Opal Boaz
1919-2004
GREENFIELD - Services for Opal Boaz, 84, were at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 1 at Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Keith Pence officiating. Burial was in Prospect cemetery.
Mrs. Boaz, a retired employee of Callins Industries, died Saturday, May 15 at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin.
She was born October 16, 1919 in Greenfield to the late John H. Galey and Flossie Swindell Galey.
Survivors include two sisters, Carrie Galey Cantrell of McKenzie and Thelma Galey Cooper of Greenfield.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Tulis Boaz.

Norvel Jasper Headden
1925-2004
McKENZIE - Services for Norvel Jasper Headden, 79, were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 17 at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Bro. Tony Janner officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mr. Headden, a dentist, died May 13 at St. Mary's Transitional Care Unit in Knoxville.
He was born April 23, 1925 in Atwood, son of the late Kelly B. and Camilla Cummings Headden. He was a World War II naval veteran and a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in McKenzie.
Survivors include two sons, Kendal (Diane) Headden of Burleson, Texas and Kelly (Dana) Headden of Knoxville; a daughter, Diane Bladecki of Fairplay, Colorado; a sister, Annelle Jones of Nashville; seven grandchildren, Zachary Headden, Nathan Headden, Grant Headden, Garrett Headden, Elliott Headden, Jason Bladecki and Colin Bladecki and two great-grandchildren, Sophie and Ethan Headden.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Julia F. Headden and two brothers, Wilbur and Brock Cummings Headden.

Larry Joe Chandler
1943-2004
GLEASON - Services for Larry Joe Chandler, 60, were at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 14 at Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Julian Huey officiating. Burial was in Martin Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Chandler, disabled from Bell Clay Company, died on Tuesday, May 11 at Henderson County Community Hospital.
He was born September 12, 1943, in Yorkville to the late Leon and Cilla Holley Chandler. He was a member of the Gleason Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo Sullivan Chandler; three daughters, Tammie Kyle, Lori Martin and Amanda, all of Gleason; three stepdaughters, Tammy Seat of Dresden, Brittany Johnson and Carla Brewer, both of Sharon; four brothers, Kerry Chandler and Thomas Chandler, both of Gleason, Ray Chandler of Puryear and Charles Chandler of Modesto, California; five sisters, Ann Hugueley of Gleason, Mae Crews of Dresden, Nell Melton of Paris, Barbara Nunnery of Nashville and Kathy Davis of Martin and nine grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Warren.

Betty Sue Steele
1932-2003
GLEASON - Services for Betty Sue Steele, 70, were Thursday, January 16 at 3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Jim Stubbs, Jack Dickerson and Gene Price officiating. Burial was in the Hopewell cemetery.
Mrs. Steel died on Tuesday, January 14 at McKenzie Health Care Center.
She was born January 28, 1932 to the late Robert and Onie Ruth Hawks Bell. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Gleason Women's Club and United Methodist Women.
A brother, Harold Bell and a sister, Lennie Sudberry preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Ellie H. Steele; four daughters, Debbie Hagler, Amy Orr, Becky Lowrance, all of Gleason and Beth Steele of Nashville; one son, Stan Steele of Gleason; one sister, Virginia Heath of Memphis; one brother, Ralph Bell of Memphis and eight grandchildren.
Gallimore Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

James Elijah "Lige" Parker
1933-2003
MILAN - Services for Jimmy Elijah "Lige" Parker, 69, were at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 16 at the First Baptist Church. Burial was in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery with Bodkin Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Parker, a retired Milan Arsenal employee, died on Sunday, January 12 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Milan, A U.S. Navy veteran, a member of the VFW Post #4780 in Milan and a Bethel College graduate.
Surviving are his wife, Kay Parker; two daughters, Suzanne Parker Tagg of Germantown and Mary Hope Parker Lisle of Arvada, Colorado; a sister, Linda Roe of Bartlett; a brother, Joel Parker of Trenton; a sister-in-law, Ann Adams of McKenzie; and three grandchildren, Williams Parker Green,10, Samuel Jeffrey Green, 7, and Mary Canale Tagg 11 months, all of Germantown.
Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Building Fund.

