Joshua Kyle Walker
1981-2006
TREZEVANT - Joshua "Josh" Kyle Walker, 24, died Friday, March 25, at his residence. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, March 28, at First Baptist Church in Trezevant. Interment icon followed in Trezevant cemetery. Rev. Malcolm Norton officiated the service. Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Walker was born September 17, 1981, in Huntingdon, to Dennis Walker and Sherrye Scott Walker, who survive. He was a 1999 graduate of West Carroll High School and member of First Baptist Church in Trezevant.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Warren Scott of Trezevant, and paternal grandparents, La Fon and Doris Walker.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandmother, Betty Jo Scott of Trezevant; one sister, Jaime Walker, and one niece, Macy Jo Walker, all of Trezevant.

James T. Beanie McDonald
1920-2006
McKENZIE - James T. Beanie McDonald, 85, died Thursday, March 23, at Tennessee State Veterans Hospital in Humboldt. Funeral services were conducted Monday, March 27, at Brummitt Funeral Home. Interment icon followed in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mr. McDonald, a retired lineman for Carroll County Electric Department, was born November 11, 1920, in McKenzie, to W.D. McDonald and Verdie Thorn McDonald, both deceased. He was a member of First Baptist Church in McKenzie.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Geneva Coleman McDonald.
Survivors include two sons, Tommy McDonald of Jackson and Stanley McDonald of Memphis; one daughter, Melissa Rosengren of Collierville; one brother, W.D. McDonald of Eustis, Florida; and six grandchildren.

Martha F. "Tinsy" Martin
1928-2006
McKENZIE - Martha F. "Tinsy" Martin, 78, died Tuesday, March 21, at Jackson-Madison County Regional Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Friday, March 24, in the Cedar Avenue Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home. Bro. Dennis Trull and Bro. Clayton Owen officiated. Interment icon followed in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mrs. Martin, a homemaker, was born February 21, 1928, in McLemoresville, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Prentice L. Fite. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a graduate of McLemoresville High School and attend Memphis State College and Bethel College.
She was preceded in death by a son, Phillip L. (P.L.) Martin.
Survivors include her husband, Ross Martin; one daughter, Carol Barker of McKenzie; one sister, Francis Pate; one brother, Charles "Chicken" Fite of Milan; three grandchildren: Greg (Amy) Barker, Leigh Ann (Julio) Mendoza, and Beth Martin; and five great-grandchildren, Ashley, Madison, and Holly Barker, and Austin and Kristian Mendoza.

Vernon B. Bynum
1907-2006
DRESDEN - Vernon B. Bynum, 99, died Tuesday, March 21, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, March 23, in the chapel of Gallimore Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Auvenshine officiating. Burial followed in Sandhill cemetery.
Mr. Bynum, a retired farmer, was born January 19, 1907, in Gleason, to the late J.W. and Ivie Bynum.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Golda B. Bynum; one brother, Woodrow Bynum; and one sister, Cecil McCord.
Survivors include one son, Bob Bynum of Dresden; four daughters, Pat Bynum of Dresden, Judy Cleek of Dresden, Shirley Byers of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and Vivian Spence of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Zelma Lee "Tina" Bailey
1938-2006
HUNTINGDON - Zelma Lee "Tina" Bailey, 67, died Monday, March 20, at her home.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, March 22, in the chapel of Dilday Funeral Home. Interment icon followed in the McAuley cemetery. Brother Lynn Stapleton officiated.
Mrs. Bailey was born November 26, 1938, in Camden. She was a retired owner of Bailey Electrical Services a member of Huntingdon Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Vernice Edward Norwood, a stepson, Tommy Blackwell, and a step-grandson.
She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Joe Bailey; a daughter, Debbie (James) Churchwell; and a son, Calvin Lynn Blackwell, all of Huntingdon; her mother, Willodean Norwood of Camden; four sisters: Mary Jo Hicks, Chestine (Walter) Brewer, and Wanda (Brent) Smith, all of Camden, and Rachel (Cecil) Demonbreun of Nashville; a brother, Keith (Belinda) Norwood of Camden; three stepsons, Mike (Donna) Bailey and Jeffrey (Deana) Bailey, all of Huntingdon, and Kenneth (Linda) Bailey of St. Charles, Missouri; two step-daughters, Pat (Glendon) Rich, and Nancy (Randy) Crider, all of Huntingdon; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and 11 step-grandchildren.

Hugh Shune Hamilton
1964-2006
McKENZIE - Hugh Shune Hamilton, 41 died Thursday, March 16, at McKenzie Regional Hospital, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral services were held Sunday, March 19, at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce, Mississippi. Bro. Tommy Thornhill officiated. Burial followed in Bruce cemetery.
Mr. Hamilton was born October 29, 1964, in Houston, Mississippi. He was a 1982 graduate of Bruce High School, an employee of Cutwright Woodshop, and a member of the Church of Christ in Bruce.
He is survived by his wife, Angela Brown Hamilton; a daughter, Shunna Hamilton; and two sons, Blake Syndor and Brody Hamilton, all of McKenzie; his mother, Judy Swanson Hamilton Criswell of Bruce, Mississippi; his father, Hugh Anderson Hamilton of Vardaman, Mississippi; three brothers: Bryan Hamilton of Bruce, Mississippi; Brett Hamilton of Pittsboro, Mississippi; and Pate Hamilton of Calhoun City, Mississippi; his grandmother, Wilma Swanson of Bruce, Mississippi; and his great-grandmother, Gladys Tutor of Bruce, Mississippi.

