Ralph D. McCoy
1907-2004
HENRY - Services for Ralph D. McCoy, 97, were at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2 at Henry Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry Drye officiating. Burial was in Henry cemetery.
Mr. McCoy, retired lumber grader and timber buyer died on Sunday, May 30 at Henry County Medical Center.
He was born February 27, 1907 in Kemper County, Mississippi to the late Oscar McCoy and Jettie McClellan McCoy. He was a member of Henry Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mabel Gooch McCoy; two daughters, Evelyn Patterson of Greenville and Rebecca Cathey of Memphis; three sons David McCoy of Paris; Douglas McCoy of Knoxville and Steve McCoy of Henry; nine grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers. Memorials may be made to Henry Baptist Church.

Hezekiah Bryant, Sr.
1917-2003
BRUCETON - Graveside services for Hezekiah Bryant, Sr., 86, were at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 30 at Prospect cemetery in Hollow Rock with the Rev. Phillip Halter officiating.
Mr. Bryant, a retired farmer and former Desoto County deputy, died Sunday, December 28 at Baptist-Desoto County Hospital in Southaven, Mississippi.
He was born July 14, 1917 in Seminary, Mississippi, to the late James Franklin Bryant and Ettie Holmes Bryant. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters Thelma Walker of Huntingdon and Rosa Kahlor of Enid, Mississippi; six sons, Stafford Bryant of Shreveport, Louisiana, Gary Bryant of Forsyth, Georgia, Hezekiah Bryant, Jr. of Sardis, Mississippi, Kenneth Bryant of Lake Cormorant, Mississippi, Roger Bryant of Huntingdon and Tim Bryant of Nesbit, Mississippi; three sisters, Ethel Russell of Moscow, Rutha Russell of Winnsboro, Louisiana and Lucille Davis of Pineville, Louisiana; a brother, Abner Bryant of Tyler, Texas, 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Lorena Bryant and a son, Michael Bryant.

Roger Nathan Roberts
1944-2005
HUNTINGDON - Mr. Roger Nathan Roberts, 60, of Huntingdon, passed away Monday, January 17, at his home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 19, at 1:00 p.m. at the Huntingdon First United Methodist Church. Interment icon will follow in the Oak Hill cemetery. Dr. Paul Mullikin will officiate the service.
Mr. Roberts was born August 21, 1944 in Clarksburg to the late Raymond Bryant Roberts and Nellie (Reed) Roberts. He retired from the Huntingdon Police Force after twenty-four years of service, graduated from the Police Academy in 1981, was the operation and training officer for the Civil Defense of Carroll County, owned and operated the Silver Grill restaurant on the court square during the 90s, a locksmith in his off-duty hours, a member of the Huntingdon First United Methodist Church, Jaycees of Huntingdon, Fraternal Order of Police and the local chapter representative, Child Fatality Review Team for the 24th Judicial District, and the Huntingdon Rotary Club. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Rae Ann Roberts.
He is survived by his wife, who he married January 23, 1965, Joyce June (Murray) Roberts; one daughter, Ginger Darlene Roberts of Huntingdon; one son, Charles Ray "Chuck" Roberts (wife Janica) of Arlington; two sisters, Rachael Deaton (husband Jim) of New Market and Diane Rich (husband Paul) of Huntingdon; three brothers, Ross Roberts (wife Tracey) of Mt. Juliet, Robin Roberts of Hermitage, and Ray Roberts of Nashville.

Paula Kaye Arnold
1958-2005
GLEASON - Services for Paula Kaye Arnold, 46, were at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 15, at Gallimore Funeral Home, with the Rev. Donald Doster officiating. Burial was in Hopewell cemetery.
Mrs. Arnold, a homemaker, died Wednesday, January 12, at McKenzie Regional Hospital.
She was born March 16, 1958, in Dresden, to the late Herchell Lee and Lela Halloween Roberts Gallimore. She was a member of Davis Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Keith Arnold; four sons: Brent Arnold, Chad Arnold, Ryan Arnold, and Cory Arnold, all of Gleason; three brothers: Ronald Gallimore, Gerry Gallimore and Terry Gallimore, all of Dresden; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Patsy Boane and Linda Spain.

