FREDDIE EUGENE DEATON
1937-2008
DYERSBURG: Freddie Eugene Deaton, 70, died Thursday, May 8, at his home. Graveside services were Saturday, May 10, at 1 p.m. at Everett's Chapel cemetery with Bro. Don Bowlin officiating.
Mr. Deaton was born October 25, 1937 in Gleason to the late Bryant and Agnes Ellis Deaton. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Greenfield. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Tina Deaton; and one brother, David Deaton.
Survivors include: two sons, Donald Deaton of Greenfield and Michael Deaton of McKenzie; one daughter, Shelia Deaton of Greenfield; six sisters, Ailene Vickers and Patsy Lovell, both of Gleason, Brooksie Owens of Henry, Dorothy Burlison of New Johnsonville, Joy Lewis of Greenfield, and Reba Gallimore of McKenzie; and six grandchildren.
Gallimore Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

ALMA WIMMERT HOLLAND
1910-2007
McKENZIE - Alma Wimmert Holland, 97, died Tuesday, December 25, at Jackson Regional Hospital. Funeral services are Saturday, December 29, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, McKenzie. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet cemetery, in McKenzie.
Mrs. Holland was born January 9, 1910 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Adolph and Emma Spengler Wimmert. She was co-owner of Holland Farms Ice Cream Company and West Tennessee Dairy in McKenzie. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in McKenzie for 70 years, and she currently was the oldest member of the church. During her years at church she was active in the Imogene Sub-Group, she was also a charter member of the BPW, and a past president of the PTA. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paul G. Holland; one sister and three brothers
Survivors include: two daughters, Marilynn (Bob) Putman of McKenzie and Anne (Jerry) Gilchrist of Nashville; one son, Paul W. (Linda) Holland of Nashville; seven grandchildren, Carol (Victor) Parkins, Paul (Traci) Putman, Celia (Erik) Prentice, Heather Jane Holland, Kathryn Elizabeth Holland, Thomas Joseph Holland Gilchrist, and Harrison Collier Gilchrist; and four great-grandchildren, Holland Elizabeth Parkins, Jordan Parkins, John Tyler Putman and Blair LeAnn Putman; one sister-in-law, Louise Holland Johnson of Chattanooga; and one brother-in-law, Kermit (Nancy) Holland of McKenzie.
Memorials can be made to Paul G. and Alma W. Holland Scholarship Fund at Bethel College or the First United Methodist Church, McKenzie.
Brummitt Funeral Home, McKenzie was in charge of arrangements.

Roy L. Auvenshine
1944-2007
DRESDEN - Roy L. Auvenshine, 63, died Thursday, December 27, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services were Saturday, December 29, at 2:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Bro. Wayne Perkins and Bro. Bob Copeland officiating. Burial followed in Sand Hill cemetery.
Bro. Auvenshine was the preacher for Bethlehem Baptist Church for over 30 years. He was born, July 4, 1944 in Dresden. He was preceded in death by his father, C.D. Auvenshine; and a brother, Dennis Auvenshine.
Survivors include: his wife, Linda (Stewart) Auvenshine of Dresden; one son, Tracy Auvenshine of Dresden; one daughter, Donna Auvenshine of Dresden; his mother, Elaine (Underwood) Auvenshine; three brothers, Debro Auvenshine of Akin, South Carolina, Johnny Auvenshine of Eaton Rapids, Michigan, and Donald Auvenshine of Lansing, Michigan; and one granddaughter.

A.J. TAYLOR
1922-2007
HUNTINGDON - A.J. Taylor, 85, died Thursday, December 27, at Huntingdon Health and Rehab. Funeral services were Saturday, December 29, at 2 p.m. at Dilday Funeral Home with Bro. Ken Bradford officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill cemetery.
Mr. Taylor was born January 24, 1922 in Henderson County to the late Clyde Thomas and Mary Clyde (Lassater) Taylor. He was the retired Chief of Police for the town of Huntingdon where he was employed for 19 years. He had also been employed as a dispatcher for Carroll County Electric Department, served as a Carroll County Judicial Commissioner, was a member of the American Legion, Fraternal Order of Police, Tennessee Police Chiefs Association and served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of the Church of Christ. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Nell (Gibson) Taylor; two sons Lynn S. Taylor and Kim R. Taylor; and one sister, Bevie Reeves.
Survivors include: one daughter, Sandra Brown of Huntingdon; one son, Glen L. (Wanda) Taylor of Huntingdon; one sister, Lavern Hatch of Huntingdon; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

MAURINE WADKINS FINK
1916-2007
McKENZIE - Maurine Wadkins Fink, 91, died Sunday, December 23, at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Funeral services were Thursday, December 27, 4 p.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home, McKenzie, with Bro. Kenny Carr officiating. Burial was in Acacia Park cemetery in Mayfield Heights, Ohio.
Mrs. Fink was born November 6, 1916 in Trezevant to the late John Wadkins and Ruth (Kemp) Wadkins. She was a member of Long Heights Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest H. Fink.
Survivors include: two sons, Richard Fink of Knoxville and Paul Fink of Mendham, New Jersey; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

L.J. GRIFFIN
1935-2007
McKENZIE - L. J. Griffin, 72, of McKenzie died December 21 at McKenzie Regional Hospital. A memorial service was held Sunday, December 23 in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield.
Mr. Griffin was born January 13, 1935 to the late O.B. Griffin and Lena Bynum. He was self-employed as a dozer operator.
He is survived by his wife, Mable (Covington) Griffin of McKenzie; three daughters: Ange Woods of Memphis, Beth Collins of Dresden, and Karen Mitchell of Gleason; two sons: Terry Griffin of Olive Branch, Mississippi and Michael Griffin of Gleason; and four grandchildren.

