Peggy Sue Smith
1934-2004
McKENZIE - Mrs. Peggy Sue Smith, 69, died Saturday, July 3 at her home. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 6 at the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Brothers Scott Carter and Phillip Halter officiating. Interment icon followed in Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Smith was born August 25, 1934 to the late Lucian and Dolly Britten Butler. She was a retired employee of Thomas Bradford and a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, William H. Smith of McKenzie; one son, David Smith of McKenzie; one daughter, Geniece Shands of Huntingdon; three grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Sibyl Moseley Grammer
1913-2004
MEMPHIS - Sibyl Marie Moseley Grammer, wife of Rhea Grammer, died on Tuesday, June 29 at Quince Nursing and Rehab Center in Memphis. Funeral services were held July 1 at Family Funeral Care in Memphis and a graveside service was held at Shiloh cemetery in McKenzie.
She was born September 6, 1913 to the late Tom and Urma Reynolds Moseley. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Joan Young Brandon, her parents and her brothers, J.T. Moseley of McKenzie and Richard Moseley of Memphis.
Survivors include many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was a long-time member of the Highland Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Memphis and of the Tennessee Poetry Society. She was a past contributor of "The Poets Corner" published in The McKenzie Banner.

Patricia Lee Edwards
1933-2003
McKENZIE - Services for Patricia Lee Edwards, 70, were at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 21 at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie with Rev. James D. McGuire officiating. Interment icon followed in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Ms. Edwards, a veterinarian assistant, dog groomer and former Mayor of McKenzie, died on Thursday, November 20 at McKenzie Regional Hospital. She was a member of the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church in McKenzie.
She was born April 16, 1933 in McKenzie to the late Maxine Raulstone Edwards and Benjamin Howard Edwards. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Ripley R. Edwards.
Survivors include a brother, Max M. 'Buddy' Edwards of McKenzie.

William Cullen Anderson, Jr.
1952-2003
GOLDEN VALLEY, ARIZONA: Mr. William Cullen Anderson, Jr. died on Sunday, November 9 at his home. A private memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Anderson was born May 30, 1952 in Dyersburg to the late William C. Anderson, Sr. and Sydney E. Gamble Anderson. He was a veteran and a machinist.
Survivors include his three children, Lizzie Anders, Leah Anderson Towater and Kris Anderson of Huntingdon; two sisters, Alice McMackins of Readyville and Janis Jones of McKenzie.

Leslie Eugene Altenberger
1932-2003
McKENZIE - Funeral services for Leslie Eugene Altenberger, 71, were Saturday, November 22 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cedar Avenue Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home. Burial was in Sunset cemetery in Dresden.
Mr. Altenberger died on Wednesday, November 19 at his residence. He was born in Karnak, Illinois, the son of the late Leslie and Alice Thrasher Altenberger.
He was a retired heavy equipment operator from Local 150 of Operating Engineers in Kankakee, Illinois. He was a U.S. Naval veteran, having served in the Korean War; a Mason and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Bray Warren Altenberger of McKenzie. They married on November 6, 1998; three sons and their wives, Lindell and Robin Altenberger, Leslie and Tonya Altenberger and Andrew and Cindy Altenberger, all of Kankakee, Illinois; his stepchildren, Lance and Jennifer Warren of McKenzie and Debbie Warren of Lexington; a sister, Pansy Mick of Michigan; a brother, Harold Altenberger of Flint, Michigan; ten grandchildren, Jason Altenberger, Joel Altenberger, Gina Altenberger, Alison Altenberger, Jamie Jo Altenberger, Emilie Altenberger, Abby Altenberger, all of Kankakee, Brian Cobb, Brandon Cobb and Blake Warren of McKenzie; and two great-grandchildren, Destiny and Brock Altenberger, both of Kankakee.
His first wife, the former Mary Sue Collins Altenberger, preceded him in death.

Aletress Bennett
1921-2003
PARIS - Aletress Bain Bennett, 82, died on Monday, November 17 at the Henry County Medical Center emergency room.
Her funeral was held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 20 at the McEvoy Funeral Home with Jeff Hardy from New Harmony Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery in Benton County.
Born August 17, 1921 in Benton County, she was the daughter of the late Will and Minnie Ward Bain. She was a homemaker and was married on January 1, 1939 to Hansel Woodrow Bennett, who died September 3 of this year.
Survivors include three daughters, Darnell Stallings of Puryear, Gail Malone of Henry and Janice O'Neill of Adrian Michigan; one son, Billy Gene Bennett of Paris; one brother, Aaron 'Ras' Bain of Benton County; fourteen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren. A sister, Blondell Smothers and two brothers, Carnell and Dick Bain preceded her in death.

Ader E. Cooper Lane
1913-2003
McKENZIE - Services for Ader E. Cooper Lane, 90, were at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 22 at the Brummitt Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Roberts officiating. Interment icon followed at Mt. Olivet cemetery in McKenzie.
Mrs. Lane, a homemaker, died at Jackson Regional Hospital on Wednesday, November 19. She was a member of the McKenzie Church of Christ.
She was born March 22, 1913 in Bradford to the late Octiva Cooper Nelson and William Cooper. She was also preceded in death by husbands Ira Cooper and Alton Lane; one son, James Cooper; two daughters, Mary Blaylock and Margaret Alice Cooper; three brothers, Clarence Cooper, Murray Cooper and Luther Cooper; two sisters, Ethel Reynolds and Imogene Boyd and one grandson, Ricky Blaylock.
Survivors include one son, Charles Cooper of Paris; three grandchildren, Shirley Harris, Michael Blaylock and Patrick Cooper; three step-grandchildren, Rosemary Lane, Albert Vassar and Linda Vasser; five great-grandchildren, two step-great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers included grandsons Michael Blaylock and Patrick Cooper; great-grandsons Josh Brewer and Jeremy Brewer, Dewayne Medlock and Bryan Gump.

