TREZEVANT - Services for Mary Virginia Bryant Argo, 85, will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 5 at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Trezevant. Burial will be in the Trezevant cemetery. Brummitt Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Argo, a retired teacher's aide in Trezevant schools, died on Monday, February 3 at Jackson Skilled Nursing in Jackson.
She was born July 10, 1917 in Trezevant to the late Mary O'Neill Bryant and Hillard Lee Bryant. She was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Trezevant where she served as pianist/organist for 70 years.
Survivors include her husband, W. Buman Argo, Jr; two sons, William B. Argo III of Germantown and David Argo of Jackson; three grandchildren, Bradley Argo, Kevin Argo and Timothy Argo.
A sister, Georgia Bryant Hinton, also preceded her in death.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 4 from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
John Howard Black
1919-2002
GLEASON - Services for John Howard Black, 83, were at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 31 at Gallimore Funeral Home with the Revs. Roy Auvenshine and Dale Mathis officiating. Burial was in the Sand Hill cemetery.
Mr. Black, retired from Bell Clay Company, died on Saturday, December 28 at his home.
He was born September 17, 1919 in Gleason to the late Allie and Pearl May Trentham Black. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gleason.
Survivors include his wife, Lyndell Black; two sons, Richard Allen Black and David Black, both of Gleason; two stepsons, Bobby Langley of McKenzie and Robert Earl Langley of San Antonio, Texas; a step-daughter, Marilynn Anderson of McKenzie; 22 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
A son, James Howard Black and five brothers, Coy Black, Bill Black, Ed Black, Richard D. Black and Hulon Black also preceded him in death.
Jimmy Dale Waller
1949-2002
LAVINIA - Services for Jimmy Dale Waller, 53, were at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 30 at Bodkin Funeral Home in Milan with burial in Hopewell cemetery. Mr. Waller, a shipping clerk for Gerdau-Ameristeel, died on December 28 at his residence.
He was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Waller of Lavinia; a daughter, Amy Soltys of Milan; four sisters, Betty Walls of Lavinia, Shirley Bell of Nashville, Doris Hinson of Medina and Brenda Truett of Lavinia; a brother Jeff Waller of McLemoresville; and two grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society.
Floyd Inman

TREZEVANT - Services for Floyd Inman, 81, were at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 5 at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial in Trezevant cemetery.
Mr. Inman, a retired Milan Arsenal employee, member of the Trezevant United Methodist Church and World War II U.S. Army veteran, died on Friday, January 3 at Milan General Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Inman of Trezevant; one daughter, Deborah Sullivan of McKenzie; one son, Keith Inman of Trezevant; one sister, Lena Keymon of Nashville; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Patrick Daniel "Dan" Blackwell, Jr.
1919-2002
BRUCETON - Services for Patrick Daniel "Dan" Blackwell, Jr., 83, were held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 2 at Bruceton Methodist Church with burial in Prospect cemetery.
Mr. Blackwell died on Tuesday, December 31. He was a retired engineer for L&N Railroad and was an engineer in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in China, Burma and India conflict.
His wife, Mary Blackwell, preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Thorne of Memphis and Mary Johnson of Bruceton; one son, Dennis Blackwell of Bruceton; one sister, Frances Spence of Nashville; one brother, Bobby Blackwell of Pennsylvania; and four grandchildren.

Gertrude Woodard Crossno

Mrs. Gertrude Woodard Crossno, 89, died on Saturday, January 4 at the Oak Manor Nursing Home in McKenzie. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, January 7 at 1:00 p.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Phillip Halter officiating. Interment
followed in Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Crossno, the daughter of the late Eddie and Lillie McCormick Woodard, was born on March 18, 1913 in Carroll County. She married
T.J. Crossno on February 7, 1929 and he preceded her in death on December 2, 1991. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. A brother, Clarence Woodard and two sisters, Irene Thorne and Lucille Kelly, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Frances Edwards of McKenzie; a foster daughter, Marie Dunning of Atwood; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Willie Brown Foster

McKENZIE - Services for Willie Brown Foster, 97, will be at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 8 at Republican Grove Baptist Church in Trezevant. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Foster, retired custodian at First United Methodist Church, died on Monday, January 6 at Methodist Hospital in McKenzie.
He was born on August 29, 1905 in Trezevant to the late Sara Elizabeth Belew Foster and Franklin Brown Foster. He was a member of the Republican Grove Baptist Church in Trezevant.
Survivors include two daughters, Faye Gaskins and Sara Jane Pratt, both of McKenzie; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
His wife, Myrtle Estelle Cantrell Foster also preceded him in death.

Pauline J. Johnson

HUNTINGDON - Services for Pauline J. Johnson, 75, were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 5 at Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church in Huntingdon with the Rev. Lonnie Parker officiating. Burial was in the Humbles cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson died on Wednesday, January 1 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
She was born on November 18, 1927 in Carroll County to the late Girlba Jamison and Ila Willis Jamison.
Survivors include a son, Robert Jamison of Huntingdon; four sister, Lorine Pearson, Ora M. Fitzgerald, Helen Webb and Frances Edwards, all of Bruceton; two brothers, W.T. Jamison and Rev. Ivey Jamison, both of Huntingdon; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

ATWOOD - Services for James O. Simmons, 79, were on Saturday, January 4 at 1:00 p.m. at the Reedy Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Hillsman officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery in McLemoresville.
He died on Tuesday, December 31 in Huntingdon.
He was born on May 6, 1923 to the late John Ira and Anna Nesbitt Simmons. A brother, Felix "Jack" Simmons also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Verlene Simmons; five children, Frances Simmons, Thelma Lord and Barbara Adams, all of Gary, Indiana, Persina Savage of Jackson and Priscilla Slate of McLemoresville; a brother, Odell Simmons of McLemoresville; three sisters, Onie Luter and Evelyn Hillsman, both of McLemoresville and Rosie Mitchell of Gary, Indiana; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews.

followed in the Pleasant Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Ledsinger was born on December 14, 1909 in Carroll County to the late Noel and Pearl Lewis Kelly. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time gardening, sewing and cooking. A daughter, Audrey Bowers and a grandson, Dennie Thomsen also preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Sue Thomsen of Collegedale; three sons, Wayne Dunn and Weldon Dunn, both of Cedar Grove and Charles Dunn of Lockport Illinois; two sisters, Berlyn Barger and Nolene Barger; two brothers, Dwayne Kelly and Billy Dean Kelly, all of Cedar Grove; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Maurine Nance

JACKSON - Funeral services for Maurine Nance, 79, were held on Saturday, December 28 at Arrington Funeral Directors with Rev. Bill McClarin officiating. Burial was in the Highland Memorial Gardens.
Ms. Nance died on Wednesday, December 25 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
She was born on July 9, 1923 in Carroll County, the daughter of Amssel Baker and Laurine Wilkins Baker.
She was a member of the Northside United Methodist Church and worked as a cashier for Western Sizzlin North for many years.
Mrs. Nance is survived by one son, Terry Nance of Jackson; one daughter, Linda Nance of Nashville and one granddaughter.
