Kenneth M. Jones

Kenneth M. Jones, 91, of Sedalia, Kentucky, died April 22, 2008 at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Jones were held Thursday, April 24, 2008, at 11:00 a.m.a t Murray Memorial Gardens Chapel with Rev. Eric Catron officiating. Burial followed in Murray Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Mr. Jones was born July 16, 1916 in Chokio, Minnesota to the late James W. and Lydia Spaulding Jones. He was a motel owner and manager as well as a WWII Naval Veteran serving in the American Theatre, Asiatic-Pacific, and the Philippine Liberation. He was a member of the local VFW and the American Legion. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was also preceded in death by a brother, James Jones; three sisters, Luella Kaye, Bertha Graham, and Stella Morley; and a granddaughter, Rebekah Catron.
Mr. Jones is survived by a daughter, Kay S. Catron of Sedalia, Kentucky; a brother, Lloyd Jones of Windom, Minnesota; a sister, Irene Ahistrom of Los Angeles, California; a granddaughter, Lori Crawford of Mayfield, Kentucky; and three grandsons, Bill Catron of Orlando, Florida, Eric Catron of Dresden, and Andrew Catron (Tammy) of Dresden; and three great-grandchildren.

Mary Margaret Williams

Mary Margaret Williams, 90, of Sharon, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at NHC Healthcare in Milan. Funeral services for Mrs. Williams were held Friday, April 25, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home in Sharon. Burial followed in Woodlawn cemetery. Dr. Jerry Summers, Rev. Paul Means, and Rev. David LeNeave officiated the services.
Mrs. Williams was a homemaker. She was born November 30, 1917 in Weakley County. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Carman Williams.
Mrs. Williams is survived by two daughters, Donna (John) Winstead of Martin, and May (Lewis) Yarbrough of Milan; a sister, Rachel Boaz of Hollow Rock; two granddaughters, Betsy (Brad) Biggs of Jackson, and Diana (David) Dewberry of Lavinia; and two grandsons, Brad (Catie) Winstead of Brentwood, and Tim (Cyndi) Yarbrough of Bradford.

Walter Brian "W.B." Brown

Walter Brian "W.B." Brown, 87, of Union City, died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Golden Living Center in Union City. Funeral services for Mr. Brown will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Jackson Funeral Home in Dukedom. Burial followed in Good Springs cemetery in Dukedom. Rev. Ron Cox officiated the services.
Mr. Brown was born July 24, 1920 in McConnell. He spent most of his childhood in the Dukedom area and was a 1938 graduate of Dresden High School. Drafted into the Army in World War II, he served in the 601st Graves Registration Company 1st Platoon, Quartermaster Corps, in the New Guinea and Luzon Campaigns as well as three small island operations. He earned a Bronze Star and was discharged in 1945 as a Staff Sergeant. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was active in the American Legion while living in Tullahoma, Tennessee.
From 1945 until 1966 he worked for Union Carbide in Paducah, Kentucky at the USAEC Gaseous Diffusion Plant. From 1966 until 1983 Mr. Brown was employed by Arnold Research Organization in Tullahoma. He retired in 1983 and moved to South Fulton. He resided at the Golden Living Center in Union City since March 2007.
He was actively engaged in the labor movement throughout his career holding several offices in the OCAW in Paducah and in the IUOE in Tullahoma. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fulton. Mr. Brown was born July 24, 1920 in Weakley County to the late Bill and Delcie (Clark) Brown. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brown was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Magdalene (McClain) Brown.
Survivors include two sons, Garry Brown of Albuquerque, New Mexico and David Brown of Littleton, Colorado; two daughters, Gae Rue Johnson of Flagstaff, Arizona and Ginny Lou Bowen of O'Fallon, Illinois; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

William R. Dicus

William R. Dicus, 79, of Sharon, died April 20, 2008, at Jackson Madison County Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Dicus were held April 23, at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield. Burial followed in Brock's cemetery in Greenfield. Bobby Peal officiated the services.
Mr. Dicus was a factory worker at Hubble Lighting for 20 years and retired on April 22, 2008. He was born February 1, 1929 in Greenfield to the late William Barney Dicus and Fannie Capps.
Mr. Dicus is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Gammons; three sons, Danny R. Dicus of Bradford, William Randall Dicus of Sharon, and Steven Dicus of Sharon; a daughter, Phyllis Dicus of Sharon; a brother, Bennie Dycus of Greenfield; and two grandchildren.

