Leslie Earl Clement
1918-2003
BRUCETON - Services for Leslie Earl Clement, 85, were at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 30 at the Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Bradshaw officiating. Interment icon followed in Prospect cemetery.
Mr. Clement, a commercial construction operating engineer, died on Tuesday, July 29 at Camden General Hospital.
He was born on February 19, 1918 in Kentucky to the late Leslie and Carrie Roland Clement. He was a member of the Independent Missionary Baptist Church and was a World War II army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Dale Luther Clement of Bruceton and one stepdaughter, Mrs. Karen Woods of Bruceton, two step-grandsons and one step-great-grandchild.

Mary F. Powell
1920-2003
TREZEVANT - Services for Mary F. Powell, 83, were at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 3 at the Brummitt Funeral Home in Trezevant with Freeman Weems and Gerald Piror officiating. Interment icon was in the Oak Grove cemetery in Trezevant.
Mrs. Powell, a homemaker, died on Thursday, July 31 at her home in Millington. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Atoka.
She was born on May 9, 1920 in Greenfield to the late Victoria Moore Bland and Albert Bland. Her husband, Robert Powell, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include four sons, Jerry Thomas Powell of Paris, Sammy Odell Powell of Troy, John Ray Powell of Nashville and Tommy Robert Powell of Memphis; two daughters, Dean Wyatt of Millington and Brenda Fay Hyder of Paris; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Doris W. Minet
1921-2003
HUNTINGDON - Mrs. Doris W. Minet, 81, died on Saturday, August 2 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Mrs. Minet was born on November 30, 1921 in Norwich, Connecticut to the late Wilfred and Dorilla Mosse Smith. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, the Eastern Star and was a retired employee of T.J. Max.
Survivors include three daughters, Pat Allen of Huntingdon, Lois Quaid of Huntsville, Alabama and Arlene Marcheselli of Bedford, Massachusetts; one sister, Betty Ann Patrie of Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Irene Boyd Brown
1912-2003
HOLLOW ROCK - Mrs. Irene Boyd Brown, 90, died on Tuesday, July 29 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, August 2 at 1:00 p.m. in the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church with Reverend Rodney Campbell and Reverend James Pettus officiating. Interment icon followed in the Mt. Nebo Pisgah cemetery.
Mrs. Brown, a homemaker, was born September 11, 1912 in Henry County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Miller T. Brown, her parents, a daughter, Fleetie Pearl Brown; two brothers, Ocie Boyd and Elvie 'Tump' Boyd, and a sister, Dobie Booker.
She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Parker of Hollow Rock and one grandchild Tywone Parker.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Elwood Norman
1941-2003
CEDAR GROVE - Mr. Elwood Norman, 61, died on Tuesday, July 29 at the Transitional Care Center in Jackson. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, August 1 at 2:00 p.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. John Columbus officiating. Interment icon followed in the Christian Chapel cemetery.
Mr. Norman, the son of the late Homer and America Stiltner Norman was born on December 21, 1941 in Williamson, West Virginia. He was an employee of Henry I. Siefel and a Vietnam army veteran. He was preceded in death by a brother, Herman Norman.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Sue Chaney Norman; two sons, Sean Norman of Huntingdon and George Norman of Cedar Grove; one sister, Nora Sue Ward of Honaker, Virginia; one brother, Noah Stiltner of Grundy, Virginia; and three grandchildren.

LeRoy Cobb
1939-2003
HOLLOW ROCK - Mr. Leroy Cobb, 64, died on Saturday, August 2 at his home. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, August 4 at 2:00 p.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Rufus Chandler and Robert Simmons officiating. Interment icon followed in the New Hope cemetery near Yuma.
Mr. Cobb, the son of the late James Oscar and Ella Wease Webb Cobb, was born May 23, 1939 in Carroll County. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Darce Lee Cobb and a sister, Lavern Bennett. He was a retired mechanic for Henry I. Siegel.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Mrs. Janie Hodge Cobb; one son, Chris Cobb of Paris; three brothers, Jackie Cobb of Hollow Rock; Noel Cobb of Huntingdon and Eugene Cobb of Madison Heights, Michigan; and one sister, Judy Hopper of Hollow Rock.

