Jessie Cornelia Armstrong Ainley

DRESDEN - Services for Jessie Cornelia Armstrong Ainley, 79, were at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 22 at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the New Hope cemetery in Latham.
Mrs. Ainley died on Saturday, September 20 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
She was born near Sharon to the late Robert Lee and Josephine Bone Doster. She was a member New Hope Baptist Church near Latham.
Survivors include her husband, Ray Ainley; two daughters, Rebecca Cheatham of McKenzie and Nelda Brewer of Russellville, Alabama; two stepdaughters, Brenda Kelley of Dresden and Debbie Rust of McKenzie; a son, Kelly Barber of Parkersburg, West Virginia; a stepson, David Ainley of Houston, Texas; a sister, Carmen Parrish of St. Louis, Missouri; eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Raymond Cecil Blackwell
1916-2003
CEDAR GROVE - Services for Raymond Cecil Blackwell, 87, were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 19 at Pafford Funeral Home in Lexington. Burial was in Hickory Flat cemetery in Cedar Grove.
Mr. Blackwell, a retired sawmill employee, died Wednesday, September 17 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Survivors include his daughter, Doris Richardson of Cedar Grove; a son, Sidney Wayne Blackwell of Lexington; sisters Maureen Webb and Annie Loys Mathney, both of Jackson; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Roy Dandy Crocker
1951-2003
McKENZIE - Services for Roy Dandy Crocker, 52, were held on Saturday, September 20 at 2:00 p.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie with Bro. Randy Vowell officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet cemetery in McKenzie.
Mr. Crocker, a retired upholsterer, died on Wednesday, September 17 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He was born on February 23, 1951 in McKenzie to the late Elmer Odell and Nettie Cunningham Crocker. He was a member of Cooper's Chapel Baptist Church in McKenzie. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Lee Crocker, Charles A. Crocker and Troy Lynn Crocker and one sister, Alice Fay Taylor.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine H. Crocker; two sons, Patrick R. Crocker and Ryan Crocker, both of McKenzie; three brothers, Ray Crocker, Don Crocker and Bobby Crocker, all of McKenzie; two sisters, Betty Foss and Carolyn Clement, both of Paris; and one grandchild, Beth Crocker.

Mae Overcast
1929-2003
PARIS - Virginia Mae Overcast, 74, died on Thursday, September 18 at her residence. Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday at McEvoy Funeral Home with the Rev. Alan Trull of Henry United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in the Foundry Hill Baptist Church.
She was born May 21, 1929 in Henry County to the late Clydous Lee Berkley and Artie Ola Hastings Berkley. She had retired from Tecumseh Products in Paris. She was also a member of the Bethany Independent Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Cathy Turner of Vale, Cindy Byars of Henry and Cheryl Miller of Paris; two sons, Randy Overcast and Ricky overcast, both of Paris; two sisters, Sue Paschall of Ohio and Carolyn Edwards of McKenzie; two brothers, Leon Berkley of Paris and Elroy Berkley of Missouri; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lucy Ann Berkley in infancy and Lucille Wimberley; two brothers, Clydous and J.W. Berkley and an infant granddaughter.

U.L. "King Fish" Fisher
1927-2003
PURYEAR: Gibson County native U.L. "King Fish" Fisher, 76, died on Thursday, September 18 at the Plumley Rehabilitation Center in Paris. Services were held at Bodkin Funeral Home in Milan. Burial was in the Walnut Grove cemetery near Trenton. Mr. Fisher was married on November 12, 1950 to the former Alice Jo Stavely, who survives.
He was born April 6, 1927 in Trenton to the late William Jesse Fisher and Laura Mae Petty Fisher. He was a self-employed carpenter and painter.
Survivors include two sons, David (Diane) Fisher of McKenzie and the Rev. Lyndel (Sherry) Fisher of Newbern; a daughter, Janet D. Moody of Puryear; one sister, Audrey Cross of Trenton and five grandchildren, Jonathan David Fisher, James Daniel Fisher, Andrea Fisher (Brian) Jackson, Angel Hutchens and Jesse K. Moody.
The family request memorials be made in Fisher's name or in honor of grandson Jesse Moody to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.

Lardine Strayhorn Kirby
1939-2003
HUNTINGDON - Services for Lardine Strayhorn Kirby, 64, were held Saturday, September 20 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Parkers Crossroads. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Kirby was born on January 9, 1939 in Lexington to the late Willie Strayhorn and Jessie Mae Pritchard. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Prentice Kirby; one daughter, Peggy Williams; one sister, Della Mae Abbage; two brothers, William Thomas Straynorn and Billy Joe Strayhorn; and one half-brother, Patrick Williams. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Joann Jordan, Charlene Irvin and Mary Williams all of Huntingdon and Evelyn Stanford of Lexington; six sons, Lorenzo Williams and Glen Howard, Jr., both of Lexington and Eric Williams, Tony Williams,Dwight Williams and Joe Williams, all of Huntingdon; one half-brother, Charles Williams of Parkers Crossroads; two sisters, Pearlie Deberry of Huntingdon and Fay Edwards of Cape Cauraldo, Illinois; two brothers, Don Browning of Virginia and Robert Browning, Jr. of California; 26 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Trinity Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Terrell TerFerrell Carter
1978-2004
CEDAR GROVE - Services for Terrell TerFerrell Carter, 25, were held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 29 at Bible Hill Baptist Church. Burial followed in Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
Mr. Carter died on Sunday, May 23 at Henderson County Community Hospital.
Survivors include his former wife, Samantha Mullins Carter of Cedar Grove; his mother, Teresa A. Atkins of Cedar Grove, his father, Clarence Lamont Carter, Jr. of Milan; daughters Jessamyn Buczynski and Jolissa Leona Nicole Holder, both of Lexington; one son, Shawn Lamont Cole of Cedar Grove; two sisters, Terneus Atkins and Tenna Carter of Milan; and four brothers, Terrance Atkins and Jermaine Atkins, both of Lexington and Marcus and Jason Carter, both of Milan.

