Gary Wallace Powley
1948-2005
Paris: Services for Gary Wallace Powley, 56, were at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 16, at First United Methodist Church, with Randy Stephens, Roger Black, John Dale, and Rev. Guy McCombs officiating. Burial was in Memorial cemetery.
Mr. Powley, who was a broadcaster and worked in sales for station W.T.P.R./W.A.K.Q for 13 years, died Friday, January 14, at Henry County Medical Center. He was a U.S. Army veteran during the Vietnam era, stationed in South Korea, and a member of Helping Hands, Relay for Life, and several other organizations. He was a member of Sulphur Wells Church of Christ.
He was born December 12, 1948, in Hollow Rock.
Survivors include his wife, Patty Powley; his mother, Irene Starks Powley; one daughter, Shyanna Frazee of Woodstock, Georgia; three sons: Crispin Powley of Lavergne, Dylan Powley of Paris and Damon Nash of Goodlettsville; and a sister, Denise Umstead of Huntingdon.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wallace Powley, and a sister, Diane Rogers.

Viola Lavinia Crider
1914-2005
HOLLOW ROCK - Mrs. Viola Lavinia Crider, 90, died Monday, January 10, at her home.
Funeral services were Wednesday, January 12, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment icon was in the David Chapel cemetery. Bro. Steve Davis and Bro. Joe Abbott officiated the service.
Mrs. Crider was born August 2, 1914, in Smithville, to the late Robert and Bertha (Sanling) Byford. She was a homemaker and a member of the Marlboro Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Crider; two daughters, Larue Wafford and Wanda Hardin; and three sons: Justin Lee Crider, Joe Crider and Glenn Crider.
She is survived by five daughters: Mae Helen Shelby, Margie Bridges, Dora Dobson, and Estelle Glisson, all of Hollow Rock, and Kathy Russell of Bruceton; three sons: Hubert Crider, Jr., James Crider and Paul Crider, all of Hollow Rock; fifteen grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren.

Elsie Nell Hudson
1949-2005
Elsie Nell Hudson, 55, died January 12, at Paris Manor Nursing Home in Paris after an extended illness.
Funeral services were Saturday, January 15, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Funeral Home, with Rev. John C. Campbell Pastor of Evergreen Baptist Church in Springville officiating.
Elsie Nell was born October 31, 1949, in Paris, to the late Jim Rowe and Hassie Lee Palmer Rowe.
She was employed at the Tecumseh plant for seven years. She is a 1969 graduate of Central High School.
She is survived by son Kevin Kevon (LeAne) Hudson of McKenzie, 2 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, and brother, Jimmy Rowe.

George E. Stanford
ATWOOD - Services for George E. Stanford, 61, were at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 13, at Bodkin Funeral Home in Milan. Burial was in Pisgah cemetery.
Mr. Stanford, a retired police dispatcher, died Tuesday, January 11, at Oak Manor Healthy Care in McKenzie. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Atwood.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Stanford; a son, Mark Griffin of Atwood; a sister, Linda Elkins of Germantown, and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa McCartney, and sister, Clydean Fitch.
The family requests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church in Atwood.

Carrie Marie Vickers
HUNTINGDON - Funeral services were held Friday, January 14, at Dilday Funeral Home for Carrie Marie Vickers.
Mrs. Vickers, 87, died January 11. Rev. Robert Lawrence officiated the service with burial in Liberty All cemetery.
Mrs. Vickers was a homemaker and a member of Liberty All Methodist Church.
She was the daughter of the late Isaac and Mattie Brandon. She was married to the late Herbie Vickers.
Survivors include three nieces, two nephews, numerous great-nieces, nephews, cousins, special close friends and neighbors.

Virginia Mae Reed
1930-2005
HUNTINGDON - Mrs. Virginia Mae Reed, 74, died Friday, January 14, at her home.
Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, January 16, at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Dilday Funeral Home. Interment icon followed in the Walnut Grove cemetery in Trenton. Brother Lynn Stapleton officiated the services.
Mrs. Reed was born October 14, 1930, to the late Henry Earl and Eltha Morgan. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Reed, who died December 23, 1997; two sons, Patrick Reed and Robert Reed; four brothers: Paul Morgan, Hardie Morgan, Ace Morgan, and Gene Morgan; and two sisters, Hazel Datson and Wynetta Harp.
She is survived by two sons, James W. Reed of Evansville, Indiana, and Michael Reed of Huntingdon; two brothers, John Morgan of Trenton and Tyray Morgan of Chicago, Illinois; and two sisters, Joyce and Louise West of Skullbone. She also leaves three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