Cornelia G. Parish
1922-2003
MEMPHIS - Mrs. Cornelia G. Parish, 81, formerly of Huntingdon, died on Wednesday, July 30 at the Allen Morgan Nursing Center in Memphis. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, August 1 at 2:00 p.m. in the Huntingdon First United Methodist Church with Dr. Phil Mullikin and Dr. William P. Bailey officiating. Interment icon followed in the Oak Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Parish, the daughter of the late Harrison and Linnie Jones Gowan was born on January 28, 1922 in Madison County. She was a retired employee of the Publix Corporation and a member of the Huntingdon First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Winifred C. Parish.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Smith of Memphis and one granddaughter.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Selena Devault
1977-2003
HOLLOW ROCK - Services for Selena Devault, 26, were at 3:00 p.m., Monday, June 16 at Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roy N. Hayes, Sr. officiating. Burial was in Prospect cemetery in Hollow Rock.
Miss Devault, an emergency medical dispatcher in Waverly, died on Saturday, June 14 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
She was born May 21, 1977 in Jackson. She was an American Heart Association Health Care provider.
Survivors include her parents Sherman and Beth Devault of Hollow Rock; a bother, Jeremy Devault of Hollow Rock; maternal grandfather Edward Cary and paternal grandmother, Virginia Devault, both of Hollow Rock.

Walden Huell 'Preacher' Laws
1931-2003
HUNTINGDON - Mr. Walden Huell 'Preacher' Laws, 71, died on Saturday, June 14 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, June 17 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. L.D. Willis officiating. Interment icon followed in the Sellers Hill cemetery.
Mr. Laws was born on July 10, 1931 in Carroll County to the late Gothe Grecian and Sophia Virgie Crider Laws. He was a farmer and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, whom he married on June 5, 1954, Dorothy Pritchard Laws; two daughters, Sherry Carwile of Jackson and Kimberly Laws of McKenzie; two sons, Kerry Don Laws of McKenzie and Timothy Lynn Laws of Nashville; three sisters, Evola Thompson, Dorothy Sanders and Juanita McCord, all of Huntingdon; four brothers, Odell Laws of Nashville, John Laws of Palatine, Illinois, Joe Laws and Wilburn Laws, both of Huntingdon; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to one of the following organizations: Carl Perkins Center, St. Judes Children's Hospital or the American Cancer Society.

Pauline Haywood Webb Hall
1907-2003
CEDAR GROVE - Mrs. Pauline Haywood Webb Hall, 96, died on Thursday, June 12 at the Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, June 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Ronnie Stewart and Brother Edd Tubbs officiating. Interment icon followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Hall was born May 7, 1907 in Carroll County to the late John and Gertrude Evans Haywood. She was a homemaker and a member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Vernon Webb and later by her second husband, Calvert Hall; a daughter, Helen Prater and a son, Robert Earl Webb.
Survivors include one daughter, Juanita Hammett of Shiloh; five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Lavona Brinkley
1933-2003
HOLLOW ROCK - Mrs. Lavona Brinkley, 69, died on Wednesday, June 11 at her home. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, June 14, at 2:00 p.m. at the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Robert Simmons and Bro. Johnny Boyd officiating. Interment icon followed in the Prospect cemetery in Hollow Rock.
Mrs. Brinkley was born on November 16, 1933 in Camden to the late John Thomas and Barbara Cox Johnson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Westport Missionary Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Elgie Johnson, Lester Johnson, John Thomas Johnson, Jr., and Coleman Johnson and one sister, Nellie Johnson.
Survivors include her husband, who she married on June 30, 1956, Leonard Brinkley; one daughter, Sandra Henley; one son, David Brinkley, all of Hollow Rock; three sisters, Opal Ridley of McKenzie, Ora Medlin and Gladys Shannon, both of Camden; one brother, Clayton Johnson of Muskegon, Michigan and two granddaughters.

Frances Mills York
1918-2003
PULASKI - Graveside services for Mrs. Francis Mills York, 84, were held on Wednesday, June 11 at 10:00 a.m. at the Giles Memory Garden in Pulaski.
Mrs. York, a homemaker, died on Monday, June 9 at the Sunbridge Nursing Home in Lawrenceburg.
He was born in Higgins, Texas on November 8, 1918 to the late Gust and Mina Post Sletz.
Survivors include one daughter, Pat Bowen of Pulaski; one stepdaughter, Barbara Todd of Indio, California; one stepson, Bob York of Parker Arizona; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
Carr & Erwin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Malinda Wright
1909-2003
BRUCETON - Mrs. Malinda Wright, 94, died on Tuesday, June 20 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, June 12 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ephesus Baptist Church with Bro. Arzell Douglas officiating. Interment icon followed in the Massey-Liles cemetery in Hollow Rock.
Mrs. Wright was born on January 6, 1909 in Henry County to the late Augustus Burkett and Molly Cole Grissom. She was a homemaker and a member of the Ephesus Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Clifford Wright, who died in 1955.
Survivors include six daughters, Frances Marie Massey, Johnie E. Newhouse, Lois Kee, Rachel Reed, all of Bruceton; Hazel M. Marshall of Camden and Norma Milligan of Sumter, South Carolina; one son, Edward Wright of Seattle, Washington; fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Chase Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
