Curtis Hopper "Red" Summers
1914-2005
McKENZIE - Curtis Hopper "Red" Summers, 91, died Tuesday, October 25, at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Funeral services were conducted October 29 in the Cedar Avenue Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home with Bro. Tony Janner officiating. Interment icon was in Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Summers was born October 11, 1914, in Henry, to the late Ira Curtis and Annie Baucum Summers. He was a retired Bethel College professor and owner of Golf, Etc. in McKenzie. He was a member of the McKenzie First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, McKenzie Rotary Club, and International Brotherhood of Magicians.
He is survived by one daughter, Alice Summers of McKenzie; one brother, Ray Summers of Trenton; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Johnson Summers; one grandson, Paul Hauch; two brothers, R.B. Summers and Howard Summers; and one sister, Dorothy Summers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Mary Maxine Renfroe
1922-2005
McKENZIE - Mary Maxine Renfroe, 83, died Monday, October 24, at Oak Manor Health Care Center in McKenzie. Services were conducted October 28 at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie with Bro. Thomas E. Duffy officiating. Interment icon followed in Union Academy cemetery.
Mrs. Renfroe was born June 7, 1922 in Henderson County, to James C. and Ruby Cary Rainey, both deceased. She was a retired bookkeeper.
She is survived by one son, Daniel Price Renfroe of Nashville; one daughter, Tammy (Andy) Rudolph of Franklin; two sisters, Hazel Melton of Martin and Sue Cary of Cincinnati, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Price Rudolph, Emily Rudolph, and Amy Rudolph.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Renfroe, and one brother, Walter Rainey.

Col. James R. Turpen
1930-2005
FLORIDA - Col. James R. Turpen, 75, died Friday, October 21, in Shalimar, Florida. A memorial service was held October 27 at Shalimar United Methodist Church in Florida. Interment icon with full honors will be held at Arlington National cemetery in Washington, D.C. at 9:00 a.m. on November 21.
Col. Turpen was born February 14, 1930 to the late Robert and Katherine Turpen. He was a career Air Force fighter pilot, flying 164 combat missions during the Vietnam War.
He began his career in the National Guard from 1947-1950 and began his real career for the U.S. Air Force in 1950. He entered pilot training in 1951, after which he was commissioned.
He received a bachelor's degree in business from Indiana University and a master's degree in political science from Auburn University, while carrying on his pilot career.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Peggy Dotson Turpen (formerly of McKenzie) of Shalimar, Florida; two sons, Steve (Gayle) Turpen of Danville, California, and David Turpen of Destin, Florida; one daughter, Beverly (Richard) McNally of Shalimar; and five grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family ask donations be made in the Turpen name to the Air Force Aid Society. Contact information is available at Eglin Air Force Base.

Floyd Harding Gentle
1920-2005
BRUCETON - Floyd Harding Gentle, 84, died Monday, October 17, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Services were conducted October 19 at Bruceton Church of Christ with Timothy Gentle officiating. Burial was in Cedar Hill cemetery in Scottsboro, Alabama.
Mr. Gentle was born December 6, 1920, in Langston, Ala., to Solomon Gentle and Alice Shelton Gentle, both deceased. He was a World War II Army veteran and a full time minister for 35 years.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Gentle, who resides at Lifecare Bruceton; one daughter, Lucretia Kay McNees of Fayette County, Alabama; four sons: Floyd Larry Gentle of Asheboro, North Carolina, Bruce Gentle of Vernon, Alabama, Timothy Gentle of Charlotte, Tennessee, and Ted Gentle of Bruceton; one sister, Laura Aelvage of Scottsboro, Alabama; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Bruceton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jordan O'Neal Wyatt
2004-2005
HUNTINGDON - Graveside services for Jordan O'Neal Wyatt, 11 months, were held Friday, April 1, at 2:00 p.m. at the Christian Chapel cemetery with Bro. Fred Ward officiating.
Jordan died Tuesday, March 29, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
He was born April 11, 2004 in McKenzie.
Survivors include his parents, Anthony Wyatt and Shawna Yundt, both of Huntingdon; his maternal grandparents, David and Sherry Yundt and paternal grandparents, Linda Kirchner and Larry Wyatt, all of Huntingdon; and paternal great-grandmother, Joyce Whitehead of Chicago, Illinois.

Joe Harold Alexander
1933-2005
DRESDEN - Graveside services for Joe Harold Alexander, 72, were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 1, at West Union cemetery in Dresden with Rev. Roy Auvenshine and Rev. Gene Price officiating.
Mr. Alexander, a retired farmer, died Tuesday, March 29, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He was born February 7, 1933, in Gleason to the late Ira Alexander and Lula Underwood Alexander. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Alexander; a stepson, Bruce Allen Gordon; one daughter, Vickie Marie Chappell; and one sister, Norma Jean Perkins.
Survivors include one son, Terry Wayne Alexander of Greenfield; two stepsons, Eric Gordon of Gleason and Michael Gordon of Revere, Massachusetts; two daughters, Joy Lynn Alexander of Trezevant and Jamie Suzanne 'Suzie' Alexander of South Hampton, Virginia; one brother, Lendell Alexander of Dresden; one sister, Rebecca Verdell of Gleason; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Gerald Pinson
1927-2005
LEBANON, MISSOURI: Services for Gerald Pinson, 77, formerly of Atwood, were conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 1 at Brummitt Funeral Home in Trezevant. Interment icon followed in Pisgah cemetery in Atwood.
Mr. Pinson, a retired supervisor for General Motors/Fisher Body Division in Chicago, died Sunday, March 27, at St. John's Hospital in Lebanon.
He was born November 27, 1927, in Carroll County to the late Claude B. Pinson and Corrine Joyner Pinson. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean Conflict, and attended Trezevant High School.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Little Pinson; one son, Gerald S. Pinson of Hopedale, Illinois; one daughter, Deborah Lynn Cope of Batavia, Illinois; three brothers, Claude B. Pinson of Atwood and Billy R. Pinson, both of Atwood and Gray Pinson of Humboldt; two grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CMAA (Central Missouri Area Agency on Aging) in care of Respite Service, 1121 Business Loop, 70 East Suite 2A, Columbia, Missouri 65201.

