Billy Stephen McPherson
1925-2006
HOLLOW ROCK - Billy Stephen McPherson, 80, died at his residence Thursday, February 23. Services were held Sunday, February 26 at Bruceton Funeral Home with Ted Gentle officiating. Burial was at Poplar Springs near Atwood.
Mr. McPherson, a millwright, was born March 5, 1925, near Milan, to the late Ben E. and Martha Jamison Owen McPherson. He served with the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas O. McPherson and is survived by one brother, Ben A. McPherson of Hollow Rock.

George Lendell King
1930-2006
GLEASON - George Lendell King, 75, died Wednesday, February 22, at Weakley County Nursing Home. Services were held Saturday, February 25 in the chapel of Gallimore Funeral Home with the Rev. Keith Sumner officiating. Burial followed in the New Hope cemetery.
Mr. King was born March 7, 1930, in Gleason, to the late Charles Webster and Bertie Mae Brogdon King. He was a retired Army master sergeant and served in the Korean and Vietnam wars.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Charlie Mae Taylor.

Edna L. Stubblefield Hill
1931-2006
PARIS - Edna L. Stubblefield Hill, 74, died Tuesday, February 21, at her residence. Funeral services were Saturday, February 25, at Trinity Funeral Home with burial in Greenwood cemetery.
Mrs. Hill was born October 10, 1931, in Dresden, to the late B.T. and Maggie Curtis.
She is survived by her husband, James Hill, who survives.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James L. Stubblefield Sr.; two sisters, Myra Dunlap and Lizzie B. Curtis; three brothers, Hurley Allen, Booker T. Curtis and Bennie L. Curtis; one son, Jessie E. Stubblefield; and one grandson, Andr'e Fletcher.
She is also survived by five sons, James (Wanda) Stubblefield Jr., of Mayfield, Ronnie (Verma) Stubblefield of McKenzie, Royce Stubblefield of Detroit, Michigan, Nelson Stubblefield of Canon City, Colorado, and Timothy Stubblefield of Atlanta, Georgia; five daughters: Marylen (Harry) Burton, Betty (Eddie) Anderson, Cheryl (James) Davis of Paris, Edna (John) Howard, and Debra Williams of Kansas City, Missouri; one brother, Troy L. Curtis, of Detroit, MI.; 49 grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Gernie Laverne Wortham
1932-2006
HUNTINGDON - Gernie Laverne Wortham, 73, died Tuesday, February 21, in a hospital in Zephyrhills, Florida. Services were held Saturday, February 25 at Tate Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Larry Depriest officiating. Burial followed in the Wortham cemetery.
Mrs. Wortham was born September 28, 1932, in Houston, Mississippi, to the late Horace and Cynthia Elizabeth Cridle Kilgore. She was a housewife and member of Tate Pentecostal Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bedford Wortham Sr.
She is survived by five daughters: Cynthia Haddock, Deborah Moudy, Brenda Taylor, Barbara Moudy and Laurie Foreman; eight sons: Bedford Wortham Jr., Sammy Wortham, Ben Wortham, Randy Wortham, David Wortham, Robert Wortham, Scott Wortham, and Mark Wortham; five sisters: Geneva Mooneham, Betty Sue King, Barbara Fay Franks, Pamela Samuels, and Malene Gordon; four brothers: Billy Ray Kilgore, Warren Kilgore, James Kilgore, and Dennis Kilgore; 40 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

Roger Lewis Hurt
1953-2006
McKENZIE - Roger Lewis Hurt, 52, died Sunday, February 19, at his residence. Services were held Saturday, February 25, at Mount Ararat Missionary Baptist Church in Trezevant with the Rev. C.E. Pipkin officiating. Interment icon was in the Mt. Ararat cemetery with Baskerville Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hurt was born November 9, 1953, to the late Lewis Charles Hurt and Martha Adkisson Hurt of Trezevant, who survives. He was a member of Mount Ararat Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Annerine Williams Hurt, with whom he was married on August 31, 1974; two daughters: Monica Hurt of McKenzie and Lakisha Curtis of Dresden; one sister, Priscilla Dotson of Milan; one brother, Ernest Hurt of McKenzie; seven grandchildren, five aunts, three nephews, a devoted friend, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Brian Keith Robinson
1965-2006
McKENZIE - Brian Keith Robinson, 40, died Sunday, February 19, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Services were held Saturday, February 25, at Obion River District Association in McKenzie with Elder Donald Fisher officiating. Interment icon followed in Mt. Olive cemetery.
Mr. Robinson was born June 22, 1965, in Milan, to Bobby Gene Chappell and Shirley Robinson, both of whom survive. He was a deacon of Friendly Church of God in Christ.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Angela Robinson and grandmother, Mary Robinson-Bramley.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry Denise Horton Robinson, with whom he was married on November 20, 1992; one daughter, Kevashia Robinson and one step-son, James Latron Horton, both of McKenzie; three brothers: Tyrone Williams, Waylon (Tiffany) Williams and Tony (Ryane) Williams, all of McKenzie; one half-sister, Gina Johnson of Beech Bluff; three stepbrothers: Monterius Chappell of Wildersville, Vincent (Chasity) Chappell of Hollow Rock, and Timmy (Alfreda) Chappell of Bruceton; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Nina Maye Brevard
1913-2006
NASHVILLE - Nina Maye Brevard, 92, formerly of McKenzie, died Sunday, February 19, at Lakeshore Wedgewood Nursing Home in Nashville. Services will be held Saturday, March 4, at 2:00 p.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie with burial in Mt. Olivet cemetery. Bro. Jim Roberts will officiate. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 4, from 10:30 a.m. until time of service.
Mrs. Brevard, a homemaker, was born May 4, 1913, in Henry, to the late Robert L. Lee Sr. and Luna Wallace Lee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nunley Brevard; one brother, Harry Lee; and one sister, Dathel Sneed.
She is survived by one brother, Robert Lee of Nashville.

