PRATVILLE, ALABAMA: Olivia Ruth Gasser, 93, a former resident of McKenzie for 35 years, died Monday, August 8. Funeral services were held Friday, August 12, at 11:00 a.m., at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie, with Mr. Charles Watkins officiating. Burial followed in Everetts Chapel cemetery.
Mrs. Gasser was preceded in death by her husbands, John Robert Henry and William Edward Gasser; sons, James Henry, Gerald Gasser, Kenny Gasser, and Carl Gasser; and daughter, Jeanita Robinson. She is survived by her children, Charles (June) Henry of Romulus, Mich.; Ray (Gloria) Henry of Belleville, Mich.; Lowell (Ilene) Henry of Kings Mountain, N.C.; Helen Martin of Phoenix, Ariz.; Shirley (Charles) Watkins of Gleason; Anna (Wally) Householder of Eloy, Ariz.; Wanda Roberson of Jeffersonville, Ind.; Brenda (Jerry) Moilanen of L'Anse, Mich.; Betty Householder of Clinton, Mich.; Clyde Gasser of McKenzie; Rachel (Ritchie) Chambless of Prattville, Ala.; Bud (Dorothy) Gasser of Ft. Myers, Fla.; Ruth Ann Allen of Ypsilanti, Mich.; and Charlotte (Ted) Mullins of Jefferson, Ind.; a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Gasser of Belleville, Mich.; 71 grandchildren; 93 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Naomi Berry of McKenzie; a brother, Floyd Reynolds of Cadillac, Mich. and a sister-in-law, Alyene Reynolds of Lawrenceville, Georgia;

Reverend James Monroe Runions
DYERSBURG: Reverend James Monroe Runions, 73, died at Wesley of Dyersburg Nursing Center Wednesday, August 10.
Services were conducted Friday, August 12, at Curry Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Fairview cemetery. J.B. Enochs and Marty Goins officiated.
Rev. Runions was retired from Dyersburg Fabrics.
He was a member of Phillips Street Church of God and a veteran of the Air National Guard.
He is survived by one daughter, Bettye Lynette Crosno of Dyersburg, and one son, Nathan Monroe Runions, of Dyersburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Franklin Runions and Maybelle Birmingham Runions, and one son, Steven Franklin Runions.
J.W. Curry and Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Lean Hillsman
1937-2005
HUNTINGDON - Mrs. Mary Lean Hillsman, 68, of Huntingdon, died at her residence Monday, August 8.
Services were Saturday, August 13, at 1:00 p.m., at New Reedy Creek Missionary Baptist Church with burial in New Reedy Creek cemetery. Bro. Kenneth Hillsman officiated. Rawls Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hillsman was born April 4, 1937, in Milan. She was the daughter of the late Willie and Jennie Vonner.
She is survived by her husband, Judson Hillsman; one daughter, Valerie K. Hillsman of McLemoresville; two sons, Jeffrey (Anita) Hillsman of Nashville and Gregory (Janette) Hillsman of Milan; four sisters, Elanor Adams, Alma Stanley, Alina Vonner of Milan, and Joyce (J.B.) Smith of Dophaw, New York; four brothers, O.B.(Edith) Vonner of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Jones L. (Elaine) Vonner of Toledo, Ohio; Otha Lee (Bobbie) Vonner of Milan; and five grandchildren.

Martha Butler
1925-2005
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, August 13, at 1:00 p.m. at Parkers Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Interment icon followed in the Church cemetery.
Mrs. Martha (Pearson) Butler was born November 13, 1925, in Clarksburg, to the late Sabin and Ella (Parker) Weathers. She died Tuesday, August 9, 2005. She was a member of Parkers Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
She worked at an early age for Dr. and Mrs. R.B. Wilson, eventually working at Wilson Hospital, and later worked at the Milan Arsenal Production Plant. After retiring from Milan Arsenal, she became a babysitter for many wonderful children in the community. As a young woman she married Mather Pearson and to this union 13 children were born. She later married Jethro Butler. Preceding her in death was her husband, Jethro Butler; four children, Anna Rene, Stevie, Paul, and Regina Pearson; and five sisters, Vezzie, Lizzie, Vernesta, Dollie, and Hester; and two brothers, Floyd and Hershel.
Survivors include seven sons, Richard Pearson, Ernest Pearson and Kenny Pearson, of Huntingdon, and Billy Pearson, Randy Pearson, Nathan Pearson and Robert Pearson, of Champaign, Illinois; one brother, Chester Weathers; one sister, Faye Weathers; step children; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Louise Dickerson
1925-2005
HUNTINGDON - Mrs. Louise Dickerson, 80, died Tuesday, August 9, at her home.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, August 12, at 11:00 a.m., at the Huntingdon Missionary Baptist Church. Interment icon followed in the Prospect cemetery in Hollow Rock. Brother Lynn Stapleton officiated the services.
Mrs. Dickerson was born February 6, 1925, in Carroll County, to the late Granville Lewis and Mattie Bell Black Pace. She was a member of the Huntingdon Missionary Baptist Church and a retired employee of Publix Shirt Corp. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Dickerson, who passed away in 1997, a son, James Dickerson, and a brother, Roy Pace.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Brenda (Darrell) Pace, of Elwood, Illinois; two granddaughters; 5 great-grandchildren; a brother, C.D. Pace of Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Aubrey Dale Lewis
1939-2005
CAMDEN - Mr. Aubrey Dale Lewis, 66, died Tuesday, August 9, at the Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, August 12, at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Dilday Funeral Home. Interment icon followed in the Christian Chapel cemetery. Brother Bill Crossno and Brother Scott Carter officiated the services.
Mr. Lewis was born February 21, 1939, in Leach, to the late Albert Odell and Rebecca Frances Attachison Lewis. He was an employee of Quebecore Printing and a member of the Eva Road Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Lewis.
He is survived by a son, Timothy Lewis of Camden.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mildred Howard
1943-2005
McKENZIE - Services for Mildred Howard, 64, were at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 14, at Brummitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Stewart officiating. Burial was in Pilgrims Rest cemetery.
Mrs. Howard, a retired factory worker, died Friday, August 12, at Oak Manor Health Care Center in McKenzie.
She was born January 22, 1943, in Carroll County, to the late Felix Howard Galloway and Cora Lee Lundy Galloway.
Survivors include her husband, John Howard, and two sisters, Barbara Davidson of Portals, New Mexico, and Katie Smith of Mansfield.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Lendell Galloway.

