Joe Frank Brush
1949-2006
McKENZIE - Joe Frank Brush, 56, died Thursday, April 6, at his residence after a long illness. Services were held Saturday, April 8, in the Cedar Avenue Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie McClure and Bro. Frank Criswell officiating. Interment icon followed in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mr. Brush was born October 15, 1949, in McKenzie, to the late Willard and Nell Barner Brush. He was manager of operations for CSX Railroad for 36 years. When he was not working with a 70-man tie gang for the railroad he enjoyed mowing yards and riding his Harley Davidson Road King. He was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. He retired from the Tennessee National Guard Milan Unit after 23 years as a first sergeant. He was also a TWRA hunters education instructor for 20 years, and was a graduate of McKenzie High School. He was honorary co-chairman for Relay For Life Carroll North in May 2004.
Survivors include his wife, Toni Warman Brush of McKenzie; three sons, Joey (Gina) Brush of McKenzie; Dean (Krista) Brush of McKenzie; and Evan (Samantha) Brush of Lavinia; one daughter, Buffi (Kelly) Price of Huntingdon; one sister, Nellie Ann (Clennon) Dailey of Martin; and five grandchildren.

William Thomas Allen
1949-2006
HUNTINGDON - William Thomas Allen, 56, died Wednesday, April 5, at his residence.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, April 7, in the chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment icon followed in the Bethel cemetery. Bro. Fred Ward officiated the service.
Mr. Allen was born June 3, 1949, in Carroll County, to the late Charlie E. Allen and Mary Ellen (Wells) Allen. He was a forklift operator for the Milan Box Company.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Virginia Allen, one son, David (Darlene) Allen of Brownsville; two sisters, Alice (Bob) Cassidy of McKenzie and Bonnie (James Paul) Baxter of Trezevant; two brothers, Bobby (Kay) Allen and Darrell (Betty) Allen, both of Huntingdon; and three grandchildren.

Lauri Ann Fry
1955-2006
HUNTINGDON - Lauri Ann Fry, 50, died Friday, April 7. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, April 9, in the chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment icon followed in Ferguson cemetery. Bro. Robert Barger officiated the service.
Mrs. Fry was born September 22, 1955, in Shelby County, to James Townsend, deceased, and Bettie Holloway, who survives. She was a licensed practical nurse and worked at various hospitals and nursing homes in West Tennessee, most recently at Paris Manor in Paris. After her retirement she devoted a great deal of time to helping found and working for the Carroll County Humane Society. She worked as an animal welfare officer, rescuing abused and abandoned animals.
She is survived by her husband, Franklin Fry, whom she married September 22, 1955; a son, William (Julie) Raim of Huntingdon; one brother, Joseph (Dana) Townsend of Buena Vista; two nieces, Jeanna (Seth) McCarthy and Amanda (Ray) Joyner; and one granddaughter, Emma Raim.
Donations may be made in her name to the Carroll County Humane Society.

Evie Green
1917-2006
HUNTINGDON - Evie Green, 88, died Friday, April 7, at Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, April 9, at Huntingdon Missionary Baptist Church. Interment icon followed in the Jamison cemetery. Brother Lynn Stapleton officiated the services. Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Green was born December 8, 1917, in Benton County, to the late John W. and Judy Flowers Ellis. She was a member of the Huntingdon Missionary Baptist Church and a retired employee of the Carroll County Hospital.
She was preceded in death by Roy Hall; three sisters, Lillie Clark, Ethel Hampton, and Annie Robinson; four brothers, Roy Ellis, Grover Ellis, Edmond Ellis, and Levi Ellis; and two granddaughters.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Max Green; three daughters, Betty Davis of Union City and Brenda Brown and Carol Hall, both of Huntingdon; a son, L.J. Hall of Huntingdon; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

MELINDA RHEA GARRETT
1982-2006
McKENZIE - Melinda Rhea Garrett, age 23, of McKenzie died suddenly at McKenzie Regional Hospital on March 28, 2006, following a short illness. Funeral services were Friday, March 31, 2006, 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, McKenzie. Brother Clayton Owen and Brother Dennis Trull delivered the eulogy. Burial was in Mt. Olivet cemetery. Brummitt Funeral Home of McKenzie was in charge of services.
Melinda was born December 1, 1982 to Dale and Fay Elam Garrett of McKenzie. She was a 2001 graduate of McKenzie High School, where she was an honor student and a member of the cheerleading squad. She attended the University of Tennessee at Martin for four years, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. While at UTM, she was president of Panhellenic Council, a member of the homecoming court, and a member of the Miss UTM royalty. She was also a University Scholar.
She was a first year pharmacy student at the U.T. College of Health Sciences in Memphis and a member of First Baptist Church, McKenzie.
Survivors include her parents, Dale and Fay Garrett; a sister, Anna Garrett of Nashville; and a grandmother, Rachel Elam of Greenfield. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Jack Ray Elam Sr. and her paternal grandparents, Sam and Novella Garrett.
A scholarship fund has been established at UT College of Pharmacy School in memory of Melinda. Checks may be made payable to UT College of Pharmacy. On the memo line put "Melinda Garrett Scholarship Fund." Ronnie Harper
1945-2006
PARIS - Ronnie Harper, 60, died Tuesday, March 28, at Henry County Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, March 30, at Ridgeway Funeral Home. Tommie Dicus officiated the service. Burial followed in Bevil cemetery.
Mr. Harper was born July 25, 1945, in Detroit, to Paul Jackson Harper and Eva Gray Norsworthy Harper, both deceased. He worked at Mar-Kel Lighting, formerly of Paris, until he became disabled in 1993. He was a charter member of Victory Fellowship Christian Ministries and served on its deacon board. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyn Harper and Patricia Harper Davis; and two brothers, Luby and Delbert Harper.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry Harper; two daughters, Amy (Jerry Dale) Gilbert of Paris and Hope (Isaac) Williams of Mississippi; one son, Martin (Carrie) Harper of Murray; two brothers, Len Harper of Greenfield and Jimmy Harper of Benton, Kentucky; five sisters, Dixie Raymer and Bobbie Jones, both of Paris, Donna Hodge of Como, Theresa Lowe of McKenzie, and Sherry Key of Medina; and nine grandchildren.