Josie Haltorn
1917-2005
HUNTINGDON - Josie Haltorn, 88, died Saturday, September 24, at Jackson Madison Transitional Center. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, in the chapel of Dilday Funeral Home. Interment icon will follow in Barr Springs cemetery.
Mrs. Haltom was born June 9, 1917, in Hickman County, Kentucky, to the late Virgil C. and Mary Thomason. She was a member of the Mudd Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Billy Joe Fuller of Tampa, Florida, and James Richard Fuller of Phoenix, Arizona; two sisters, Dorothy Walley of Arkansas and Sue Waddle of Huntingdon; 11 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Wallace E. Grimes
1936-2005
MILAN - Wallace E. Grimes, 69, died Saturday, September 24, at NHC Healthcare. Funeral Services were held Tuesday, September 27, at Bodkin Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Potts officiating. Burial was in Walnut Grove cemetery.
Mr. Grimes was a retired employee of D&L Corp in Milan.
He was born February 15, 1936, in Gibson County, to the late Wallace Montgomery Grimes and Josephine Edwards Grimes. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a Baptist in belief.
Survivors include his wife, Pearl Grimes; three daughters, Gail Privett of Humboldt, Jennifer Warren of McKenzie, and Beverly Duke of Bradford; a step-daughter, Samantha McClain of Milan; and nine grandchildren.

Roger Williams
1962-2005
HUNTINGDON - Roger Williams, 42, died Saturday, September 17 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 23, at Faith Deliverance Ministries in Huntingdon. Burial was in Humble cemetery.
Mr. Williams was born November 14, 1962 in Carroll County. He was a member of the Second Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America in Huntingdon.
Survivors include his mother, Betty L. Williams; two daughters, Shy-Rieka Amari Williams and Nyrobi Albenonne Lay'sha Williams; one step-daughter, La'Sonya F. Wright; two brothers, Paul Williams and Gregory Williams; two sisters, Shelia Williams of Paris and Doris Williams Longmire of Huntingdon; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Joe Williams, and a brother, Richard Joe Williams.

Wade Thomas (Tommie) Hill
1909-2005
KNOXVILLE - Tommie Hill, 95, died September 19 in Knoxville, less than two weeks before his 96th birthday. Services were held at Palmer Shelter Methodist Church, Purdy Road, on Thursday, September 22. Burial followed in the Palmer Shelter cemetery.
Mr. Hill was born October 1, 1909, in Huntingdon, to Manda Lee and Roscoe Bates Hill. He married Iva Pauline Vickers on June 21, 1933. She died in 1968. He married Ruby Adams in 1971. She died in 1989. He was an active member of the Palmer Shelter Methodist Church for over 50 years.
He served in Germany and France with Company A, 45th Signal Corps, United States Army, during World War II. Citations and awards include the Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European Africa/Middle East Service Medal with Two Bronze Stars, and the American Service Medal.
He worked at the Texaco gasoline distributorship in Huntingdon and later owned the DX distributorship with Harold Brewer. After retiring from business, he farmed for two decades.
He is preceded in death by his brother, James Bayless Hill, and sisters, Ivy Hill Perritt and Lela Mae Hill Chandler.
He is survived by a sister, Mary Laverne Kirk of Memphis; one son, James T. (J.T.) Hill of Knoxville; one granddaughter; and a brother-in-law, Bob Vickers of Huntingdon.

Pauline Ross Jones
1913-2005
ATWOOD - Pauline Ross Jones, 92, died Tuesday, September 20 at her residence in Hammond, Indiana. Funeral services were held Saturday, September 24, at Bodkin Funeral Home in Milan with the Rev. Aaron Holmes officiating. Burial was in Pisgah cemetery.
Mrs. Jones, a retired employee of W.S.W. Pajama Factory in Atwood and a retired cook for the West Carroll High School in Atwood, was born April 6, 1913 in Cabot, Arkansas, to the late Pearl Lentz and Scott Ross. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Atwood. She was the widow of Fred Jones.
Survivors include three sons: Charles Dewberry of Water Valley, Mississippi, Robert Ross Dewberry of San Antonio, Texas, and Freddie Joe Jones of Atwood; two daughters, Gladys Wilson of Athens, Alabama and Evelyn Bevill of Hammond, Alabama; a sister, Lucille Bell of Atwood; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
