Hazel Prince Smith
1909-2005
HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA: Services for Hazel Prince Smith, 96, were conducted on Sunday, February 27, at Berryhill Funeral Home in Huntsville with burial in the Maple Hill cemetery in Huntsville.
Mrs. Smith died Friday, February 25, in Huntsville, Alabama.
She was born in Benton County to the late Noah and Mattie Faves Prince. She was preceded in death by her son, Edgar Eugene Smith, Sr. and three brothers, Wayne Prince, Fred Prince and Leo Prince.
She graduated from Clarksburg High School and attended UT Martin and Memphis State University. She was a rural schoolteacher in Carroll County for a number of years. During World War II, she worked at a naval base in Jacksonville, Florida. She was a member of the Clarksburg Church of Christ.
Survivors include four grandsons and nine great-grandchildren including Guy Prince and Jean Hester, both of Clarksburg.

Verlie 'Odell' Townsend
1914-2005
HUNTINGDON - Services for Verlie 'Odell' Townsend, 90, were conducted on Thursday, February 24, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Larry DePriest and Bro. J.L. Fortner officiating. Interment icon followed in the Palmer Shelter cemetery.
Mrs. Townsend died Tuesday, February 22, at the Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born May 9, 1914 in Gibson County to the late Quitman Mann and Una Mae Massey Mann. She was a retired seamstress for the Publix Shirt Corporation and a member of the Tates Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Townsend; one brother, James Mann; and four sisters, Lena Wilkes, Claris Lowe, Lorene Bell and Ruby Lane.
Survivors include a daughter, Ann Green of Oakdale; three sons, Larry Townsend of Huntingdon, Donald Townsend of Lexington, and Terry Townsend of Huntingdon; a sister, Willodean McGee of Huntingdon; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Harold Rowe
1931-2005
HUNTINGDON - Services for Harold Rowe, 73, were conducted at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 24, at Dilday Funeral Home with Brother Scott Carter officiating. Interment icon took place at 9:00 a.m., Friday, February 25 at Hickory Flatt cemetery.
Mr. Rowe died Wednesday, February 23, at Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Rowe was born August 29, 1931 to the late Lessie Blankenship Duncan.

Joseph W. Smarsh, Jr.
1939-2005
HUNTINGDON - Services for Joseph W. Smarsh, Jr., 65, were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 21, in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Wayne Burton officiating. Interment icon followed in the Natchez Trace Baptist Church cemetery.
He was born April 17, 1939 to the late Joseph Wishard Smarsh, Sr. and Ruth Dice Smarsh.
Survivors include two daughters, Amy Haywood of Lexington and Tina Wilson of Huntingdon; a son, Chad Smarsh of Wildersville; a sister, Patricia Rose of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania; a brother, John Smarsh of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania; and five grandchildren. www.dilday.com

John Stanley 'J.S.' Hall
1922-2005
BRUCETON - Graveside services for John Stanley 'J.S.' Hall, 82, were at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 25, at Prospect cemetery in Hollow Rock with the Rev. Steve Whitworth officiating. Military honors were conducted at the gravesite.
Mr. Hall, a retired insurance agent for Lovett's Insurance Agency, died on Tuesday, February 22, in Dublin, Georgia.
He was born in Madison County to the late Frank J. Hall and Lucille Rushing Hall. He was a member of the Pine Forest United Methodist Church where he taught a men's Bible class. He was active in the Senior Foresters. Mr. Hall was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of the Bruceton Masonic Lodge #731 for more than 50 years.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Eason Hall; a daughter, Kay Haire of Destin, Florida; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Frank Hall.

