John W. Milton
1929-2006
HENRY - John W. Milton, 76, died Monday, March 13, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris. The funeral service was held Saturday, March 18, at Coles Chapel C.M.E. Church in Henry with the Rev. James L. Darden Jr. officiating. Burial followed in Greenwood cemetery in Paris.
Mr. Milton was born May 20, 1929, in Henry, to John Milton and Artie Mae Owens Milton, both deceased. He was a member of Coles Chapel, C.M.E. Church, Union Fellowship Choir, and the Masonic lodge.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Isaiah Deshaun Milton; one sister, Pearlie Mai Tharpe; and one brother, Fred Milton.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mamie Faye Cunningham Milton; two sons, William (Jean) Milton of Indianapolis, Indiana, and John Edward Milton of Henry; four daughters, Linda Sue Walker of Rockford, Illinois, Burnette Milton of Indianapolis, Indiana, Vanessa (Eddie) Waymeyer of Clarksville, and Sylvia (William) Crute of Indianapolis, Indiana; three brothers, George (Wilma) Milton of McKenzie, James (Kimberly) Milton of Trezevant, Eddie (Shirley) Milton of McKenzie; four sisters, Mattie Porter of Henry, Laura B. (Charles) Warren of Trezevant; Annie Jean (Charles) Lawrence of McKenzie; and Peggy Henry of Henry; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, several other relatives and friends.

Mary Lucille Beal Crocker
1924-2006
McKENZIE - Mary Lucille Beal Crocker, 81, died Tuesday, March 14, at McKenzie Health Care Center. The funeral service was conducted Thursday, March 16, at Brummitt Funeral Home with Bro. Dennis Beal officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mrs. Crocker was born August 23, 1924, in Trezevant, to the late Otto and Maxine Parker Beal. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Guy Crocker, and one brother, James Ralph Beal.
She is survived by one brother, Joe Beal of McKenzie.

Marvin Glen Jordan
1922-2006
HUNTINGDON - Marvin Glen Jordan, 83, died Wednesday, March 15, at his home.
The funeral service was conducted Friday, March 17, in the chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Fred Ward officiating. Interment icon followed in the Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Jordan was born August 10, 1922, in the Rosser Community, to the late Jessie Lee Jordan and Nolie Ann (Melton) Jordan. He was a retired serviceman for the West Tennessee Public Utility District, a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Huntingdon.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Horace Jordan, Vernon Jordan, Earl Jordan, and Leon Jordan.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Claudine (Norden) Jordan, one daughter, Glenda (Vince) Taylor and one granddaughter, Morgan Taylor, all of Huntingdon; three sisters, Marjorie French and Gladys Kee, both of Camden, and Brooxie Jordan of Nashville; two brothers, Joe Neal Jordan of Streetsboro, Ohio, and Paul Jordan of Camden; and several nieces and nephews.

Jane Sexton Atkins
1920-2006
MCKENZIE/NASHVILLE - Jane Sexton Atkins, 85, formerly of McKenzie, died Thursday, March 16, at her residence. The funeral service will be conducted Sunday, March 26, at 2:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church in McKenzie, with the Revs. Harrell Nation and John E. Pugh officiating. Interment icon will follow in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Visitation will take place at Brummitt Funeral Home Saturday, March 25, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and at First United Methodist Church, Underwood Hall, on Sunday, March 26, from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
Mrs. Atkins was born May 1, 1920, in Murray, Kentucky, to Jesse Dudley and Maude Whitnell Sexton, both deceased. She was the director of music at Bethel College from 1943-1946; choir director and organist for several years at McKenzie First United Methodist Church, where she was a member; and organist at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in McKenzie. She was a graduate of Murray High School and Murray State College, where she received the degree of Bachelor of Music Education. At Murray State she was member of several music organizations, Sigma Alpha Iota, a music fraternity for women, and Kappa Delta Pi, an honorary education fraternity. She was selected as the outstanding woman graduating senior in the music department in 1941. She received the Master of Music degree from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a member of the Mentor Club of McKenzie and was a former pianist for the McKenzie Rotary Club. She was very active in the McKenzie Methodist Church, and was an officer in the United Methodist Women for many years, church historian and a member of the Administration Board. She was a member of the Memphis Conference Commission on Archives and History and a member of the Board of Directors of Carroll Arts. She was honored by this organization as a "Friends of the Arts" in June 2003. She was a resident of the St. Paul Senior Living Community in Nashville since 1999.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wendell Atkins, Jr., two sisters, Ruth Whitnell Sexton and Mary Frances Sexton; and one son-in-law, John Proctor.
Survivors include one son, John (Dana) Sexton Atkins of Nashville, one daughter, Nancy Proctor of Nashville; and four grandchildren: Katie, Clint, and Callie Atkins and Ryan Proctor.
Memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church, McKenzie, or Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203.

Paul Junior Cole
1946-2006
BUENA VISTA - Paul Junior Cole, 59, died Friday, March 17, at his residence.
The funeral service was held Saturday, March 18, at Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jamie Sprayberry and Dwayne Brown officiating. Burial followed in Cole cemetery, near Buena Vista.
Mr. Cole was born October 29, 1946, in Lake County, to the late Marvin Cole and Hattie Warren Cole. He was a Vietnam veteran and owner/manager of Cole & Sons Well Drilling.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Marie Henson Cole; one daughter, Christie (Dwayne) Maness of Buena Vista; one son, Joe (Nea) Cole of Buena Vista; a sister, Kay Luckett of Buena Vista; a brother, Freddie Cole of Jackson; and four grandchildren.

