William Ray Forbes
1916-2004
HUNTINGDON - Mr. Ray Forbes, 87, passed away on Saturday, January 17 at the Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, January 20 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. William P. Bailey Jr., Dr. Paul Mullikin and Bro. Dosie Wheatley officiating. Interment
followed in the Palmer Shelter cemetery.
Pallbearers who served were Wayne Kirk, Jim Forbes, David Kirk, Jimmy Kirk, Ryan Forbes and Adam Maddox.
Mr. Forbes was born March 31, 1916 in Huntingdon to the late Pearlie Ann Laycook Forces and James Arthur Forbes. He graduated from Clarksburg High School in 1935 and married
Jo Ina Kirk on February 8, 1942. He served as a mailman, second class in the United States Navy during World War II and was discharged in 1946. He continued his education and 1953, graduated from Bethel College with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. He also earned a Master of Arts degree from Memphis State University in 1956.
He was a lifelong member of the Huntingdon First United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school classes for many years, first in Camden and then in Huntingdon. He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge #106 since 1948 and served in many capacities including Master of the Lodge. He was also a member of the Order of the Scottish Rite and received the Honor Degree of Knight Commander of the Court of Honor with the Ancient and accepted Scottish Rite in 1982. In addition, he was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and had served in the important post of Worthy Patron with both Camden and Huntingdon chapters. He was also a member of many other civic and fraternal organizations.
He was employed as an environmentalist with the Carroll County Office of the Tennessee Department of Health and Environment, where he served with dedication for 42 years and for many years as county director. He was a past president of the Tennessee Public Health Association and retired from the department in 1990.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jo Ina Kirk Forbes; one son, William Larry (Betty) Forbes of Huntingdon; two grandchildren, Angie (Matt) Maddox of Huntingdon and William Ryan Forbes of Burns and three great-grandsons, Adam Maddox, Ethan Maddox and Kirk Maddox, all of Huntingdon.
Ann Carter Gaines
1923-2004
BOWLING GREEN, KENTUCKY: Graveside services for Ann Carter Gaines, 80, were at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 20 at Fairview cemetery. J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Gaines died Friday, January 17 at Greenview Hospital.
She was born in Huntingdon to the late James Green Carter and Eula Darnell Carter. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Bowling Green, a member of the Delineator Club and a member of the Bowling Green Country Club.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas W. Uhl of Santa Fe, New Mexico and James C. Uhl of Huntingdon, New York; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

William Hollis Hopper
1911-2004
McKENZIE - Services for William Hollis Hopper, 92, were at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 20 at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie with burial at Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mr. Hopper, a retired horse trainer and McKenzie city employee, died on Saturday, January 17 at NHC in Milan.
He was born August 31, 1911 in Trezevant to the late Janie Hargrove Hopper and William Clint Hopper. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in McKenzie.
Mr. Hopper was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Hoper.
Survivors include his daughter, Molly Sue Page of Milan; one brother, Carlos 'Buck' Hopper of Memphis; two grandchildren, Stacey Nelson of Milan and Debra James of Memphis; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Mildred Ledsinger
1932-2004
HUNTINGDON - Mrs. Mildred Ledsinger, 71, passed away on Wednesday, January 14 at her home. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, January 16 at 11:00 a.m. at the Huntingdon Church of Christ with Bro. Bill Goodpasture officiating. Interment
followed in the Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers who served were John Taylor, Jason Orr, Barry Brandon, Rodney Pendergrass, Kenny Prestage and Kevin Prestage.
Mrs. Ledsinger was born April 7, 1932 in Clarksburg to the late Harrison Alvin and Ruth Dill Pendergrass. She was a retired cook for the Huntingdon Primary School and a member of the Huntingdon Church of Christ. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Larry Ledsinger, who died in May of 1995 and one infant daughter, Amy Janice Ledsinger.
Survivors include two daughters, Becky (Donald) Orr and Ginger (Jimmy) Taylor; three sons, Byron (Susan) Ledsinger, Landon (Dana) Ledsinger and Mike Ledsinger, all of Huntingdon; three sisters, Sylvia Brandon of Clarksburg, Marie Hilliard of Macon, Georgia, and Betty Pullin of Maple Heights, Ohio; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson and a special niece, Linda Jackson, all of Huntingdon.
Nubern Gene 'Cran' Rogers
1936-2004
BRUCETON - Services for Nubern Gene 'Cran' Rogers, 67, will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 21 at Stockdale-Malin Funeral Home in Camden with Bro. Jerry Hollingsworth officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah cemetery.
Mr. Rogers, retired from Henry I. Siegel in Bruceton, died Monday, January 19, at his home.
He was born May 31, 1936 in Carroll County to the late Bill Rogers and Lula Bella Weathers Rogers.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Faye Pace Rogers; two sons, Dan Rogers of Hollow Rock and Johnny Rogers of Bruceton; four sisters, Billy Morris, Polly McEwen and Christine Hollingsworth, all of Bruceton and Ethel Norden of Hollow Rock; two brothers, Pete Rogers and Cordell Rogers, both of Bruceton; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Denver Allen Simon

