Alvin C. Brown Jr., 52, of Unionville died Wednesday, November 23, 2005, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Mr. Brown was a native of Bedford County. He was a farmer and was an alumnus of Community High School Class of 1972 and an alumnus of Middle Tennessee State University Class of 1977. He raised and trained beagles and was a member of several area beagle clubs and was an avid rabbit hunter and participated regularly in competition hunts. He was selected as the Bedford County Soil Conservation District Farmer of the Year in 2003 and was a diehard Vanderbilt fan. He was a member of the Maxwell Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Mrs. Barbara Blanton Brown of Unionville; daughter Miss Kayla Brown of Unionville; son Carl Brown of Unionville; his parents, A.C. "Pokey" Brown and Ruth Douglas Brown of Unionville; sisters Mrs. Bettye (Eddie) Stacy and Mrs. Barbara (Jim) Newson, both of Unionville; brothers Mike (Linda) Brown of Murfreesboro and Coy (Pamela) Brown and Jay (Rhonda) Brown, both of Unionville; and many nieces and nephews.

George Clifford Beech, age 73, of Shelbyville, died Monday, November 21, 2005, at Alvin C. York Medical Center in Murfreesboro.
He was born July 22, 1932 in Williamson County to the late George Samuel and Lucy Bertha Miller Beech. He was formerly owner of P&M Insulation and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was involved in the nuclear testing at Camp Desert Rock in Nevada. He was preceded in death by a son, Dickie West, and two brothers, Edward "Fuzz" Beech and Larry Beech.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mildred Williams Beech of Shelbyville; daughter Tammie Reeves of Shelbyville; son Charles Ray Crawford of Unionville; brother Joe Beech of Shelbyville; sisters Gayle Helton of Shelbyville and Janice Taylor of Eagleville; grandchildren Richie West, Rachael Brown, Mitch Cartwright, Bud Cartwright and Hunter Crawford; and great-grandchildren Scooter West, Tori West, Andrew West, Logan West, Hannah Brown and Madison Brown.
Mrs. Ella Stem Cook, 101, of the Halls Hill Community of Bedford County, died Sunday, November 13, 2005, in Murfreesboro.
Mrs. Cook was a native of Bedford County and was a daughter of the late Thomas Sanders and Mary Talitha Crick Stem. She was the oldest member of the Kingdom Cumberland Presbyterian Church in the Rover Community. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmon Cooper Cook, who died in 1976; by a daughter, Evelyn Cook Campbell; and by a son, Thomas Jerry Cook.
She is survived by granddaughters Kathy Davis of Mt. Juliet, Denise Harris of Mt. Juliet and Geri Forkum of Lebanon; grandsons John Campbell of Lewisburg, Sam Campbell of Shelbyville and Mark A. Cook of the Halls Hill Community; great-grandchildren Eric Harris, Mary Evelyn Campbell, Andy Davis, Clifford Cook, Lara Davis West, Clay Forkum, Thomas Forkum and Sam Riley Campbell; a great-great-grandson, Zaden West; and several nieces and nephews.

Dorris Charlton Hayes, 76, of Murfreesboro died Wednesday, November 9, 2005, at Bay Medical Center in Panama City, Fla.
A native of Rockvale, Mr. Hayes was the son of the late Robert and Julia Williams Hayes. He was a member of the Concord United Methodist Church and a graduate of Rockvale High School. He was retired from Samsonite and was a custom picture framer. He was a retired chief warrant officer with the Tennessee Army National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Bryson Hayes; sons and daughters-in-law Bobby and Annette Hayes of Honolulu and Barry and Wendy Vassar of Franklin; daughter and son-in-law Janet and Ronnie Funkhouser of Smyrna; brothers William and Marvin Hayes, both of Murfreesboro, and Frank Hayes of Woodbury; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Connie Sue Reynolds, 55, of Hickory, North Carolina, died Thursday, November 3, 2005.
A native of Dayton, Tennessee, Mrs. Reynolds was the daughter of Alice Phillips Motes of Murfreesboro and the late Elmer Emery Motes. She worked for Snyder Parer in Conover, N.C., and was a Baptist.
She is survived by daughters Brandy Reynolds of Hickory, N.C.; sister Alice Christmas of Murfreesboro; brothers Buddy Motes of Ooltewah, Mack Motes of Eagleville, Tom Motes of Spring City and Fred Motes and Jack Motes, both of Murfreesboro; and granddaughter Madison Hollar of Hickory, N.C.

