Benjamin Bennett Caldwell, age 85, of Rockvale died Wednesday, February 13, 2008. A native of Nashville, he was the son of the late David and Eva Rowe Caldwell Sr.
Mr. Caldwell was retired U.S. Air Force Master Sgt., having served during World War II, and a small business owner.
He is survived by his wife, Muriel Lesley Bailey Caldwell; children, Jayne (Tommy) Owens of Pulaski, Gene (Lisa) Caldwell of Murfreesboro, Denniese Burns of Rockvale; brother, David P. Caldwell Jr. of Nashville; daughter-in-law, Amber Caldwell of Christiana; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Private First Class Kristopher Lee Cox, age 22 of Christiana, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2008 in Hawaii. Born at Edwards Air Force Base in California, he was a resident of Christiana and a 2004 graduate of Riverdale High School. While at Riverdale High School he was active with the Riverdale JROTC program his junior and senior year. Private First Class Cox entered in the Marine Corp in 2004, serving two tours, one in Afghanistan in 2005 and Iraq in 2006. He attended Gateway Church of God in Murfreesboro and enjoyed skateboarding and racing.
Private First Class Cox was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim and Joyce Spotts; grandfather, Lawrence Lee Cox; uncle, James V. Spotts; cousin, Cody Cones. He is survived by his fiancé, Ashley Barger of Cypress, CA; mother and stepfather, Tina Spotts Johnson and David of Christiana; father and stepmother, Steven Cox and Jackie of Richmond, IN; brothers, David R. Cox of Murfreesboro and Sean Cox of Richmond, IN; sisters, Stephanie Steele of Christiana and Christina Cox of Richmond, IN; stepbrother, Ross Miller of Alcoa, TN; grandmothers, Annette Spotts of Loveland, OH and Deann Cox of Llano, CA; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Tom Trivitt, age 76, of the Wheel Community of Bedford County, died Sunday, February 3, 2008 in Nashville after an extended illness. A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Mr. Trivitt was a son of the late Tom and Mary Frances Stone Trivitt. He was retired from Faber Castell Corporation and a member of the Baptist Church. Mr. Trivitt served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents, Mr. Trivitt was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Crowell in 1999, two grandchildren, Benjamin Clay Crowell and Robbie Adams, a sister, Verlene Larsen, and a brother, Bobby Trivitt.
Survivors include his wife, Bell Trivitt of the Wheel Community; two daughters, Lori Trivitt of the Wheel Community and Martha White of Eagleville; two sons, William (Jughead) Adams of the Wheel Community and Terry Adams of Unionville; two sisters, Julia Blevins of Branson, MO and Dean Pierce of Las Vegas, Nevada; two brothers, Carroll Trivitt of Springfield, MO and Gerald Trivitt of Nevada.

Beatrice Dickens Williams, a lifelong resident of Bedford County and widow of H. Young Williams, died January 31, 2008.
She was born in 1912, the eldest daughter of Jason Landis and Emma Reid Dickens. The Dickens and Reid families were early settlers in Bedford County. Beatrice Williams, known affectionately as "Miss Bea" began her teaching career as a teenager in a one room school house in Bedford County. She was a 1929 graduate of Community High School in Unionville. She received her B.S. degree at Middle Tennessee State College in 1941. She earned a Masters Degree in education in 1958 from George Peabody College.
Ms. Williams enjoyed a 40 year career as a teacher at Warner Elementary School in Nashville. She held memberships in numerous educational organizations and served as president of Metro Schools Elementary School Association. For many years, she was a member and Sunday School teacher at Rover Baptist Church where she also taught Vacation Bible School. After marrying H. Young Williams, she became an active member of the El Bethel Baptist Church. Preceding her in death, besides her husband and parents, was her sister, Edith Dickens Connelly who died in 2005.
Ms. Williams is survived by a sister, Kayrene Dickens Lawrence, Chapel Hill; two nephews, Philip Jason Bailey, Oxford, MS, and David Bailey, Brentwood.

Alberta Hedge, age 77, of Eagleville died Tuesday, January 29, 2008, in Murfreesboro. Mrs. Hedge was born in Davidson County and was a daughter of the late Percy Warner and Gladys Hampton Ballantine. She, along with her late husband, were the owners and operators of George Hedge Printing Company of Memphis. She was employed as an administrative assistant for Lifetouch Church Directories. Mrs. Hedge was a member of the College Grove Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Franklin Hedge who died in December of 2002.
Mrs. Hedge is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Walter W. and Phyllis Hedge of Pleasant View; and three grandsons, Walter W. Hedge II of Eagleville, Joshua Bryan Hampton Hedge and wife, Debbie, of Shelbyville and Jonathan W. Hedge of Murfreesboro.

Thomas H. Maxwell, age 92, of Unionville died Tuesday, January 29, 2008 in Murfreesboro. Mr. Maxwell was a native of Bedford County and was a son of the late Willie Newton and Edna Lee Sudberry Maxwell. He was a farmer, a retired school bus driver for the Bedford County School System and retired in 1977 from the Bedford County Highway Department. Mr. Maxwell was a member of the Unionville United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Community Lions Club and former member of the Bedford County School Board.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Margaret Maxwell, Unionville; sister, Velma Cooper Cartwright, Shelbyville; niece, Drusilla (Jeff) Shires, Unionville; four nephews, William Clarence (Ann) Cooper, Unionville, Larry (Sue) Smith, Tony Ray Smith and Randy Joe Smith, all of the Longview Community of Bedford County; ten great nieces and nephews; several great-great nieces and nephews.