George Haskel Cook
1912-2005
ATWOOD - Services for George Haskel Cook, 92, were at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 26, at Howse Baptist Church with Dr. Tony Latham and Rev. Everett McCoy officiating. Interment icon followed in the church cemetery. Bodkin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Cook, a retied building contractor with Cook Builders, died on Wednesday, February 23, at Milan General Hospital in Milan.
He was born October 31, 1912 in Henderson County to the late James Robert Cook and Emmie Stanford Cook. He was the last surviving charter member of Howse Baptist Church, which was established in 1947, serving as a deacon. He was a member of the Pleasant Green Masonic Lodge #291 in Trezevant for more than 50 years.
Survivors include his wife, Vernie Gateley Cook; two sons, Haskel Cook and Ray Cook, both of Atwood; a daughter, Janice Lewelling of Kingston; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

James 'Jimmy' Lowe
1955-2004
PERU, INDIANA: Services for James Mitchell Lowe, III, 49, were held Tuesday, February 21, in Peru, Indiana. He was buried next to his mother.
Mr. Lowe died Wednesday, February 26, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He was born May 25, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan to James Mitchell Lowe and Wanda Morgan Lowe. He was an environmental inspector for LVI Environmental Services, Inc., a nationwide abatement and demolition company. He also served as president of the Philadelphia branch office.
He was inspecting property for demolition on the grounds of the old Philadelphia State Hospital when he fell to his death.
Survivors include his father, James 'Jim' Lowe, II of the Veterans' Home in Humboldt; a brother, Steve Lowe of Philadelphia; two sisters, Pat Sasso of Peru, Indiana and Pam Nara of Arvada, Colorado; two aunts, Opal Prince and family of New Concord, Kentucky, and Ruth James and family of Louisville, Kentucky; and a cousin, Barbara Brewer and family of McKenzie.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Lowe; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Lowe of Huntingdon; and his aunt, Nell Miller-deLesdenier of McKenzie.

Ronald Noel Gleason
1936-2005
McKENZIE - Graveside services for Ronald Noel Gleason, 68, were at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 26, at Walker cemetery with Dr. Gary S. Collier officiating.
Mr. Gleason, a retired distribution manager for Pepsi Cola in Chicago, died Thursday, February 24, at his residence.
He was born July 10, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Roy A. Gleason and Elsie Martin Phalen Gleason.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Paschall Gleason; three daughters, Lisa Moncher of Huntingdon, Roni Whitworth of Gleason and Kristi Garrett of Sharon; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a great-grandchild.

Jessie Faye Long Guerra
1938-2005
PLACENTIA, CALIFORNIA: Services for Jessie Faye Long Guerra, 66, formerly of Gleason, were Saturday, February 26, at 2:00 p.m. at Gallimore Funeral Home with Mike Jeffers and Rev. Bob Copeland officiating. Interment icon followed in the New Valley cemetery.
Mrs. Guerra died Wednesday, February 23, at her mother's home in Gleason.
She was born on June 17, 1938, in Elbridge to James Howard Long and Lessie Virginia Sanders Long.
She was a graduate of Gleason High School and Nashville Business College. She was also a former member of the Gleason First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her mother; a son, Darrell Guerra of Placentia, California; a granddaughter; a sister, Joyce Marie Long Lofton of Antioch and a brother, Dr. James Howard Long of Murray, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Guerra, and her father.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Maurice 'Mo' Tafuro
1918-2005
McKENZIE - Services for Maurice 'Mo' Tafuro, 86, were at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 28, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Harrell Nation officiating. Interment icon followed in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mr. Tafuro died on Friday, February 25, at McKenzie Regional Hospital.
He was born July 1, 1918 in Westbury, New York to the late Maria Samesse and Frederick Tafuro. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in McKenzie.
Survivors include a son, Frederick 'Rick' Tafuro of Ocean Beach, New York; a brother, Anthony Tafuro of Bradenton, Florida; a brother-in-law, Henry Agricola of Henry; a sister-in-law, Eddie Van Nostrand of McKenzie; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myra Tafuro, and a son, Robert Henry Tafuro.

Roxye M. Crosser-Rauscher
1965-2005
LONGWOOD, FLORIDA - Memorial services for Mrs. Roxye M. Crosser-Rauscher, 39, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 5, at Long Heights Baptist Church in McKenzie.
Mrs. Crosser-Rauscher died on Monday, February 28, at her home in Florida. Her body was cremated.
She was born September 3, 1965 in Paris. She was an X-ray technician.
Survivors include a son, Dustin Deon Crosser of Nashville; her mother, Dianne Doster of Longwood, Florida; her brother, Jeremy Burns of McKenzie; and a sister, Megan Woodruff in Bradenton, Florida.
Memorials may be made to Long Heights Baptist Church in McKenzie.
