Ruth Gaynelle Scott
1918-2002
CLARKSBURG - Mrs. Ruth Gaynelle Scott, 84, died on Tuesday, December 31 at the Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, January 2 at 11:00 a.m. at the Clarksburg Church of Christ with Bro. Billy Ringold officiating. Interment icon followed at Jamison cemetery.
Mrs. Scott was born on December 29, 1918 in Carroll County to the late Ben and Ida Holiday Cawthon. She was a retired employee of Publix Shirt and a member of the Clarksburg Church of Christ. Three brothers, Jake Cawthon, Alton Cawthon and Pete Cawthon and two sisters, Barbara White and Juanita Smith preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Lois Scott; one daughter, Ellen Anders of Lavergne; two sisters, Alma Joe Smith of Jackson and Edith Nolan of Bruceton and one grandson.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Bobby Tomlinson
1933-2003
HUNTINGDON - Mr. Bobby Tomlinson, 69, died on Saturday, January 4, at his home. Graveside funeral services were conducted on Monday, January 6 at 2:00 p.m. at the Carroll Memorial Gardens with Brother Jerry Borden officiating.
Mr. Tomlinson was born on January 22, 1933 in Lauderdale County to the late Reubin Wesley and Nona Peral Smith Tomlinson. He was a retired dental technician and a member of the McLemoresville Baptist Church. He was an army veteran. Two brothers, Russell Tomlinson and O'Neal Tomlinson and one sister, Josephine London preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Blackwell Crossno Tomlinson; one daughter, Karen Reynolds of Atwood; a son, Eric Tomlinson of Upland, California; one stepdaughter, Cindy Szalay and a stepson Steve Crossno, both of Huntingdon; two brothers, Larry Tomlinson of Upland, California and Jerry Tomlinson of Sikeston, Missouri; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mary S. Shook (Maxine Hopper McDaniel)
1933-2002
FLORENCE, ALABAMA: Mary S. Shook (Maxine Hopper McDaniel), 69, died on Saturday, December 7 at ECM Hospital after a sudden illness. She was a native of Henry County and had lived in Forence for the past 47 years.
She was a member of the Florence First Free Will Baptist Church.
The funeral services were on Tuesday, December 8 at 2:00 p.m. in the Greenview Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ralton McCarley officiating. Burial in the Greenview Memorial Park.
Her parents, James and Lula Mae Hollowell Hopper and one brother Charlie Hopper preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Wallace R. Shook, Sr.; daughters, Shirley Blevins and husband Floyd, Robbie Gipson and husband, Reggie, Debbie Gandy and husband Tim and Brenda Tidmore and husband Thomas; sons Wallace R. Shook, Jr. and wife Cathy and Mark Shook and wife, Traci, all of Florence; sisters, Ruby Lowe of McKenzie, Madelline Mitchell of Henry, Myrtle Gilmore of Woodburn, Kentucky and Mary Lou Seaton of McKenzie; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Greenview Funeral Home of Florence was in charge of the arrangements.

Eleanor Adkisson
1917-2002
TREZEVANT - Services for Eleanor Adkisson, 85, were at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 15 at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Trezevant. Burial was in the Mt. Ararat Church cemetery.
She died on Thursday, December 12 at Methodist Healthcare in McKenzie.
She was born August 25, 1917 to the late Andrew and Lilly Adkisson in Trezevant. She was a member of the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church.
Survivors include four children, Betty Lou Howard of Trezevant, Johnny Lee Adkisson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Bobby and Jerry Adkisson, both of Nashville; two sisters, Martha Taylor and Elizabeth Adkisson, both of Trezevant; two brothers, Bobby Joe Adkisson of McKenzie and Larry Joe Rutherford of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Lee Arnold
1926-2002
McKENZIE - Lee Arnold, 76, died on Monday, December 9 at his residence in McKenzie. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, December 12 at 2:00 p.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home. Burial was in the Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mr. Arnold, the son of the late Ora Lee Arnold and Lula Frances Hayes Arnold, was born July 31, 1926 in Henderson County. A grandson, Scotty Carter and a son-in-law Jerrell Dunning, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Verlene Scott Arnold, three daughters, Judy Dunning of McKenzie, Nancy (Terry) Sollis of Lexington and Peggy (Tim) Hart of Henry; two sons, Jimmy (Annette) Arnold of Routin and Billy Arnold of McKenzie; three sisters, Alta Scott and Zula (Royce) Reynolds of McKenzie and Ruth Saydak of Jackson; five grandchildren, Janet Scott, Brandy Carter, Kim Moody, Carolyn Cunningham and Peggy Joe Brown Zdeb; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

