Rena Seats
1910-2003
HUNTINGDON - Services for Rena Seats, 93, were held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 18 at Little Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Ms. Seats, widow of Homer Seats, died on Friday, December 12 at Huntingdon Health and Rehab Center.
She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine Williamson and grandson, James D. Williamson, both of Detroit, Michigan; a sister-in-law, Mary Thomas of Milan, nieces Rena Alge and Pamela Taylor of Bruceton and a host of relatives and friends.
Rawls Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

J.L. Smothers
1925-2003
HOLLOW ROCK - Mr. J.L. Smothers, 78, died on Tuesday, December 16 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, December 18 at 2:00 p.m. at the Marlboro Baptist Church with Brothers Jack Hopper and Jerry Hollingsworth officiating. Interment icon followed in Humbles cemetery.
Mr. Smothers was born June 1, 1925 in Carroll County to the late John Logan and Sally Ann Lewis Smothers. He was a self-employed carpenter, a member of the Marlboro Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by a sister, Verlya Wilkes.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Bertha Trull Smothers; a sister, Hazel Thomas of Huntingdon and two brothers, Charles Smothers and Leo Smothers, both of Huntingdon.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mamie Claire Richardson Williams
1913-2003
LAVINIA - Funeral services for Mrs. Mamie Claire Richardson Williams, 90, were at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 19 at the Lavinia Methodist Church with Reverend Eugene Leslie officiating. Burial was in the Lavinia cemetery.
Mrs. Williams, a retired schoolteacher, died on Tuesday, December 16 at McKenzie Regional Hospital. She was a member of the Medina Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Williams; a brother, John Glover Richardson and a sister, Irene Caldwell.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Williams Burkett of Lavinia.
The family request memorials be directed to the West Carroll Primary School Library in McLemoresville.
Bodkin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangement.

Ella Frances Bowers
1918-2003
TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA - Graveside services for Ella Frances Bowers, 85, formerly of Gleason, were at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, December 11 in Sandhill cemetery with the Rev. Dennis Scott officiating.
Mrs. Bowers, retired senior associate with Investors Realty, died Friday, December 5 at Westminster Oaks Health Center in Tallahassee.
She was born June 26, 1918 in Gleason to the late Herman and Pauline Barnett Weldon. She was a member of the East Hill Baptist Church and Tallahassee Garden Club.
Survivors include two sons, Gene Weldon Bowers of Tallahassee, Florida and Terry Alan Bowers of New York City, New York; a sister, Ruby Wallace of Fennville, Michigan; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Harold Bowers; two brothers, Raymond Weldon and Barnett Weldon and a sister, Louise Smothers.

Michael Meade Curry
1957-2003
HUNTINGDON - Mr. Michael Meade Curry, 46, passed away on Monday, December 22 at the Life Care Center in Bruceton. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, December 23 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kenny Carr officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 27 in the McElwee cemetery in Minniehaha, West Virginia with the Rev. Betty Shields officiating.
Mr. Curry was born January 9, 1957 in Orlando, Florida to the late Ralph White and Margaret Wilson McElwee Curry. He was a construction worker all his life and worked for the Behlen Manufacturing Company prior to a long illness.
Survivors include his wife, Kelly Curry; one son, Michael Meade Curry, Jr. of Huntingdon; five sisters, Mary Diller of Marlinton, West Virginia, Diane Jenson of Sanford Florida and Sharon Curry, LuAnne Moore and Sue McDaniel, all of Orlando and two brothers, Bob Curry of Orlando, Florida and Ralph Curry of Lilburn, Georgia.

Leron Ethel Jones
1912-2003
GLEASON - Services for Mrs. Leron Ethel Jones, 91, were held on Tuesday, December 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Seminary Methodist Church. Burial took place in Seminary cemetery.
Mrs. Jones, the widow of Willie Oval Jones, died Sunday, December 21 at Volunteer Community Hospital.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty Freeman of Gleason and son Bobby Jones of Trenton; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Thomas Eugene Spain
1927-2003
CEDAR GROVE - Mr. Thomas Eugene Spain, 75, died on Saturday, January 25 at his home. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, January 28 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Robert Barger officiating. Interment icon followed in the Pleasant Hill cemetery.
Mr. Spain was born on August 19, 1927 in Cedar Grove. He was a retired truck driver for Tennessee Pump and Supply, a member and elder of the Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church and loved to be outdoors and work on the farm. His father, Thomas Stacy Spain and two infant brothers, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Wilma Jean Jones Spain; his mother, Margaret Laverne Spain of Cedar Grove, several nephews and cousins.