WILLARD WENDELL WHITNEY
1933-2007
McKENZIE - Mr. Willard Wendell Whitney, 74, died Wednesday, December 26 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. There will be no local services in McKenzie.
Mr. Whitney was born in Beech Creek, Kentucky on May 4, 1933 to the late W. Whitney and Irene Baugh Whitney. He was a janitor for All Steel in Aurora, Illinois. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Hill Whitney of McKenzie; two sons, Richard Whitney of Aurora and David Whitney of McKenzie; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
McKenzie Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.

JANE ESSARY
LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY: Jane (Golden) Essary, 70, formerly of McKenzie, died Monday, March 26, at Jewish Hospital. Funeral services were Friday, March 30, at 2 p.m. at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven in Louisville with private entombment in Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Mrs. Essary was a member of Summit Heights Methodist Church where she had taught with the parents out program for 18 years.
Survivors include: her husband of 51 years, Earnest Essary; one daughter, Karen (Ed) Eastridge; one brother, Jim (Carolyn) Golden; and several nieces and nephews.

JOSEPH KEE PRITCHARD
1931-2007
CLARKSBURG - Joseph Kee Pritchard, 75, died Wednesday, March 28, at Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were Friday, March 30, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Ringold officiating. Burial followed in Blair cemetery.
Mr. Pritchard was born April 25, 1931 in Carroll County to the late Guy and Allie (Kee) Pritchard. He was a retired barber, a Korean Navy Veteran, a member of the Carroll County Democratic Party, supporting local and state levels, a member of the Huntingdon Elks, and a member of Clarksburg Church of Christ.
He is survived by several cousins and friends.

NICHOLAS SCOTT JOHNSON
INFANT
HUNTINGDON - Nicholas Scott Johnson, infant, died Tuesday, March 27, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris. Graveside services were Friday, March 30, at 10:00 a.m. in New Reedy Creek cemetery with Bro. Kenneth Hillsman officiating.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Peggy Busstle and Benjamin Busstle.
Survivors include: his father and mother, Geoffray Scott Johnson and Deborah Jane (Busstle) Johnson of Huntingdon; two sisters, Shea Jane Johnson and Jean Anne Johnson, both of Huntingdon; and paternal grandparents, Annie Vieregg Mehring of Grand Island, Nebraska and Lonnie Johnson of Alda, Nebraska.
Chase Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

LULA N. SCOTT
1921-2007
CLARKSBURG - Lula N. Scott, 85, died Thursday, March 29 at Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were Saturday, March 31, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Martin Klamm and Bro. Billy Ringold officiating. Burial followed in Seller Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Scott was born August 28, 1921 in Carroll County to the late Robert Daniel Mitchell and Sarah Ema (Whitehorn) Mitchell. She was a homemaker and a member of the Clarksburg Church of Christ. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Buford Scott.
Survivors include: one daughter, Diane Cannon of Clarksburg; one son, Robert (Dorothy) Scott of Clarksburg; two sisters, Dorothy (Billy) Carnell and Barbara (Leonard) Ellis, both of Huntingdon; two brothers, Robert (Marie) Mitchell of Jackson and Denver Mitchell of Illinois; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

CAROLINE MAY BROWN
1917-2007
BRUCETON - Caroline May Brown, 89, died Friday, March 30, at Baptist Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were Monday, April 2, 4 p.m. at Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Steve Whitworth officiating. Cremation followed.
Mrs. Brown was born November 7, 1917 in Mineral Ridge, Ohio to the late Leophold and May Bowen Nass. She was an instrument technician at Phoenix, Arizona Baptist Hospital and a member of Mineral Ridge, Ohio Presbyterian Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Eugene Sypherd, Sr.
Survivors include: one daughter, Ann Copenhaver Kirk of Camden; three sons, Douglas Sypherd and George Sypherd, both of Phoenix, Arizona, and Kenneth E. Sypherd, Jr. of Taveras, Florida; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

LARRY JOE COOK
1939-2007
HOLLOW ROCK - Larry Joe Cook, 67, died Friday, March 30, at Baptist Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were Sunday, April 1, 2:30 p.m. at Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lloyd Rich and Rev. Sammy Douglas officiating. Burial followed with military honors at Shiloh cemetery near Milan.
Mr. Cook was born June 17, 1939 near Roellen to the late James Meredith Cook and Frances Josephine Allen Cook. He was a truck driver for MAPP, a Navy veteran and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Jo Anna Lee Miller Cook of Hollow Rock; one daughter, Francis "Cis" Cason of Martin; two step-daughters, Mary Pearl Divine of Jackson and Marsha Vermillion of McKenzie; two step-sons, Ralph Holley, Jr. of Bolivar and David Holley of McKenzie; three grandchildren, 16 step-grandchildren, and nine step-great-grandchildren.