J.C. Fuller
1919-2002
HUNTINGDON - Mr. J.C. Fuller, 83, died on Wednesday, December 11 at his home. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, December 13 at 2:00 p.m. at the Liberty All Methodist Church with Bro. Joe Walker and Bro. Bob Lowrance officiating. Interment icon followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Fuller was born August 28, 1919 in Carroll County to the late John B. and Maggie Vinson Fuller. He was a member of the Liberty All Methodist Church, a World War II army veteran, and a retired carpenter with Barger Construction Company and farmed most of his life. His wife, Florence Beatrice Fuller; two brothers, Oveldon Fuller and Clyde McCormick and one sister, Mary Kate Crews, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Patty (Jerry) Nolen; one son, Jerry (Linda) Fuller; four grandchildren, Sherry Crossett, Stephanie Mathis, Christy Brandon, Steven Nolen, and seven great-grandchildren, LaTasha Crossett, Lauren Crossett, Cory Mathis, Chelsea Mathis, Kristen Brandon, Brittany Baker, and Rachel Brandon, with all residing in Huntingdon.
Pallbearers who served were Randy Crossett, Keith Mathis, Steven Nolen, Danny Brandon, Terry Ross, Rusy Ross, Marshall Newbill and Kenneth Oxford. Honorary pallbearers who served were Roy Fuller and Cory Mathis. Chase Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Richard Delmar Golden
1911-2002
McKENZIE - Services for Richard Delmar Golden, 91, were at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 14 at Brummitt Funeral Home with Bro. Keith Pence and Bro. Dennis Beal officiating. Burial was in the Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Golden, a retired carpenter and farmer, died Wednesday, December 11 at Methodist Hospital in McKenzie.
He was born January 17, 1911 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas to the late Betty Whitsett Golden and Charlie Golden. He was a member of the Community Grove Methodist Church in McKenzie.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Mildred Wheat of McKenzie; a brother, James D. Golden of Brentwood; a sister, Jane Golden Essary of Louisville, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Judy Tate of Berwyn, Illinois and Faye Stacknik of Dallas, Georgia; three great-grandchildren, Candy Saulsberry and Stacy Moran, both of Berwyn, Illinois and Jessica Stacknik of Dallas, Georgia; and two-great-great-grandchildren, Carson Moran and Alaina Saulsberry, both of Berwyn, Illinois.
His wife, Annie Mae Looney Golden, preceded him in death.

Dr. Addie Elizabeth Suggs Hilliard
1906-2002
HUNTINGDON - Dr. Addie Elizabeth Suggs Hilliard, 95, died on Friday, December 13. Born in Henderson on December 24, 1906 to Enoch Jordan and Sarah Elizabeth Hearn Suggs, she was the youngest of seven children. She held degrees from Freed-Hardeman College, Memphis State University, George Peabody College and University of Tennessee. During her 35-year teaching career she taught at Saltillo, Deanburg, Greenfield, Huntingdon and Western Kentucky University. A long-time member of the Huntingdon First Baptist Church, Dr. Hilliard started the church library and was a teacher of the Gleaners Sunday School class. She served as president of both the Women's Club and the Booklover's Club.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 16 in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel. Interment icon followed in Clark cemetery.
Dr. Hilliard is survived by three children, Nancy H. Fullerton of Nashville, Richard J. Hilliard of Miramar, Florida and Joe H. Hilliard of Oakville, Ontario, Canada; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was the widow of Joe H. Hilliard, Huntingdon seed merchant.

