Opal L. Thompson
HUNTINGDON - Mrs. Opal L. Thompson, 94, died Monday, April 8 at the Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, April 11 in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bill Goodpasture and Brother Martin Klamm officiating. Interment icon followed at McAuley cemetery.
Ms. Thompson was born July 11, 1907 in Paris to the late Lee and Lula Parish Taylor. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. Her husband, Ernest F. Thompson, who died in August 1983 and an infant daughter, Mary Louise Thompson, preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Robert L. Thompson and Raymond E. Thompson, both of Huntingdon and Ernest F. Thompson, Jr. of Essex, Missouri; two daughters, Opal L. Moore of Coal City, Illinois and Alice Fay Collier of Plano, Texas and 18 grandchildren.

Lessie E. Duncan
HUNTINGDON - Ms. Lessie E. Duncan, 88, died Tuesday, April 9 at the Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, April 12 in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Lynn Stapleton officiating. Interment icon followed at Hickory Flat cemetery.
Ms. Duncan was born March 28, 1914 to the late Mancy Warren and Martha E. Lindsay Blankenship. She was a retired employee for Thomas Bradford.
Survivors include one son, Harold Rowe of Huntingdon and several nieces and nephews.

Lucretia Marie Merrick
HUNTINGDON - Ms. Jucretia Marie Merrick, 77, died Sunday, April 14 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, April 16 in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Lynn Stapleton officiating. Interment icon followed at New Hope cemetery near Yuma.
Mrs. Merrick was born April 21, 1924 in Carroll County to the late Buford and Lillie Mae Segraves Horn. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church and a retired employee of Henry I. Siegel. Her husband, Leslie Merrick, who died in 1984 and two brothers, J.T. Horn and Max L. Horn also preceded her in death.
Survivors include four sisters, Dorothy Ellis of Clarksburg, Maxine Cary and Lillie Kirby, both of Huntingdon and Christine Jennings of Dallas, Georgia and one brother, Tom Horn of Huntingdon.

Paul Burlison
McKENZIE - Mr. Paul Burlison died Monday night, April 15 at Methodist Hospital in McKenzie. Services were incomplete at press-time.
Brummitt Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

James Robert Barnhart
1940-2002
McKENZIE - Services were at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 14 at Brummitt Funeral Home with Bro. Joe McClure, Jr. officiating. The body was cremated.
Mr. Barnhart, a retired truck driver, died on Friday, July 12 at Methodist LeBonheur Hospital in Jackson.
He was born March 31, 1940 in Hollow Rock to the late Mary Lucille McElroy Barnhart and Gardell Barnhart. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles & Moose Lodge in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Wendy and Larry Spivey of Ypsilanti, Michigan; two sons, Philip Barnhart of Ypsilanti, Michigan and Larry Pierce and his wife Teresa of McKenzie; four brothers, Jesse Barnhart of Wisconsin, Joe Barnhart, Sam Barnhart and Tommy Barnhart, all of McKenzie; a half-brother, Bill McElroy of McKenzie and three grandchildren, Larry Pierce, Jr., Coty Spivey, and Brandon Barnhart.
His wife, Beverly McClure Barnhart, preceded him in death.

Olivia Simpson Bridges
1915-2002
Olivia Simpson Bridges, 86, died Friday, July 12 at the Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, July 14 at 2:00 p.m. at the Concord Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Lynn Stapleton and Brother Rufus Chandler officiating. Interment icon followed at Hampton cemetery.
Mrs. Bridges was born October 15, 1915 in Carroll County to the late Stephen Robert and Pearl Cross Simpson. She was a retired employee for Henry I. Siegel. Her first husband, Onnie Claude Simpson, who passed away in 1940 and her second husband, Raymond Bridges, who passed away April 7, 1992, one sister, Lura McDowell and four brothers, Ebron Simpson, Earnest Simpson, Aaron Simpson and Paul Simpson preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Robert C. Simpson of Santa Ana, California and Audie P. Simpson of Huntingdon; two stepdaughters, Shirley Wyatt and Martha Luther, both of Huntingdon; one sister, Ruth Davis of Huntingdon, eight grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Michael L. Garrett
1964-2002
COTTAGE GROVE: Michael Lynn Garrett, 37, died of cancer on Saturday night, July 6 at the Henry County Medical Center emergency room. Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 9 with burial in Walker cemetery.
Born in Paris on December 1, 1964, he was the son of Betty Guthrie Garrett of Cottage Grove and the late Robert R. Garrett.
He was married May 2, 1994 to the former Judy Smith, who survives.
Garrett was a former truck driver for Hopper Trucking.
Survivors include one stepdaughter, Amy Cooper of Nashville; one stepson, Billy Clayton of Paris; one grandparent, Modell Garrett of Paris; three brothers, Ricky and Leslie Garrett, both of Paris and David Garrett of McKenzie; and one half-sister, Tina Neal of Paris and several nieces and nephews.
A grandfather, Robert C. Garrett and a step-grandchild preceded him in death.