John Prater
1921-2005
Mr. John Prater, 83, formerly of Huntingdon, died Thursday, January 13, at the Summitt Medical Center in Hermitage.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, January 15, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Dilday Funeral Home. Interment icon followed in the Shiloh cemetery in Natchez Trace Park. Brother Johnny Boyd and Brother Wayne Prater officiated the services.
Mr. Prater was born September 6, 1921, in Carroll County, to the late Herb and Bessie Burns Prater. He was a self-employed millwright and a World War II veteran.
He is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Garlits and Bonnita Bonnell-Rich, both of Old Hickory; a son, David Prater of Holladay; 7 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Joe Kenneth Glisson
1935-2004
HUNTINGDON - Graveside committal services for Mr. Joe Kenneth Glisson, 69, will be Saturday, January 22, at 2:00 p.m. in the Shiloh cemetery near McKenzie with Rev. Jim McGuire officiating.
Mr. Glisson, an operations research analyst for the Department of Defense, died Friday, November 26, 2004, at Lifecare in Bruceton. He donated his body to science. He was a native of Huntingdon, born May 21, 1935, to the late William Edward Glisson and Lula Gay Smothers Glisson. Mr. Glisson also served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War period.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Jageman Glisson; two sons, Steven Glisson of Jonesboro, Arkansas and David Glisson of Dallas, Texas; one brother, William Glisson of Covington; and two grandchildren.

Louise Dillahunty
1927-2005
McKENZIE - Services for Louise Bell Dillahunty, 77, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 13, at Brummitt Funeral Home. Burial will be in Henry County.
Mrs. Dillahunty, a retired S.S. Garment Company employee, died Monday, January 10, at McKenzie Regional Hospital.
She was born December 18, 1927, in Gibson County, to the late James V. Taylor and Ollie B. Taylor Allen. She was a member of First Baptist Church in McKenzie.
Survivors include a son, Payton (Becky) Dillahunty of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Diane (Dennis) Barton and Melinda Dillahunty, both of McKenzie; five grandchildren, Nicholas (Wendy) Barton, Chase Barton, Ashlee Dillahunty, Conner Dillahunty and Tyler Dillahunty; and one great-grandchild, Andrew Barton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben M. Dillahunty, and two sisters, Mildred Harris and Earlene McNeese.

Alan Jeffrey Parker
Cape Coral, Florida - Alan Jeffrey (Jeff) Parker, 51, died December 30 after a long bout with cancer. A memorial service will be at First Baptist Church, 313 North Poplar Street in Paris at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 22.
Jeff was a member of First Baptist Church at Paris, a graduate of Henry County High School and Murray State University, Murray, Kentucky. He was district executive with Boy Scouts of America, West Tennessee Council, then in 1984 moved to Florida where he was senior district scout executive of the Southwest Florida Council at Ft. Meyers, Florida. At the time of his death, he was employed by AFSM International in Ft. Myers, Florida.
Survivors include his parents, Robert W. and Charleene M. Parker of McKenzie, and a brother, Joe R. Parker of Virginia. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hope Hospice, 9470 Health-Park Circle, Ft. Myers, Florida 33908 or a charity or your choice.

Frederick Hart
McKENZIE - Frederick Hart, 58, died Monday, January 17, at his home. Arrangements were incomplete at press time. Brummitt Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert B. (Bobby) Gwaltney
1940-2005
DALLAS, TEXAS - Services for Robert B. (Bobby) Gwaltney, 64, formerly of McKenzie, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 20, at First United Methodist Church in McKenzie. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mr. Gwaltney, a security guard, died Sunday, January 16, at Signature Point Nursing Center in Dallas.
He was born June 18, 1940 in Milan to the late Clifford Gwaltney and Imogene B. Gwaltney.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Gwaltney; two sons, Joseph (Kim) Gwaltney of Paris and Robert Gwaltney, Jr. (Tammy) of McKenzie; three brothers, Bill Gwaltney of Huntingdon, Tommy Gwaltney of Dallas, Texas and Jim Gwaltney of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, Samantha Gwaltney of McKenzie and Hannah Gwaltney of Paris.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Annie K. Toombs
1916-2005
McKENZIE - Services for Annie K. Toombs, 88, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, at Brummitt Funeral Home with Bro. Dennis Beal officiating. Burial will be in Liberty cemetery.
Mrs. Toombs, a retired factory worker for Wilker Brothers, died Monday, January 17, at McKenzie Health Care Center.
She was born July 28, 1916 to the late Jesse Bush and Lucy McBride Bush. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Kemp and Linda Cochran, both of McKenzie; three sisters, Roverta Bush of Henry, Retha Nelson and Elber Ruth Ellis, both of McKenzie; ten grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Virgil Bush, Buck Bush and Floyd Bush, and one sister, Martha Barton.
Visitation will begin Tuesday from 4:30 until 9 p.m.
