Tennessee, U.S., Delayed Birth Records, 1869-1909
Thomas Bryan Miller, Sr.
BRUCETON - Services for Thomas Bryan Miller, Sr., 82, were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 7 at Bruceton Funeral Home with the Revs. James Daniel and Bob Elliot officiating. Burial was in Prospect cemetery in Hollow Rock.
Mr. Miller, a retired owner/manager of Miller Insurance Agency, died Friday, August 3 at Baptist Hospital in Huntingdon of pneumonia.
He was born December 22, 1918 in Paducah, Kentucky to the late Thomas M. Miller, Jr. and Lela Howle Miller.
He was a member of Bruceton First Baptist Church and a member of Bruceton Masonic Lodge #731. He was also a Memphis Scottish Rite at Chymia Shrine and served ten years as alderman for the Town of Bruceton. Mr. Miller served 30 plus years on the Board of Directors for West Tennessee Public Utilities, was a member of Bruceton Lions Club and served in the marines in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Miller; one son, Thomas Bryan Miller, Jr. of Shrewsbury, Maine; one sister, Katherine Hidgon of Federal Way, Washington; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Cora F. Hedgecock
McKENZIE - Services for Cora F. Hedgecock, 76, homemaker, were Friday, August 3 at 3:00 p.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home with Bro. Dennis Beal officiating. Burial was in Carroll Memorial Gardens in McKenzie.
Mrs. Hedgecock died Thursday, August 2 at McKenzie Methodist Hospital of heart failure.
She was born December 10, 1924 in McKenzie to the late Ettie Cook Hedgecock and Earnest Hedgecock.
Surviving is a brother, Joe Hedgecock of McKenzie. A sister, Zelma R. Hedgecock preceded her in death.

Ruby Graham
HUMBOLDT: Services for Ruby L. Graham, 67, were at 3:00 p.m., Friday, August 3 with the Reverend George McNinn officiating. Cremation followed the services. Mrs. Graham died on Wednesday, August 1 at the St. Matthew Manor in Humboldt.
She was born on January 31, 1934, the daughter of Wafie Medlin Gibson and the late John Gibson. She was a retired waitress and was a Baptist in belief.
She is survived by two daughters and one son, Belinda Tole of Jackson, Kathy Jones of Cedar Grove, and Eric D. Williams of Jackson; her mother, Wafie Mann of Huntingdon; two brothers, Larry Gibson and Harry Gibson, both of Alamo; a sister, Marilyn Addcox of St. Louis, Missouri; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The family has requested that memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society, 76 Federal Drive, Jackson, TN 38305.
Arrington Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Jessie "Arnelle" Bateman
TREZEVANT - Services for Jessie "Arnelle" Bateman, 87, were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 6 at First Baptist Church in Trezevant with Bro. Malcolm Norton officiating. Mrs. Bateman, retired owner of Bateman Store in Trezevant, died Saturday night, August 4 at Oak Manor Healthcare Center.
She was born November 20, 1913 in Wildersville to the late Ebie Rush Tate and Jacob Tate. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Trezevant.
She is survived by four sons, Dwayne Bateman, Lloyd Bateman, and Clyde Bateman, all of Trezevant and Gordon Bateman of Collierville; a daughter, Martha Hopper of Nashville; two sisters, Evelyn Fesmire of Trezevant and Pattie Sue Scott of Lexington; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L. H. Bateman.
Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Freeman DePriest
ATWOOD - Services for Mr. Freeman DePriest, 99, were held Sunday, August 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church with the Reverends George McMinn and David Harwell officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. DePriest died Thursday, August 2 at Baptist Hospital in Huntingdon.
He was born April 20, 1902 to the late William Oscar DePriest and Olivia Milam DePriest. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and Pleasant Green Mason Lodge #291.
Survivors include a son, Rev. Weldon DePriest of Atwood; four daughters, Marie Marshall and Dean Smith of Atwood, Catherine Wall of Clarksburg, and Bobbie Hicks of Jackson; a brother, J. B. DePriest of Trezevant; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosie Dell DePriest; a son, Reverend Warren Holmes DePriest and two daughters, Betty Ann DePriest and Mary Frances Robinson.
Bodkin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Myra Williams Hill
HOLLOW ROCK - Services for Mrs. Myra Williams Hill, 38, were at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 3 at Parkers Chapel Church with burial in Parkers Chapel cemetery.
She died Friday, July 27 at her home.
Surviving are her husband, James Hill; her parents, Connie Williams and Willow Dean Williams-Johnson; a daughter, Felica Williams; a stepdaughter, Teyonnan Hill of Champaign, Illinois; a son, Rayward T. Ambrew of Hollow Rock; a stepson Leavell D. Allen of Champaign, Illinois; five sisters, Valarie Williams, Pamela Johnson, Joann Johnson and Jeanette Johnson, all of Huntingdon and Mary Lou Johnson of Humboldt; seven brothers, Ernie Chapple, Dwight Williams, Michael Williams, Bo Johnson, Eric Johnson and Ray Johnson, all of Huntingdon and Bobby Williams of Covington and two grandchildren.
Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

