Ocie Franklin Holland
1906-2006
HUNTINGDON - Ocie Franklin Holland, 99, died Tuesday, February 28, at his residence. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, March 2, in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment icon followed in the Carroll Memorial Mausoleum. Dr. Paul Mullikin officiated the service.
Mr. Holland was born April 17, 1906, in Decatur County, to the late James Oliver and Cynthia (Scott) Holland. He was retired from the Carroll County Propane Company as the co-owner and was a member of the Huntingdon First United Methodist, where he was a very active member of the choir.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vera (Presley) Holland; three sisters, Flossie Wylie, Flora Bivens, and Alta Scott; and two brothers, Willie Holland and Floyd Holland.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Ethel (Kee) Holland, one sister, Lorene Lumpkin of Franklin; one brother, Erin (Ruby) Holland of Scotts Hill; two step-daughters, Marilyn (Howard) Pruett of Huntingdon and Odene (John) Douglas of Lexington; numerous nephews and nieces; three step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great grandson.

Robert Vernon Fuller
1919-2006
HUNTINGDON - Robert V. "Vern" Fuller, 86, died Friday, March 3, at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, March 5, in the chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment icon followed in the Union Academy cemetery will full military honors. Bro. Andy Eschback, Jr. and Bro. Paul Merwin officiated the service.
Mr. Fuller was born July 11, 1919, in Carroll County, to the late Robert and Eloy (Chambers) Fuller.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Gladys Thomas. He was a member of the Union Academy Missionary Baptist Church, a World War II veteran, and a retired minister for several churches.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Grace Fuller, one daughter, Joyce (Carl Ray) Cannon of Huntingdon; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Tom P. Ross
1910-2006
HUNTINGDON - Tom P. Ross, 96, of died Sunday, March 5, at the Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 8, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment icon will follow in the Oakwood cemetery in Milan. Bro. Beals will officiate the service.
Mr. Ross was born February 25, 1910, as the oldest son of Rufe and Rosa Ross. He grew up in Carroll County working on a farm with his parents, brothers and sisters. He spent four years in the U.S. Army. During this time he was wounded in Italy serving his country. After his return from the U.S. Army he was employed with the Milan Army Ammunition Plant. After many years he was transferred to federal ammunition plant in Bynum, Alabama. During the time he worked in Milan he was married to Flora Cobb. After his retirement in Alabama, he and his wife moved back to Milan, where he became a member and deacon of Northside Baptist Church. He also served as a Sunday School teacher until his health failed.
He is survived by three sisters, Berdie Hood of Cedar Grove, Martha Craig of San Antonio, Texas, and Bonnie (James) McLemore of Huntingdon; three nephews; and seven nieces.

J.D. Smith
1916-2004
HUNTINGDON - Mr. J.D. Smith, 87, died Monday, January 5 at his home. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, January 7 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Elmer Thomas officiating. Interment icon followed in the Oak Grove Congregational cemetery.
Mr. Smith was born December 1, 1916 in Huntingdon to the late Douglas McCall and Cora Weaver Smith. He was a farmer and a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Huntingdon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Lucille Smith, who died July 26, 1993, one son, Darrell Elwyn Smith; two brothers, J.M. Smith and Harlos Smith; and three sisters, Dorothy Hall, Peggy Smith and Marie Williams.
Survivors include one daughter, Sarah Carolyn Dyer of Clarksburg; two sons, John David Smith of Huntingdon and Randall Douglas Smith of Tupelo, Mississippi; three sisters, Robbie Jo Judd of Nashville, Imogene Sanders and Lucille Kee, both of Huntingdon; one brother, Roy Smith of Nashville; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Imogene Wright
1910-2004
GLEASON - Services for Imogene Wright, 93, were at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 3 at Gallimore Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Price officiating. Burial was in New Hope cemetery.
Mrs. Wright, widow of William Ammons Wright, died Thursday, January 1 at Hillview Nursing Home in Dresden.
She was born April 8, 1919 in Gleason to the late Ellis and Flora Stallcup Morgan. She was a member of the Davis Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Jim Wright of Gleason and Billy Wright of Griffin, Georgia; a daughter, Nellie Freeman Carter of Gleason; a sister, Mozella Covington of Gleason; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Margaret Ann Pace Smothers
1942-2004
HUNTINGDON - Mrs. Margaret Ann Pace Smothers, 61, passed away Sunday, January 11 at the Baptist Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, January 13 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Fred Ward officiating. Interment icon followed in the New Spring Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Smothers was born May 1, 1942 in Carroll County to the late William Hulon and Margaret Crossett Lifsey. She was a factory worker for Publix Shirt Corporation and a member of the First Baptist Church in Huntingdon. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Betty Sue Phillips.
She is survived by her husband, Lynn Dale Smothers; two daughters, Jane Coleman of Memphis and Beverly Ann Scott of Lafayette, Louisiana; one son, Ricky Joe Pace of Hollow Rock; one sister, Nancy Mann of Lafayette, Louisiana; one brother, William 'Sunny' Lifsey of Huntingdon; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Raymond Leo Pate
1935-2004
HUNTINGDON - Mr. Raymond Leo Pate, 68, passed away on Sunday, January 11 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, January 13 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jimmy Stewart officiating. Interment icon followed in the Hampton cemetery.
Mr. Pate was born November 11, 1935 in Obion County to the late Lester F. and Mary Archer Pate. He was a retired truck driver and attended a Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Dennis Wayne Pate.
Survivors include his stepmother, Elizabeth Pate of Huntingdon; one uncle, Ralph Dale Pate of Hickman, Kentucky; one aunt, Swan Archer of Union City and three cousins.

