John Proctor
1947-2005
NASHVILLE - John Proctor, 58, died Wednesday, December 14. Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 7, at 11:30 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of Resurrection in Franklin.
Mr. Proctor was born April 16, 1947, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Paul and Juanita Ellsworth Proctor, both deceased. He graduated from the University of Memphis where he was president of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He was an Eagle Scout and served in the United States Navy. He was a mentor to many youth ice hockey players in the Nashville area.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Younggren.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Atkins Proctor, one son, John Ryan Proctor of Nashville; one niece; and one nephew.
Contributions may be made in John's name to the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, Gifts Processing, VU Sta. B#357727, Nashville, 37235-7727 or to the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection Memorial Fund, 1216 Sneed Rd, Franklin, TN 37069.

Dr. Woodrow "Woody" Jones, Jr.
1947-2005
ALBUQUERQUE: Dr. Woodrow "Woody" Jones Jr., 58, died Tuesday, November 22. Services were conducted Tuesday, November 29, in Sunrise Funeral Option Chapel in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with Rev. N.D. Smith of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church officiating.
Mr. Jones was born February 28, 1947, in McKenzie, to Woodrow and Florence Jones of Los Lunas, New Mexico, who survive. He was formerly a political science professor in San Diego, California and the first black dean at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.
He was preceded in death one brother, Ernest Warren Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Wolf Jones; two daughters, Kamilah (Torrence) Brown of Chicago, Illinois and Halimah Jones of College Station, Texas; two brothers, Prentis L. (Mary) Jones of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and David Alonzo Jones of Oakland, California; and one grandson.

Mary Frances Bell
HOLLOW ROCK - Services for Mary Frances Bell, 75, were at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 17 at Bruceton Funeral Home with the Rev. Joey Simmons officiating. Burial was in Robertson cemetery in Tennessee City.
Mrs. Bell, a retired cook for Krystals in Nashville, died Saturday, December 15 at her residence.
She was born June 24, 1926 in Hickman County to the late Charles Oscar Phillips and Florence May Roberson Phillips. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include six daughters, Joyce Romero of Paramount, California, Janice Reynolds, Peggy Taylor and Diane Forrest, all of Hollow Rock; Patricia Agy of Bruceton and Denice Doss of Waverly; four sons, Earl Bell and Douglas Bell, both of Hollow Rock, Wayne Potter of Afton, Paul Bell of Dickson; twenty-four grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Henry Bell, Jr., preceded her in death.

Louise Woodard Rich
1921-2005
HUNTINGDON - Services for Mary Louise Woodard Rich, 83, were held Friday, May 27, at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Huntingdon with Bro. Bryan Oaks, Bro. Phillip Halter and Bro. Wendell Boyd officiating. Interment icon followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Rich died on Wednesday, May 25, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.
She was born June 30, 1921, in McKenzie, to the late Elzie Carton Woodard and Mattie Hall Woodard. She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Eula Lee Woodard, and infant brother; a son, William Wesley Rich; infant twins, Pamela Ann Rich and Carlton Dan Rich; and a son-in-law, Sammie Eubank.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, William Coy Rich; children Marilyn (Buddy) Vinson, Patricia Eubank, and Amy (Jeff) Carter of Huntingdon; Joe (Jan) Rich and Emily (Bobby) Young of McKenzie; Phyllis (Tom) VanOlst and Lisa (Bobby) Moseley of Hendersonville; one sister, Corene Woodard Bennett of McKenzie; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Rich was a lifelong homemaker, dedicated to her family and to Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member and pianist for over 60 years. Memorial donations may be made to the Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation, 2410 Patterson Street, Suite 110, Nashville, Tennessee 37203.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

L.W. 'Bill' Stanfill
1939-2005
DECATURVILLE: Services for L.W. 'Bill' Stanfill, 66, were held Friday, May 27, with Father Edward Fisher conducting the funeral mass. Interment, including firefighter honors, followed at Pleasant Hill cemetery.
Mr. Stanfill died Wednesday, May 25, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. He was the Decatur County court administrator and was a retired division chief with the Memphis Fire Department. He served with the United States Navy during the Vietnam conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca J. Stanfill; one daughter, Stacy Harris of Memphis; one stepdaughter, Terri Anglin of Linden; one stepson, Cliff Anglin of Scotts Hill; one sister, Juanita Purifoy of New Blaine, Arkansas; one brother, Grady Stanfill of McKenzie; and two grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society.
Reed's Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

