Edward G. Ward
McKENZIE - Services for Edward G. "Whale" Ward, 51, were at 3:00 p.m., Friday, January 25 at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie with burial in Mt. Olivet cemetery. Mr. Ward a retired security guard, was DOA at Methodist Hospital on Wednesday, January 23.
He was born June 6, 1950 in Milan. He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in McKenzie.
Survivors include his wife, Zoelanda S. Ward and his mother, Mary G. Ward. His father, Harlon E. Ward and a brother, Richard E. Ward, preceded him in death.

Robert Edward Clement
HUNTINGDON - Mr. Robert Edward Clement, 66, died Sunday, January 27 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be conducted at a later time.
He was born January 27, 1936 in McKenzie to the late Fred Harrison and Linnie Dinkins Clement. He was a retired plumber and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Nadine Clement; one daughter, Donna Eubank of McKenzie; two sisters, Gloria Lott of Bartlett and Betty Elinor of Florida and four grandchildren.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Buddy Gray
HUNTINGDON - Mr. Buddy Gray, 60, died Sunday, January 27 at the Methodist LeBonheur Hospital in Jackson. Graveside services were conducted on Tuesday, January 29 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pucket Methodist Church cemetery in Pucket, Mississippi.
Mr. Gray was born November 5, 1941 in Mississippi to the late Walter Miles and Verda Louise (Grady) Gray. He was a project superintendent for Clark Construction Company and a United States Air Force veteran.
Survivors include his wife Melissa Robinson Gray; one stepdaughter, Jade Robinson and two stepsons, Field Robinson and Preston Robinson, all of Huntingdon.
Chase Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Robert Waylon Segraves
WILDERSVILLE - Services for Robert Waylon Segraves, 22, were at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 27 at Reeds Chapel Funeral Home in Lexington. Burial was in Jones cemetery in Wildersville.
Mr. Segraves died Thursday, January 24 at Methodist Hospital in Lexington.
Survivors include his mother and father, Robbie and Sammy Segraves of Wildersville; a brother, Wade Segraves of Yuma; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Peterson and Mrs. Mildred Segraves, all of Yuma.

Talvin E. Bevill
PARIS - Services were held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 28, at McEvoy Funeral Home for Talvin Edward Bevill. Jerry Drye of Henry Baptist Church, where he attended, officiated the service. Burial was in Hillcrest cemetery.
Bevill, 59, died on Friday, January 25, at his residence of an apparent heart attack.
He was born in Henry County on March 30, 1942 to the late Clarence Odell Beville and Ruth Taylor Bevill. He was married April 1, 1961 to the former Nelda Faye Marrs, who died October 16, 1998.
He was a retired self-employed tool and die maker.
Survivors include three daughters, Donna Bush and Brenda Crouch, both of Paris and Tina Harris of Mansfield; four sisters, Martha Shrader and Patricia Bowers, both of Henry, Sherry Bevill of Paris and Rebecca Mackie of Connecticut; two brothers, Jessie Bevill of Buchanan and Clarence Bevill of Paris; and eight grandchildren.
Three brothers also preceded him in death, James Bevill in 1994, Danny Bevill in 1995 and Bobby Bevill in childhood.

Mattie Lee Wood
CEDAR GROVE - Miss Mattie Lee Wood, 87, died Friday, February 27 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, February 24 in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Marshall Gurley officiating. Interment icon followed in the Pleasant Hill cemetery near Cedar Grove.
Miss Wood, the daughter of the late Vester and Leary Rainey Wood, was born March 2, 1914 in Gibson County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church. Two brothers, Lucian Wood and J. D. Wood preceded her in death.
She is survived by one sister, Lillie Mae Clark of Cedar Grove and several nieces and nephews.

Loyd Thomas Woodard
HUMBOLDT: Mr. Loyd Thomas Woodard, 80, died Friday, February 22 at the Humboldt General Hospital in Humboldt. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, February 25 in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Wayne Burton officiating. Interment icon followed in the Pleasant Hill cemetery.
Mr. Woodard, the son of the late William and Zuelar Walls Woodard was born February 27, 1921 in Carroll County. He was a carpenter, a World War II army veteran and a member of the Humboldt VFW. A son, Lloyd Morris Woodard; a brother, James Wayne Woodard and three sisters, Gladys Pollard, Jewel Carrol and Thelma Hendrix preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mrs. Lillie Mae Forsyth Woodard; one son, James A. Woodard of Bayton Beach, Florida and one sister, Edna Salasky of Chicago,Illinois.

