John Wesley Nance, 82, of Rockvale, died Wednesday, October 12, 2005, at his home. A native of Rockvale, he was the son of the late H.J. "Cap" and Evie Joe Christopher Nance.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Riggs Nance; daughters Joy Nance Noack of Atlanta, Mary Lou Nance deMille of Rockvale, and Karen Nance Randle of Rockvale; three grandchildren, Shannon Killingbeck, Erin Foil and Emily Little; and five great-grandchildren, Sutherlan Killingbeck, Christian Killingbeck, Ethan Killingbeck, Kaitlhyn Foil and Patrick Foil.
Mr. Nance was a member of the Rockvale Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in WWII. He was a Mason, and a retired employee of the Federal Aviation Administration. He was the assistant chief of the Atlanta International Airport Tower and retired tower chief of the Knoxville Airport. He was also the co-aothor of "The History of Versailles."

Sarah Louise Hopkins Russell, 90, of Smyrna, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2005, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. A native of Rutherford County, she was a homemaker and a member of Leanna Church of Christ.
Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her parents, Hollis and Vergie Hopkins; her husband, William Henry Thomas Russell; and a daughter, Carolyn Sue Russell. She is survived by daughters Georgia Mai (Johnny) Harrell and Linda (Thomas) Johnson, both of the Leanna Community, Betty Demoville of Rockvale and Frances (Jerry) Robertson of Smyrna; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.

Robert Lee Woodson, 40, of Smyrna, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2005, at his residence. A native of Shelbyville, he had lived in Rutherford County for the past eight years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and attended Stones River Church of Christ.
Mr. Woodson is survived by his wife Charlotte Warren Woodson of Smyrna, his parents Terry and Patricia White of Unionville; son Robert Lee Woodson, Jr.; daughter Abigail Woodson of Smyrna; brother Jerry Woodson of Michigan; sisters Shelia White of Chattanooga and Barbara Mooningham of Shelbyville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mark and Vickie Warren of Smyrna; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.

C. B. Delffs, 82, of the Triune community died Thursday, September 29, 2005 in Franklin. Mr. Delffs was a native of Bedford County and a son of the late Joe V. and Lillian Damron Delffs. He was a retired farmer and retired from the Rutherford County Co-op. Mr. Delffs attended Triune Baptist Church.
He is survived by wife Jean Bell Delffs of the Triune community; daughters Sandra Gentry of Shelbyville, Dianne Sandlin of Smyrna; brother Franklin Delffs; 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Walter Denton Douglas, 80, of Unionville died Thursday, August 18, 2005, at his home. Mr. Douglas was a native of Bedford County and was retired from Durango Boot Company of Chapel Hill after 25 years of service and was also a small-engine repairman. He was a member of Zions Hill United Methodist Church. Mr. Douglas was preceded in death by a son, Don "Weasel" Douglas, and a sister, Shirley Leathers.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Douglas of Unionville; daughters, Dyann Miller of Shelbyville and Janice McCormick of Unionville; sons, Rev. Ellis "Jack" Douglas and Phillip Douglas, both of Unionville, and Terry Douglas of Rockvale; sisters Lorene Malone of California, Virginia Haskins and Ruth Brown, both of Unionville, and Nadine Tucker of Shelbyville; brother Milton Douglas of Murfreesboro; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Jacqueline Elaine Kittrell Maxwell, 77, wife of John Marion Maxwell (deceased), formerly of Rockvale, died August 16, 2005. Jacqueline was born in Cope, S.C. She attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where she was a founding member of the Channing Society and worked for the university extension service doing rural surveys. Moving frequently with her husband, John, and daughter, Judith Marie, she eventually became a feature reporter for the Burlington Hawk-eye in Burlington, Iowa. Upon retiring from the Hawk-eye, she continued to be involved with her communities. John and Jacqueline returned to Middle Tennessee in the early 1980s. Jacqueline became active in the Rutherford County Family, Community and Education Club, where she served a term as president. Upon the death of John Marion, Jacqueline joined her daughter in New Orleans. There she read widely and entertained cohorts of anthropology and linguistics graduate students. Mother to only one, she was "adopted" by many and was an inspiration to all who knew her. She is survived by her brother William Kittrell, of Hartwell, Ga., and her daughter, Judith, of New Orleans, La.

