CHARLES GARLAND "TEX" DEMOSS
1929-2007
HUNTINGDON - Charles Garland "Tex" DeMoss, 77, died Friday, November 16, at his home. Funeral services were Tuesday, November 20, at 11 a.m. at Dilday Funeral Home with Glenn Morgan officiating. Burial was in Arlington cemetery.
Mr. DeMoss was born December 14, 1929 in Carroll County to the late Charles Verdle and Mildred Clara Darnall. He was a retired serviceman having served in the Vietnam War. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Billy DeMoss.
Survivors include: his wife, Ruth Evelyn DeMoss; and one son, Robert Lee DeMoss of West Borough, Massachusetts.

SPENCER MOORE LANE
1923-2007
HUNTINGDON - Spencer Moore Lane, 84, died Saturday, November 17, at McKenzie Health Care. Funeral services were Monday, November 19, 10 a.m. at Dilday Funeral Home with Bro. Fred Ward officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill cemetery.
Mr. Lane was born October 30, 1923 to the late Erclie and Lillian Atkins Lane. He was a retired employee of West Tennessee Public Utility as a mater reader and from Bank of Huntingdon as a custodian. He worked for Doug Ragland in the dry cleaning business and operating the projector at Court Theater, was a member of Huntingdon First Baptist Church and a lifetime member of Huntingdon Masonic Lodge. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen Welch Lane; one brother, Erclie Lane, Jr.; one sister, Elizabeth Lane Clark; and one great-grandson, David Joshua Loyd.
Survivors include: one daughter, Dorothy "James Bubba" Martin of Huntingdon; one brother, Alvin A. (Sue) Lane of Nashville; two sisters, Nell Lane (Bobby) Miles of Fairfield Glad and Virginia Mae Lane (Bob) Allen of Anchorage, Alaska; and three grandchildren.

RICKY BROOKS
1955-2007
PARIS - Ricky Brooks, 51, died Saturday, November 17, at his residence. Funeral services were Tuesday, November 20, 11 a.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Gary Collier officiating. Burial followed in Olive Branch cemetery in Cottage Grove.
Mr. Brooks was born November 29, 1955 in Paris to the late Donald McSwain Brooks and Jean Williamson Brooks. He formerly worked as an engineer at Tecumseh Products in Paris.
Survivors include: his wife, Wendy Ann Leach Brooks of Murray, Kentucky; one son, Greg Brooks of Paris; three daughters, Amy (Craig) Fox of Hazel, Kentucky, Leslie Parrish of Huntingdon and Emily Odom of Murray, Kentucky; one brother, Gary (Diane) Brooks of Paris; and seven grandchildren.

J.C. TRUE
1918-2007
GOODLETTSVILLE: J.C. True, 88, formerly of McKenzie, died Thursday, November 15, at Alive Hospice in Madison. Funeral services were Saturday, November 17, 10 a.m. at McKenzie Funeral Home with Bro. Tony Janner, Bro. Ken Castleberry and Bro. Dale True officiating. Burial followed at Eastview cemetery in Union City.
Mr. True was born November 19, 1918 in Rives to the late James and Mary Roberts True. He was a member of McKenzie First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a Mason, and a Soil Scientist for the U.S. Government. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Pam Campbell.
Survivors include: his wife, Lillian Wilkerson True; and one daughter, Susan Castleberry of Goodlettsville; and three grandchildren.

FLOY RUTH SAWYERS GRISSOM
1929-2007
McKENZIE - Floy Ruth Sawyers Grissom, 78, died Friday, November 16, at her residence. Funeral services were Sunday, November 18, at 3 p.m. at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in McKenzie with Bro. Arthur Bing officiating. Burial followed in Enon cemetery in McKenzie.
Mrs. Grissom was born March 23, 1929 in Carroll County to the late Fred Sawyers and Myrtle Irene Thompson Sawyers. She was a homemaker. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Ray Grissom.
Survivors include: one son, Steve Grissom of Paris; three daughters, Ruth Arnold, Linda Grissom and Jane Stewart, all of McKenzie; one sister, Lucille Cannon of Paris; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Brummitt Funeral Home of McKenzie was in charge of arrangements.

MARIE (DUNLAP) BLAYLOCK
1912-2007
TREZEVANT - Marie (Dunlap) Blaylock, 95, died Friday, November 16, at St. Frances Hospital in Memphis. Funeral services were Sunday, November 18, at 1 p.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home in Trezevant with Bro. Mike Ridgely officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Olivet cemetery in McKenzie.
Mrs. Blaylock was born September 7, 1912 in Weakley County to the late Silas Dunlap and Mary (Keith) Dunlap. She was a homemaker and member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Murray Prince Blaylock.
Survivors include: one son, Jerry Blaylock of Smyrna; one daughter, Mary K. Chandler of Memphis; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

WILLIAM THOMAS TRAVIS
1946-2007
McKENZIE - William Thomas Travis, 60, died Saturday, November 17, at his residence. Funeral services were Monday, November 19, 1 p.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie with Bro. Randy Vowell and Larry Moore officiating. Burial followed in Pilgrim's Rest cemetery in McKenzie.
Mr. Travis was born December 12, 1946 in Carroll County to the late Miles Travis and Maggie Marie (Featherston) Travis. He was a retired teacher.
Survivors include: his wife, Sylvia Dean Travis of McKenzie; one daughter, Kristi Wallace of Estill Springs; three brothers, Kenneth Travis and Larry Wayne Travis, both of McKenzie, and Charles Travis of Medina; one sister, Anne Hammett of Cedar Grove; and two grandchildren.

