at McCauley cemetery in Buena Vista with Brother Jerry Drye officiating. Ridgeway Funeral Home in Paris was in charge of the arrangements.
Miss Butler, a supervisor at Nashville Electric Service, died Sunday, March 6, at Summitt Medical Center in Hermitage.
She was born December 21, 1947, in McKenzie.
Survivors include her mother, Eula Gee Worrell Butler of Bruceton; a brother, Bobby Butler of McKenzie and several nieces and nephews, all of Henry.

Duward Lander Snyder
1913-2005
PARIS - Services for Duward Lander Snyder, 91, were at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 7, at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with the Reverends Jerry W. Massey and Charles Orr officiating. Interment icon followed in Maplewood cemetery.
Mr. Snyder, a retired metalworker for Ellis Heating Company, died Saturday, March 5, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris.
He was born July 1, 1913, in Paris, to the late George Washington Snyder and Eva Zanie Allen Snyder. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two stepsons, Don Matlock of Paris and Dennis Matlock of McKenzie; five step-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lavinia McFadden Snyder; a stepdaughter-in-law, Joyce Matlock; a sister, Ellie Hoofman; and two brothers, John David Snyder and William Howard Snyder.

Bernice Nixon Bodiford
1936-2005
SELMER: Services for Bernnice Nixon Bodiford, 68, were held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 7, at Shackelford Funeral Home in Selmer with interment icon in Sulphur Springs cemetery.
Mrs. Bodiford, widow of Ray Bodiford, died Sunday, March 6.
She was a member of the Fourth Street Church of Christ, executive committee member for the McNairy County Republican Party and former member of the McNairy Regional Hospital Board of Directors.
Survivors include a daughter, Rene Kizer of Henderson; a son, Richie Bodiford of Michie; a sister, Betty Ann Young of McKenzie; a brother, Danny Nixon of Ramer; and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to the Ray and Bernice Bodiford Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Home Banking Company in Selmer.

Lena B. Griffin
McKENZIE - Services for Lena B. Griffin, 92, were held Tusday, March 1, at 1:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield with Brother Dennis Beal officiating. Interment icon followed in Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Griffin, a homemaker, died Monday, February 28, at McKenzie Regional Hospital.
She was born September 6, 1912, in Gleason, to the late Joe Bynum and Bertie Crocker. She was preceded in death by her husband, O.B. Griffin.
Survivors include a son, L.J. Griffin of Greenfield and fifteen grandchildren.

Norman C. Sanders
1920-2004
HOLLOW ROCK - Services for Norman Clinoye Sanders, 84, were conducted on Saturday, July 17 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Steve Davis officiating. Interment icon followed in the Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Sanders died on Thursday, July 15 at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt after a battle with kidney disease.
He was born April 15, 1920 in Vale to the late Elus and Era Hutchison Sanders. He graduated from Bruceton High School and was a World War II navy veteran. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Hollow Rock, VFW Post #4349, American Legion Post #175, Masonic Lodge #288, Alchymia Shrine Temple in Memphis and also earned his Scottish Rite 32nd Degree.
Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Cypert of Jacksonville, Florida; one son, Norman E. Sanders of Jackson; two sisters, Christine Pickler of Buena Vista and Corlynn Sanders of Lexington; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