Wilma 'Jo' Autry
1931-2005
HUNTINGDON - Services for Wilma Jo Autry, 73, were conducted Thursday, April 7, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Randall Woods officiating. Interment icon followed in the Davis Chapel cemetery.
Ms. Autry died Tuesday, April 5, at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
She was born December 31, 1931, in Carroll County, to the late Amos A. Autry and Lizzie Taylor Autry. She provided childcare services from her home for several of the community children and was a member of the County Line Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey Autry and Fred Autry.
Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Todd, and one son, Jerry Autry, both of Huntingdon; four sisters, Ruth Springer of Huntingdon, Lorelle Collin of Vidalia, Georgia, and Marzell Baker and Irene Pinkley, both of Bruceton; one brother, Roby Autry of Hollow Rock; two granddaughters; and one special child, Coy Hooten.

David Alan Byas
1960-2005
McKENZIE - Services for David Alan Byas, 44, of the Macedonia Community, were held Thursday, April 7, at 2:00 p.m. in the Cedar Avenue Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Umberger officiating. Interment icon followed in the Liberty cemetery near McKenzie.
Mr. Byas, who was disabled, died Monday, April 4, at his residence. He was a Memphis native born October 28, 1960, to the late William Harold Byas and Maggie Mae Melear Byas Dunn.
Survivors include two sisters, Judy Connell of Southaven, Mississippi, and Patricia Umberger of Sardis, Mississippi; one brother, Jim Byas of McKenzie; and several cousins.

Marshall Jones
1926-2005
CEDAR GROVE - Services for Marshall Jones, 79, were conducted at 3:00 p.m., Monday, April 11, at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial in Oakwood cemetery in Milan.
Mr. Jones, a retired trooper, died Friday at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Margie F. Jones of Cedar Grove; one son, Van Jones of Eads; five daughters, Shirley D. Jones of Milan, Terry Jones Hollins of Tullahoma, Donna J. Aylor of Jackson, Ellen Wolfe of Manchester, and Sharon F. Haggett of Wilmington, North Carolina; one brother, Stone B. Jones of Odessa, Texas; one sister, Martha Jones Browning of Milan; and 12 grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society or Milan Cumberland Presbyterian Church Building Fund.

Nelle Moody Kirk
1913-2005
HUNTINGDON - Services for Nelle Moody Kirk, 91, were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 10, at the First United Methodist Church in Huntingdon. Interment icon followed at Mt. Olivet cemetery in McKenzie.
Mrs. Kirk died Thursday, April 7, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
She lived all her life in Carroll County, was educated at McTyiere School and Bethel College and worked as a journalist at numerous area newspapers, including The McKenzie Banner, which was then owned by her father, Curtis D. Moody. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and filled many service positions, including over 50 years as a Sunday School teacher. She was a longtime volunteer for the American Cancer Society and a lifetime member of the Booklovers Club and the Huntingdon Women's Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Bettie K. Wilson of Johnson City; two sisters, Jane Kearney of Clermont, Florida, and Lucy Pilgrim of Memphis; and one grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Robert Kirk, and one brother, Curtis D. Moody.
The family requests that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Huntingdon, Habitat for Humanity, or a charity of the donor's choice.
Chase Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Elizabeth Swindell Childress
1921-2005
BRADFORD: Services for Elizabeth Swindell Childress, 83, were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 11, at the First Baptist Church in Bradford with Rev. Don Dyer and Rev. Gary Miller officiating. Interment icon followed in Bradford cemetery.
Mrs. Childress, retired from the Kellwood Corp., died Saturday, April 9, at her residence. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Eva Nell and Barbara Sue.
She taught Sunday school for classes of all ages for her church for many years.
Survivors include a daughter, Betsy Perry of Atwood; one son, James Harvey Childress of Bradford; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
