William Earl "Heavy" Pruett
HOLLOW ROCK - Mr. William Earl "Heavy" Pruett, 50, died Friday, May 3 at Baptist Hospital in Nashville. Graveside services were conducted on Sunday, May 5 at Hebron cemetery with Brother Robert White officiating.
Mr. Pruett was born May 26, 1951 to the late Buford and Opal Bell Pruett in Carroll County. One son, Michael Ray Pruett, preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Michelle Baker of Hollow Rock; one son, Billy Pruett of Cedar Grove; one sister, Della Kay Mitchell of McEwen; one brother, James Pruett of Cedar Grove and one grandson.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothy Jean Whitt
ATWOOD - Services for Mrs. Dorothy Jean Whitt, 80, were at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 4, at Bodkin Funeral Home in Milan. Interment icon followed in Keaton cemetery in Atwood.
Mrs. Whitt, a homemaker, died Friday, May 3 at the Humboldt Nursing Home in Humboldt.
A daughter, Brenda Crocker; two brothers, Gaylon Stewart and Charlie Stewart and a sister, Thelma Pearmon, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Horn of Arlington and Debbie Keymon of Atwood; three sons, Dene White, Gene Whitt and Ronnie Whitt, all of Atwood; two sisters, Doris DePriest of Trezevant and Gail Gatlin of Cedar Grove; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Howse Baptist Church.

Janice Chatham
JACKSON - Services Janice Simpson Chatham, 65, formerly of Trezevant, were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 3 at West Jackson Baptist Church with Dr. Maurice Hollingsworth officiating. Burial was in Antioch cemetery in North Madison County. Arrington Funeral Directors was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Chatham died suddenly on Tuesday, April 30 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.
A native of Medina, she was the daughter of the late Luton and Hallie Greenhaw Simpson. She was married to Jerry Chatham, who preceded her in death in 1987. She was a graduate of Northside High School and received a bachelor's degree from Bethel College and a master's degree from University of Tennessee at Martin. A school teacher for many years, she retired in 1997 from the West Carroll School District. After her retirement, she became an active substitute teacher for the Jackson-Madison County Schools. Mrs. Chatham was elected to the Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame in the spring of 1999. She was a very active member of the West Jackson Baptist Church and the Singles II Sunday School class.
Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne Campbell of Nashville and Carlin Elrod of Humboldt; a son, Neal Chatham of Dyersburg; a brother, Jerry Simpson of Collierville; a sister, Claudia Graves of Medina; and four grandchildren.
A daughter, Jana Chatham Haynes, also preceded her in death in 1992.
The family has requested that memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society, 2935 Hwy 45 Bypass, Jackson, TN 38305 or the Building Fund of West Jackson Baptist Church, 580 Oil Well Road, Jackson, TN 38305.

Lottie Wells Ford
MARTIN - Services for Lottie Wells Ford, 86, were at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 7 at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Raymon Carneal and Rev. Matt Brown officiating. Burial was in East Side cemetery in Martin.
Mrs. Ford, widow of Jack Ford, died Saturday, May 4 at Van Ayer Nursing Home.
She was born July 19, 1915 to the late Henry Wells and Nola Riggs Wells. She was a member of Central Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Bill Ford of Jackson; two daughters, Barbara Everett of Martin and Betty Reaves of McKenzie; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

William G. Rhodes
CEDAR GROVE - Services for William G. Rhodes, 84, will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 8 at Bodkin Funeral Home in Milan with burial in the Obion Chapel cemetery near Cedar Grove. A son, William E. Rhodes, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Lorene Rhodes of Cedar Grove; three brothers, Alton Rhodes, Ike Rhodes and John T. Rhodes, all of Lexington; a sister, Lessie Williams of Eads and a grandson.

James W. Blount
BUENA VISTA - Services for James W. Blount, 83, were at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 6 at Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Allison officiating. Burial was in Jamison cemetery near Westport.
Mr. Blount, retired conductor for L&N Railroad, died Thursday, May 2 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
He was born in Henderson County to the late Willie Gray Blount and Siddie Walker Blount. He was a member of Westport Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sisters, Juanita Cox of Buena Vista, Mary Ruth Enochs of Huntingdon and Louise Williams of Amarillo, Texas.
His wife, Margaret Woodard Blount, preceded him in death.

Nicky Lee Wynne
DRESDEN - Services for Nicky Lee Wynn, 51, formerly of Gleason were at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 7 at the Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Copeland officiating. Interment icon followed in the Hopewell cemetery.
Mr. Wynne, a retired truck driver, died on Saturday, May 4 at Methodist Volunteer Hospital.
He was born on June 20, 1950 in Barger, Texas. He was a member of Beech Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn H. Wynne; his mother, Dorothy Babb Kreuger of Dresden; two daughters, Nicki Jo Anaya and Cari Jo Garcia, both of Witchita, Kansas; a stepdaughter, Shannon Marshall of Kent, Washington; a stepson, Scott Jackson of Dresden and two grandchildren.
His father, Harold Marvin Wynne preceded him in death.