George N. Parker
HENRY - George Norfleet Parker, 84, was dead on arrival Wednesday morning, February 20 at the Henry County Medical emergency room. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 22 at Van Dyke Church of Christ.
Born August 3, 1917 in Tennessee, he was the son of the late Jesse Darden Parker and Odie Dell Reeves Parker. He was married November 8, 1942 to the former Josephine Estelle Mizell, who survives.
Parker retired as a lineworker for Holley Carburetor Plant, formerly of Paris. He was also a retired farmer, World War II army veteran and member of the Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife, survivors include four daughters, Janice Perry and Mary Joe Malone of Paris, and Betty Cate and Joyce Parker of Henry; one son, Elery N. Parker of McKenzie, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Three sisters, Jessie and Lucille Parker and Sarah Graham and six brothers, Johnnie, Elgin, Clyde, Horace, Fred and Robert Parker preceded him in death.

James Leslie McCord
TRENTON: Former Springville resident James Leslie McCord, 84, died of heart failure Tuesday, February 19 at Methodist Hospital in Jackson. Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 21 at Shelton Funeral Home in Trenton. Burial was in the Oakland cemetery in Trenton.
A Williamson County native, he was the son of the late James D. and Nellie Wenby McCord.
McCord was first married to the former Angie Arrington, who preceded him in death. His second wife, Eva Joyce McCord, survives. He was a retired trucker.
Other survivors include five daughters, Marcia Palmer of Springville, Joan Clay of Lavinia, Gail McCord and Tammy Strow, both of Trenton and Debra Bell of Humboldt; one son, David McCord of Trenton; 39 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Gene Paul Arnold
1933-2002
BRUCETON - Services for Gene Paul Arnold, 69, were at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 6 at Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jimmy Allison and Terry Bradshaw officiating. Burial was in Prospect cemetery.
Mr. Arnold, a retired assistant vice-president of Bank of Huntingdon of Bruceton, died on Tuesday, September 3 at the Med in Memphis.
He was born August 7, 1933 to the late Nevil Bowden and Annie Jordan Arnold. He was an army veteran and a member of First Baptist Church in Bruceton.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Marie Petway Arnold; two sons, Mark Arnold and Alan Arnold; a sister, Nellie Jo Butler, all of Bruceton; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Bessie Cooper Baker
1914-2002
MARTIN - Services for Bessie Cooper Baker, 87. were Friday, September 6 at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger B. Oldham officiating. Burial was in East Side cemetery.
Mrs. Baker, widow of Ben Hooper Baker, died Tuesday, September 3 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
She was born December 3, 1914 in the Buena Vista Community in Carroll County. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Martin.
Survivors include a daughter, Jane Powell of Greenfield; three sons, Jon Baker of Memphis, Ben Joe Baker of Florence, Alabama, and Gary Baker of Martin; seven grandchildren and two great-great-granchildren.

Helen Gay Brewer
1923-2002
CAMDEN - Services for Helen Gay Brewer, 78, were at 4;00 p.m., Wednesday, September 4 at Stockdale-Malin Chapel. Burial was in Benton Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Brewer died on Tuesday, September 3 at Camden General Hospital. Her husband, Zenial Brewer and a son, Ronnie Brewer preceded her in death.
She was born November 17, 1923 in Henry County to the late O.C. Sanders and Jewel Crosno Sanders. She was a retired seamstress from HIS and was a member of the Camden Church of Christ.
Survivors include a sister, Anice Reynolds, a brother, Ervin Sanders, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

William Charles Kortvely, Sr.
1922-2002
BRUCETON - Funeral services for William Charles Kortvely, Sr., 79, were at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 7 at the First Baptist Church in Bruceton with the Rev. John Brown officiating. Burial was in Prospect cemetery with Bruceton Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Kortvely died Wednesday, September 4 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville of complications following cardiac arrest.
He was born September 26, 1922 in Allentown, PA. He was the son of the late Joseph and Bertha Kortvely. A daughter, Judith Delores Kortvely; two sisters, Betty Ritter and Margaret Chamegie and two brothers, Joe Kortvely and Louis Kortvely preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Kortvely; two daughters, Karen Morello of Nashville and Joan Walters of Hollow Rock; a son, William Kortvely, Jr. of Bruceton; a brother, Zolton Kortvely of Wescosville, PA; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Kortvely was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bruceton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He retired from TVA after 27 years of service and began an eight-year consulting career working as a project engineer for various nuclear power plants. Following retirement from his second career, Mr. Kortvely worked for F.E.M.A. and also served 11 years for B.V.I. as a volunteer.
He served two terms on the Hollow Rock-Bruceton School Board and was a member of the Elks Lodge in Camden.
