Frank William (Bill) Bell, 71, of Martin, died Sunday, March 23, 2008, at his home. Graveside services for Mr. Bell were held Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Collier's cemetery in Martin. Rev. Scott Chadwick officiated the services.
Mr. Bell was a retired electrician. He was born April 2, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Clarence Nelson and Mary Bell Nelson.

KayLynn Ranaie Taylor

KayLynn Ranaie Taylor, age 1, of Dresden, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at Decatur County General Hospital in Parsons. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 8, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Sunset cemetery in Dresden. Bro. Robert Johnson officiated the services.
She was born in Bend, Oregon to Jason and Hannah Dean Taylor of Decaturville. Other survivors include a brother, Bradon Taylor of Decaturville; a sister, Lana Taylor of Decaturville; grandmother, Brenda Fulcher of Decaturville; grandfather, Curtis D. Dean of Dresden; step-grandmother, Rhonda Dean of Dresden; grandmother, Lana Fry of Frederick, Oklahoma; grandfather, Larry Taylor of Lawton, Oklahoma; great-grandparents, Lloyd and Ina Dyer of Troy; great-grandmother, Maxine Dean of Dresden; and great-grandmother, Grace Hall of Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Kaylynn was preceded in death by her great-grandfather, Dewey Murel Hall; and great-grandfather, James Dean.

Louis W. Wright

Louis W. Wright, 72, of Winfield, Illinois, passed away at his home Thursday, March 13, 2008. He was the son of the late Lonea and Hallie Wright of Dresden.
He is survived by his wife, Eva; one son, Louis Jr. of Sycamore, Illinois; one daughter, Denise Lavelle of Aurora, Illinois; three grandchildren, Logan and Lucas Wright, and Kaylee Lovelle. He is also survived by two brothers, Mosel Wright and Roy Wright, both of Martin; three sisters, Louise Milton of Martin, Hilda Houston of Dresden, and Olene Robey of South Fulton; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Sunday afternoon from 2:00 until 7:00 at Williams, Kamp Funeral Home in Wheaton, Illinois. Burial is in Asumption cemetery.

Mary Katherine Crockett Griffin

Mary Katherine Crockett Griffin, 84, of Adolphus, Kentucky, died Monday, March 17, 2008, at Sumner Regional Hospital in Gallatin, Tennessee. Funeral services for Mrs. Griffin were held Saturday, March 22, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Murphy Funeral Home Chapel in Martin. Burial followed in New Hope Baptist Church cemetery in Latham. Rev. Robert Tuck officiated the services.
Mrs. Griffin was born June 6, 1923 in Nashville to the late Lincoln Crockett and Richie McGehee Crockett. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Griffin was also preceded in death by her husband, Waymon Griffin; a daughter, Linda Kay Darnell; and a sister, Louise Simmons.
Mrs. Griffin is survived by two sons, David Darnell of Adolphus, Kentucky, and Jerry Lynn Darnell of Carlinville, Illinois; two stepdaughters, Glenda Deason of Dresden, and Beverly Guidry of Gonzales, Louisiana; two sisters, Anna Martha Duffy of Memphis, and Dorothy Jean Faughn of Gilbertsville, Kentucky; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Michael "Mike" Scarbrough

Michael "Mike" Scarbrough, 45, of Nashville, died Friday, March 14, 2008. Funeral services for Mr. Scarbrough were held Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home in Nashville with Rev. Mark Caruth officiating. Burial was at Seminary Church cemetery, between McKenzie and Greenfield at 3:00 p.m.
Mr. Scarbrough was preceded in death by his mother, Patsy Webb Bryant.
Survivors include his father, Marshall (Margaret) Scarbrough; three sisters, Debi (Joe) Lowe, Lori (Chuck) Anderson, and Angela (Chris) Mikolon; and his stepfather, James "Sonny" Bryant.

Ralph Calvin Wilson

Ralph Calvin Wilson, 82, of Sharon, died Sunday, March 16, 2008, at Weakley County Nursing and Rehab Center in Dresden. Funeral services for Mr. Wilson were held Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel in Sharon. Rev. Wayne Holmes officiated the services.
Mr. Wilson was retired from Foamex in Milan. He was born May 27, 1925 in Gibson County.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Marilyn Wilson of Sharon; two sons, James (Debbie) Wilson of Bethlehem, Georgia, and Tommy (Tanya) Wilson of Mt. Juliet; two brothers, Bob (Joanne) Wilson of Atwood, and Gerald (Shirley) Wilson of Adamsville; and three grandchildren.