HUNTINGDON - Services for Denver Allen Simon, 78, formerly of McKenzie were Tuesday, January 20 at Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Home in Bolington, West Virginia. Visitation was Friday, January 16 at McKenzie Funeral Home. Burial was in Fraternal cemetery.
Mr. Simon, quality assurance programmer for the U.S. government, died Thursday, January 15 at Baptist Hospital in Huntingdon.
He was born July 12, 1925 in Junior, West Virginia to the late Bertha R. Simon and William Baines Simon. He was in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Survivors include two sons, Daniel Simon of Huntingdon and Mark Lynn Simon of Moyadore, Ohio and one brother, Merlin Burke Simon of Revenna, Ohio.
Barbara Ann Snead

CEDAR GROVE - Services for Mrs. Barbara Ann Snead, 49, were at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 20 at Reed's Chapel in Lexington with burial at Center Ridge cemetery.
Mrs. Snead died on Saturday, January 17 at her home.
Surviving are her husband, Glenn Snead of Cedar Grove; a daughter, Tracy Szymanski of Cedar Grove; a son, Robert Thurston of Lexington; a sister, Janice Jones; three brothers, Anthony Jones, Eugene Jones and Joseph Jones and six grandchildren.
Myrtle Jewell Vickers

HUNTINGDON - Mrs. Myrtle Jewell Vickers, 83, died on Friday, January 16 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, January 18 at 3:00 p.m. at Huntingdon First Baptist Church with Bro. Fred Ward officiating. Interment
followed in Liberty All cemetery.
Mrs. Vickers was born February 26, 1920 in Carroll County to the late Homer and Jossie Murphy Kirby. She was a homemaker and a member of the Huntingdon First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Franklin Vickers, Sr.; a brother, James Roy Kirby and two sisters, Mildred Byars and Betty Cole.
Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Cole of Huntingdon; a son, Joe Franklin Vickers, Jr. of Henderson, Kentucky; a brother, Bobby Kirby of Bruceton; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Philip 'PL' Ross Martin

McKENZIE - Services for Philip 'PL' Ross Martin, 44, will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 21 at Cedar Avenue Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home with the Revs. Dennis Trull and John Adams officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5:00-9:00 p.m.
Mr. Martin died on Sunday, January 18 at the Camden General Hospital.
He was born March 10, 1959 in McKenzie. He was a 1977 McKenzie High graduate, a 1982 Bethel College graduate and a member of the First Baptist Church in McKenzie.
Survivors include his mother and father, Martha Elizabeth 'Tinsy' Fite Martin and Harold Ross Martin of McKenzie; a daughter, Beth Martin of Huntingdon and a sister, Carol Barker of McKenzie.
Daniel Hall
1922-2004
Daniel Hall, 71, of Estero, Florida, formerly of Paducah, Kentucky, died Tuesday, January 13 in Florida. Services for Mr. Hall were held Saturday, January 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home in Paducah with Drs. John Wood and J. Kevin McCallon officiating. Burial followed in Mount Kenton cemetery.
Mr. Hall was owner/operator of Daniel G. Hall Excavating and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Paducah. He was a native of McKenzie and was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Gilbert and Hassie McCalib Hall.
Mr. Hall is survived by his wife, Joyce Wainscott Hall; two daughters, Brenda Basnight of Montgomery, Alabama, and Cindy Anderson of Nashville; one son, Kenneth G. Hall of Paducah; one sister, Sue Maddox of Dresden; six grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
Max William Sneed
1908-2003
INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA - Max William Sneed, 94, passed away on June 9 at the Alpha Home. There were no services.
Mr. Sneed was born in Carroll County on August 20, 1908 to Pink and Hannah Sneed. He was employed in maintenance service at the IU Medial Center and retired in 1974. He was the oldest member of the Webb Alumni Association. Mr. Sneed was also an army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two sons, William Sneed and Robert William Sneed; one daughter, Maxine Sneed Phillips; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Crown Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
B.D. Waldrup
1922-2003
McKENZIE - Services for B.D. Waldrup, 81, were at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 13 at Brummitt Funeral Home with Bros. Tim Coleman, Vance Rushing and Paul Conquest officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mr. Waldrup, a retired employee of the Carroll County Highway Department, died on Friday, July 11 at McKenzie Regional Hospital.
He was born on January 28, 1922 in Mayfield, Kentucky to the late Elsie Stroud Waldrup and Burnice Waldrup. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II. He was also a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church in McKenzie.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Waldrup; a son, Bobby Joe Waldrup of Nashville; a daughter, Linda Sue Morgan of McKenzie; two stepdaughters, Penny McKinney of McKenzie and Peggy Cole of Paris; two sisters, Margie Hime and Iva Mae Fuzzell, both of McKenzie; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Willie Sue Waldrup.