Mary Otilla Edmonston
1911-2003
GLEASON - Services for Mary Otilla Edmonston, 91, were on Thursday, January 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Gallimore Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Bennett officiating. Burial was in West Union cemetery.
Mrs. Edmonston, a retired nurse, died on Tuesday, January 21, at Volunteer Community Hospital.
She was born on August 30, 1911 in Piggott, Arkansas to the late Elbert Reavis and Daisy Hughes Travillian. She was a member of the Gleason Church of Christ, Eastern Star and Home Demonstration Club.
Three brothers, Lloyd Travillian, Glen Travillian and Noah Travillian also preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Robert 'Duck' Edmonston, stepdaughters, Gloria Taylor of Gleason and Suzette Wade of Atlanta Georgia and brothers, Roy Travillian of Gleason and Inloe Travillian of Greenville, Indiana, several nieces and nephews.

Heather Nicole Hayes Ellis
1977-2003
BUENA VISTA - Mrs. Heather Nicole Hayes Ellis, 25, died on Tuesday, January 21 at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, January 25 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Fred Ward and Bro. Marshall Gurley officiating. Burial followed in the McAuley cemetery.
Mrs. Ellis was born on August 2, 1977 in Huntingdon. She was a coordinator for the Department of Human Services and graduate from Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central High School in 1995. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Cova and Chlorine Hayes and her maternal grandparents, Edward and Sue Kirby.
Survivors include her husband, Clint Ellis; one daughter, Emilee Ellis, one son, Caleb Ellis, her father and mother, Roger and Brenda Kirby Hayes of Buena Vista; one sister, Tracy Barrett and one brother, Chris Hayes, both of Huntingdon.

Frances McGee Cox
1911-2003
BRUCETON - Services for Frances McGee Cox, 91, were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 26 at Bruceton Funeral home with the Revs. Richard Carruth and Steve White officiating.
Mrs. Cox, a retired seamstress for HIS, died Friday, January 24 at Camden General Hospital.
She was born June 10, 1911 in Rutherford to the late Robert Gilford McGee and Freda Davidson McGee. She was a member of the Bruceton First United Methodist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary.
Her husband, C.D. Cox, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Potts of Bruceton, two sisters, Margaret Taylor of Camden and Joyce Ragland of Oak Ridge; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Marvin B. 'Bo' Thompson
1918-2003
PINE BLUFF, ARKANSAS - Marvin B. 'Bo' Thompson, 84, died early Tuesday morning, January 14 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.
He was born on July 12, 1918, a son of the late Fonzie C. and Mary Ione Bobo Thompson of McKenzie. He was reared and educated in McKenzie before moving to Pine Bluff in 1941. As a young man he worked on the family farm while in Tennessee and worked as a carpenter in Pine Bluff. He then served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war he returned to Pine Bluff and began work at the Pine Bluff Arsenal where he became Chief of Facilities Maintenance. He retired in 1979 after 33 years of service at the arsenal. Mr. Thompson married Virginia Henderson on November 3, 1945 in Pine Bluff. She preceded him in death on January 29, 2002.
Mr. Thompson was a member and deacon at Central Presbyterian Church. The American Legion Post 232 member was a Master Mason with memberships included at Pine Bluff Lodge #69, Free and Accepted Masons; the York Rite Bodies; Lafayette Chapter Number 7 and the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons; English Council Number 14 of the Royal and Select Masters and Damascus Commandery Number 8, Knights Templar.
Survivors include a son, M.E. 'Tommy' Thompson of Pine Bluff; a daughter, Patricia Lynn Bryant of Pine Bluff; three brothers, Joe A. Thompson of Plano, Texas, Edward Blake Thompson of Memphis and Fred C. Thompson of Franklin and four grandchildren.
Services were Thursday, January 23 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Knott officiating. Interment icon was in the Graceland cemetery. The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to Central Presbyterian Church, 6300 Trinity Drive, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71603.

GARY BOLEN GOOCH
1957-2008
YUMA - Gary Bolen Gooch, 50, died Monday, April 14, at his home. Funeral services were Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Don McKee officiating. Burial followed in New Hope cemetery.
Mr. Gooch was born July 23, 1957 in Jackson. He was a maintenance worker for Natchez Trace State Park. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.
Survivors include: his parents, Grover Bolen Gooch and Mae Henri (Barger) Gooch; and one sister, Leanne (Ward) Pritchard.