Ethel Beasley
1907-2005
DRESDEN - Services for Ethel Beasley, 97, were at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 16, at Gallimore Funeral Chapel in Gleason, with the Rev. Dale Mathis officiating. Burial was in New Valley cemetery.
Mrs. Beasley died Friday, January 14, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
She was born January 21, 1907, in Gleason, to the late Oscar and Mattie Price Williams. She was a member of New Valley Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice Lamb of Dresden; two half-brothers, Johnny Montgomery and Tommy Montgomery, both of Lansing, Michigan; a half-sister, Opal Taylor of Paris; three grandchildren: Donna Hickman, Jessica Hickman, and Greg Lamb; and two great-grandchildren, Kendra Lamb and Chase Lamb.

Frances Watson
1937-2005
McKENZIE - Frances Rachel Watson, 67, of McKenzie, died September 20 at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Funeral services were conducted September 22 at Brummitt Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Claude Prince officiating. Interment icon followed in Caledonia cemetery, McKenzie.
Mrs. Watson was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. She was born December 22, 1937, the daughter of Lula Ethel Walraven Laughlin and Richard Laughlin, both deceased.
She is survived by two sons, Willie Laughlin and Jerry (Betty) Laughlin, both of McKenzie; three daughters, Brenda Harris of McLemoresville, Virginia Mealer of Memphis, and Lula (Ralph) Carroll of Cedar Grove; her significant other, Paul Chandler of McKenzie; three sisters, Louise Sanders and Ann Berry, both of Bethel Springs, and Delphia Spain of Bolivar; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roma Watson; one son, Charlie Parker; three brothers, Burt Laughlin, Bill Laughlin, and Grady Laughlin; one sister Kathren Vanderbilt; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Doris Hilliard
1929-2005
HUNTINGDON - Doris Sue Hilliard, 76, of Huntingdon, died September 20 at her home. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, September 22, in the chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Bro. George Hill and Bro. Fred Ward officiating. Interment icon followed in the New Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church cemetery.
Mrs. Hilliard was born February 28, 1929 in Carroll County, to the late Forrest McKinley and Allie Cash Rich. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Huntingdon.
She is preceded in death by two sisters, Brooxie Bennett and Hazel Rowlette, and one brother, William Rich.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James Earl Hilliard; three daughters, Phyllis (Bobby) Smith and Denise (Gale) Pendergrass, both of Huntingdon, and Tami (Lee) Lancaster of Memphis. She also leaves five grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, one step-grandson, one great-granddaughter, and one brother, Gene (Doris) Rich of Huntingdon.

Mary K. O'Brien
1955-2005
PARRISH, FLORIDA - Mary Kathryn "Snooky" O'Brian, 49, formerly of Henry and Martin, died September 11 at her home after an apparent heart attack. Funeral services were conducted September 23 at Brown & Sons Funeral Home in Bradenton, Florida. The Very Rev. Edward D. Moretti officiated. Entombment followed in Mansion Memorial Park in Ellenton, Florida.
Ms. O'Brien was born December 6, 1955, in Memphis, to Scyble Agent Crawford of Henry and the late John B. Crawford III, who died April 19, 2005.
As a child she was selected Little Miss Memphis.While living in Henry, Mrs. O'Brian graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin. She and her husband, Stephen O'Brien, who survives, moved from Martin to Parrish in 1990, where they became partners with the O'Brian family in a produce company.
She also leaves a son, Kevin O'Brien of Parrish; a brother, Gerald (Cindy) Crawford of Florence, Alabama; a sister, Joan Crawford (James) Pritchett of Martin; her in-laws, "Marty" and Barbara O'Brien of Bradenton; three nephews; five great-nephews; four great-nieces; two brother-in-laws; and two sisters-in-law.