Charles Vernon (C.V.) Jones

Charles Vernon (C.V.) Jones, 78, of Martin, died Friday, September 12, 2008, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Jones were held Monday, September 15, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at New Home Baptist Church. Burial followed in Sunset cemetery in Dresden. Rev. Scott Chadwick officiated the services.
Mr. Jones was a machinist and a member of New Home Baptist Church. He was born June 2, 1930 in Augustus, Arkansas to the late Jesse Jones and Mary Clark Jones. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Jones; three brothers, Arthur Jones, Tommy Jones, and Joe Jones; two sisters, Mable Watson and Martha Cannon; and a half-sister, Artricia Campbell.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Mrs. Betty Reeves Jones of Martin; four sons, Jim (Mary) Judkins of Churchill, Tennessee, Ray (Cindy) Jones of Crosby, Minnesota, Kenny (Veronica) Turnbow of Martin, and Bobby Turnbow of Martin; two daughters, Susan Pollard of Martin, and Barbara (Chuck) Collier of Martin; two sisters, Mary (Bill) Barner of Sharon, and Viola (Jimmy) Sampson of Dresden; a half-brother, Carl Gallimore, Jr. of Dresden; twenty grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Delores Potts Gardiner

Delores Potts Gardiner, 85, of Dresden, died Friday, September 12, 2008, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris. Funeral services for Mrs. Gardiner were held Monday, September 15, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Martin Memorial Gardens. Danny Douglas officiated the services.
Mrs. Gardiner was a factory employee for Kellwood and a housewife. She was also a member of the Dresden Church of Christ. Mrs. Gardiner was born December 15, 1922 in Weakley County to the late Nolan and Maud Moody Potts. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gardiner was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Lottie Miller; her husband, Mr. L.C. Gardiner; a sister, Nadine Whitney; a brother, J.B. Potts; and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Gardiner is survived by three daughters, Carolyn (Barry) Burton of Paris, Barbara (Larry) Buckley of Greenfield, and Janie (Bobby) Cashion of Dresden; two sons, Eddie (Judy) Gardiner of Dresden, and Ronnie (Karen) Gardiner of Leesburg, Florida; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Donald R. Williams

Donald R. Williams, 69, of Greenfield, died Monday, September 8, 2008, at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Williams were held Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield. Burial followed in Hornbeak cemetery in Greenfield. Bro. David Worley and Bro. Wayne Perkins officiated the services.
Mr. Williams worked for the State of Tennessee Department of Transportation and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He was born December 10, 1938 in Greenfield to the late Arthur Williams and Mandy Evelyn Waldon. In addition to his parents, Mr. Williams was also preceded in death by a daughter, Vanessa Williams; and a son, Evan Williams.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Lynda Williams of Greenfield; a son, Adam Williams of Greenfield; two sisters, Evelyn Legens of Martin, and Louise Hornbeak of Greenfield; and three brothers, Jerry Williams of Union City, Joe Williams of Union City, and Bobby Williams of Naples, Florida.

Glyn Owensby

Glyn Owensby, 74, of the Ruthville Community, died Saturday, September 13, 2008, at Martin Healthcare Center. Funeral services for Mr. Owensby were held Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton, Kentucky. Burial followed in Obion Co. Memorial Gardens. Rev. Larry Reagan officiated the services.
Mr. Owensby was a dairy farmer and a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. He attended the New Hope Methodist Church. Mr. Owensby was born October 8, 1933 in Weakley County and had lived in this area all of his life. He was preceded in death by his father, Lavern Owensby.
Mr. Owensby is survived by his wife, whom he married March 16, 1956, Joan (McKinney) Owensby of the Ruthville Community; his mother, Odell (Simpson) Owensby of Martin; a son and daughter-in-law, Stacy and Tammy Owensby of the Ruthville Community; a sister, Shelby Webb of Martin; and three grandchildren, Matt, Amber, and Tanner Owensby, all of the Ruthville Community.

Harvel Gwinnon Berry

Harvel Gwinnon Berry, 77, of Greenfield, died Monday, September 8, 2008, at his home. Graveside services for Mr. Berry were held Thursday, September 11, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Hornbeak cemetery in Greenfield. Mark French and Eddie Hutchinson officiated the services.
Mr. Berry was a mechanic for Weakley County Motors and attended Bethel Church of Christ. He was born June 2, 1931 in Greenfield to the late Harvel Berry and Pauline Crocker.
Mr. Berry is survived by his wife, Rosa Berry of Greenfield; two daughters, Heather Davis of Greenfield, and Janice May of Florida; a sister, Katherine Powers of Greenfield; a brother, Robert Berry of California; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