Yadira Maya Ramirez
PARIS - Services for Yadira Maya Ramirez, 18, will be at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 8 at the Ridgeway Funeral Home Rosary with Rev. Victor Ciaramitaro officiating. Burial will take place in the LaPiedad Michoacan, Mexico.
Miss Ramirez died on Sunday, May 5.
She was born on May 24, 1983 in LaPiedad Michoacan, Mexico to Salvador Maya and Concepcion Ramirez. She had resided in Paris for an unspecified time.
Survivors include her parents, who reside in Mexico, and an aunt and uncle, Sylvia and Jaime Onate of Paris.

Bobbie Jean Gilbert
McKENZIE - Funeral services for Bobbie Gilbert, 58, were Sunday, October 21 at Olivet Baptist Church in McKenzie with burial in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Ms. Gilbert died Wednesday, October 17 at Methodist Healthcare in McKenzie of heart failure.
She was born November 15, 1942 in McKenzie to the late Tim Ottbridge and Laura Mae Gilbert. She was a member of Olivet Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Edward Gilbert, Sr. of McKenzie; two brothers, Tim Ottbridge and Maurice Ottbridge, both of South Bend, Indiana; eight sisters, Belinda Watts, Viola Comer, Vanessa Ottbridge, Robin Ottbridge, Cheryle Godwin, all of South Bend, Indiana; Cookie Jefferson of Wisconsin, Jean King of Chicago, Illinois and Frances Jones of Seattle, Washington; a stepmother Christine Ottbridge and one grandchild.
Rawls Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

James Earl Knott
BRUCETON - Services for James Earl Knott, 82, were Saturday, October 20 at Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James S. Daniel officiating. Mr. Knott died October 10 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Burial was in Hebron cemetery near Bruceton.
He was born June 11, 1919 in Weakley County to the late Fonzie and Willie Dale Fuzzell Knott. He was a member of Prospect Baptist Church in Hollow Rock. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Hollis H. Knott.
Surviving are his wife, Maggie Knott, several nieces and nephews.

Charles Wayne Beckman
BRUCETON - Funeral services for Mr. Charles Wayne Beckman, 60, were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 19 at Stockdale-Malin Chapel with Bro. Eulas Greer officiating. Burial was in Eastview cemetery in Camden.
Mr. Beckman died Monday, October 15 at Camden General Hospital at Camden General Hospital.
He was born August 13, 1941 in Blytheville, Arkansas to the late Charles T. Beckman and Lucille Watkins Beckman.
Survivors include two sisters, Judy Pinson of Camden and Berry O'Hare of Chicago, Illinois; four brothers, George Beckman of Fulton, California, Jesse Beckman, Walter Beckman and Billy Beckman, all of Chicago, Illinois.

John David Smothers
1948-2006
HUNTINGDON - John David Smothers, age 57, died Tuesday, March 21 at his home after a long illness. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 23, at 2:00 p.m., at Chase Funeral Home. Interment icon will be in Humbles cemetery. Brother Wayne Holmes and Brother Jerry Hassell will officiate. Visitation will be in the Cherry Wood Room of Chase Funeral Home, Huntingdon after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday.
Mr. Smothers was born April 30, 1948, in Huntingdon. He was owner and an agent at Huntingdon Insurance Agency, a member of the Huntingdon Lions Club, the Huntingdon Masonic Lodge #106, and Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, an avid golfer and musician.
He is survived by his wife, Nina Sellers Smothers, his parents, Thomas Leo Smothers and Mary Belle (May) Smothers of Huntingdon; one daughter, Anna Kathryn Smothers of Nashville; two sons, Nathan (Deanna) Smothers and John Eli (Jack) Smothers; two brothers, William Lee (Linda) Smothers, and Joe Thomas (Lana) Smothers, all of Huntingdon; and one grandson, Noah Smothers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Carroll County Library. For more information, contact Chase Funeral Home.

Mildred Harder Burrow
1916-2006
McKENZIE - Mildred Harder Burrow, 89, died Saturday, March 18, at McKenzie Regional Hospital. The funeral service was conducted Tuesday, March 21, at Liberty United Methodist Church in McKenzie with the Rev. James Smith officiating. Interment icon followed in Shiloh cemetery. Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Burrow was born June 15, 1916, in Carroll County, to the late Harvey and Myrtle Cobb Harder. She was a retired teacher at Macedonia, a former clerk at Ben Franklin Family Center, and a member of Liberty United Methodist Church and the McKenzie and Macedonia Extension Homemakers Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben Johnson Burrow.

Ernest Ray Wilson
1919-2006
PARIS - Ernest Ray "Sam" Wilson, formerly of Atwood, age 87, died Wednesday, March 15, at his residence. The funeral service was conducted Saturday, March 18, at Bodkin Funeral Home with the Rev. Eugene Blankenship officiating. Interment icon followed in Oakwood cemetery in Milan.
Mr. Wilson was born January 29, 1919, to the late E.H. Wilson and Callie Kate Scott. He was a veteran of World War II, a retired employee of the Milan Army ammunition plant and a member of First Baptist Church in Paris.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eula Jean Belew Wilson, one brother, Bill Wilson and one sister, Pauline Courtwright.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Dunkle Wilson; one son, Sammy G. Wilson of Tucson, Arizona; two daughters, Jane Wilson McInnish of Paris and Joan Wilson Nance of Huntingdon; three brothers, Ralph Wilson of Sharon, Gerald Wilson of Adamsville, and Bobby Joe Wilson of Atwood; one sister, Ruth Wilson Smith of Martin, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to the Gideons International.
