Vaughn L. Walker
1921-2003
TREZEVANT - Services for Vaughn L. Walker, formerly of Milan, were at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 12 at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial in the Sunset cemetery in Dresden.
Mr. Walker, a retired employee of Jewell Tea Company, died on Wednesday, July 9 at Milan General Hospital.
He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by a stepson, Jimmy Medlin.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Medlin Walker and a stepdaughter, Linda Rimmer, both of Trezevant; six step-grandchildren and 17 step-great-grandchildren.
Memorials or contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Sonya D. Williams
1962-2003
HUNTINGDON - Mrs. Sonya D. Williams, 40, died on Tuesday, July 8 at her home. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, July 10 at 12:00 noon in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Gary Burke officiating. Interment icon followed in the McAuley cemetery.
Mrs. Williams was born on July 25, 1962 in Greenfield. She was an accounting clerk for Johnson Control in Lexington; coached girl's softball in Huntingdon and attended the Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Thedford and one brother, William Thedford.
Survivors include her husband, Anthony Lynn Williams; her mother, Willodean Thedford of Trezevant; one daughter, Amanda Faith Williams; one son, Gregory Mikel Williams, both of Huntingdon; one sister, Patricia Vaughn of Trezevant and two brothers, Garry Thedford of Huntingdon and Raymond Thedford of Memphis.

Charlotte Duncan
1924-2003
TEXAS: Charlotte Duncan died Saturday, July 5, 2003 in Midland, TX. Charlotte was born on August 15, 1924 to Harold Scott and Ethel Paris in Ocean City, New Jersey. She attended the Moore Institute of Art in Philadelphia, PA. Charlotte married David Duncan Jr. who was in the Air Force. She was very active in the Officers Wife's Association. She moved to Midland, TX in 1995 and was active in the Seniors Citizens Center where she enjoyed the ceramic classes. She was also a member of the Daughters of American Revolution.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, and one sister. She is survived by one son; David S. Duncan III of McKenzie; two daughters; Zoe Wright of Midland, TX, and Karen Duncan of Atlantic City, NJ; and four grandchildren.
Services were held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 9 at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. Interment icon will be held at a later date at Cape May County Veterans cemetery in Cape May Courthouse, New Jersey. Arrangements were under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, Midland, Texas.
Memorials may be directed to the Diabetics/Heart Association, 10 Desta Drive in Midland, Texas 79705.

George T. Adams, Jr.
1919-2003
McLEMORESVILLE - Mr. George T. Adams, Jr., 83, died on Wednesday, May 14 at the Life Care Center in Bruceton. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, May 16 at 10:00 a.m. at the McLemoresville Methodist Church with Brother Tommie Martin and Brother Jim Cooper officiating. Interment icon followed in the McLemoresville cemetery.
Mr. Adams was born on November 29, 1919 in Carroll County to the late George Thomas and Virginia Pafford Adams, Sr. He was a member of the McLemoresville Methodist Church, an army veteran, and a retired county manager for Jackson Production Credit. A daughter, Virginia Ann Adams, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Madeline Carter Adams; one son, George Thomas Adams III of St. Louis Missouri; a brother, Virgil E. Adams of Athens Georgia; a grandson and two great-grandchildren.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Warren Brinkley
1922-2003
HUNTINGDON - Mr. Warren Brinkley, 81, died on Friday, May 16 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital. Graveside funeral services were conducted on Monday, May 19 at Carroll Memorial Gardens, with Brother David Clubb officiating.
Mr. Brinkley was born April 28, 1922 in Buena Vista to the late Scott and Hassie Parish Brinkley. He was a retired employee of the Railway Postal Clerk, a member of the Prospect Baptist Church and a World War II army veteran. Two brothers, Gilbert Brinkley and Robert Brinkley and two sisters, Ruth Yates and Mae Dill, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a sister, Vonell Cequin of Huntingdon, several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Joe Frank Hays
1919-2003
McKENZIE - Services for Joe Frank Hays, 83, were at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 17 at Brummitt Funeral Home, McKenzie with burial in Davidson Chapel cemetery in Trenton.
Mr. Hayes, a retired factory worker, died Thursday, May 15 at McKenzie Regional Hospital.
He was born October 27, 1919 in Trenton to the late Cleo Bonds and W.A. 'Tom' Hays.
Survivors include a son, Richard Hayes of Milan; two sisters, Annie Lou King of Dyer and Bonnie Wade King of Trenton; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Jackie W. Hollingsworth
1950-2003
TREZEVANT - Mr. Jackie W. Hollingsworth, 53, died on Tuesday, May 13 at the Methodist Hospital in McKenzie. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, May 16 at 1:00 p.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jim Roberts officiating. Interment icon followed in the Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Hollingsworth was born February 2, 1950 in Dyer County to the late John G. and Dora Mae Crawford Hollingsworth. Two brothers, John G. Hollingsworth and Billy Ray Hollingsworth preceded him in death.
Survivors include three sisters, Imogene Camargo of Trezevant, Betty Rivera of McKenzie, and Linda Vega of Medina; four brothers, Ligie Hollingsworth of Huntingdon, Jimmy Hollingsworth of Lavinia, Eddie Hollingsworth of Camden and Bobby Hollingsworth of West Memphis, Arkansas.