John Aden Wimberley

John Aden Wimberley, 96, of Paris, died Monday, September 15, 2008, at Murray Calloway County Hospital in Murray, Kentucky. Funeral services for Mr. Wimberley will be held today, Wednesday, September 17, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Olive Branch cemetery in Cottage Grove. Bob Saywell and Mike Wimberley will officiate the services.
Mr. Wimberley formerly worked for the Soil Conservation Service and was honored as Conservationalist of the Year. He was also a life time farmer and dairy farmer. Mr. Wimberley was a member of Olive Branch Methodist Church, former member of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church, where he attended 93 years, had taught Sunday school and served as Sunday School Superintendent. He was born March 24, 1912 in Cottage Grove to the late Jake Wimberley and Lora Rawls Wimberley. Mr. Wimberley married Lillie Mae Jenkins Wimberley on December 25, 1933 and she preceded him in death on October 1, 1994. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Wimberley was also preceded in death by a sister, Evell Bell; and two brothers, Curtis and Harold Wimberley.
Mr. Wimberley is survived by a daughter, Sue (Jim) Hicks of Jackson; two sons, Billy D. (Peggy) Wimberley of Paris, and Gene (Carol) Wimberley of Murray, Kentucky; three sisters, Lorene Bridges of Paris, Virginia Cox Parker Bunton of Paris, and Eulalla (Everett) Wimberley of Paris; a brother, James Clovis (Brenda) Wimberley of Paris; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mary Nell Winfrey

Mary Nell Winfrey, 96, of Dresden, died Friday, September 12, 2008, at her home. Funeral services for Mrs. Winfrey were held Monday, September 15, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Dresden First United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Sunset cemetery in Dresden. Rev. Don Leslie and Rev. Jim Calhoun officiated the services.
Mrs. Winfrey was a retired secretary for Dresden High School and a member of the Dresden First United Methodist Church. She was born July 15, 1912 in Dresden to the late William Walter and Mary Frances (Elliott) House. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Winfrey was also preceded in death by her husband, William Albert "Bill" Winfrey.
Mrs. Winfrey is survived by a nephew, Dee (Karen) House of Gleason; and two nieces, Sally (Phil) Branon of McKenzie, and Anne (Wallace) Todd of McKenzie.

Tony R. Latham

Tony R. Latham, 55, of Martin, died Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City. Funeral services for Mr. Latham were held Saturday, September 13, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton. Burial followed in Greenlea cemetery.
Mr. Latham was the manager of the parts department at Alliance Application Equipment, LLC., in Union City. He was a member of the South Fulton Baptist Church. Mr. Latham was born January 19, 1953 in Fulton and lived in this community all of his life. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Latham; and a brother, Gary Latham.
Mr. Latham is survived by his wife, Bonnie Harrison Latham, to whom he married February 5, 1995; his mother, Clovis Hainline Latham of Fulton; two sons, Michael Mayo and Gary Latham, both of Martin; a daughter, Tracy Stewart of Martin; four grandchildren, and three sisters, Joyce Edmaiston of Fulton, June Dean of Fulton, and Janice Hill of Dresden.

Gracie L. Brasfield

Gracie L. Brasfield, 76, of Martin, died October 12, 2008, at Jackson Madison County Hospital. Funeral services for Mrs. Brasfield were held October 18, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Greenfield. Burial followed in Parham cemetery.
Mrs. Brasfield worked for Martin Box and attended Dresden Jehovah Witness located in Greenfield. She was born July 22, 1932 in Martin to the late Will Sowell and Lou Bell Wade. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brasfield was also preceded in death by her husband, Joner Brasfield.
Mrs. Brasfield is survived by three sons, Curry Brasfield of Martin, Freddie Brasfield of Martin, and Joe Brasfield of Martin; two daughters, Brenda (Brasfield) Gadlen of Martin, and Georgie (Brasfield) Bufkin of Martin; a sister, Ida Mae Mullins of St. Louis; and four grandchildren.

Kurt Eugene Hinrichs

Kurt Eugene Hinrichs, 49, of McKenzie, died October 20, 2008, at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Hinrichs will be held Friday, October 24, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet cemetery in McKenzie. Bro. Kenny Carr will officiate the services.

Mr. Hinrichs was a custodian at E.W. James & Sons Grocery. He was born August 31, 1959 in Sterling, Illinois. Mr. Hinrichs was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Roy Hinrichs.
Mr. Hinrichs is survived by his mother, Virginia H. Hinrichs of McKenzie; three brothers, Kevin (Connie) Hinrichs of High Rolls, New Mexico, Kent (Rachel) Hinrichs of Cloudcroft, New Mexico, and Kraig Hinrichs of McKenzie; a sister, Kay (Gary) Hankins of Verona, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.