Billy Jim Roark
HUNTINGDON - Mr. Billy Jim Roark, 69, died Tuesday, October 16 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, October 18 in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ernest Ray Pounds and Brother Tim Lunn officiating. Interment icon followed at Obion Chapel cemetery.
Mr. Roark was born January 10, 1932 to the late Gurther and Virgie Pendergrass Roark in Clarksburg. He was a retired employee of the Fisher Building Company and a member of the Obion Chapel Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delma Hardeman Roark, who died in 1985.
He is survived by one sister, Bennie Alford of Huntingdon and four nieces.

Walter Wesley Lewis, Jr.
HUNTINGDON - Mr. Walter Wesley Lewis, Jr., 58, died Tuesday, October 16 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, October 18 in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Robert Jones officiating. Interment icon followed at West Union cemetery.
Mr. Lewis was born May 30, 1943 to the late Walter Wesley and Anna Eugenie Sulcer Lewis, Sr. in Memphis. He was a retired employee of the HOPE Center.

Linda Carol Lomax
BRUCETON - Mrs. Linda Carol Lomax, 48, died Friday, October 19 at her home. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, October 21 in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bobby French officiating. Interment icon followed in Prospect cemetery
Mrs. Lomax was born April 30, 1953 to the late Felix Graden and Lexie D. Whittaker Cary in Carroll County.
She is survived by her husband, Dexter Lomax of Bruceton; two stepsons, Brad Lomax of Huntingdon and Thad Lomax of Parsons; three brothers, Larry Whittaker of Bartlett, Bennie and Grady Cary, both of Yuma and one step-granddaughter.

Joseph Wesley Cain
BRUCETON - Graveside services for Joseph Wesley Cain, 94, were at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 30 at Eastview cemetery. Mr. Cain died Friday, September 28 at Lifecare Center in Bruceton.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Stockdale-Malin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Rev. James Harold Grissom
GLEASON - Services for Rev. James Harold Grissom, 83, were Saturday, September 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Beech Springs Baptist Church with the Revs. Randy Isbell, Bob Copeland and Tony Terrell officiating. Burial was in Hopewell cemetery.
Rev. Grissom, a retired minister and postal employee, died Wednesday, September 19 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital of heart failure.
He was born November 24, 1917 in Gleason to the late Robert and Henrietta Stallcup Grissom. He was a member of Beech Springs Baptist Church and Gleason Masonic Lodge #330.
Survivors include a son, Robert H. Grissom of Henderson; a daughter, Janice Windle of Midlothian and six grandchildren.
Gallimore Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothy McKnight
CEDAR GROVE - Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy McKnight, 71, were at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, September 30 at Bodkin Funeral Home in Milan with Rev. Randy Carter and Rev. Jackie Wilkerson officiating. Burial was in the Oakwood cemetery in Milan.
Mrs. McKnight, a homemaker, died Friday, September 28 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital of heart failure.
She was born in Alco, Louisiana, October 27, 1929, daughter of the late Dave and Leodie Dowden Hillman, but had lived in Cedar Grove for the past six years. She attended the Northside Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by her husband, Robert W. McKnight, Sr.; four sons, Charles Salles of Trenton, Hank Beschoner of Leesville, Louisiana and Robert W. McKnight, Jr. and Marty McKnight, both of Cedar Grove; a brother, Ray Hillman of Hutton, Louisiana; two sisters, Mary Wallett and Florence Johnson, both of Hutton, Louisiana; thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Cecil M. Jarrett, Sr.
CEDAR GROVE - Services for Cecil M. Jarrett, Sr., were at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, September 30 at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial in the Hickory Flat cemetery.
Mr. Jarrett, a retired truck driver for Pierce Packaging Co., died Thursday, September 27 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. He was a U. S. Army Veteran.
Survivors include a son, Cecil Jarrett, Jr. of Cedar Grove; a daughter, Brandie Jarrett of Trezevant; a brother, James Jarrett of Cedar Grove; and three sisters, Dottie Anderson of Jackson, Beverly Hart of Cedar Grove, and Brenda Carpenter of Springville; and one grandchild.

Chester "Junior" Bullington
MILAN - Services for Mr. Chester "Junior" Bullington, 76, a retired Lieutenant with the Tennessee Highway Patrol were Friday, September 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Bodkin Funeral Home. Burial was in the Poplar Springs cemetery.
Mr. Bullington died Tuesday, September 25 at his residence.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he was also a member of the George Cantrell Sunday School class. He was a member of the Milan Lions Club, U. S. Coast Guard and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4780. He was a veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Allen Bullington; a daughter, June Bullington Jones of Milan; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the local American Cancer Society or the First Baptist Church Building Fund.

Addie Mai Butler Pearson
HUNTINGDON - Mrs. Addie Mai Butler Pearson, 81, died Saturday, September 29 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 3 at the St. Paul's Baptist Church with Reverend Charles Copeland officiating. Interment icon will follow in the church cemetery on Thursday morning.
Mrs. Pearson, the daughter of the late Earlie and Lubie Bledsoe Butler, was born March 11, 1920 in Carroll County. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Paul Owens, a brother, C. S. Butler, and two sisters, Madeline Waller and Pharisee Butler.
She is survived by her husband, Cleotis "Poker" Pearson; four daughter, Sherry Pearson of Huntingdon; Linda Johnson of Detroit, Michigan, Ruth Reynolds and Oran Dean Hopper, both of Cincinnati, Ohio; one son, Roy Chester Owens of Wichita, Kansas; one sister, Odessa Abbage of Huntingdon; two brothers, Hugh Butler of Huntingdon and Jethro Butler of Wildersville; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
