James H. Sallee
James H. Sallee, 81, of Martin, died Monday, July 30, 2007, at Madison County General Hospital in Jackson. Funeral services for Mr. Sallee were held Friday, August 3, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial followed in East Side cemetery in Martin. Rev. Andy Blackwell officiated the services.
Mr. Sallee was retired from the Tennessee National Guard and a veteran of the United States Army. He was born September 23, 1925 in Kingland, Arkansas to the late Russell Allen Sallee, Sr. and Anna Lee Johnson Sallee. In addition to his parents, Mr. Sallee was also preceded in death by three brothers, Russell A. Sallee, Jr., William L. (Bub) Sallee, and Charles A. (Jack) Sallee.
Mr. Sallee is survived by three sons, David Sallee of Martin, Tim Sallee of Covington, and Keith Sallee of Martin; a sister, Dean Hawks of Millington; six grandchildren, Kristopher Sallee, Mandy Hughey, Randi Carter, Matt Sallee, Brittney Sallee, and Kory Sallee; and two great-grandchildren.
Lexie D. Simmons
Lexie D. Simmons, 99, of Dresden, died Thursday, August 23, 2007, at Bastrop Nursing Center in Bastrop, Texas. Funeral services for Mrs. Simmons were held Saturday, August 4, 2007, at 4:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Olive Branch cemetery near Como. Bro. Michael Simmons officiated the services.
Mrs. Simmons was a business manager. She was a member of Woodcliff Baptist Church in Austin, Texas, and a former member of Jolley Springs Baptist Church. Mrs. Simmons was a native of Dresden and the daughter of the late Tom L. and Annie Raffety Highfill. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Simmons was also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Carlos H. 'Mutt' Simmons; a daughter, Mayanne Richardson; and a brother, Aaron Highfill.
Mrs. Simmons is survived by a son-in-law, Charles Richardson of Round Rock, Texas; three grandchildren, Julia Swope of Round Rock, Texas, Jane Carpenter of Leander, Texas, and Rich Richardson of Midland, Michigan; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
John Russell Walling
John Russell Walling, 84, of Union City, died Thursday, August 2, 2007, at Union City Manor Nursing and Rehab Center. Funeral services for Mr. Walling were held Monday, August 6, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at White-Ransom Funeral Home in Union City. Burial followed in East View cemetery. Rev. Jerry Leggett officiated the services.
Mr. Walling was a former pharmacist for Obion County General Hospital and a retired pharmaceutical salesman for Parke Davis & Co. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Hardee's Coffee Club. Mr. Walling had served with the United States Army Air Corp. He was born April 19, 1923 in Springfield, Tennessee to the late John A. Walling and Lela (Browning) Walling. In addition to his parents, Mr. Walling was also preceded in death by a brother, William R. Walling.
Mr. Walling is survived by his wife, Lattie Bellew Walling; two daughters, Donna (Gary) Fields of Dresden, and Vickie Walling of Alexandria, Virginia; a son, William R. 'Bill' Walling of Dallas, Texas; a sister, Shirley Browning of Clarksville; and one grandchild, Jarrod Williams of Memphis.
Margaret Sander
Margaret Sander, 92, of Martin, died Thursday, August 2, 2007, at VanAyer Manor Nursing Home in Martin. Funeral services for Miss Sander were held Saturday, August 4, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church. Burial followed in East Side cemetery in Martin. Rev. Bill Tate and Rev. David Russell officiated the services.
Miss Sander was retired from the transportation office at Milan Arsenal and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was born June 30, 1915 in Battle Creek, Michigan to the late Albert J. Sander and Jennie Foote Sander. In addition to her parents, Miss Sander was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Rehse.
Miss Sander is survived by her caregivers, Cathy Cate and Richard Shadden.
Mary Elizabeth Bradberry
Mary Elizabeth Bradberry, 93, of Dresden, died Saturday, August 4, 2007, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services for Mrs. Bradberry were held Monday, August 6, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Bradberry cemetery in Dresden. Bro. Nathan Horton officiated the services.
Mrs. Bradberry was a retired seamstress for Martin Manufacturing after 27 years of service. She had been a member of Siloam General Baptist Church near Dresden since 1926. Mrs. Bradberry was a native of Weakley County and the daughter of the late Clarence Edward and Lura May Scott Bradberry. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bradberry was also preceded in death by her husbands, Mr. Ellis Reed and Mr. Henry Lee Bradberry; three sisters, Odell Darnell, Olga Lee Radford, and Murline Thompson; and two brothers, Raymond Bradberry and Clarence Bradberry, Jr.
Mrs. Bradberry is survived by a son, Johnny Wayne Darnell of Springville, Tennessee; one grandchild, William Wesley (Sunshine) Darnell of Dresden; one great-grandchild, Dylan Kurt Darnell of Dresden; niece, Bonnie Ramos of Dresden; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Brylee Faith Drinkard
Brylee Faith Drinkard, infant, of Greenfield, died Monday, January 14, 2008. Graveside services were held Friday, January 18, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Pounds cemetery in Idlewild, Tennessee.
Survivors include her parents, John and Christy Drinkard; and twin sister, McKenzie.
Ethel Carline Hawks
Ethel Carline Hawks, 77, of Greenfield, died Sunday, January 20, 2008, at Jackson Madison County Hospital. Funeral services for Mrs. Hawks were held Wednesday, January 23, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Greenfield. Burial followed in Morris cemetery in Greenfield. Bruce McCartney officiated the services.
Mrs. Hawks was a former factory worker for Stetson Boots. She was born August 26, 1930 in Greenfield to the late Carl D. Childress and Ava Smith. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hawks was also preceded in death by two husbands, Damon Hollis and Johnnie Hawks; a daughter, Brenda Cupples; two brothers, James Roy and Thomas Childress; a sister, Pauline Franks; and one grandchild.
