Maude Goodner

RINGGOLD -- Maude Stamey Goodner, 89, left this life Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008.

She was a resident of the North Georgia/Chattanooga area for most of her life and a member of New Liberty Baptist Church.

Maude was the oldest daughter of Elijah and Doshia Stamey. At an early age she began playing the piano and singing with her Papa at shape note singing schools. She loved gospel music and continued serving as a pianist for churches and groups for many years.

Maude was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Goodner; brothers. Horace and Reed Stamey; and nephew, Jack Stamey.

She is survived by two sisters, Bess Simpson and Della Benton.

Maude never had children of her own, but enjoyed her nieces, nephews and their spouses who loved and enjoyed their "fun aunt, " too. They are Archie Stamey, Blanche Davis, Jimmy Simpson, Sharon Branch, June Christian and two nieces who were her helpers for many years, Judy West and Carol Gravely.

The family would like to thank the people at Life Care of East Ridge and Trinity Hospice, and a special thanks to Mashelle, who became a good friend to Maude.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. C.L. Gravely and the Rev. Danny Henson officiating.

Interment will follow at Anderson cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Liberty Baptist Church, Ringgold.

Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home, Wallis-Stewart Chapel, Ringgold.

Jimmie Hall

FORT OGLETHORPE -- Jimmie Hall, 73, was escorted by God's angels into heaven for eternity, Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008.

She was a member of Westside Baptist Church and retired from TVA after 26 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Eunice Smith.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Thomas "Tom" Hall; her son, Marty (Kellie) Hall, of Ringgold, Ga.; daughter, Beth (Brian) Mares, of Ringgold; four granddaughters, Briana, Lindsay, Rebecca Mares and Falon Hall; sister, Barbara (Bruce) Wood, of Winter Springs, Fla.; and special sisters-in-law, Mary Porter, of Chattanooga, and Ailene Hall, of Valley Head, Ala.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the South Crest Chapel.

Malloy Hankins

TRION -- Malloy Hankins, 66, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., formerly of Trion, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, at his residence.

Funeral services at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel.

Interment in West Hill cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home.

Lois Hartbarger

SUMMERVILLE -- Lois Mason Hartbarger died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008.

Survivors, son, Valter (Zebbie) Hartbarger; daughter-in-law and son-in-law, Barbara and Rickey Edwards; brother, Alfred Rich; sisters, Helen Bean, Florence Thomas, Gertrude York, Melvina Cantrell, Allane Campbell; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Visitation 6 until 8 p.m. today.

DALTON -- Annie Grace Matthews, 80, died Thursday Jan. 17, 2008.

Services at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home.

Burial will be beside her husband at West Hill cemetery.

Jack Middleton

ROSSVILLE -- Jack A. Middleton, 80, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Bible Baptist Church in Rossville with the Rev. Ricky Gravley, the Rev. Jack Pendergrass and the Rev. Burman Cape officiating.

Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

Mr. Middleton will lie in state from noon until the funeral hour at the church.

Survivors include wife, Hazel Millican; daughter, Diane Woodall; brother, Marshall Millican; aunt, Christine Dersa; grandchildren, Jamye (Christy) Dawson, Jason (Shanna) Dawson, Josh (Candy) Dawson; seven great-grandchildren.

Eveline Swartz

LaFAYETTE -- Eveline Jarvis Swartz, 80, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008.

Survivors include dear friend, Frances Martins, LaFayette.

Funeral at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wallis Memorial Chapel with service conducted by the Rev. George Palmer.

Interment LaFayette cemetery.

Visitation after 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

Peggy Yankovich

FORT OGLETHORPE -- Peggy Joyce Foster Yankovich, 72, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, at her residence.

Mrs. Yankovich was a resident of the North Georgia area for the past 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grace and Ted Foster, of Sweetwater, Tenn.

Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Jack Yankovich; and sisters, Virginia Dawson, Erie, Tenn., Wanda (Harold) Wilson, Sweetwater, and Shirley (Ronnie) Rogers, Athens, Tenn.; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Sunday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. R.V. Wells and Chaplain Don Sapp officiating.

Interment will be in Sweetwater Valley Memorial Park in Sweetwater on Monday at 10 a.m.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Hospice, 7625 Hamilton Park Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
