HUNTINGDON - Katherine Ann Nellett, 46, died Tuesday, April 15, in Memphis. Funeral services were Saturday, April 19, at 1 p.m. at Dilday Funeral Home with Bro. Charles J. Hardy officiating. Burial followed in Liberty All cemetery.
Mrs. Nellett was born February 6, 1962 in Hammond, Indiana to the late Everett Lee and June Ann Bunn Cooper, Sr. She was a homemaker. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Robert Nellett; one sister, Mary Braneck; and two brothers, Everett Lee Cooper, Jr. and John Reuben Cooper.
Survivors include: her husband, Chester Nellett; five sons, Chester (Katie) Nellett, Jr. of Gary, Indiana, Daniel (Telisha) Nellett of Griffith, Indiana, Brian Nellett, Anthony Nellett and Randy Nellett, all of Huntingdon; two sisters, Noretta (Steve) White of Huntingdon and Cynthia (Clifford) Smith of Griffith, Indiana; and six grandchildren.

OPAL EARLINE BARKER
1934-2008
McKENZIE - Opal Earline Barker, 73, died Thursday, April 17, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris. Funeral services were Saturday, April 19, at 2 p.m. at McKenzie Funeral Home with Bro. Dennis Beal and Bro. Greg Parker officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Olivet cemetery in McKenzie.
Mrs. Barker was born May 2, 1934 in Linden to the late James Alvis and Addie Viola Paschall Marshall. She was a waitress for Hig's Restaurant in Milan; a member of Blooming Grove Methodist Church and a member of the VFW Post #4939 Ladies Auxiliary. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one stepson, Kenneth Barker; and eight brothers and sisters, John Thomas Marshall, Edward Marshall, Billie Ray Marshall, James Marshall, Ruby Frances Burrow, Mary Lorene Blankenship, Ruth Marshall and Myrtle Cain.
Survivors include: her husband, Ray Barker of McKenzie; two sons, Marshall Wade Thompson, Sr. of LaPlace, Louisiana and Kim Barker of McKenzie; one daughter, Linda E. Nored of McKenzie; one sister, Betty Collins of Portland, Oregon; three grandchildren, Marshall Wade Thompson, Jr., Amy Dawn King, and Kimberly Hall; and two great-grandchildren, Brandon M. Scott and Taylor Hall.

BRENDA ELIZABETH WINTERS
1954-2008
ATWOOD - Brenda Elizabeth Winters, 53, died Saturday, April 19, at her home after several months of illness. Funeral services were Tuesday, April 22, at 10 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Jackson. Burial followed in Pisgah cemetery.
Mrs. Winters was born July 15, 1954 in Columbus, Mississippi. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Jackson where she was the pianist. She was preceded in death by her father, Sidney Russell Wood.
Survivors include: her husband, Lloyd B. Winters; her mother, Mary Louise Wood; one daughter, Tanya (Travis) Johnson; one son, Robert L. (Jennifer) Winters; three stepchildren, Lloyd Dewayne, Mark Allen and Matthew; two sisters, Linda Winters and Sherrie Wood; and four grandchildren.

Robert L. McKee
1912-2003
CEDAR GROVE - Services for Robert L. McKee, 90, were on Friday, January 24 at 1:00 p.m. at Reed's Chapel in Lexington with Charles Thomason, P.J. Hardie, John Mustain and Jerry Mills officiating. Burial was in Bargerton Church of Christ cemetery.
Mr. McKee died on January 21 at McNairy County Hospital in Selmer.
He was a retired auto dealer and merchant and was a member of the Bargerton Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Clara Mildred McKee; five daughters, Sandra Kay Morris, Marcia McNatt, and Melda Mills, all of Lexington; Robbie Morrissett of Cedar Grove and Reba Pruitt of Wildersville; one son, Jerry McKee of Lexington; two sisters, Linnie Sue Pierce of Humboldt and Helen Johnson of Lexington and three brothers, Connie McKee of Lexington, Pete McKee of Milan and Elston Dude McKee of Perry, Florida; thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Ben Marlin Gaines, Sr.
1922-2003
McKENZIE - Ben Marlin Gaines, Sr., 80, died on Tuesday, January 7 at the McKenzie Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness. Services were held at the First United Methodist Church in McKenzie on Saturday, January 11 at 2:30 p.m. Burial followed at Carroll Memorial Gardens in McKenzie.
The son of Benjamin Franklin Gaines and Mary Idella Williard, Mr. Gaines was born May 12, 1922 in Etta, Mississippi.
Mr. Gaines was founder of Gaines Manufacturing Company in McKenzie, a business he started in his garage in Memphis after which he began making furniture for the Holiday Inn chain of hotels. The business moved to McKenzie in 1958, eventually blossoming into an enterprise requiring 700 employees.
Mr. Gaines' entrepreneurial ventures included, among others, the development of a motel, bowling alley, golf course, trucking company, restaurant, Wal-Mart centers, and go-cart production.
Mr. Gaines was a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church in McKenzie.
Adored by his family, he is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mrs. Ludie Montgomery Gaines; their children: Patricia Gaines Kriebel and husband Robert of Franklin; Jodie Gaines Johnson and husband Jeff of McKenzie; and Ben Gaines Jr. of Jackson, and seven grandchildren: Jennifer Johnson, Jessica Johnson, Jake Johnson, and John Johnson of McKenzie; Ben Gaines III and Bailey Gaines of Jackson; and Robert Scott Kriebel of Franklin; and sisters: Alvarce Sneed of Corinth, Mississippi and Sibyl Garner of Holly Springs, Mississippi.
Pallbearers at the 2:30 p.m. service were Dr. Harold Russell, Mr. Ralph Walker, Mr. David Thompson, Mr. Billy Perritt, Mr. Dennis Eason, Mr. Doyle Reaves, Mr. Danny Laster, and Mr. W.D. Wilson. Honorary Pallbearers include Mr. Fred Homra, founder of the Holiday Inn hotels and lifelong friend Mr. Kemmons Wilson, and Anti-tank Company buddies from across the United States.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Ben and Ludie Gaines Scholarship Fund at Bethel College or the First United Methodist Church in McKenzie.