Raymond Edward Lamb

Raymond Edward Lamb, 95, of Martin, died Sunday, March 16, 2008, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services for Mr. Lamb were held Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at the First United Methodist Church. Burial followed in East Side cemetery in Martin. Rev. Bill Tate and Rev. Terry Griffin officiated the services.
Mr. Lamb owned and operated General Fire Service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a 50 + year member of the Martin Masonic Lodge #551, former member of the Martin Volunteer Fire Department and former member of the Weakley County Election Commission. He also, along with H.B. Smith, founded We Care Ministries of Martin. Mr. Lamb was born September 7, 1912 in Ralston to the late Elvis Sylvester Lamb and Lucinda Welch Lamb. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lamb was also preceded in death by his wife, Edna Davis Lamb; a brother, Roy Lamb; and a sister, Novella Lamb Wilson.
Mr. Lamb is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Helen Lamb (Paul) Jackson of Germantown; two grandchildren, Paul Douglas Jackson, Jr. (Janet) of LaGrange, and Mark Edward Jackson, Sr. of Germantown; and five great-grandchildren, Paul Douglas Jackson, III, Taylor Lamb Jackson, Mark Edward Jackson, Jr., Amanda Ruth Jackson, and John Vaden Jackson.
Memorials may be sent to Martin First United Methodist Church Building Fund, Bible Union cemetery Fund, or the Ralston cemetery Fund.

Virginia May Fowler

Virginia May Fowler, 74, of Dresden, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services for Ms. Fowler were held Friday, March 21, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel in Gleason. Burial followed in Sunset cemetery in Dresden. Carl Evans officiated the services.
Ms. Fowler was a retired from Stetson Boot Company. She was born August 11, 1933 in Gleason to the late Leonard Carrington and Janie Bates Carrington. In addition to her parents, Ms. Fowler was also preceded in death by a brother, Halford Carrington; and three sisters, Jean Petty, Paulette McAnally, and Bertha Carrington.
Ms. Fowler is survived by two daughters, Theresa Barner of Dresden, and Marlene O'Mara of Nashville; two brothers, Robbie Carrington of Gleason, and James Carrington of Clarksville; two sisters, June Evans of Dresden, and Shirley Garrett of Sharon; three grandchildren, Jamie Stogsdill of Kailua, Hawaii, Alicia Swatzell of Dresden, and Robin O'Mara of Nashville; and seven great-grandchildren, Bailey, J.T., Hunter, Hannah, Chloe, Matthew, and Emily.

Willie B. Price

Willie B. Price, 87, of Martin, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Price were held Sunday, March 23, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Greenfield. Burial followed in Cates cemetery in Martin. Frank Kellers officiated the services.
Mr. Price was a farmer and attended the United Church of God in Jackson. He was born January 28, 1921 in Mississippi to the late Willie Price and Lula Holden.
Mr. Price is survived by his wife, Helen Price of Martin; a son, Wayne Price of Martin; a daughter, Barbara (Price) Davis of Martin; two grandchildren, Jason Campbell and Tracy Shaw; and two great-grandchildren, Allie Shaw and Colton Shaw.

Dorothy Glynn Atkins Owen

Dorothy Glynn Atkins Owen, 76, of Dresden, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis. Celebration of life services for Ms. Owen were held Saturday, April 26, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Jolley Springs Baptist Church near Dresden. Burial followed in Butler cemetery near Gleason. Dr. Don McCulley, Tony Michael, Michael Simmons, and Jerry Wiggins officiated the services.
Ms. Owen was a former sewing machine operator for HIS. She was a member of Jolley Springs Baptist Church, where she was a WMU member and former director of the WMU. Ms. Owen was also a member of the Central FCE Club. She was a native of Henry County, born October 13, 1931 to the late Henry Clay and Annie Inez Atkins. In addition to her parents, Ms. Owen was also preceded in death by three sisters, Joy Vowell, Ruby Bell, and Ruth Kemp.
Ms. Owen is survived by five daughters, Linda (Mitchell) Evans of Cottage Grove, Patricia (J.C.) Lowry of Gleason, Pamela (Ronnie) Warman of McKenzie, Diana (Louis) Barker of Southhaven, Mississippi, and Cynthia (Steven) Seamans of Chandler, Arizona; three sons, Tony (Karen) Owen of Salisbury, North Carolina, Kenneth Owen of Gleason, and Bobby (Brenda) Owen of Fulton, Mississippi; two brothers, George Atkins of Paris, and Jerry (Rosie) Atkins of Jonesboro, Georgia; twenty grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.

