Allie Mae Grissom
1909-2003
GLEASON - Services for Allie Mae Grissom, 93, were at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 18 at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Rayman Carneal officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest cemetery.
Mrs. Grissom, retired owner of the Dixie Cafe, died on Thursday, January 16 at McKenzie Health Care Center.
She was born September 14, 1909 in Troy to the late Jim West and Manie P. Sterling Ponder. She was a member of the Gleason First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Rosalee Snider of Gleason, Dorothy Gean Carroll of Paris and Mary Esch of Bartlett; a brother, Edward Ponder of Gurney, Illinois; 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 32 great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Fred Brown Grissom and a son, Roy M. Grissom also preceded her in death.

Allie B. Snider
1914-2003
GLEASON - Services for Allie B. Snider, 88, were at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 19 at Gallimore Funeral Home with burial in Mt. Zion cemetery.
Mr. Snider, a retired bridge foreman and Weakley County Highway Department employee, died on Wednesday, January 15 at Van Ayer Manor.
He was born December 28, 1914 in Paris to the late Joe and Mary Frances Anderson Snider. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Marie Snider; daughter, Sandra Stewart of Martin; a son, Bill Snider of Memphis; three brothers, Dudley Snider of Gleason, Verdean Snider of Jackson and Duane Snider of Olive Branch, Mississippi; two sisters, Mary Kemp of Dresden and Blanche Bullock of Gleason; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Shirley Mae Bullock
1914-2003
GLEASON - Services for Shirley Mae Bullock, 88, widow of Doyle Bullock were Monday, January 20 at 2:00 p.m. at Gallimore Funeral Home with Dr. Joseph Geary officiating. Burial was in the Hopewell cemetery.
Mrs. Bullock died Friday, January 17 at Henry County Health Care.
She was born May 10, 1914 in Gleason to the late Thomas and Callie Law Cooper.
Survivors include a daughter, Dianne Blackburn of Paris; a son, Tommy Bullock of Jackson; a sister, Eulean Lehmann of Chicago, Illinois; four grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Chester C. Wimberly
1906-2003
McKENZIE - Services for Chester C. Wimberly, 96, were at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 18 at the McKenzie Church of Christ with Bro. Terry Joe Kee and Bro. Kenneth Edwards officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mr. Wimberly, a retired Union Pacific Railroad employee died Wednesday, January 15 at Oak Manor Health Care Center.
He was born May 22, 1906 to the late Mary and Ivy Grey Wimberly.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Wimberly; one son, Ben Wimberly of Antioch, California; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Williams Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Audrey Louise Phillips
1951-2004
HUNTINGDON - Mrs. Audrey Louise Phillips, 52, passed away Saturday, May 15 from injuries she sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral serves were conducted on Tuesday, May 18 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kenneth Roberts officiating. Interment icon followed in the Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mrs. Phillips was born December 21, 1951 in Johnson City, Tennessee to the late Andrew G. and Vergie Lee Pryor Bryant. She was a homemaker and attended the First Baptist Church in Atwood.
Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Billy J. Phillips; two sons, Billy Keith Phillips and Michael Andrew Phillips, both of Huntingdon; two brothers, Benton Dow James of Jackson and Sam DePriest of Washington, D.C.; one granddaughter and one step-grandson.

Lois Arvil Baker
1928-2004
HUNTINGDON - Mr. Lois Arvil Baker, 76, died on Sunday, May 9 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, May 11 at 11:00 a.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Lynn Stapleton officiating. Interment icon followed at Hampton cemetery.
Mr. Baker was born May 3, 1928 in Carroll County to the late Luther and Minnie Cassinino Baker. He was a retired employee of the Tennessee Department of Transportation and a member of the Concord Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Ruth Pate Baker.
Survivors include a daughter, Anita Smith of Huntingdon; two brothers, Larry Baker and Loyd Baker, both of Clarksburg.

John Earl Rhodes
1914-2004
HUNTINGDON - Mr. John Earl Rhodes, 89, died on Tuesday, May 11 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, May 13 at 2:00 p.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Paul Mullikin officiating. Interment icon followed in Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Rhodes was born September 3, 1914 in Madison County to the late Leonard and Etta Peck Rhodes. He was a member of the Huntingdon First United Methodist Church and owner of Rhodes Insurance. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Rhodes; two brothers, Stewart Rhodes and Roy Rhodes and a sister, Corienne Roark.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Kate McEwen Rhodes; two stepdaughters, Martha Kirby of Hollow Rock and Brenda Bullington of Bruceton; a stepson, Paul James of Nashville; five step-grandchildren; seven great-step-grandchildren and two great-great-step-grandchildren.