T. Willie Adkisson
TREZEVANT - Services for T. Willie Adkisson, 77, were Saturday, August 4, at Mr. Ararat Baptist Church with Bro. C. E. Pipkin officiating. Burial was in Mt. Ararat Church cemetery.
Mr. Adkisson, a gas station attendant (Texaco), died Monday, July 30 at Dekalb Medical Center in Decatur, Georgia of heart disease.
He was born January 4, 1924 in Trezevant to the late Andrew and Lillie Hurt Adkisson. He was a member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Alberta Adkisson of Los Angeles, California; six children, Mary Chapman of Los Angeles, California; Joanna Rhodes of Atlanta, Georgia, Willie T. Adkisson of Omaha, Nebraska, Aaron Thomas Adkisson of Chicago, Illinois, and Annie Louise Adkisson and James Adkisson of Los Angeles, California; a brother, Bobby Joe Adkisson of McKenzie; three sisters, Martha Taylor, Elizabeth Adkisson and Eleanor Adkisson, all of Trezevant; one foster brother, Larry Rutherford of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Bond Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Jerry M. Trolinger
BUCHANAN: Jerry Monroe Trolinger, 70, died Wednesday, August 1 in Guntersville, Alabama. He was the owner and operator of Trolinger's Inc. on East Wood Street in Paris.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 3 at Ridgeway Funeral Home in Paris with Rev. Vance Rushing officiating. Burial followed in Memorial cemetery.
Trolinger was born March 21, 1931 in Jackson, the son of James Monroe and Pauline Hicks Trolinger, now deceased. He was married November 19, 1985 to the former Linda Jo Hutchison.
A graduate of North Side High School in Jackson, he was a U. S. Navy veteran and a past commodore of the Paris Landing Association of Yachting.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons, Mike Trolinger of Buchanan, Jerry Trolinger of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Galen Trolinger of Mount Holly Springs, Pennsylvania, Terry Trolinger of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and Joel Trolinger of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; a sister, Joyce Alsup of Murfreesboro and eight grandchildren.

Clifford Calvin "Goob" Sutton
HUNTINGDON - Mr. Clifford Calvin "Goob" Sutton, 75, died Tuesday, July 31 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, August 2 in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Wayne Burton officiating. Interment icon followed in Carter's Chapel cemetery.
Mr. Sutton was born August 25, 1925 in Huntingdon to the late Bly and Molly Hester Scott Sutton. He was a member of Carter's Chapel Church and an army veteran and the retired owner of Goob's Bar-b-que. He was also preceded in death by a son, David Aubrey Sutton; two brothers, Algie Sutton and Hollis Sutton and a sister, Raymell Watson.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Tommie Jewel Robison Sutton; a son, Clifford Larry Sutton of New Braunfels, Texas; a daughter, Brenda Sutton Patterson of McKenzie; three grandchildren; three brothers, Tye Sutton and Paul Sutton, both of Terry Community and John Sutton of Huntingdon; two sisters, Mary Carroll of Paris and Margaret Pearson of the Terry Community.

Virginia Massey Davidson
Mrs. Virginia Massey Davidson, 76, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, formerly of Huntingdon, passed away August 2 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 4 in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Mickey Carpenter officiating. Interment icon followed at Oak Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Davidson is survived by two daughters, Janet Davidson of Nashville and Dianne Davidson of Rochester, New York; a son, Brent Davidson of Nashville; and three grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Virgil Massey and a brother, William Harper Massey of Huntingdon and husband Wyly P. Davidson, Jr. of Camden.
Mrs. Davidson was an accomplished singer, dancer, and actor, who trained at Stephen's College and directed community musical/variety productions in addition to performing as a soloist at church and social functions. She was active in the United Methodist Church and Democratic Party in Carroll and Benton counties, was president of Wesleyan Services Guild, president of local PTA and PTA council, chairman of the Cancer Crusade, March of Dimes and Heart Fund drives.

Hester Chandler Edwards
BRUCETON - Services for Hester Chandler Edwards, 94, were at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 3 at Bruceton Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Whitworth officiating. Burial was in Hebron cemetery near Bruceton.
Mrs. Edwards, retired seamstress for HIS Co. Inc. died Wednesday, August 1 at Life Care Center in Bruceton of heart disease.
She was born June 25, 1907 in Carroll County to the late Lee Morgan Chandler and Daisy Dean Chandler.
She was a member of the New Friendship Methodist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E. Edwards and a son, Thomas Beasley.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Clara Ramage of Memphis; a son, Ondell Beasley of Millington; a sister, Sarah Preston of Pascagoula, Mississippi; a granddaughter and a great-grandchild.

Doris Delaney
McKENZIE - Graveside services for Doris Delaney, 82, were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 4 at Mt. Olivet cemetery. Mrs. Delaney died on Thursday, August 2 at Douglas Nursing Home in Milan.
She was born July 31, 1919 in McKenzie to the late Anna Guill Delaney and Ben F. Delaney.
Survivors include several cousins.
Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Robert Lynn Taylor
1957-2005
McKENZIE - Services for Robert Lynn Taylor, 48, were conducted Sunday, July 3, at Reedy Creek Baptist Church in McLemoresville. Interment icon followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Taylor died suddenly at McKenzie Regional Hospital.
He was born June 29, 1957, in Ben Harbor, Michigan, to the late Wilbert Taylor and Elsie Dean Coleman Taylor, who survives. He was preceded in death by a brother, Cornelius.
Survivors include his wife, Harriette Milton Taylor; two sons, Carlos Taylor and Taurus Taylor, both of McKenzie; two stepsons, Eric Cozart and Reggie Cozart, both of McKenzie; one brother, Larry Darnell Taylor of Atwood; four sisters, Adean Newbill and Sabrina Taylor, both of McKenzie, and Ann McClerkin and Mary Ann Taylor, both of Atwood; two stepbrothers, Charlie Collins, Jr. and Robert Lee Collins; one stepsister, Barbara Harrell; and four grandchildren.