Narvil R. Gaskin
1918-2006
McKENZIE - Narvil R. Gaskin, 87, died Tuesday, March 28 at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Services were conducted Thursday, March 30, at Brummitt Funeral Home. Bro. Jim Robert and Bro. John Forgy officiated the service. Burial followed in Christian Chapel cemetery in Huntingdon.
Mr. Gaskin, a retired employee of Milan Arsenal, was born August 5, 1918, in McKenzie, to the late Elmer and Emma Weatherford Gaskin. He was a member of the McKenzie Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Lois Carnal Gaskin; one brother, Roy Gaskin; and one sister, Jessie Lee Wilkes.
Survivors include one son, Paul (Pam) Gaskin of Jacksonville, Arkansas; a sister, Lee Denning of Paris; three sisters and brother-in-laws, Mildred (Wayne) Townsend, Clara Buttone (Tommy) Williams; and Kathleen Baldwin; two grandchildren, David Gaskin and Jessica Gaskin; one great-grandchild, Christian Gaskin; and seven nieces and nephews.

Mary E. Ross
1922-2006
McKENZIE - Mary E. Ross, 84, died Monday, March 27, at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis. Services were held Thursday, March 30, at Brummitt Funeral Home. Bros. Richard Allen, Joe Eaton, and Howell Gossett officiated the services. Burial followed in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mrs. Ross was born March 5, 1922, in Greenfield, to Calvin and Lillie Arnold Webb, both deceased. She was a member of Proctor City Baptist Church in Tiptonville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Ross; two sons, Jerry and Dale Ross; and one granddaughter.
Survivors include five sons, Charles (Janice) Ross, Roy (Kathy) Ross, Darrell (Debra) Ross, Robert (Rita) Ross, all of McKenzie, Tony Ross of Union City; four daughters, Betty (Dennis) Ridley, Deborah (Billy) Wilkes, all of McKenzie; Ann Hill of Union City, and Shelia Bynum of Dresden; one half-brother, James Webb of Springville; one half-sister, Annie Webb of Springville; 29 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Kenneth L. Smith
1933-2006
McKENZIE - Kenneth L. Smith, 72, died Saturday, April 1, at his residence. Funeral services were held Monday, April 3, at McKenzie Funeral Home with the Revs. Robert Prater and Phillip Halter officiating. Interment icon followed at Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mr. Smith was born on September 18, 1933, in Lavinia, to Henry Otha Smith and Lura Olive Vickers. He was a retired railroad employee.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lois Jean Pinson Smith; one daughter, Deborah Smith (Donald) Adams of Waverly; and one son, Timothy Allen Smith of McKenzie.

Tony Edward North
1968-2006
CAMDEN - Tony Edward North, 37, died Thursday, March 30, at Camden General Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 1, at Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jimmy Ellis officiated the service.
Mr. North was born October 8, 1968, in Cook County, Illinois, to the late L.T. Brackins and Carolyn Whitehead.
Survivors include one brother, James W. Brackins of Camden, and a special friend, Mrs. Mary Storey.

Juanita Maynard
1926-2006
McKENZIE - Juanita Maynard, 79, died Friday, March 31, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were Tuesday, April 4, in the Cedar Avenue Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home. Interment icon followed in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mrs. Maynard, a factory worker, was born May 2, 1926, in Pikeville, Kentucky, to the late Marion and Vergie Smith Ramey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Maynard, Sr.
Survivors include one son, Fred Maynard Jr. of Green Valley, Arizona; two daughters, Alicia Maynard of McKenzie and Shelby McCague of Green Valley, Arizona; two sisters, Emma Jean Bostic and Ruby Jackson, both of McKenzie; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Ernestine Spain
1927-2006
CEDAR GROVE - Cornelia Ernestine Spain, 78, died Thursday, March 30 at the Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 1, in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Bro. Don McCurley officiated the service. Interment icon followed in the Leach Seventh Day Adventist cemetery.
Miss Spain was born September 8, 1927, in Milan, to the late John Hershel Spain and Jesse (Fry) Spain. She was a homemaker and a member of the Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Spain, Sr.
She is survived by five sisters, Madlyn Rosel of Cordova, Gerry Spain and Mary (Paul) Flippin, both of Huntingdon, Jamie Mason and Jan Carpenter, both of Cedar Grove; two brothers, Johnny Spain of Jackson and Tommy Spain of Cedar Grove.

London Bedwell
1917-2006
JACKSON - London Lucette Bedwell, 89, died Thursday, March 30, at the Northbrooke Health Care Center in Jackson. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 1, in the chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Bro. Dwayne Ervin officiated the service. Interment icon followed in the Palmer Shelter cemetery.
Mrs. Bedwell was born January 3, 1917, in Humphreys County, to the late Donnie A. Baker and Carrie Hudson (Roberts) Baker. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Huntingdon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Bedwell; one daughter, Betty Lucille Bedwell; two sisters, Josie Beal and Bell Fesmire; and four brothers, Ray Baker, Don Baker, Denton Baker, and John Baker.
She is survived by one daughter, Pat Bedwell of Jackson; a dear friend and caregiver, Karen Piercey, of Jackson; one sister, Ree Bedwell of Burleson, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