Jack David Humphrey
1943-2002
HUNTINGDON - Mr. Jack David Humphrey, 58, died on Friday, July 12 at his home. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, July 14 at 2:00 p.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bobby Jordan officiating. Interment icon followed at Clark cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Mary Bennett Humphrey and three sisters, Shirley Borchert and Frances Stoneking, both of Camden and Virgie Parker of Fayetteville, West Virginia.

Howard Lee Jones
1931-2002
HUNTINGDON - Mr. Howard Lee Jones, 70, died Wednesday, July 10 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, July 13 at 11:00 a.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Lynn Stapleton officiating. Interment icon followed at Oak Grove cemetery.
Mr. Jones was born August 26, 1931 in Carroll County to the late Op and Nancy Elizabeth Jones. He was a retired employee of Publix Shirt Corp.
Survivors include two daughters, Pam Cox of Jackson and Krystal Cherry of Rockvale; two sisters, Gwendola Harris of Dyersburg and Dorothy Sparks of Camden; one brother, L.D. Bailey of Rochelle, Illinois; and three grandchildren.

Charles Wade "Pete" Patterson
1938-2002
BRUCETON - Services for Charles Wade "Pete" Patterson, 64, were at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 14 at Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel with Norman Hilliard and Rev. Billy Joe Hilliard officiating. Burial was in New Prospect cemetery in Hollow Rock.
Mr. Patterson, a retired truck driver for Melton and Sons of Camden, died Friday, July 12 at Camden General Hospital in Camden.
He was born June 14, 1938 in Sikeston, Missouri. He was an army veteran and a member of the Center Point Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Attie Jo Patterson; his mother, Sylvia Patterson of Camden; a son, Anthony Jerome Patterson of Bruceton; a stepson, Lyn Garton of Bruceton; two sisters, Shirley Ruth Lag and Betty Faye Patterson, both of Camden.

Conny Junior Reed
1932-2002
WESTPORT: Mr. Conny Junior Reed, 69, died Friday, July 12 at his home. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, July 15 at 1:00 p.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Robert Simmons officiating. Interment icon followed at Barr Springs cemetery.
Mr. Reed was born October 30, 1932 in Henderson County to the late Jody and Eular Rummage Reed. He was a heavy equipment operator and a member of Clarksburg Missionary Baptist Church. Two sons, Randy Reed and Greg Reed, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Boyd Reed; one daughter, Charlotte James of Paris; two stepdaughters, Andrea Quinn of Westport and Barbara Stewart of Medina; one stepson, Eugene Boyd of Westport; three sisters, Pauline Belew of Huntingdon, Mable Roark of Nashville and Irene Waugh of Chattanooga; three grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; one great-grandson and five great-step-grandchildren.

Lama Florine "Dup" Smith
1908-2002
HUNTINGDON - Mrs. Lama Florine "Dup" Smith, 93, died Thursday, July 11 at the Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, July 19 at 1:00 p.m. in the Dilday Funeral Home Chapel with interment icon to follow at Sellers Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born December 29, 1908 in Carroll County to the late Henry H. and Lela E. Brandon Springer. She was a special education teacher for 40 years. A son, Dr. Gary G. Smith; three brothers, Reed Springer, Glenn Springer and Hosea Springer and three sisters Eula Smith, Arlie Gooch and Thelma Johnson preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, R. Brent Smith of Palmdale California; three grandsons; one granddaughter, four great-granddaughters, one great-great-granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.

Billy Joe Greenway
1935-2002
TREZEVANT - Services for Billy Joe Greenway, 67, were at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 15 at Bodkin Funeral Home in Milan with burial in Pisgah cemetery in Atwood.
Mr. Greenway, president and CEO of G&C Supply Company, died Friday, July 12 at his residence.
Mr. Greenway was a member of the Trezevant Church of Christ where he served as deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Essary Greenway; two daughters, Gina Burton and Pam Dowdy, both of Trezevant; two sisters, Dale Hedman of Greenbay, Wisconsin and Judy Carver of Roseville, Michigan and four grandchildren.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Trezevant Church of Christ Building Fund.

James Milburn Compton
1919-2002
HUNTINGDON - James Milburn Compton, 83, died Monday, July 15 at Huntingdon Residential Care. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. For more information, call Dilday Funeral Home at 731-986-8281.