Beulah Miller
1922-2003
MORRISTOWN - Former Paris resident Beulah H. 'Big Mama' Miller, 81, died Wednesday, November 19 at Lakeway Regional Hospital in Morristown. Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 22 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Thomas Winchester officiating. Interment icon followed in Memorial Gardens. Allen Funeral Home handed initial arrangements.
Born in Henry County on January 9, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Johnnie S. and Ora A. Morris Hardin. She married James L. Miller on January 9, 1938 and was widowed on July 13, 1966.
Mrs. Miller worked for 34 years at the Holley Carburetor Plant. She was a member of the Union Friendship Baptist Church, the VFW Auxiliary and Lioness Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Ann (Doyle) Shephard of Morristown; two sons, James 'Hardy' Miller of Paris and Robert Dale 'Scooter' (Beverly) Miller of McKenzie; one sister, Barbara E. Freid of Lubbock, Texas; one brother, Robert B. Hardin of Dallas; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded by a daughter-in-law, Jo Miller on November 10; one son in infancy and two sisters, Bernice Shanbaum and Beatrice Compton. The family requests memorials be given to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 672648, Marietta, Georgia 30006-0045.

Mamie Lillian Orr
1909-2003
McKENZIE - Services for Mamie Lillian Orr, 94, were at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 25 at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie with Bro. Fred Morris and Bro. Dennis Beal officiating. Interment icon followed in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mrs. Orr, a homemaker died Saturday, November 22 at McKenzie Healthcare.
She was born June 25, 1909 in Huntingdon to Goldie Mae Wilson and Waymond Wilson. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in McKenzie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Orr and a son, Murray Orr.
Survivors include a daughter, Rachel Blake of Lewisburg, Kentucky; a brother, Thelder Williams of Huntingdon; three sisters, Lillie Wilks of Huntingdon, Elizabeth Beard of Trezevant and Murline Gattis of Cullman, Alabama; grandchildren Becky Eason, Wesley Barlow, Ronnie Orr, Tony Orr and Brian Barlow; great-grandchildren Brad Eason, Stephen Eason, Mary Orr, Erika Barlow, Ashley Barlow and Jacob Barlow and one great-great-granddaughter, Amber Eason.

William Lloyd Garmany
1917-2003
TREZEVANT - Services for William Lloyd Garmany, 86, will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 26 at Brummitt Funeral Home in Trezevant with Bro. Mike Ridgley officiating. The body was cremated.
Mr. Garmany, a farmer, died Monday, November 24 at McKenzie Health Care Center.
He was born February 14, 1917 in Milan to the late Linnie Cantrell Garmany and Alley Garmany. He was a World War II Naval veteran.
Survivors include a son, Mitch (Emily) Garmany of Trezevant; a sister, Margaret McConnell of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, Greg Garmany and Sally (Mark) Arnold; and one great-grandchild, Alex Arnold.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Esta Barber Garmany.

Lois Carnell Shankle
1936-2003
FLIPPIN, ARKANSAS - Services for Lois Carnell Shankle, 67, a former resident of McKenzie and Memphis, will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 29 at the Cedar Avenue Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home with Reverends Eulas Greer and Keith Pence officiating. Interment icon will follow at Seminary cemetery in McKenzie.
Mr. Shankle died Monday, November 24 at Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was a construction superintendent, a 3rd Degree Mason and a member of Seminary Methodist Church and the Zaman Grotto Lodge in Memphis. He served in the Tennessee National Guard.
He was born June 11, 1936 in Pillowville to the late Hattie Lee Hall Shankle and Robert Luther Shankle.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Amerson Shankle of Flippin, Arkansas; three daughters, Debbie Carroll of Memphis, Stacey Shankle of Dresden and Sandy Brockwell of Clinton; two sons, Steven Shankle of Ft. Myers, Florida and Marion Mallett of Dover; three sisters, Sara Nell Kee of McKenzie, Rosie Stephens of Little Rock, Arkansas and Mary Harris of Memphis; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will begin Friday, November 28 at 5:00 p.m.

Chloe H. Throgmorton
1930-2003
A private service was conducted at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, December 5 at McEvoy Funeral Home for Chloe H. Throgmorton of Old McKenzie Highway near Henry with Dr. Gary S. Collier officiating. Interment icon followed in Bevil cemetery.
Mrs. Throgmorton, 73, died Tuesday, December 2 at Henry County Medical Center.
A Henry County native, she was born September 9, 1930 to the late James and Lula Howard McDaniel.
She was a homemaker and member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Henry V. Throgmorton, to whom she was married on November 5, 1958. She was also survived by one son, Mikey Throgmorton of Henry.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Zula Ard and Phylis Conway and one brother, Lester McDaniel.