Montie Roy Gammill
1931-2005
MIXIE: Services for Montie Roy Gammill, 73, were conducted Friday, May 27, at 7:00 p.m. at the McKenzie Church of God. Interment icon followed Saturday, May 28, at 10:00 a.m. at Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Gammill died Monday, May 23, in Holly Springs, Mississippi, from injuries received in an automobile accident.
He was born October 13, 1931, in Jackson, to the late Haven McKinley and Mary Kyle Gammill. He was an iron worker and member of the McKenzie Church of God. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Erastus Gammill, Eugene Gammill, and Fondie Gammill, and three sisters, Martha Alice Minyard, Mary Jane Gammill and Sarah Price.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Wilma Jane Gammill; two sons, Ralph Hughes of Fairfield, Texas, and Robert Gammill of Hollow Rock; one daughter, Tina Johnson of McKenzie; one brother, James Gammill of Greenwood, Mississippi; three sisters, Frances Tate of Tampa, Florida, Annette of Houston, Texas, and Jeanette Elliott of Atlanta, Georgia; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Sue Corlew Horton
CLARKSDALE, MISSISSIPPI: Services for Sue Corlew Horton were conducted at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 23, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Newton officiating. Interment icon took place at Prospect cemetery in Bruceton.
Mrs. Corlew, formerly of Bruceton, died Wednesday, May 18, at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband, O.C. Horton, Jr.
She was a member of the Eastern Star, Clarksdale Garden Club, and St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Robert L. Horton of Germantown and Jon C. Horton of Madison, Mississippi; one sister, Jean Johnston of Pampas, Texas; and four grandchildren.

Louis F. Grissom
1920-2005
TRIMBLE: Services for Louis F. Grissom, 84, were conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 29, at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Judith Wolfgang officiating. Interment icon followed in the Zion cemetery in Elbridge.
Mr. Grissom, a retired employee of Doug Rice and Sons Mechanical Contractors, retired farmer and plumber and pipe fitter, died Thursday, May 26, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
He was born on July 16, 1920, in Columbia, to the late William Herman Grissom and Jewell Singleton Grissom. He was a veteran of the United States Army and the Trimble First United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma P. Grissom, and two brothers, Bill Grissom and Everett Grissom.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Hood of Millington, Bonnie Whitson of Trimble, and Martha Jewell Whitworth of Gleason; two sons, Roger Dale Grissom of Buchanan and William H. Grissom of Newbern; one sister, Anna Bell Hendricks of Easley, South Carolina; one brother, James Grissom of Bessimer, Alabama; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Bettye Faye Sparks
1940-2005
McKENZIE - Services for Betty Faye Sparks, 64, were conducted Saturday, May 28, at 2:00 p.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie with Brother Jim McGuire officiating. Interment icon followed at Shiloh cemetery in McKenzie.
Ms. Sparks, a cook at Oak Manor Health Care in McKenzie, died Thursday, May 26, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
She was born June 3, 1940, in McKenzie, to the late Mildred Bouldin Sparks and W. Norrel Sparks.
There were no immediate survivors other than special friend, Jeff Brawner.

Larry D. Lewis
WILDERSVILLE - Funeral services for Larry D. Lewis, 57, were held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 12 at the Reed's Chapel in Lexington. Burial was in Marlin cemetery in Wildersville.
Mr. Lewis, a preacher and school bus driver, died Tuesday, December 11 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Ann Lewis; one son, Terry L. Lewis of Fairview; one sister, Brenda Kay Stanford of Troy; one brother, James Ralph Lewis of Westport and one granddaughter.

Freddie Gene Edwards, Sr.
WILDERSVILLE - Services for Freddie Gene Edwards, Sr., 55, were at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 18 at Timberlake Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Lexington. Bural was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Edwards, who was disabled, died Friday, December 14 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Elnora Edwards; his father, Eddie Edwards of Lexington; three daughters, Genise Edwards and Anglus Edwards, both of Wildersville and Jennifer Delk of Jackson; two sons, Freddie Edwards, Jr. and Dennis Edwards, both of Wildersville; two sisters, Maecuple Peason of Champaign, Illinois and Joyce Hall of Cedar Grove; and two brothers, Claudell Edwards and James Edwards, both of Des Moines, Iowa.
Bledsoe Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.

Billy G. Dunlap
FORDYCE, ARKANSAS: Billie G. Dunlap, 61, died Thursday, December 13 in his home. He was born May 13, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois. He was worked in Fordyce as a supervisor for Phelps Dodge and also as a supervisor for Millcreek of Arkansas.
He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Fordyce; a 35-year member of the Fordyce Fire Department; a member of the E.M. Lodge in Fordyce; a 32nd Degree Mason; a member of the Arkansas Archaeology Society and a life member of the NRA.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Dunlap; two sons and daughters-in-law, Billie Gene and Gwynne Dunlap of Fort Worth, Texas and Eddie and Brenda Dunlap of New Edinburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Dena and Stacy Trammell of Fordyce; his mother, Annie Dunlap of McKenzie; one sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Billy Chandler of McKenzie; and nine grandchildren, Jeanna, Dylan, Clint, Kristen, Morgan, Megan, Cara, Zachary and Casey.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 15 at Benton Funeral Home Chapel in Fordyce. Burial was in Smith-Morgan cemetery.
