James David Bratton
1932-2003
SPRINGVILLE - Services for James David Bratton, 70, formerly of McKenzie, will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 23 at First Baptist Church in Milan. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery in McKenzie. Bodkin Funeral Home in Milan is in charge of arrangements. He died Sunday, April 20 at his home following several months of treatment for cancer.
Mr. Bratton currently served as a part-time officer with McKenzie Police Department and served as Chief of Police for Milan Police Department from December 1970 until his retirement there in May 1995.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, and a former member of the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police. Prior to accepting his post at Milan, he worked in Lansing, Michigan, and also as a police officer in McKenzie for about five years.
Survivors include his wife Carol Bratton; four daughters: Kay Coffman of Medina, Cindy Blausis of Michigan, Teresa Auvenshine of McKenzie and Paula Bratton of Nashville; three sons: Ricky Bratton of Bradford, Jackie Dunn of Jackson and Jimmy Dunn of Columbia; a sister, Geneva Orr of McKenzie; a brother, Clifton Bratton of McKenzie, twelve grandchildren and one great grandson.
The family requests memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation at Bodkin Funeral Home is set for 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 22.

Jimmy Washburn
1948-2003
TREZEVANT - Mr. Jimmy Washburn, 54, died on Monday, April 21 at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Services were incomplete at press time. Brummitt Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Velma Scruggs Hendricks
1912-2003
MILAN - Services for Mrs. Velma Scruggs Hendricks, 91, were at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 30 at Bodkin Funeral Home. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery in Milan.
Mrs. Hendricks, retired employee of Milan Army Ammunition Plant, died Friday, March 28 at NHC Healthcare in Milan.
She was the widow of Bruce Hendricks.
Surviving are a daughter, Glenda K. Bolton of Lavinia; a sister, Evora House of Cedar Grove; nine grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.

Robert (Bob) McLemore
1916-2003
LAVINIA - Services for Robert (Bob) McLemore, 86, were Monday, March 31 at 11:00 a.m. at Bodkin Funeral home with burial in the Lavinia cemetery.
Mr. McLemore died Friday, March 28 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He retired from the Milan Arsenal after 35 years of service to continue raising beef cattle. He was a 1937 graduate of Milan High School where he was All West Tennessee basketball and football player and also was inducted into the Gibson County Sports Hall of Fame in 1997. He was a member of the Lavinia Baptist Church and a member of the Woodmen of the World.
Mr. McLemore was born in Lavinia on September 13, 1916, the son of the late Jeff and Lula Barger McLemore. He was a life-long resident of Lavinia.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Banks McLemore and Adron McLemore, one sister, Beatrice Cook and one grandson, Michael Allen Davis.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Longmire McLemore; one daughter, Shelia Davis of Milan; one son, Marcus McLemore of Savannah, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Annie G. Vaughn
1915-2005
McKENZIE - Annie G. Vaughn, 90, died Monday, December 19, at Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Services will be held Friday, December 23, at 2:00 p.m. at the Cedar Avenue Chapel of the McKenzie Funeral Home. Interment icon will follow at Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mrs. Vaughn was born July 1, 1915, in Weakley County, to the late Elisha and Cora Wilson Aylor. She was a factory worker.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James T. Vaughn.
She is survived by three sons: Emery Michael Vaughn and Lowell T. Vaughn, both of McKenzie, and Roger Vaughn of Florida; and five grandchildren.

Robert B. Hampton
1923-2005
McKENZIE - Robert B. Hampton, 82, died Monday, December 19 at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Services will be held Wednesday, December 21, at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow in Mt. Olivet cemetery. Brummitt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hampton was born April 29, 1923, in Crockett County, to the late Ben Hampton and Lizzie Blount Hampton. He was a member of the Assembly of God in McKenzie and was retired from Gaines Manufacturing Company, wood products division.
He is preceded in death by his first wife Opal Reynolds Hampton; one son, Robert Lee Hampton; and one brother, Barney Hampton.
He is survived by his wife, Lera Eubank Hampton; four step-daughters: Nellie Spencer of McKenzie, Margie Murphy of Jackson, Juanita Knake of Jackson, and Judy Reed of Kenton; one sister, Pauline Sellers of McKenzie; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three nieces; and seven nephews.

Jimmie Russell "Pappy" Wiles
1934-2005
PARIS - Jimmie Russell "Pappy" Wiles, 70, died Saturday, December 18, at Henry County Medical Center. Services were Tuesday, December 20, in the LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Guy McCombs officiating. Interment icon followed in Hillcrest cemetery in Paris,
Mr. Wiles was owner and operator of Wiles Welding and Machine Shop since 1976, a former Board of Public Utilities employee for 19 years, and attended First Christian Church in Paris.
He was born December 19, 1934, in Mena, Arkansas, to James Russell Wiles and Beatrice Kessinger Wiles, both deceased.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Bonnie Kemp Wiles; two daughters, Karon Wimberley of Huntsville, Alabama and Lisa Kay Fitzsimmons of Paris; two sons, Ralph (Debbie) Wiles of Paris and Joseph R. "Rusty" (Lisa) Wiles of Springville; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one step-grandchild.