Andrew Janes
1930-2003
BRUCETON - Services for Andrew Janes, 72, were at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 15 at the Bruceton Funeral Home. Burial was in the Marlboro cemetery near Vale.
Mr. Janes, retired security guard for HIS died on Tuesday, May 13 at Camden General Hospital.
He was born November 3, 1930 in Martin to the late James Lloyd and Madrell McMackins Janes. He was a member of the Marlboro Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Joan T. Janes of Bruceton, one daughter, Deborah Lynn Summers of Buena Vista; a son, Michael Janes of Hollow Rock; two sisters, Fay Durham and Bettie Janes, both of Jackson; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Leamon Roy Williamson
1918-2003
ATWOOD - Graveside services for Leamon Williamson, 84, were held at 2:00p.m., Friday, May 16 at Pisgah cemetery in Atwood with Rev. David Lawler officiating.
Mr. Williamson, a retired security guard, died on Tuesday, May 13 at Milan General Hospital.
He was a member of the Christ Chapel Church in Atwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Esther Williamson and three brothers, Lawson Williamson, Lester Williamson and Lindel Williamson.
Surviving are two sisters, Lorene Crocker and Linnie Walden, both of Milan; a stepson, a step-grandson and three step-great-grandsons.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
Bodkin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Laura Fay Rogers
1941-2003
ATWOOD - Funeral services for Laura Fay Rogers, 61, were at Bodkin Funeral Home with Rev. Brandon Newman, grandson, officiating. Burial was in Gibson County Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Rogers died on Thursday, May 15 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Rogers of Atwood; two daughters Mikki Tanner of Sheridan, Arkansas and Angie Ellis of Gibson; a son, Billy Newman of Atlanta, Georgia; two sisters, Mary Tooke of Evansville, Indiana and Ethel VanDemon of Cherokee Village, Arkansas.

Joseph Daniel Powers
1984-2003
MILAN - Services for Joseph Daniel Powers, 19, were at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 9 at Bodkin Funeral Home. Burial was in Locust Grove cemetery near Bradford.
Mr. Powers, a construction worker, drowned on Thursday, June 5.
Survivors include his wife, Jamie Powers; a daughter, Julie Powers of Milan; his mother and stepfather, Sarah Powers Miller and Roger Miller of Cedar Grove; his father, Mark Ward of Dresden; two sisters, Jessica Miller and Jennifer Miller, both of Cedar Grove; a brother, Joshua Miller of Cedar Grove; his grandparents, Lee Young of Milan, Marjorie Powers of Milan and Aaron and Joyce Ward of Martin.

George Wesley 'John' Anderson
1924-2003
DYERSBURG: Services for George Wesley 'John' Anderson, 78, were at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 6 in the Curry Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Mac Daniels and C.H. Ricks officiating. Burial was in the Sorrell's Chapel cemetery in Dyersburg.
Mr. Anderson, retired supervisor of maintenance at the City Golf course, died on Wednesday, June 4 at his residence.
He was a member of the Evansville Free Holiness and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and recipient of the Bronze Star.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel Anderson; three daughters, Jeanne Hooper of Trezevant and Judy Thurmond and Sarah Alley, both of Dyersburg; two sons, Johnny Anderson and Wade Anderson, both of Dyersburg; two sisters, Helen Shipley and Myrtle Leitherland, both of Dyersburg; a brother, Logan Anderson of Friendship; fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah Bell Doss and Benjamin Jackson Anderson and three sisters, Eliza Spry, Opal Haynes and Minnie Bishop.