Lorene Dellinger
1912-2003
GLEASON - Services for Lorene Dellinger, 90, were at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 9 at First Baptist Church with the Reverends Rayman Carneal, Kenny Carr and Kenneth Roberts officiating. Burial was in the Beech Springs cemetery.
Mrs. Dellinger, a retired employee of Henry I. Siegel, died on Monday, January 6 at McKenzie Regional Hospital.
She was born on October 16, 1912 in Gleason to the late Charlie Columbus and Fannie Mae Wright Branon. She was a member of the Gleason First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol McDaniel and Marilyn Douglas, both of Gleason, three sons, Joe Lynn Dellinger of New Johnsonville, Ronnie Dellinger of Gleason and Vincent Dellinger of Martin, a sister, Lucille Pulciani of Bensonville, Illinois, 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Gallimore Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

John Austin Forrest
1927-2003
HOLLOW ROCK - Mr. John Austin Forrest, 75, died on Tuesday, January 7 at his home. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, January 9 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jimmy Allison and Brother Bob White officiating. Interment icon followed in the Hebron cemetery.
Mr. Forrest was born on February 10, 1927 in Carroll County to the late Lloyd and Gladys Lane Forrest. He was a World War II veteran and his faith was in the Methodist Church. His wife, Mildred Katherine Forrest, who died August 11, 2002 and one son, Dennis Harold Forrest Sr., also preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary K. Sills of Huntingdon; one son, James Roy Forrest of Hollow Rock; two brothers, Walter Forrest of Camden and Aurbry Forrest of Hollow Rock; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ruby Lane
1909-2003
BRUCETON - Mrs. Ruby Lane, 93, died Monday, January 6 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, January 9 at 11:00 a.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Wayne Chesser officiating. Interment icon followed in the Palmer Shelter cemetery.
Mrs. Lane, the daughter of the late Quitman and Una Massey Mann, was born September 1, 1909 in Carroll County. She was a retired employee of Henry I. Siegel and a member of the Pentecostal Church. Her first husband, Jimmy Lee Usery and her second husband, Doyle Lane, one daughter, Thelma Gene Simon; one brother, James Mann and three sisters, Claris Lowe, Lena Wilkes and Lorene Bell also preceded her in death.
Survivors include three daughters, Juanita Smith of Bruceton, Virginia Sparks of Madison, Indiana and Betty Sue Piper of Florence, Oregon; two sisters, Mrs. Odell Townsend and Mrs. Willodean McGee, both of Huntingdon; 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Prudie Adeline McLemore
1918-2003
McKENZIE - Services for Prudie Adeline McLemore, 84, were at 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 10 at Bierley-Hale Funeral Home in Madisonville with burial in Hopewell Spring cemetery.
Mrs. McLemore died on Tuesday, January 7 at Henry County Medical Center.
She was born February 6, 1918 in Madisonville to the late Joseph Henry Williams and Janie White Williams.
Survivors include her husband, John McLemore and daughter, Bonnie Joyner of McKenzie; two sons, J.R. and Linden McLemore of Madisonville; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church in Monroe County.

Katie G. Ownby
1910-2003
McKENZIE - Services for Katy G. Ownby, 92, were at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 13 at Brummitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Harrell Nation officiating. Burial was in the Shiloh cemetery.
Mrs. Ownby, widow of Angel Ownby, died on Friday, January 10 at McKenzie Regional Hospital.
She was born on September 26, 1910 in Cedar Grove to the late Esther Humphreys Gregg and Henry Gregg. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in McKenzie.
Survivors include her son, Larry Ownby of McKenzie, two sisters, Christine Green of Jackson and Lucy Keele of Pendelton, Oregon; one brother, Max Gregg of Huntingdon; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Bernice M. Rust
1920-2003
Services for Mrs. Bernice M. Rust, 82, were at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 8 at Eastview Baptist Church in Huntingdon with Rev. James H. 'Jim' Rust officiating. Burial followed in Liberty All cemetery.
Mrs. Rust, the widow of Dolph Rust, died on Monday, January 6 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. He was born in Blytheville, Arkansas, daughter of the late Dewey and Lola Goodman Lane.
She leaves a daughter, Lottie Torkelson of Gleason; four sons, Larry 'Bubba' Rust of Gleason, Terry Rush of Chester, Texas, Lee Rust of McKenzie and Jimmy Rust of Marshall, Texas; 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home of Jackson was in charge of the arrangements.

Norma J. Perkins
1935-2003
McKENZIE - Services for Norma J. Perkins, 67, were at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 11 at Brummitt Funeral Home with Bro. Roy Auvenshine officiating. Burial was in Everett's Chapel cemetery.
Mrs. Perkins, co-owner of Jerry's Muffler Shop in McKenzie, died Thursday, January 9 at McKenzie Regional Hospital. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gleason.
She was born May 16, 1935 in McKenzie.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry B. Perkins and a son, Joe Perkins, both of McKenzie; two brothers, Joe Alexander and Lyndell Alexander, both of Dresden; a sister, Becky Verdell of Gleason; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Her parents, Ira D. and Lula Underwood Alexander, preceded her in death.