Janice Gail Evans
1950-2006
PARIS - Janice Gail Evans, 55, died Thursday, February 16, at her residence. A memorial service was conducted Sunday, February 19 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Gary S. Collier officiating.
Mrs. Evans was born April 23, 1950, in Henry County, to the late Coscola Evans and Arlene Green Evans of Paris, who survives. She was a former Howell's Resort employee and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her fiancee', Mark Prince, who dies December 5, 2004, and one sister, Donna Evans.
She is survived by two daughters: Denise (Matthew) Crank and Linda "Dinky" Goines, both of Paris; one sister, Judy Harper of Paris; three brothers, J.L. (Joyce) Evans and Randy Evans, both of Paris, and Van (Lynda) Evans of Henry; and four grandchildren.

Mark Anthony Gurley
1962-2006
CLARKSBURG - Mark Anthony Gurley, 43, died Saturday, January 14, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted Monday, January 16, at Clarksburg Missionary Baptist Church. Interment icon followed in the Clarksburg cemetery. Chase Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Gurley was born June 26, 1962, in Carroll County. He was a self-employed carpenter and a school bus driver for the Clarksburg school system.
He is survived by his father and mother, Melvin and Maxine Gurley of Yuma; one brother, Gregory (Brenda) Gurley of Cedar Grove; one Godchild, Tristan Umstead; three nieces; one nephew; three great-nieces; and three great-nephews.

Carolyn Montgomery
1930-2006
MEMPHIS - Carolyn Montgomery, 75, formerly of McKenzie, died Saturday, January 14, at Overton Park Healthcare. A memorial service was held Monday, January 16, at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel.
Mrs. Montgomery was preceded in death by her daughter, Marilyn Jones.
She is survived by one son, Charlie Montgomery; two brothers, Victor Clark of McKenzie and N.W. Gates of Memphis; three sisters, Anita Bringe of Oceanside, California, Tomi Kyker of Athens, Georgia, and Ellie Bowden of Florissant, Missouri; a stepmother, Iona Clark of Hughes, Arkansas; a son-in-law, Glenn Jones of Houston, Texas; and five grandchildren.

Estell Harris Blazer
1922-2006
ATWOOD - Estell Harris Blazer, 83, died Saturday, January 14, at Milan General Hospital. Graveside services were conducted January 17 at Double Springs cemetery, near Humboldt, by the Rev. Joe Stanford. Bodkin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Blazer was born April 24, 1922, in Gibson County, to Columbus and Lula Caviness Harris, both deceased. She was a homemaker and domestic and a member of First Baptist Church Atwood.
She was preceded in death by a son, Dwayne Blazer.
She is survived by her husband, Leon Blazer; one daughter, Donna J. (James) Nelson of Atwood; one brother, Guy Harris of Milan; two sisters, Helen Turner of Trezevant and Evelyn Fugett of Dyersburg; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Ernest Russell Adams
1922-2006
McKENZIE - Ernest Russell Adams, 83, died Friday, January 13, at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Services were conducted Sunday, January 15, in the Cedar Avenue Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home with Bro. Vance Rushing and Bro. Dennis Beal officiating. Interment icon followed in Caledonia cemetery.
Mr. Adams was born in November 17, 1922, to the late Ernest Lee and Flossie Mae Holland Adams. He was a mechanic and heavy equipment operator and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by four brothers: George Elvis Adams, Dalton Adams, Delbert Adams, and Billy Joe Adams; and two sisters, Violet Spicer and Erma Nell Barker.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Britton Adams; two daughters, Brenda Franklin and Teresa Winchester, both of McKenzie; one son, Ray Bouldin of Linden; two step-sons, Bobby Bouldin of Huron and Michael (Mike) Bouldin of Fisher, Indiana; two sisters, Velma Cuff and Linda Bowers, both of Gleason; two brothers, Wray Adams of Vicksburg, Michigan, and William (Bill) Adams of McKenzie; six grandchildren: Jason Winchester, Bethany Franklin, Shelley Wood, Cari Jean Franklin, Eddy Franklin, and Jessica Bouldin; six step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren: Jakob, Landon, Laney, Will, Joseph, Adrianna, and Lawrence; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Gertrude Ellen Milton
1943-2006
McKENZIE - Gertrude Ellen Milton died Wednesday, January 11, at her residence. Services were conducted at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in McKenzie. Burial followed in Olivet cemetery with Rev. Dr. Carl Whitfield as eugolist. Trinity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Milton was born July 31, 1943, in McKenzie, to the late Albert and Bennie Horton Curtis.
She was preceded in death by one son, Dewayne Milton; one brother, James Albert Curtis; and one sister, Vivian Burrows.
She is survived by a daughter, Luwanna (James) Hancox of Martin; two sons, James (Elouise) Milton of Cordova, California, and Steven (Juanita) Milton of Toledo, Ohio; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; companion, Jerry Vincent; three sisters, Connie Allen of McKenzie and Alberta (Mayoltha) Tharpe of Paris, Carol (Carl) Whitfield of Bowling Green, Kentucky; several other nieces, nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