Brenda Mae Pearson Obarakpor
1950-2005
HOUSTON, TEXAS: Brenda Mae (Pearson) Obarakpor, 55, formerly of Huntingdon, died Monday, September 19, at the Ben Taub General Hospital in Houston.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, September 24, 2:00 p.m. at the Huntingdon Christian Fellowship Church. Interment icon followed in the Parkers Chapel cemetery. Pastor Troy Cox officiated the service.
Mrs. Obarakpor was born July 20, 1950, in Carroll County, to the late Lois Pearson and Hester Mae Weathers Pearson. She was a collection representative for LTD Financial Services and a member of Clark Street Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Beverly Pearson Montgomery and Alma Jean Pearson Johnson.
She is survived by one daughter, Melissa Knight and one son, Anthony Matthews, both of Atlanta, Georgia; two sisters, Janice Grainger of Louisville, Kentucky and Willodean Ford of Huntingdon; three brothers, Cleotus Pearson of Huntingdon and Marvin Ray Pearson and James Pearson, both of Gary, Indiana; four grandchildren; a special friend, Earl Witherspoon; and a host of nieces and nephews.

William Alvin "Billy" Sellers
1930-2005
HUNTINGDON - William Alvin "Billy" Sellers, 75, died Friday, September 23, at his home. Funeral services were Monday, September 26, at 2:00 p.m. at the Christian Chapel Church of Christ. Interment icon followed in the church cemetery. Bro. David Sellers officiated the services.
Mr. Sellers was born May 23, 1930, in Carroll County, to the late Alvin Thomas Sellers and Fannie Mae Sellers. He was a logger, sawmill operator, and a truck driver before he retired, a member of the Christian Chapel Church of Christ, and a Korean War Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by infant twin sons, James Loyd Sellers and Jackie Doyle Sellers; one half-sister, Mattie King; and two half-brothers, Ray Sellers and Arthur Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie (Eskew) Sellers, whom he married August 9, 1947; one daughter, Sherry Haywood of Huntingdon; four sons, Dennis Sellers of Goodletsville, Mike Sellers of Lexington, and Terry Sellers and Doug Sellers, both of Huntingdon; four sisters, Dorothy Martin, Gertie Dunn, and Nellie Myers, all of Cedar Grove, and Shelby Laws of Palestine, Illinois; one half sister, Mildred Gregg of Huntingdon; three brothers, Thomas Sellers of Huntingdon, George Sellers of Cedar Grove, and Dean Sellers of Huntingdon; and nine grandchildren.

Jimmie Joe Fitzgerald
1942-2005
McKENZIE - Services for Jimmie Joe Fitzgerald, 62, were held Sunday, April 3, at 4:00 p.m. in the Cedar Avenue Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home with Rev. John Carlock officiating. Interment icon followed in Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Fitzgerald, a self-employed electrician and plumber and a former employee for BellSouth Telephone Company, died Friday, April 1 at his residence. He was a native of Stewart County, born in Erin September 18, 1942 to the late Clyde Fitzgerald and Virgie Norwood Fitzgerald. He was a member of the Union Grove Baptist Church, Am-Vets and the American Legion, and a United States Marine Corps veteran, serving from 1962-63.
Survivors include a son, Jimmy Joe 'Joey' Fitzgerald, Jr. and wife Shana; a grandson; a step-granddaughter; two sisters, Carolyn Hickman of Camden and Willie Mae Anderson of McKenzie; and special friend Donna Pate.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Coleman, and a brother, Paul Fitzgerald.

Mary Jane Arnold Smith
1931-2005
McKENZIE - Services for Mary Jane Arnold Smith, 73, were held Monday, April 4, at 2:00 p.m. in the Cedar Avenue Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home with Rev. Vance Rushing officiating.
Mrs. Smith, a homemaker, died Thursday, March 31, at McKenzie Health Care Center where she resided. She was a native of McKenzie.
She was born November 24, 1931, to the late Comer Kirkland Arnold and Artie Mae Reeder Arnold. She was a member of McKenzie First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Arnold Smith of Milan and George Smith of Arlington; and two brothers, Billy Reeder Arnold of Lexington and Bobby Thomas Arnold of Tacoma, Washington.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Smith, and a grandchild.