Jossie May Purvis
1936-2004
McKENZIE - Mrs. Jossie May Purvis, 68, died on Wednesday, May 12 at her home. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, May 13, at 11:00 a.m. at the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Glen Cooley officiating. Interment icon followed in Prospect cemetery in Hollow Rock.
Mrs. Purvis was born January 20, 1915 in Carroll County to the late Fonzo V. and Clara Myers Winchester. She was a member of the Liberty Hill Baptist Church and a retired employee of Henry I. Siegel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Purvis and a sister, Rebecca Winchester.
Survivors include three sisters, Mary Kleet and Clara Kesterson of McKenzie and Reba Christopher of Adamsville; five brothers, William Winchester of Memphis, James Winchester of Rossville and Roy Winchester, Walter Winchester and Jimmy Winchester, all of McKenzie.

Melissa Joan Moore
1960-2004
DECATUR, ALABAMA: Ms. Melissa Joan Moore, 43, died Thursday, May 13 at the Parkway Medical Center in Decatur, Alabama. Funeral Services were conducted on Sunday, May 16 at 2:00 p.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wayne Penn and Gene Lankford officiating. Interment icon followed at Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Ms. Moore was born June 29, 1960 in Hammond, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her father, Noel Alton Moore and her stepfather, James Davenport.
Survivors include her mother, Marjorie Davenport of Decatur, Alabama; two sisters, Cynthia Kovach and Teresa Pruitt of Decatur, Alabama and several nieces and nephews.

Marvin Campbell
1927-2004
SALEM, OHIO: Marvin D. Campbell, 76, died Monday, April 19 at the Salem Community Hospital.
He was born November 6, 19297 in McKenzie, the son of the late Ben and Willie Cruse Campbell.
Mr. Campbell worked for General Motors in Lordstown as a supervisor for 40 years, retiring in 1987. He was a lifetime member of the Salem VFW Post 892, member of the Salem Slovak Club and Salem Hills Country Club and was an avid golfer and motorcycle rider who loved gardening, vacationing and playing with his grandchildren.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Naval Air Corps.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Greenamyer, who he married December 13, 1980; two sons, Edward D. Campbell of Flint, Michigan and Stephen J. Bailey of Salem; one sister, Edna Reed of McKenzie; six grandchildren, Leila Bailey, Paige Bailey, Jason Campbell, Aaron Campbell, Cody Campbell and Nicole Tiefert and eight great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

Horace Wayne Wren
1942-2004
TRENTON: Services for Horace Wayne Wren, 72, were held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 11 at Shelton Funeral Home. Burial followed in Walnut Grove cemetery.
Mr. Wren died Monday, May 10 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Charlene Wren of Trenton; a daughter, Pam Randall of Milan; stepdaughters Michele Milligan and Debbie Abbott, both of Trenton; one brother, Jimmy Wren; a sister, Patsy Armstrong and four grandchildren.

Shirley Walker Woods
1936-2004
FRANKLIN: Services for Shirley Walker Woods, 67, formerly of Trezevant, were at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 14 at First Baptist Church in Trezevant with Rev. Malcolm Norton officiating. Burial was in the Trezevant cemetery.
Mrs. Woods, a registered nurse, died on Monday, May 10 at Claiborne-Hughs Heath Center in Franklin.
She was born December 31, 1936 in Carroll County to the late Mary Ruth Neill Walker and Jeff Stone Walker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dresden.
Survivors include a son, Jeff Woods of Franklin and two grandchildren, Rachel Woods and Jack Woods.

Sherman Eugene Whitson
1938-2004
McKENZIE - Services for Sherman Eugene Whitson, 65, were at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 13 at Liberty Hill Baptist Church. Burial was in Shiloh cemetery. Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Whitson, retired factory worker, died on Tuesday, May 11 at McKenzie Regional Hospital.
He was born August 4, 1938 in Dyersburg to the late Annie Florence Whitson and James Lewis Whitson. He was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church in McKenzie.
Survivors include a daughter, Diane Elizabeth Smith of Selmer; two sons, James Thomas Whitson of McKenzie and Kenneth Eugene Whitson of Greenfield; a half-brother, Vance Eaton of McKenzie; five grandchildren, Dustin Eugene Whitson, Devin Rhea Whitson, Rusty Kyle Phillips, Brandon Smith and Ashley Elizabeth Smith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Faye Whitson and three half-brothers, Chester Eaton, Wilber Eaton and Edison Eaton.
