Samuel W. Beasley
JACKSON - Funeral services for Mr. Samuel Wardell Beasley, 84, were held Friday, August 31 at 2:00 p.m. at Berean Baptist Church.
Mr. Beasley was born December 14, 1916 in Vicksburg, Mississippi, the only child of Saul and Mable Beasley. Shortly after his birth, he moved with his family to Carroll County (Huntingdon). For a while he lived with his grandmother, Mrs. Rhonda Hill, in St. Louis, Missouri where he attended elementary school. He returned to Carroll County and attended Webb High School in McKenzie. He then attended Lane College in Jackson and graduated with a BA degree in education in 1941.
Following graduation, Mr. Beasley began his teaching career in a one-room school in Carroll County. One year later, he was drafted into military service and served three and one half years in the U. S. Army, with service in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. While stationed in Los Angeles, he and his college sweetheart were married
on September 21, 1943. They later settled in Henderson County and he began teaching at Montgomery High School, coached football and girls and boys basketball. He completed graduate studies and received a Master's Degree from Tennessee State University.
Survivors include his wife, Juanette Beasley; two daughters, Rhonda Malone of Champaign, Illinois and Barbara Ross of Sacramento, California; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Dorothy Adell Skinner
HUNTINGDON - Mrs. Dorothy Adell Skinner, 71, died Friday, August 31 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, September 3 in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Fred Ward officiating. Interment
followed in the Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Skinner, the daughter of the late John Leonard and Mary Mozella Johnson Reaves, was born July 23, 1930. She was a retired employee of the Thomas Bradford Company and a member of Huntingdon First Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Albert Ernest Skinner, who died in 1992.
She is survived by three daughters, Sharon Ditmore of Garden City, Michigan, Laura Johnson of Palmersville, and Dorothy Allison of Huntingdon; four sons, Al Skinner of Ventura, California, Victor Skinner of Livonia, Michigan; Lorne Skinner of Fair Oaks, California, and Keith Skinner of Huntingdon; three sister, Gladys Brethauer of Lansing, Michigan, Peggy Perritt of McKenzie and Wanda West of Houston, Texas; six brothers, Eugene Reaves of Lansing, Michigan, Joe Reaves, Jerry Reaves and Charles Reaves, all of McKenzie, Cecil Reaves of Trezevant and Bobby Reaves of Paris; 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Mary Jane Harder
HUNTINGDON - Mrs. Mary Jane Harder, 72, died Monday, September 3 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, September 6 at the Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Ed Fisher and Father Joseph Palozzi officiating. Interment
will be in the Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Harder was born April 17, 1929 to the late Joseph and Mary Marcin Sholtis in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a homemaker and a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, William Harder and one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Weekly of Huntingdon; one son, William Dale Harder of Parma, Ohio; two sisters, Irene Kloscak of Massa, Arizona and Eleanor Kepic of Avon Lake, Ohio; one brother, Robert Sholtis of Sun City, Arizona and three grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
James Hugh Waldrup
1928-2002
McKENZIE - Graveside services for James Hugh Waldrup, 74, were on at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24, at Shiloh cemetery in McKenzie with Bro. Vance Rushing officiating.
Mr. Waldrup, retired from the McKenzie Sanitation Department, died on Monday, September 23 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
He was born on June 16, 1928 in Paducah to the late Elsie Lee Strout and Bernice Waldrup.
Survivors include three daughters, Betty Moore of Bruceton and Judy Earls and Martha Myers, both of McKenzie; a son, Eddie Waldrup of Mayfield, Kentucky; two sisters, Margie Hime and Iva Mae Fuzzell, both of McKenzie, a brother, B.D. Waldrup of McKenzie; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Ronald Robert Reiter
1942-2002
BUENA VISTA - Mr. Ronald R. Reiter, 60, died on Wednesday, October 23 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital from complications of heart surgery. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, October 26 at 2:30 p.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Edward Fisher officiating.
Mr. Reiter was born July 26, 1942 in Streator, Illinois. His father, Robert Alfred Reiter, preceded him in death. He was a retired shopping supervisor for Norandal USA Inc., a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force Weather Service and being stationed in Mekong Delta. Since his retirement from Norandal four years ago, Ron was proud of his new role as family chef. He would watch the Food Channel, and loved to make up menus for the entire month at a time. He even liked doing grocery shopping. He enjoyed gardening and making wine and jams with the fruit from his garden. He also began to do substitute teaching, and after one day with a class, he would refer to the students as "my kids." He was excellent in math and was often told that he should have been a math teacher. He was gifted in explaining math and being patient with those challenged by the subject. Ron's other passion was bird watching. He seemed to have an eagle's eye for seeing the smallest bird, and it was a wonder how he could remember all their names. Sometimes his family through he was inventing the incredibly exotic names. Then he would prove himself by showing their names in his field guide.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Cabral Reiter, whom he married
on November 14, 1964; his mother, Verneal Reiter of Paxton, Illinois; two sons, Ronald R. (Amanda) Reiter II of Huntingdon and Eric (Teresa) Reiter of Jackson; one sister, Janet Lucille (Steve) Hancock of Paxton, Illinois; one brother, Richard (Martha) Reiter of Washington, Illinois and four grandchildren, Alex, Ben, Cayla and Carley.
Wayne Melvin Hewitt
1923-2002
GEORGETOWN: Wayne Melvin Hewitt, 79, of Hollow Rock, formerly of Georgetown, passed away at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 16 at his home.
He was born June 17, 1923 in Georgetown, the son of Melvin and Mignonitte Brazelton Hewitt. He married
Ann G. Craig on September 2, 1945 in Kentucky. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Dianna Bieber of Kansas City, Missouri and Karen Forrest of Trezevant; two brothers, Ray Hewitt of Catlin and Dale Hewitt of Texas; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Wayne was a retired electrician.
Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 18 at Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home in Georgetown with Ray Silver officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Mound cemetery.
Barbara Helen Goeman
1930-2002
McKENZIE - Services for Barbara Helen Goeman, 71, were at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 27 at Brummitt Funeral Home with Bro. Don Simmons officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet cemetery in McKenzie.
Mrs. Goeman, a homemaker, died on Wednesday, October 23 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
She was born December 6, 1930 in Michigan to the late Helen Schmerling and Charles Drake. She was a member of the Church of Nazarene in Paris.
Survivors include her husband, August Goeman; a daughter, Bonnie Gargus of McKenzie, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Sherry Battalio, also preceded her in death.
Betty Sanders Lutz
1920-2002
HUNTINGDON - Mrs. Betty Sanders Lutz, 82, died on Monday, October 21 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, October 23 at 3:00 p.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Fred Ward officiating. Interment
followed at Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Lutz was born March 4, 1920 in Lake City, Florida to the late Albert D. and Helen Dunbar Sanders. She was a homemaker and a member of the Presbyterian Church. Her husband, Charles E. Lutz, Sr. and a daughter, Linda McMillan, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Charles E. Luz of Huntingdon four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Annie Mae Neely
1924-2002
HOLLOW ROCK - Mrs. Annie Mae Neely, 78, died on Friday, October 25, at the Life Care Center in Bruceton. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, October 28 at 2:00 p.m. in the Mixie Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Kevin Holland and Brother Tony Boyd officiating. Interment
followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Neely was born May 24, 1924 in Springfield to the late John and Bonnie Vogle Smith. She was a retired employee of Henry I. Siegel and a member of the Mixie Missionary Baptist Church. Her husband, Artie Neely, who passed away in 1990 and three children preceded her in death.
Survivors include four daughters, Reathie Adcox of Huntingdon, Ruby Herron of Salem, Alabama, Vicky Hendrix of Darden and Teresa Wood of Lexington; seven sons, Wayne Neely of Ashland City, J.C. Neely of Hollow Rock, Randy Neely of Olmsted, Illinois, Fred Neely of Huntingdon, Roger Neely and Joseph Neely, both of Hollow Rock and Raymond Neely of Carlton, Virginia; 28 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Ghisella "Pat" Julianna Rosser