Ida Bell Hughes
1901-2003
McKENZIE - Funeral services for Ida Bell Hughes were at noon on Saturday, February 15 at the Johnson Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in McKenzie with the Rev. Henry Cunningham officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet cemetery in McKenzie.
Mrs. Hughes, 101, died on Tuesday, February 11 at Oak Manor Nursing Home in McKenzie.
She was born in McKenzie on June 25, 1901, to the late Carlos and Annie Jones Manley Bell. Her husband, Percy Hughes, and a daughter, Ida Mae Hughes also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Hughes was a member of the Johnson Chapel Church for more than 90 year. She was a member of the Webb School Alumni Association in McKenzie, member of the Stewardess Board, Missionary Society, Choir and Sunday School and had served as the first president of a senior citizens organization.
Survivors include several relatives, Earl Hughes of McKenzie, Callie Gates of Cleveland, Ohio, Janice Hughes Williams of Memphis, Virgie Hart of St. Louis, Missouri and Dock Hughes of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Trinity Funeral Home in Paris was in charge of the arrangements.

James Mabry Hames
1927-2003
TREZEVANT - Funeral services for James Mabry Hames, 76, were on Sunday, February 16 at 2:00 p.m. at McKenzie Baptist Church with Bro. Eugene Blankenship officiating. Burial was in Carroll Memorial Gardens. Mr. Hames, a retired Milan Arsenal employee, died Friday, February 14 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He was born on February 3, 1927 in Trezevant, the son of the late Charlie Hames and Nena Argo Hames.
Mr. Hames was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Patterson Hames; daughters Susan Newbill of Jackson, Shannon Triplett of Trezevant, Janie Lee Wood of Bogata, Texas; sisters, Jeffie Stafford of Trezevant, Cora Walker of Spring Creek and Esther Allen of Jackson; 13 grandchildren Cory Woods, Axel Woods, Tosha Stafford, Jonathan Triplett, Tammie McDonald, Tina Goff, Dustin Hames, Joey Hames, Jeannie Hames, Chad Hames, Heather Towery, Chad Woods and Courtney Woods; and four great-grandchildren, Corbin McDonald, Chase McDonald, Kara Goff, and Kiley Goff.
Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Donald "Jack" Max Lovell
1932-2003
McKENZIE - Services for Donald "Jack" Max Lovell, 70, were at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 18 at Brummitt Funeral Home with Rev. John Pugh and Brother Vance Rushing officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion cemetery in Medina. Mr. Lovell, First Mate on a tug boat, died Sunday, February 16 at McKenzie Regional Hospital in McKenzie.
He was born July 9, 1932 in Gibson, son of the late Emily Williams and Harley T. Lovell.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys V. Lovell, sons, James Lee Newland of Marietta, Georgia, Dennis Max Lovell of San Antonio, Texas and Terry Joe Lovell of McKenzie; daughter, Nancy Louise Crane of Paris; sisters, Sarah Graves of Medina and Betty Norman of Fernandina Beach, Florida, 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Jimmie May Campbell
1938-2003
FORREST CITY, ARKANSAS: Mrs. Jimmie May Campbell, 65, died Sunday, December 7 at her home. Mrs. Campbell was born April 3, 1938 in Wynne. She was the daughter of Harvey James Altman and Lillie May Buckhannan Altman, was a housewife and a member of the Tabernacle of Jesus Christ.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9 in the chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Harris Chapel cemetery.
In 1956, Mrs. Campbell married James Alfred Campbell, Sr., who survives.
Additional survivors include five daughters, Betty Beene of West Memphis, Vickie Thomas of Forrest City, Arkansas, Karen Thomas and Charlotte Campbell, both of Wynne, Arkansas and Amanda Heard of West Memphis; three sons, James Campbell, Jr. of Proctor, Arkansas, Bobby Campbell of Heber Springs, Arkansas and Carl Campbell of McKenzie; three brothers, J.W. Altman of Hughes, Arkansas, Carl 'Gene' Altman of Booneville, Mississippi and Bobby Altman of Polk, Florida; five sisters, Ruby Woods of Wynne, Arkansas, Jinnie V. Fisher of Burnsville, Mississippi, Marie Hobbs of Chicago, Illinois, Bessie Featherson of Iuka, Mississippi and Bonnie Parker of Helena, Arkansas; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