NELLE MAE (WILCOX) PRESSON
1916-2007
TREZEVANT - Nelle Mae (Wilcox) Presson, 91, died Saturday, November 17, at Jackson General Hospital. Funeral services were Tuesday, November 20, 2 p.m. at Long Rock United Methodist Church in Huntingdon with Bro. Jerry Hassell officiating. Burial followed in Long Rock cemetery.
Mrs. Presson was born January 1, 1916 in Carroll County to the late H. Otha Wilcox and Estella (Conners) Wilcox. She was a homemaker. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Gilman Presson.
Survivors include: one son, Richard Gilman Presson, Jr. of Huntingdon; one daughter, Janelle P. Couch of Humboldt; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Brummitt Funeral Home in Trezevant was in charge of arrangements.

LEON TUCKER
1929-2007
HUNTINGDON - Leon Tucker, 78, died Sunday, November 18, at his home. Funeral services are Wednesday, November 21, at 10 a.m. at Huntingdon First Baptist Church with Bro. Fred Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Flatt cemetery.
Mr. Tucker was born June 30, 1929 in Juno to the late Robert Coy and Mary Frances Stanford Tucker. He was the retired owner of City Drug Company with 56 years of service as a licensed pharmacist, a member and deacon of Huntingdon First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Order of Eastern Star OES #180, Masonic Lodge #106, Scottish Rite Mason, Royal Arch Masons, and the Phi Delta Chi Pharmaceutical Fraternity.
Survivors include: his wife of 56 years, Marge Tucker; three sons, Bob Tucker, Tony (Charlotte) Tucker, and Tim (Diane) Tucker, all of Huntingdon; one sister, Onita (Ray) Darby of Lexington; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday and 5 until 9 p.m. in the Chapel of Dilday Funeral Home and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. until time of services at Huntingdon First Baptist Church.

Olan Butler
1918-2003
HOLLOW ROCK - Services for Olan Butler, 84, were at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 7 at Bruceton Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Joe Hilliard officiating. Burial was in Butler's Chapel cemetery in Buena Vista.
Mr. Butler, a retired front press operator for Reynolds Aluminum, died on Wednesday, February 5 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
He was born on July 21, 1918 in Buena Vista to the late Clyde and Media Rhodes Butler. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, June Cline of Georgia and Joann Sanitori of Virginia; four sisters, Crystal Britton of Bruceton, Edwina Prince and Arabia Drinkard, both of Camden and Ruth Bryant of Dyersburg; two brothers, Loren C. Butler of Hobart, Indiana and Billy Gene Butler of Buena Vista.
His wife, Marjorie Butler and a sister, Maxine Cupples preceded him in death.

Susie Catherine Tegethoff
1921-2003
McKENZIE - Services for Susie Catherine Tegethoff, 81, homemaker, were at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 7 at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie. Burial was in Pilgrim's Rest cemetery in McKenzie.
Mrs. Tegethoff died on Wednesday, February 5 at her residence.
She was born on November 1, 1921 in Lavinia, daughter of the late James Walter White and Mary Bessie Haynes White.
Surviving are two sons, Joe Tegethoff and Charles Tegethoff, both of McKenzie; two daughters, Betty Crocker of Greenfield and Wyvonne Rogers of McKenzie; seven half brothers and sisters, eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Robert Tegethoff; a son, Billy Tegethoff; a brother, James White and one grandchild, Amy Tegethoff all preceded her in death.

Larry Daniel Brooks
1953-2003
McKENZIE - Services for Larry Daniel Brooks, 49, were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 19 at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie with Bro. Kenny Carr officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mr. Brooks, a construction coordinator for Charter Communications and owner of Brooks Landscaping (McKenzie), died on Thursday, January 16 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He was born January 31, 1953 in Memphis.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Spencer Brooks; mother, Frances Brooks of McKenzie; a son, Sonny Brooks of McKenzie; two stepsons, Billy June of Jackson and Jeremy June of McKenzie; a brother, Wyatt Brooks of McKenzie; three sisters, Amanda Epperson of Kennesaw, Georgia, Lee Gray of Como and Ann Morgan of McKenzie; and two grandchildren, Colby and Kayley Brooks of Gleason. He was preceded in death by his father, William Brooks.
Mr. Brooks was an organ donor.

Desmar Hatch
1917-2003
LEXINGTON - Services for Desmar Hatch, 85, were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 16 at Reed's Chapel Funeral Home. Burial was in the Farmsville cemetery.
Desmar, a retired employee of General Motors, died on Monday, January 13 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Survivors include three daughters, Loretta Joyce Parris of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Mavis Delois Jones of Senath, Missouri, and Lareva Doris Richardson of Greenwood, Arkansas; two sons, James Lanoice Hatch of Imperial, Missouri and Max Royce Hatch of Stanton, Virginia; one half-sister, Vonnie Woods of Yuma; two half-brothers, Ben Hatch and Connie Hatch, both of Yuma; fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