JACKSON - Services for Ghisella "Pat" Julianna Rosser 86, were at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 26 at Jones cemetery in Wildersville with Dr. George Clark officiating. Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Rosser, a homemaker, died Thursday night, October 24, at Methodist LeBonheur Hospital in Jackson.
She was born November 21, 1915 in West Copely, Pennsylvania to the late Ghisella Somer Keppel and Rudolph Keppel. She was a member of the Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Paley Rosser.
Ernest Stewart

MILAN - Services for Ernest Stewart, 84, were at 1:00 P.M., Monday, October 21 at Hunt Funeral Home in Bradford. Burial followed in Shiloh cemetery.
Mr. Stewart died Friday, October 18 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Stewart of Milan, a daughter, Gloria June Hubble of McKenzie, a son, Freddie Gene Stewart of Milan; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and six great-great-granchildren.
Thelma G. Trentham

GLEASON - Services for Thelma G. Trentham, 82, will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 30 at Williams Funeral Home with burial in Rushing cemetery.
Mrs. Trentham died on Sunday, October 27 at the Weakley County Nursing Home.
She was born June 7, 1920 in Greenfield to the late J.C. Williams and Effie Williams. She was a member of the McKenzie Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Dale Trentham of O'fallon, Missouri and Gary Trentham of Las Vegas, Nevada; one brother, Gordon Williams of McKenzie; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mary Helen Lane

Mrs. Lane was born May 12, 1923 in Lake County, Mississippi to the late Seldon and Lena Wood Welch. She was a retired employee of Publix Shirt Corp. and a member of the First Baptist Church in Huntingdon. Two brothers, Oliver Welch and J.J. "Tom" Welch; four sisters, Arzie Welch Long, Ora Welch Foster, Evelyn Welch Rice and Ruth Welch Faulkner and a great-grandson, David Joshua Lloyd preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Spencer M. Lane; one daughter, Dorothy L. Martin of Huntingdon; one brother, Seldon Welch, Jr. of Counce; four sisters, Ilene Welch Rice of Lexington, Kentucky, Irene Welch Locke of Iuka, Mississippi, Reubena Welch Johnson of Counce and Gwen Welch Turberville of Iuka, Mississippi; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