John "Jack" Andrew Fitzgerald, Jr.
1924-2005
McKENZIE - John "Jack" Andrew Fitzgerald Jr., 81, died Thursday, December 17, at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Services were held Monday, December 19, at McKenzie Funeral Home with the Revs. Dennis Trull and Vance Rushing officiating. Interment icon followed at Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mr. Fitzgerald was born August 2, 1924, in Jackson to the late John A. Fitzgerald Sr. and Lorrine Ware Fitzgerald. He was a civil engineer and a member of the First Baptist Church in McKenzie.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Smith Fitzgerald; one daughter, Diane Crowder of Rolla, Missouri; one son, John I. Fitzgerald of Humboldt; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Gertrude May Early
1915-2005
McKENZIE - Gertrude May Earley, 90, died Friday, December 16, at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Graveside services were held Saturday, December 17, with the Rev. Edward Eubanks officiating. Burial followed in Everett Chapel cemetery. Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Earley was born December 3, 1915, in Chatham, Ontario, to David and Rose Chelcraft Thompson, both deceased. She was a retired secretary for a funeral home in Harlingen, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Roger Earley Sr.
She is survived by one son, Harry R. Earley Jr. of McKenzie; one daughter, Donna Hoffner of Mt. Clemons, Michigan; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Natalie Darnall Pinckley
1910-2005
HUNTINGDON - Mrs. Natalie Darnall Pinckley, 95, died Friday, December 16, at Life Care Center. Funeral services were conducted Monday, December 19, at the Huntingdon Church of Christ with Brother Dan Winker officiating. Interment icon followed in the Roans Creek cemetery. Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Pinckley was born May 29, 1910, to the late Wallace William and Pearl Carter Darnall. She was owner and operator of The Natalie Shop, and a member of the Huntingdon Church of Christ and Huntingdon BPW Club. She was preceded in death by a son, James Pinckley; three brothers: Bill Darnall, Marshall Darnall, and Norman Darnall; and five sisters: Mildred Demoss, Ruby Rhodes, Doris Stewart, Dorothy Durden, and Kate Darnall.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jesse Pinckley of Huntingdon; one daughter, Sharon Bolen of Huntingdon; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Jerry Malone Thompson
1945-2005
CEDAR GROVE - Jerry Malone Thompson, 60, died Thursday, December 15, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. Services were held Saturday, December 17, at Reeds Chapel in Lexington. Burial followed in Independence cemetery. Reed Funeral was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Thompson was a construction worker.
Survivors include a special friend, Ellen Hobbs of Cedar Grove; three daughters: Rhonda Grammer and Paula Thompson of Jackson and Tammy Lee of Dyersburg; three sisters: Bea Williams and Sandra Stanhope of Cedar Grove and Dorothy Abell of Nashville; and three grandchildren.

Ruth Ann Kee
1946-2005
McKENZIE - Ruth Ann Kee, 59, died Thursday, December 15, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a long fight with cancer. Services were held Sunday, December 18, at Long Heights Baptist Church with Brother Kenny Carr officiating. McKenzie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Kee was born January 27, 1946 in Yuma, to F.A. and Irene Phelps Taylor, both deceased. She was an accounts payable clerk at Norandal in Huntingdon and a member of Long Heights Baptist Church in McKenzie.
She leaves behind her husband of 44 years, Kenneth Kee; three children: Steve (Tina) Kee of McKenzie, Lorrie (Mike) Brown of McKenzie, and Stacy (Chris) Arnold of Jackson; nine grandchildren: Mary Beth (Greg) Scott of Henry, Chad Brown, Benji Kee, Emily Kee, Clint Kee, and Drew Brown, all of McKenzie, and Jordyn Pickett of Jackson; and two great-grandsons, Carson and Chandler Scott of Henry.
She had seven brothers and sisters: Joy Taylor of Huntingdon, Barbara Wilson of Mayfield, Kentucky, Barry Taylor of Vale, Kathy Reynolds of Huntingdon, Wanda McMackin of Vale, Lynn Milam of Huntingdon, and Tony Taylor of Huntingdon.

John Daffron
1947-2005
CEDAR GROVE - John Daffron, 58, died Wednesday, December 14, at his residence in Cedar Grove. Graveside services were held Friday, December 16 at the Pleasant Hill cemetery in Lavinia. Bodkin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Daffron was the owner and operator of Lexington Printing.
He is survived by a son, John Christopher Daffron of Naples, Florida; a daughter, Holly Nance McCorkle of Jackson; and two sisters, Vivian (Hudie) Dickerson of Jackson and Donna Gurley of Anderson, South Carolina.
The family request memorials to be directed to the Jackson Humane Society, 3107 Paul Coffman Drive, Jackson, TN 38301.
