Lavancha Mae Patterson
Mount Pisgah Baptist member

Lavancha Mae Patterson, 84, of Oliver Springs, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Ms. Patterson was born July 21, 1916, in Bailey Switch, Ky., the daughter of William O. and Ethel Helton Patterson.

She was a homemaker and had lived in Oliver Springs most of her life. She was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church of Oliver Springs.

Ms. Patterson is survived by her sisters, Audrey White of Oak Ridge and Wanda "Madge" Coker of Oliver Springs.

In addition to her parents, another sister, Mildred Patterson, died earlier.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oliver Springs Highway, Clinton. The Rev. Garvan Walls will officiate.

Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs is handling arrangements.

Blanche Evelyne Vickery
Briceville Holiness Church member

Blanche Evelyne Vickery, 78, of Lake City, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Mrs. Vickery was described by her family as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her tomato garden, her peppers and garlic, and visiting on the front porch with her friends from Briceville.

She was a member of the Holiness Church of Briceville.

She was the daughter of Joseph and Willie Pittman Williams, who are deceased.

Mrs. Vickery is survived by her daughters, Evelyn Kubeck of Cleveland, Ohio, Jean Glenna Faye Braden and her husband, C.L. Braden, and Brenda Marlene Braden and her husband, Eddie, all of Briceville, Linda Sue Vickery of Parma Heights, Ohio, and Willie Joe "Jodie" Woodward and her husband, Jim Woodward, of Lake City.

She is also survived by her brothers, Joe Richard Williams Jr. and his wife, Faye, of Lake City and Delbert Williams of Clinton; her sisters, Jerry Nance of Lake City and Judy White and her husband, Jim, of Crossville; and by 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many other relatives.

In addition to her parents, a granddaughter, Lynn White, and a grandson, Michael Wayne Braden, died earlier. Her son-in-law, Michael Kubek, another sister, Betty Sue Estremera, and four other brothers, Dowell Williams, Spencer Williams, Blaine Williams and Charlie Frank Williams, are also deceased.

The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, Jan. 4, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City. The Rev. Jim Woodward and the Rev. Tony McAfee will officiate.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at Circle Cemetery in Briceville.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Patricia Ann Werner
Mother of Oak Ridgers

Patricia Ann Werner, 63, of West Knoxville, died at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Fort Sanders Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.

Mrs. Werner was born April 7, 1937. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church of Knoxville.

She is survived by her husband, William J. Werner; her sons, Jim Werner and Tommy Werner, both of Oak Ridge, Bob Werner and his wife, Jo, and Patrick Werner and his wife, Janna; and by her daughters, Denise Underwood and her husband, Tom, Betsy Norris and her husband, John, and Christine Brewer and her husband, Steve.

Mrs. Werner is also survived by her mother, Esther Clinger; her sisters, Eldora Lott and Caroline Fuller; and by seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight, Jan. 4, in the chapel of Highland West Funeral Home, 9913 Sherrill Lane, Knoxville. A Scripture service will be conducted at 8:15 p.m.

A private burial service will be conducted Friday at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with the Rev. Xavier Mankel officiating.

The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to the Knights of Columbus Home, 550 Idlewood Lane, Knoxville, TN 37923.

Katherine Eileen Stratton
Sister of Dewey Bullard

Katherine Eileen Stratton, 76, of Kissimmee, Fla., died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at a hospital in Florida.

Born Jan. 10, 1925, she was a native of Knoxville.

Mrs. Stratton was the widow of Fred Stratton.

Her family described her as a very talented lady who was loved by all who knew her and whom they will deeply miss.

Mrs. Stratton is survived by her son, John Stratton and his wife, Debbie, of Fort Worth,  Texas; her grandchildren, Christy Stratton of Burbank,  Calif., and Eric Gonzalez of Hong Kong, China; a brother, Dewey F. Bullard Sr. and his wife, Marjorie, of Oak Ridge; and her nieces and nephews, Francine Walker of Tallahassee, Fla., Eileen Perkins of Middletown, N.J., Linda B. Hamner and Becky Phillips, both of Oak Ridge, Frank Bullard Jr. of Reston, Va., Donita Peterson of Lincoln, Neb., Janet Carter of Sheridan, Wyo., and Tim Bullard of Dallas,  Texas; and several grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins in the Knoxville area.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Jan. 4, at Mynatt Funeral Home on Rennick Road, Knoxville.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at Sharon Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Robinson officiating.

Whitney J. Robertson
Former Oak Ridge resident

Whitney J. Robertson, 85, of Belleview, Fla., died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at his home.

Born in Livingston, Ky., he was a former resident of Oak Ridge. Mr. Robertson had retired from Union Carbide Nuclear Division after 34 years as an instrument mechanic at the Oak Ridge K-25 Site. He moved to Florida 18 years ago.

He was an avid gardener and past president of the Cherokee Park Association in Belleview. He was also a former member of the Belleview Planning and Zoning Board for 10 years.

Mr. Robertson was a Protestant.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marjorie L. Robertson; his daughter, Cynthia Herr and her husband, Lee, of Kissimmee, Fla.; his sister, Lena Wave Wilson of Iuka, Ky.; two brothers, Jimmy Robertson of Iuka and the Rev. Marvin Thomas Robertson of Murray, Ky.; and two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, in the chapel of Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 5946 SE Robinson Road, Belleview, with the Rev. Don Corbitt and the Rev. Frances R. Seely officiating.

Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Ocala, Fla.

The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to Hospice of Marion County, P.O. Box 4860, Ocala, FL 34478.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 tonight at the funeral home.