Shirley Leathers, 66, of Murfreesboro died Friday, August 12, 2005.
A native of Bedford County, she was the daughter of the late Evan and Chattie Leverette Douglas. She was a member of the Rockvale First Independent Baptist Church and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie George Leathers.
Survivors include sons Larry Leathers of Rockvale and Jeffrey Leathers of Smyrna; daughters Pamela Neal and Shelia A. King, both of Smyrna, and Jennifer Smith of Kentucky; brothers Walter Douglas of Halls Mill and Milton Douglas of Murfreesboro; sisters Lorene Malone of California, Virginia Haskins of Unionville, Ruth Brown of Longview and Nadine Tucker of Shelbyville; grandchildren Melissa Murphy, William Neal, Patrick Leathers, George King, Jessica King, Tabitha Leathers, David Leathers, Joshua Smith and Garrett Smith; and great-grandchild Jennifer Murphy.

Mary Jewell Rigsby, 79, of Eagleville, died Monday, August 8, 2005 at her home. She was a native of Caldwell County, Kentucky, and was a daughter of the late Ernest and Montie Ladd Jewell. She was a homemaker and a member of the Eagleville Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a grandson: Mark Rigsby.
She is survived by her husband Jesse Clayburn Rigsby Sr., of Eagleville; daughter and son-in-law Karen and Butch Wabby, of Franklin; sons and daughters-in-law Jesse Clayburn and Betty Rigsby Jr. and Steve and Cathy Rigsby, all of Eagleville; brother Malcolm Jewell, of Princeton, Ky.; three grandchildren: Cindy Henson, of Chapel Hill, Jesse Z. Jesse Robert Morton, 22, of Smyrna, died Tuesday August 9, 2005 from injuries received in an auto accident.
A native of Nashville, he was survived by parents Robert (Bobby) and Carrie Toombs Morton, of Murfreesboro; sister Kelly Renee Davis, of Murfreesboro; grandparents Robert and Shirley Morton, of Murfreesboro, and Alene Toombs, of the Almaville community.
He was a graduate of Eagleville High School, attended Fellowship Baptist Church and an employee of Tennessee Farmers Cooperative of La Vergne.
Anner Vera Leathers Lamb, 75, of Shelbyville, died Monday, August 8, 2005 at Skyline Medical in Nashville. She was a native of Rutherford County, a homemaker and a member of the Eastview Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late Willie and Anner Randolph Leathers and the wife of the late Howard Burnice Lamb, who died in 2003.
She is survived by a daughter: Kay Lamb Kelly, of Bowling Green. Ky.; son Howard Burnice Lamb, of Shelbyville; two sisters: Evie Bryant, of Longview, Margaret Roberson, of Murfreesboro; two brothers: Ronnie and Jesse Leathers, of Rockvale; three grandchildren: Jason Randolph Vincent, Jonathan Ramsey Vincent and Jessica Alyse Lamb; one great-grandchild: Jarrett Ramsey Vincent.
Leslie F. Woodson Sr., 81, of Eagleville, died Monday, August 8, 2005 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.
A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Jimmy and Louise Farris Woodson.
He is survived by wife Katherine Clark Woodson; sons Buddy (Belinda) Woodson, of Eagleville, and Charlie (Kathy) Woodson, of Rockvale; sisters Emma Gloria Ralston, of Rockvale, Leila Lynch and Sis McKnight, both of Murfreesboro; three grandchildren: Daniel, Robbie and Megan Woodson.
Mr. Woodson was a member of the Presbyterian Church, a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, and he fought in five major battles, including the Battle of the Bulge.
He retired as shop foreman of the Rutherford County Highway Department. He was a founding member of the Tennessee Valley Pioneers Power Association and was the first inductee into its Hall of Fame.
