Dr. Ted Hicks
Dr. Ted Hicks, 90, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2007.
He had lived in the California and Texas areas for most of his life and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Dr. Hicks spent more than 60 years ministering to various Baptist churches and was past president of the Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College and the Trinity Valley Baptist College.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Maude Hicks; wife, Sceleta Brown Hicks; and sister, Marie Hicks.
Survivors include three daughters, Teddy Price, of Clarksville, Texas, Sharon Burns, of Pensacola, Fla., and Rebekah (Phil) Cross, of Chattanooga; adopted son, Pastor Richard (Valerie) Beck, of Paducah, Ky.; brother, Doyle Hicks, of Waco, Texas; sisters, Geraldine Merritt, of Paris, Texas, and Ireline (Lester) Crutchfield, of Tigertown, Texas; sister-in-law, Nadyne and Cecil Vorden, of Madisonville, Texas; two grandchildren, William Burns and Timothy (Marie) Burns; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, in East Paris Baptist Church with Pastor Richard Beck officiating.
Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, in Pyles cemetery in Paris, Texas.
The family will be receiving friends today, Oct. 24, 2007, from 5 until 9 p.m. at the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel of Wilson Funeral Home.
The family will also receive friends from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, in the East Paris Baptist Church in Paris, Texas.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home (903) 784-6623 will be handling the arrangements in Paris, Texas.

Judy Hodnett
Judy Ann Hodnett passed Thursday, Oct.18, 2007, in Chattanooga.
Survivors include daughter, Assunta Williams; cousin, Ella Lay; and other relatives.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, at Highland cemetery.
There will be no visitation.

Martha James
Martha Sue James, 76, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at Erlanger.
A lifelong resident of Bakewell, she was a member of Midway Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by parents, John and Susie Burton ; two sisterssis - te siste rs, Geneva Dorn and Ruth Harris; three brothers, Addison Burton, Alvin Burton, John Burton Jr.; husband, Jesse James; and son, Eddie James.
Survivors: three daughters, Gail James, of Bakewell, Carrie James, of Harrison and Susie (Lebron) Parrott, of Spring City; one son, Robert (Donna) James, of Bakewell; two brothers, Claude Burton, of Dayton, Blake Burton, of Sale Creek; and one sister, Juanita Holloway, of Red Bank; two grandchildren, Jessica Woodal, of Dayton, Kayla James, of Bakewell; two great-grandchildren, great - grandchildren greatgrandchildren, Michael and Brian Woodal, of Dayton; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today, Oct. 24, in the chapel of Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Brown and the Rev. Don Richards officiating.
Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Lorraine Kimbrough
Lorraine Kimbrough, 91, passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, in Fresno, Calif.
A longtime resident of the Brainerd area, Mrs. Kimbrough was a member of Brainerd United Methodist Church and retired after 20 years of service with Hamilton National Bank and First Tennessee Bank.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Kimbrough.
Survivors include her daughter, Glenda Mabry, of Fresno, Calif.; two grandchildren, Lisa Tarbell, of Merced, Calif., and Paul Mabry, of Fresno; and four great-granddaughters, Faith and Caitlin Mabry, Fresno, and Abby and Ellie Tarbell, Merced.
The family will receive friends for visitation Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the East Chapel.
Interment will follow in Greenwood cemetery.

Betty Lewis
Betty Buchanan Lewis, 84, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007.
She was a resident of East Ridge Retirement Center.
She was the sister of Marie Stephenson and the mother of Lynn Lewis Robertson, Cindy Lewis (Jim) Morgan, and David (Debbie) Lewis. She loved her grandchildren, Heather, Adam, Kristin, Matthew, Shawn, Rachel and Sarah; and great-grandchildren, Shawna and Zoe.
She worked at Brock & Blevins and Hamilton County Juvenile Court, and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. She was an avid bridge player and loved the UT Lady Vols.
In lieu of visitation, a celebration of Betty’s life will be held today from 6 to 9 p.m. at East Ridge Convention Center, 1417 N. Mack Smith Road.
Donations in Betty’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Chad Love
Chad E. Love, 34, a gunnery sergeant for the U.S. Marine Corps, Combat Assault Battalion, 3d Marine Division and of Clarksville, Tenn., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007.
Gunnery Sgt. Love was born on Sept. 8, 1973, in Chattanooga.
He entered the Marine Corps on May 27, 1992. Upon graduation from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruiting Depot, Parris Island, S.C., he attended Marine combat training at Camp Lejeune, N.C. Upon completion of Marine combat training, Pfc. Love attended the Field Radio Operator Course in 29 Palms, Calif. He then was deployed to Korea. He served with distinction as the S-6 chief and played a vital role when he was deployed to Afghanistan as part of an embedded transition team. He received many awards through his career.
Survivors include his wife, Tara Love; children, Chad E. Love II, Deven J. Love, McKenzie L. Love, and Preston S. Love; parents, Charles “Eddie” and Tricia Young-Love ; brother, Glenn E. Love; and grandmother, Kathleen Young.
His grandfather, Lonnie Young, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. John Andrus officiating.
Burial will be in Chattanooga National cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Jessie Reynolds
Jessie Lee Reynolds, of Red Bank, passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at her residence.
A native of Oakdale, Tenn., she had lived in Red Bank since 1952. She was a member of Open Door Baptist Church. She had been employed by Crane Co., and Sears at Northgate Mall.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Elsie Melhorn Sr.; two brothers, Walter Melhorn Jr. and George Melhorn; and grandson, Chris Cline.
Survivors include her daughters, Sandy Cline, of Hixson and Sheri (Jeff) Leskosek, of Soddy-Daisy ; sisters, Betty Cloud and Brenda Melhorn; brothers, Henry and Ray Melhorn; one granddaughter, Kim Stroup; three grandsons, Jeff McFarland, Jeremy Cline and Brent Brady; three great-granddaughters, Ché, Stephanie and Haley; three great-grandsonsgreat - grandsons greatgrandsons, Jay, Alex and Greg; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. today at Lane Funeral Home, Coulter Chapel, with the Rev. Mark Tyson and Doug Cloud officiating.
Interment will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