Mrs. Hawks is survived by five sons, Ronald (Judy) Hollis of Greenfield, Robert (Sharon) Hollis of Greenfield, Raymond (Anita) Hollis of Greenfield, Randall (Tomena) Hollis of McKenzie, and Jimmy (Shelia) Cupples of Fruitland, Tennessee; a daughter, Kay (Keith) Travis of Memphis; four sisters, Mary Sue Baxter of California, Sarah Mitchell of Michigan, Lillie Cantrell of Greenfield, and Joan Lassiter of Texas; and five brothers, Gilbert Childress of Milan, David Childress of Greenfield, Robert Childress of Greenfield, Danny Ray Childress of Florida, and Stanley Childress of Florida.
James M. Gearin
James M. Gearin, 84, of Union City, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City. Funeral services for Mr. Gearin were held Saturday, May 2, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Greenfield. Burial followed in Mount Hermon cemetery in Greenfield.
Mr. Gearin was an employee of the State of Tennessee working for the Highway Department. He was born July 11, 1924 in Greenfield to the late Fonnie Gearin and Roxie May.
Mr. Gearin is survived by his wife, Mildred (Curd) Gearin of Union City; and a sister, Geraldine Hawkins of Lakeland, Tennessee.
Jerry E. Scarborough
Jerry E. Scarborough, 80, of Greenfield, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at Jackson Madison County Hospital. Graveside services for Mr. Scarborough were held Friday, May 1, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at Highland cemetery in Greenfield. Brent Arnold officiated the services.
Mr. Scarborough worked for Owens Corning and was a member of the Church of Christ. He was born April 11, 1929 in Memphis to the late Thomas B. Scarborough and Althea Stephen.
Mr. Scarborough is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Scarborough of Greenfield; two sons, Steve (Hollye) Scarborough of Paragould, Arkansas, and Tommy Scarborough of Grapevine, Texas; a daughter, Stacy (David) Estes of Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
George E. Harrison

MARTIN, Tenn. - George Harrison, age 86, of Martin died at this home on May 1, 2009.
Graveside service are Sunday, May 3, 2009, at East Side cemetery; 2:00 p.m. Visitation is Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Murphy Funeral Home; 4:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M., or after 8:00 A.M. Sunday morning.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Jones Harrison of Martin; two sons, David Harrison and Tony Harrison both of Martin ; two grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.
Mr. Harrison was long-time owner of General Supply Company in Martin. He was U.S. Navy and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Martin. Mr. Harrison was a graduate of Martin High School.

GLEASON - Richard Paul Morgan, 42, died Tuesday, April 28, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services are Saturday, May 2, at 11 a.m. at Gallimore Funeral Home with burial in Hopewell cemetery.
Mr. Morgan was born December 4, 1966 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a tow boat captain. He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma (Davidson) Morgan.
Survivors include: one daughter, Victoria Morgan of Mayfield, Kentucky; and four brothers, Doug Morgan of Gleason, Johnnie Morgan of Springville, Kenneth Morgan of Paris, and Bill Morgan of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
FREDDIE NEAL HARELSON
1945-2009
MARTIN - Freddie Neal Harelson, 64, of Martin died Saturday, May 2 at his residence. Funeral services were held Monday, April 4 at Bowlin Funeral Home.
Mr. Morgan was born in Union City to the late Brownie and Daymon VanCleave Harelson. He was a truck driver, a disabled veteran and a member of Gardner Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Nooner Harelson of Martin; one daughter, Michelle Moore of Dresden; a son, Wayne Harelson of Crossville, Tennessee; four step-sons: David Winston and Steven Winston, both of Martin, Kenneth Winston of Dresden, and Greg Winston of Sharon; one sister, Martha Crawford of Martin; two brothers, Tommy Harelson of Elizabethtown, Kentucky and James Harelson of Martin; eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
RUBY LEE WEBB
1927-2009
SHARON - Ruby Lee Webb, 82, of Schertz, Texas, formerly of Sharon, died April 26 at the Silver Tree Nursing Home in Schertz, Texas. Funeral services were held Friday, May 1 at Bowlin Funeral Home.
Mrs. Webb was born in Greenfield to the late Robert and Goldie Bolton Johnson. She was a retired supervisor for Bankers Life and Casualty Insurance Company and a member of the Protestant faith. She was preceded in death by one sister, Lorelle Pierce, and two brothers, J.L. Johnson and Bob Johnson.
She is survived by two sons, Charles (Barbara) Webb of Waupaca, Wisconsin and James (Maureen) Webb of Schertz, Texas; two sisters, Estelle (J.W.) Dotson of Greenville, Mississippi and Montez (Harold) Graves of Lexington; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army.
JOSEPH E. (JOE) MOORE
1923-2009
DUKEDOM: Joseph E. (Joe) Moore, 86, of Dukedom died Thursday, April 30 at Jackson Purchase Medical Center. Funeral services were held on Monday, May 4 at Jackson Funeral home in Dukedom. Burial was in the Good Springs cemetery.
Mr. Moore was born March 2, 1923 in Murray, Kentucky to the late Charles Porter Moore and Maude S. Jeffress. He was a member of the Good Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Dukedom. He had worked for Sears as the manager of the catalog department. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in WWII, was a member of the Gideons International and The American Legion in Fulton, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leslie Jean Mitchell Moore, and a great-grandchild, Tara Cerbantas Smith.
His survived by a daughter, Kathleen Boyd of Macomb Township, Michigan; two sons, John C. Moore of Mayfield, Kentucky and Michael Moore of Tequesta, Florida; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