Irene Barker
1920-2003
McKENZIE - Services for Irene Barker, 82, were at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 29 at Union Academy Baptist Church with Bro. Paul Merwin officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Barker, a homemaker and farmer, died on Tuesday, May 27 at McKenzie Regional Hospital.
She was born on November 27, 1920 in Carroll County to the late Gertie Mann Bush and Rob Bush. She was a member of the Union Academy Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Lyndle Barker of McKenzie and Billy Barker of Trezevant; two brothers, Austin Bush and Billy Ray Bush, both of McKenzie; a sister, Evora Bryant of McKenzie; three grandchildren, Jamie Barker, Timothy Barker and Angie Barker and four great-grandchildren.

Robert Louis Alexander
1936-2003
PARIS - Services for Robert Louis Alexander, 66, were at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 1 at Trinity Funeral Home in Paris with the Rev. Terry Woodruff officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood cemetery.
Mr. Alexander died on Thursday, May 29 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.
He was born October 19, 1936 in Henry. He was a member of the Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church and attended local school systems.
Survivors include his mother, Lennie Huffman of Paris; two daughters, Jacqueline Alexander of Lebanon and Angela Alexander of Atlanta, Georgia; a son, Elijah Alexander of Atlanta, Georgia; three sisters, Lina Gary and Annie Coats, both of Toledo, Ohio and Elena Rowe of Paris; a brother, Willie Huffman of McKenzie; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Annie Kathryn Burrow
1918-2003
McKENZIE - Services for Annie Kathryn Burrow, 84, will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 6 at Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Bro. Jim McGuire officiating. Burial will follow in the Shiloh cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 5 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home and Friday, June 6 from 9:00 a.m. until the service at the church.
Mrs. Burrow, a homemaker, died on Sunday, June 1 at McKenzie Regional Hospital.
She was born November 30, 1918 in Vale to the late Sibyl Ware Simmons and Elmer David Simmons. She was a member of the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church in McKenzie.
Survivors include two daughters, Sibyl Reynolds of Independence, Missouri and Mary Gray of Huntingdon; a sister, Doris Oliver of Paris; four grandchildren, Eric Reynolds, Robin R. Rao, Suzanne Reynolds and Esther Gray and five great-grandchildren William Reynolds, Vanessa Reynolds, Jacob Reynolds, Jeremy Reynolds and Emma Reynolds.
All personal friends of John Ples and Kathryn Burrow please consider yourselves honorary pallbearers.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Ples Burrrow.
Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Harlos White Smith
1926-2003
HUNTINGDON - Mr. Harlos White Smith, 77, died on Sunday, June 1 at the Life Care Center in Bruceton. Funeral services were conducted on June 3 in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Lloyd Ray Rich officiating. Interment icon followed in the Palmer Shelter cemetery.
Mr. Smith was born on February 26, 1926 in Carroll County to the late Douglas and Cora Weaver Smith. He was a timber cutter for J.D. Hall Logging. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jodie Marie Smith, three sisters, Marie Williams, Dorothy Hall, and Peggy Smith and one brother, Jim Smith.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Hudgins, and Melinda Carter, both of Huntingdon; one son, Kevin Smith of Gleason; three sisters, Imogene Sanders and Lucille Kee, both of Huntingdon and Robbie Judd of Nashville; two brothers, J.D. Smith of Huntingdon and Roy Smith of Nashville; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Charles E. Hastings
1935-2003
MANSFIELD - Services for Charles Edward Hastings, 67, will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 4 at Mansfield Baptist Church with the Revs. Jimmy Allison and Warren Sykes officiating. Interment icon will follow in the Shiloh cemetery in Mansfield.
Mr. Hastings died of cancer on Sunday, June 1 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. He was retired from the Tennessee Department of Corrections and was the former owner of West Tennessee Printing and Paris Tire and Used Cars.
He and his wife were foster parents with the Tennessee Department of Children's Services for more than 20 years. They fostered more than 300 children and he was the northwest regional director for the Tennessee Foster Adoptive Care Association.
He was born in Henry County on August 4, 1935 to the late Luther and Hallie Ford Hastings.
Survivors include his wife, the former Betty Daigle and one son, Michael Charles Hastings.