George Herbert Shelton

George Herbert Shelton, 68, died Saturday, April 26, at Regional Hospital of Jackson. Funeral services were Monday, April 28, at 2:00 p.m. at McKenzie Funeral Home with Bro. Brett Mebane officiating. Burial with honors by the Weakley County Sheriff's Department followed at Carroll Memorial Gardens in McKenzie.
Mr. Shelton was born February 27, 1940 in Belleville, Illinois to the late George and Grace Daniels Shelton. He was a former police officer in Ridgely, a former Chief of Police in Tiptonville, and retired investigator for the Weakley County Sheriff's office with a total of 31 years of law enforcement, and attended Twin City Community Church in Hollow Rock. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Earl Robert Shelton.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Carroll Moore Shelton of Gleason; three daughters, Karen (George) Johnson of Dyersburg, Theresa (Ricky) Scott and Debbie Moore, both of McKenzie; five grandchildren, Leigh Ann Johnson and her fiance, Mark Dutton of Knoxville, Trae (Kayla) Johnson of Clarksville, Lauren Scott and Kaitlin Scott, both of McKenzie, and Mandi Johnson of Dyersburg; and one great-granddaughter, Addison Johnson of Clarksville.
Memorials may be made to the Twin City Community Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 175, Bruceton, TN 38317.

Gladys Atkinson Nethery King

Gladys Atkinson Nethery King, 96, of Martin, died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at VanAyer Manor Nursing Home in Martin. Funeral services for Mrs. King were held Sunday, April 27, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial followed in East Side cemetery in Martin. Rev. Houston Patrick officiated the services.
Mrs. King was a homemaker and a member of Old Salem Methodist Church. She was born October 21, 1911 in Weakley County to the late M.A. Atkinson and Della White Atkinson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. King was also preceded in death by two husbands, Marion A. Nethery and Max King; a brother, Doyle Atkinson; and a sister, Zelma Harris.
Mrs. King is survived by two sons, Bobbie (Nola Ann) Nethery of Martin, and Charles (Mary) Nethery of Martin; two grandchildren, Beth (Steve) Legens of Martin, and Brent (Linda) Nethery of Martin; and five great-grandchildren, Brady, Buddy, and Barkley Legens, and Cory and Marcy Nethery.

Herman Harrison, Jr.

Herman Harrison, Jr., 78, of Dresden, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Private memorial services for Mr. Harrison will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. at Gardner cemetery in Martin.
Mr. Harrison was a self-employed handyman. He was also a United States Army Veteran. He received the Korean Service Medal with 2 bronze campaign stars, Artillery, United National Service Medal, and Army Occupation Medal. Mr. Harrison was a Baptist by faith. He was born in Hickman County, Kentucky to the late Madie Cornwell Harrison and Herman Harrison, Sr.
Mr. Harrison is survived by two daughters, Debbie Morris of Union City, and Lorie Harrison of Dresden; two sisters, Pauline Harrison of Decatur, Illinois, and Lois Essary of Dresden; and a brother, Bill Harrison of Dresden.

Jerry Winston Harkins

Jerry Winston Harkins, 66, of the Ridge Trail Road in Kingston, died Saturday, April 26, 2008. Services were held Tuesday, at 8:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Evans Mortuary with Waylon Payne officiating. Interment icon will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Roane Memorial Gardens with full military honors by the Roane County Military Memorial Honor Guard.
His church family includes the Dyllis Baptist Church and Lee Village Baptist Church. He was a United States Navy Veteran, dedicated to the Jail Ministry, and formerly worked for the CIA.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Harkins of Kingston; two sons, Danny Harkins of Knoxville, and Mark Harkins; a daughter, Wanda Roberts of Dresden; two sisters, Penny Winery of Kansas City, Missouri, and Kathy Morin of Chattanooga; and seven grandchildren, Kristin Roberts, Jack Roberts and Katy Jo Roberts, all of Dresden, Danielle Harkins, Matthew Harkins, Karah Harkins, and Emily Harkins, all of Knoxville.