Dale Sanders of Unionville died Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Bedford County Medical Center. A native of Bedford County, Mr. Sanders was a son of the late James Frank and Tiny Claxton Sanders. He was a retired truck driver. In addition to his parents, Mr. Sanders was preceded in death by a brother, Milton Sanders.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Duke Sanders of Unionville; 4 sons, Tommy Dale Sanders of the Wheel community, James Richard Sanders of Murfreesboro, Joseph Edward Sanders of the Rover community and Donan Lamb of Fairview; 2 sisters, Pauline Woodson of Shelbyville and Annie T. Harris of the Flat Creek community of Bedford County; devoted friend Ricky Hargrove; 13 grandchildren.

Tim Weatherford, 33, of Rockvale, passed away Friday, January 25, 2008 at Stonecrest Medical Center. He was born in Cook County, Illinois to the late James Thomas and Mildred Alice Griffin Weatherford. Tim was a truck driver with Averitt Express, coached the Rockvale Ruritan Club from 2004-2007 and a very avid Chicago sports fan.
Tim is survived by his wife, Vicki Weatherford; son, Steven Weatherford, both of Rockvale; sister, Shannon (David) Watson of Shelbyville; brothers, Randy Weatherford (Patty) of Murfreesboro and Jay (Donna) Weatherford of Chicago; mother in law, Kathy Graboski of PA; nieces and nephews, Trisha, Megan, Amber, Justin, Forrest, Amber Lynn, Noah and JJ.

Glenda Mankin Barton, 66, of Unionville passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2008, at her residence due to ovarian cancer. She was born in Cannon County to Sam Blanks and Dewey Nella King Gaither. Mrs. Barton was retired as a program assistant with Farm Service Agency in Shelbyville and a member of the New Zion Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her father, Sam Blanks Gaither; husbands, Grover "Bud" Mankin Jr. and Howard H. Barton; and son, John Phillip Mankin.
She is survived by her mother, Dewey Gaither of Midland; daughters, Teresa (Randy) Jolly of Murfreesboro and Rhonda Campbell of Midland; son, Roger Mankin of Gulf Port, MS; grandchildren, Quentin Campbell, Eric Campbell and Whitney Jolly Sparkman; great-grandchild, Alexa Sparkman; step-children, Penny Hart, Tammy Comstock and Bonny Barton; three step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and brothers, Harold (Eloise) Gaither of Midland, Gerald Gaither of Bartlett, Ricky (Kathy) Gaither of Hilton Head, SC, and Tommy (Kim) Gaither of Murfreesboro.

Candis Daisy Anderson, age 70, of College Grove died January 21, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband, parents and three sisters.
She leaves sweet memories to four daughters, Della Anderson, Marilyn Anderson, both of Nashville, Regina Thompson of Chapel Hill and Angila Anderson of Smyrna; four sons, Herbert Anderson, Odie Anderson, both of Nashville, Frank Anderson of College Grove and Rodney Anderson of Murfreesboro; three brothers, Charles Floyd of Ardmore, Ala., Thomas Floyd of Hermitage and James Floyd of Fairview; 13 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Hazel Sudberry Yarbrough, age 86, of Shelbyville, formerly of the Rover Community, died Friday morning, January 18, 2008 in Shelbyville. Mrs. Yarbrough was a native of Bedford County and was a daughter of the late Clarence and Sadie Ruth Sudberry. She was a homemaker and was retired from Durango Boot Company in Chapel Hill. She was a member of the Rover Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Clay Yarbrough who died in 1995 and by a son, Thomas Clay Yarbrough who died in 2002.
Mrs. Yarbrough is survived by four daughters, Peggy Youngblood of Shelbyville, Ann Heflin of Shelbyville, Cheryl Neill of Trophy Club, TX, Vicki Lambert of Shelbyville; two sons, Jim Yarbrough of Shelbyville, Randy Yarbrough of Rover Community; three sisters, Mildred Baxter of Shelbyville, Jane Jackson of Eagleville, Linda Wilson of Shelbyville; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren.

Gerald Ray Hilton, age 58, of Rockvale passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2008, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. A native of Louisville, KY, he had lived in Rutherford County for the past 17 years. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served in the Vietnam Era. Mr. Hilton was preceded in death by his mother, Dortha M. Alcorn Hilton; two brothers and a sister.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene Ray Hubbard Hilton of Rockvale; daughters, Teresa (Jason) Strength, Amanda Hilton, Wendy Hilton, Ashley Hilton, Lauren Hilton and Emily Hilton, all of Murfreesboro; brother, Marvin (Vicki) Hilton Jr of Hartsburg, IL; sisters, Sue (Bob) McKinney of Springfield, IL, and Janice (Tom) Herman of Spaulding, IL; and two grandchildren.