Lillian Elizabeth Hutcheson
1912-2003
McKENZIE - Mrs. Lillian Elizabeth "Lizzie" Hutcheson, 90, died Thursday, January 16 at the Methodist Healthcare Center in McKenzie. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, January 18 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bobby Mann officiating. Interment icon followed in the Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mrs. Hutcheson was born on February 12, 1912 in Gibson County to the late Bell Finley and Nora Britton Delaney. She was a Baptist by belief. Her husband, Rollie Clifton Hutcheson, who died on November 25, 1993; four sons, Marvin "Buddy" Hutcheson, Bell Hutcheson, Jerry Clyde Hutcheson, and Billy Ray Hutcheson; one daughter, Betty Fay Hutcheson and two infant children, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Jane Hutchins and Shirley Jean McCormack, both of McKenzie; Betty Joe Reynolds of Gleason and Peggy Burton of Bartonville, Illinois; one son, John W. Hutcheson of Chewalla; one brother, James Delaney of McKenzie; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Irby Byrd Sappington
1907-2003
MEMPHIS - Services for Irby Byrd Sappington, 95, were held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 18 at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie with Bro. Roy Graves officiating. Burial was in the Rosehill cemetery in Humboldt.
Mrs. Sappington, widow of Harold A. Sappington, died on Wednesday, January 15 at her residence.
She was born on December 23, 1907 in Parsons to the late Ella Mae Harris Byrd and Arthur T. Byrd. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in McKenzie.
Survivors include a brother, James E. Byrd of Murfreesboro and a sister, Elois Perry of Germantown, several nieces and nephews.

Beatrice Elizabeth Crossett
1913-2003
TREZEVANT - Services for Beatrice Elizabeth Crossett, 89, will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 29 at First Baptist Church in Trezevant with Bro. Malcolm Norton officiating. Burial will be in the McLemoresville cemetery. Brummitt Funeral Home in Trezevant is in charge of the services.
Mrs. Crossett, a former employee at HIS in Trezevant, died on Monday, January 27, at NHC Healthcare in Milan.
She was born October 18, 1913 in Trezevant to the late Ina Simmons and A.G. Mullins. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Trezevant.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Crossett of Atwood; two daughters, Helen Camper of Milan and Dorothy Ann Phillips of Scottsboro, Alabama; a brother, Ben Mullins of Memphis; two sisters, Betty Scott of Trezevant and Alma Hopper of Memphis; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Andrew David Crossett also preceded her in death.

R.C. Goodrich
1924-2003
TREZEVANT - Services for R.C. Goodrich, 78, were held at Bodkin Funeral Home in Milan on January 25 at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Mark Howell of Atwood Church of Christ officiating. Burial followed at Trezevant cemetery.
R.C. was born in Gibson County to Rufus and Nannie Bee Wesson Goodrich and was raised in Carroll County. After serving in Italy in World War II, he moved to Oregon and worked in the logging industry. He then moved to Tennessee where he farmed and worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority. He was a member of the Atwood Church of Christ.
R.C.'s oldest brother James preceded him in death as did his sisters, Maggie Churchwell and Margie Killen. His surviving brother and sisters are Clarence Goodrich and Betty Warf of Coos Bay, Oregon, Peggy Mullin of Cowallis, Oregon, Ada McCombs of Lake, Mississippi and J.C. Goodrich of Mount Holly, New Jersey.
Immediate family consists of R.C.'s wife of forty-eight years, Juana; sons Robert Henderson of North Bend, Oregon, Walter Clent and Rowdy Clarence of Huntingdon; and one daughter, Debby Dean of Karnack, Texas. His daughters-in-law are Mary Ann, Toni and Deborah Goodrich and his son-in-law is David Dean.
He has seven grandchildren, Stephen, Jade and Jamie Goodrich, Nathan Worrell, Charlotte White and Dallas and Dylan Dean.
His five great-grandchildren are Kyle and Ethan Goodrich, Ashton Worrell, Kyler White and Jaylen Williams.
His wit and humor will be missed by those who loved him, his family and friends alike.

Robbie Imogene Butler
1938-2003
BUENA VISTA - Mrs. Robbie Imogene Butler, 65, died on Tuesday, December 16 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, December 18 at 1:00 p.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Leland Butler officiating. Interment icon followed in the Butler cemetery.
Mrs. Butler was born September 29, 1938 in Henderson County to the late Robert and Iris Blankenship Shands. She was an employee of the Thomas Bradford Shirt Corp. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Shands.
Survivors include her husband, Myron Timothy Butler; two sons, Charles Michael Melton of Paris and Tony Lee Melton of Orlando, Florida; a stepdaughter, Carolyn Clark of Bruceton; a sister, Carol Waugh of Gleason; four brothers, Larry Shands and Roger Shands, both of Huntingdon; Darrell Shands of Buena Vista and Ricky Shands of McKenzie; two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.

Minnie Norden Lewis
1911-2006
HUNTINGDON - Minnie Norden Lewis, 94, died Monday, January 9, at her home. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, January 10, at New Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church. Interment icon followed in the New Crossroads cemetery. Brother Rufus Chandler officiated.
Mrs. Lewis was born October 9, 1911, in Carroll County, to the late James T. and Martha Elizabeth Melton Norden. She was a homemaker and a member of the New Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Connie Lewis, on September 14, 1997, and three sisters: Ludie Noles, Tessie Bailey, and Nadine James.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Bullington of Huntingdon and Martha (Jimmy) Williams of Hollow Rock; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