Virginia Hayes, 58, of La Vergne, died Monday, October 31, 2005. She was a devoted wife and mother and member of the Church of God.
A native of Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Calvin and Junella Hann Matney. She is survived by her husband, Steven Hayes; daughters Tina Arriaga of Rockvale, Amanda Wright of Smyrna and Wynette Perkerson of Murfreesboro; sons Ray Johnson and Rocky Hayes, both of Mt. Juliet; sisters Janice Waggoner of Murfreesboro, Loretta Elrod of Smyrna and Cathy Hayes of Smyrna; brothers Joe Matney of Nolensville and Randall Matney of La Vergne; and eight grandchildren.

Jonathon Reed, 18, of Shelbyville died Sunday, October 23, 2005 at his home after a four year battle with cancer. He was a native of Bedford County and was a member of the class of 2006 at Community High School in Unionville. He attended Victory Independent Baptist Church in Shelbyville.
Mr. Reed is survived by his mother Lisa Reed, father Scott Reed, brother Jamie Reed, sister Jennifer Hopper, all of Shelbyville; grandparents Carolyn and Jerry Newsome of Unionville, Sheryl and Johnny Reed of Shelbyville, Sam Jarrell of Unionville; great grandmother Margaret Reed of Shelbyville.

Charlie Edmound McCallum, 82, of Murfreesboro died Friday, October 21, 2005, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. A native of Christiana, Mr. McCallum was the son of the late Charlie and Lizzie Faulk McCallum. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army, and was a retired truck driver.
Mr. McCallum was preceded in death by sisters Mildred McCallum Foster and Sara McCallum Minor and grandson Andrew Tant.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Zumbro McCallum; son and daughter-in-law Larry and Robin McCallum of College Grove; daughter and son-in-law Diane and Michael Tant of Franklin; brother Ronnie McCallum of Christiana; sisters Kate Holden of Christiana and Martha Tygard of Nashville; granddaughters Jennifer (Phil) Covington of Atlanta, Michelle Tant (Wes) Driver of Nashville and Mitzi McCallum of San Diego; grandson Michael E. Buford "Dave" Chrisman, age 88, of Eagleville, died Saturday, December 20, 2008. Preceded in death by parents, Willie and Ruth Wright Chrisman; wives, Mary Susie Anna Chrisman and Ann Ralston Chrisman; and son, Carl Buford Chrisman.

Mildred Farlow Vincion, age 94, of Eagleville, died Tuesday, December 16, 2008. Mrs. Vincion was born in Marshall County and was a daughter of the late Willie Thomas and Ella Mai Cole Farlow. She was retired from Stahl - Ervin Garment Co. of Shelbyville, after 20 years of service and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Rocky Glade Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Eagleville. Mrs. Vincion was very active in the Eagleville Homemakers Club, the Eagleville Senior Citizens and was a board member of the Eagleville Library. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Maynard Vincion who died in 1978; daughter, Mary Louise Vincion; and several brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Vincion is survived by two daughters, Alma (Larry) Hazel of Eagleville and Barbara (Charles) Bowman of Murfreesboro; two sons, Emory Vincion of Shelbyville, L.D. Vincion of Madison; three sisters, Myrtle Ring of Pottsville, Linda Duncan of Lakeland, FL and Delories Sisk of Columbia; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Daisy Halfacre, age 81, of Rockvale, died Tuesday, December 16, 2008. She was born in Cannon County and was the daughter of the late Sam and Bertha Osment Gunter.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Halfacre; daughters, Paulette Garvin of Manchester and Diane Vermillion of Louisville, Ky.; sister, Nornia Willard of Nashville; brother, Sam Bratton Gunter of Shelbyville; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Halfacre was a member of the Baptist church and a retired Nursing Technician with the State of Tennessee.

James Robert Baxter, age 69, of Unionville passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Heritage Medical Center. A native of Rutherford County, he had lived in Bedford County for the past 25 years. He was the owner/operator of Baxter’s Body Shop.
Mr. Baxter was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mattie Robinson Baxter; two sons, Ronnie and Lonnie Baxter; and one brother, Johnny Baxter.