Etta Chapman Barfield Dyer
1921-2003
MIFFLIN: Services for Mrs. Etta Chapman Barfield Dyer, 82, were on Wednesday, September 3 in the chapel of the Leon Johnson Funeral Home with burial in the Mifflin cemetery.
Mrs. Dyer died on Monday, September 1 at the home of her daughter in Murfreesboro from complications from Alzheimer's disease.
She was a native of Carroll County and was a daughter of the late John D. and Mellie Harvey Chapman. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Samuel A. Barfield and her second husband, Claude Dyer, who died May 20, 2003. She was a member of the Mifflin Baptist Church and was a retired cafeteria manager from Tigrett Junior High School.
Survivors include two sons, Louis Barfield of Huntsville, Alabama and J.P. Barfield of Nashville; one daughter, Mrs. Linda Mandrell of Murfreesboro; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Brenda Kellow and Mrs. Lorna C. Howell, both of Lebanon and Mrs. Glenda Atkins of Jackson; one stepson, Mike Dyer of Jackson; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Bates of Russellville, Arkansas and Mrs. Marie Martin of Dallas; four grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Chapman and John D. Chapman, Jr.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Murfreesboro Alzheimer's Association or the Mifflin Baptist Church.

Roxie Lee Christian
1922-2003
HUNTINGDON - Mrs. Roxie Lee Christian, 81, died Saturday, September 6 at her home. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, September 7 at 3:00 p.m. at the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wayne Holmes officiating. Interment icon followed in the Humbles cemetery.
Mrs. Christian was born on May 25, 1922 in Henry County, to the late Heston and Nannie Lee Malone Hayes. She was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and a retired cook for the Carroll County Nursing Home. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Olive Nolen and one brother, Buster Hayes.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Rochester "Pee-Wee" Christian; two daughters, Glenda Mae Butler and Marsha Christian; one son, Billy Hayes Christian all of Huntingdon; one grandson and three great-grandchildren.

Celia Bessie Fry
1908-2003
CEDAR GROVE - Mrs. Celia Bessie Fry, 95, died on Friday, September 5 at the Life Care Center in Bruceton. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, September 7 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Brett Mebane and Bro. Robert Barger officiating. Interment icon followed in the Pleasant Hill cemetery in Cedar Grove.
Mrs. Fry was born on February 8, 1908 in Cedar Grove to the late Leone and Jayne Woodard Adams. She was a member of the Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church and a homemaker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Logan Fry, who died February 26, 1993 and one daughter, Patsy Ruth Fry Mebane, who died October 25, 1968.
Survivors include two granddaughters and two great-granddaughters.

Mary Ann Herron
HUNTINGDON - Mary Ann Herron died on Sunday, August 31 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Services were held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, September 2 at the Huntingdon Church of Christ with Ray Ivy, Buster Norden and Bill Goodpasture officiating. Burial followed in the Henderson City cemetery.
Mrs. Herron was the daughter of the late Judge and Mrs. Jere Galbraith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Herron, who passed away in 1979. She was a retired employee of 33 years with the Carroll County D.H.S. and was an active member of the Huntingdon Church of Christ.
Mrs. Herron also received the "Silver Medallion Award" for the most outstanding citizen of Carroll County in 1977.
She is survived by one daughter, Dr. Kitty Ben Mahoney of Nashville and two grandsons. Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Katherine Wray
1923-2003
GLEASON - Katherine Wray, 80, died on Saturday, September 6 at her home. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 9 at the First United Methodist Church in Gleason. Burial was in the Hopewell cemetery. Gallimore Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Brian Smith, Monte Bowers, Jay Oliver, Ryan Tucker, Evan Tucker, and Joshua Hollowell served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Wray was born on February 12, 1923 in Houston, Mississippi to Robert and Ruth Duke. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Gleason for 64 years. She and her husband Bob were beloved UMYF counselors for several years and influenced the lives of many young people in Gleason. Many friends and family members were the recipients of handcrafted Christmas egg ornaments as well as her all occasion gifts of coconut cakes and pies. An avid gardener, Miss Katherine would often say that she promised God she would "tend the roses if He would make them grow."
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Bob Steve Wray; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kitty and Johnny Oliver of Gleason, Leesa and Steve Tucker of Bolingbrook, Illinois and Jan and Mike Hollowell of Tullahoma; nine grandchildren, Shelly Bryan Bowers, Jay Oliver, Courtney Bryan Baker, Carrie Hollowell, Ryan Tucker, Joshua Hollowell, Evan Tucker, Leizha Hollowell and Katie Tucker and one great-grandchild, Seth Bowers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jo Nell Mattox and brother, Robert Harold Duke.
The family requests memorials be sent to Gleason First United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Chestine King
1916-2003
HUNTINGDON - Mrs. Chestine King, 86, formerly of Carroll County, died on Friday, August 29 at the Baptist Hospital in Nashville. Graveside funeral services were conducted on Sunday, August 31 at 1:00 p.m. at the Oak Grove cemetery with Reverend Robert Simmons officiating.
Mrs. King, the daughter of the late Orval and Ethel Norden Ashby, was born on September 5, 1916. She was a homemaker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Merle King, who died on February 15, 1983 and a son, Billy Wayne King, who died April 7, 2002.
Survivors include three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