Verdie L. Mitchell
1908-2004
TREZEVANT - Services for Verdie L. Mitchell, 96, were held on Friday, May 28 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in McLemoresville with Bro. Tommy Martin officiating. Interment icon followed in the McLemoresville cemetery.
Mrs. Mitchell, a retired teacher at McLemoresville Elementary died on Tuesday, May 25 at Life Care Center in Bruceton. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in McLemoresville, the United Methodist Women, a youth Sunday school teacher, the Retired Teacher's Association and had the distinction of being the oldest citizen of McLemoresville.
She was born February 10, 1908 in Carroll County to the late Ollie Simons and Eldon E. Woodard. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Horace A. Mitchell; two brothers, Max Woodard and Sam Woodard and one sister, Polly Kornegay.
Survivors include one son, Buddy Mitchell of Knoxville; one daughter, Linda Argo of Atwood; four brothers, Harold Woodard of Ft. Myers, Florida, Almer Woodard of Little Rock, Arkansas, Gordon Woodard of Clarkesville, Georgia and Horace Woodard of Haskell, Texas; two sisters, Flora Bell Loving of Palm Dale, California and Mary Sue Kornegay of Charlotte, North Carolina; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Pauline A. Perkins
1909-2004
BARTLETT: Services for Pauline A. Perkins, 94, formerly of McKenzie were held on Wednesday, May 26 at 2:00 p.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie with Sandra Leatherwood officiating. Burial followed in Everett's Chapel cemetery.
Mrs. Perkins, a beautician, died on Monday, May 24 at Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis.
She was born October 5, 1909 to the late Evadna Anderson Aylor and George Henry Aylor. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Curtis F. Perkins and a son, Doyle Perkins.
Survivors include a daughter, Patsy Wallace of Bartlett; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Perkins of Dyersburg; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Robert Walter Tart
1983-2004
BRUCETON - Mr. Robert Walter Tart, 21, passed away on Monday, May 24 at the Carroll County Jail. Graveside funeral services were conducted on Thursday, May 27 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant cemetery in Skullbone.
Mr. Tart was born January 12, 1983 in Mims, Florida. He was a construction worker.
Survivors include his parents, Bobby and Loretta Hunt Tart of Bruceton; two sisters, Brandy Lee Tart of McKenzie and Kelly Annette Tart King of Huntingdon; one half-sister, Patricia Ellis of Huntingdon and one brother, Kerry Hunt of Huntingdon.
Chase Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Donna Maupin
1945-2004
HENRY - Funeral services for Donna Rae Maupin, 59, were at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 27 at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Craig Peevyhouse officiating. Interment icon followed in Bevil cemetery.
Mrs. Maupin died of cancer on Tuesday, May 18 at Murray-Calloway County Hospital.
She was born April 2, 1945 in Paris to the late Raymond Henry Gansner and Dora Lee Smith Gansner. She was a medical office worker who assisted a number of physicians through the years. She last worked as an x-ray technician. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and attended East Wood Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, James "Jimmy" Maupin; one son, Tracey Maupin of Paris; one daughter, Tammy Wells of Paris; one sister, Judy Carol Sanders of McKenzie; a niece, Kelly Sanders-Kelley of McKenzie and four grandchildren.

Carrie Mae Tucker
1928-2004
HUNTINGDON - Mrs. Carrie Mae Tucker, 76, passed away on Wednesday, May 26 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, May 29 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Phillip Halters, Bro. Marshall Gurley and Bro. Tim Maness officiating. Interment icon followed in New Liberty cemetery.
Mrs. Tucker was born January 18, 1928 in Clarksburg to the late Sam and Minnie Jane Rigsby Singleton. She was a homemaker, a member of New Liberty Missionary Baptist Church and a lifetime resident of Carroll County. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Betty Mac Tucker, an infant daughter and one grandson, Andy D. Tucker.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Edward L. Tucker; ten sons, James Tucker of McKenzie, Darrell Tucker, Rodney Tucker, Billy Tucker, Roger Tucker, Bev Tucker, John Tucker, Jessie Tucker, Jack Tucker and Kenny Tucker, all of Huntingdon; fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Conway Black
1917-2004
HUNTINGDON - Mr. Conway Black, 86, passed away on Thursday, May 27 at the Life Care Center in Bruceton. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, May 29 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James Humphrey officiating. Interment icon followed in the McAuley cemetery.
Mr. Black was born December 11, 1917 in Carroll County to the late Philmore and Renee Dill Black. He was a retired police officer for the Huntingdon Police Department and a Baptist by belief. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Iva Mae Sanders Black, who died February 4, 1998; two sisters, Ollie Lane and Iva Mayo and two brothers, Johnny Black and Jessie Black.
Survivors include one daughter, Becky Johnson; one son, Connie Black, both of Huntingdon; two grandsons, one great-grandson; and one great-great granddaughter.
