Tennessee, U.S., Delayed Birth Records, 1869-1909
Roy Lee Lamb, age 73 of Murfreesboro, left this life with short notice, but by no means without a good fight on November 12, 2010. He was a native of Rockvale and hung his 'hat' in Readyville for the past 24 years.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Inez Lamb.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Donna Lamb; his daughter, Cindy Lamb; son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Gay Lamb; three grandchildren, Josie Lee Fitzgerald, Tanner Lee Lamb and Andrea (David) McDuffie; three great-gradchildren, Ethan, Amaris and Josiah McDuffie. He is also survived by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles William and Jo Lamb, Howard and Marie Lamb of Gladeville, Earl and Faye Lamb; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Christine and the late Beacham Bowman, Frances and Ronnie Conner of Adolphus, KY, and many nieces and nephews who were entertained with his love and laughter for many years. Last, but by no means least, he will be missed by his beloved dog and companion, Gracie.
Roy retired from Lewis Bros. Bakery where he was a transport driver for 44 years. He was an avid Trail rider and dedicated to his coon hounds and his beagle dogs. He loved farming and the outdoors. Roy left a legacy of smiles, laughs, and a love of a good time for all family and friends who shared in his gift. He will be missed by his family, his horse, and all who had the opportunity to share in his humor and love.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Survived by daughter, Deborah T. Easley; son, Jimmie Green (Wanda) Thompson, Jr. and other relatives.

J. Wilburn Moorehead, age 77, of Chapel Hill, died Thursday, November 4, 2010. He was born in Lincoln County on November 7, 1932 to the late Walter Dow and Lucille Tielkin Moorehead. A brother, Kenneth Crabtree also preceded him in death.
Mr. Moorehead was a much adored husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather. He owned and operated Moorehead's Foodland for 33 years and served in the Chapel Hill Lions Club for 48 years. He was a former board member at First State Bank and a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church for 48 years.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Grace M. Moorehead of Chapel Hill; son, Mike (Nancy) Moorehead of Chapel Hill; daughter Bandi Brown of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Ben Brown, Matt Moorehead, Blaire Brown and Will Moorehead; Charles (Bubba) Brown, father of Ben and Blaire; a sister, Virginia Leonard of Lewisburg; brother, Jeffie (Jane) Moorehead of Chapel Hill; numerous nieces and nephews.

Debra Rosiu, age 51 of Rockvale, died November 3, 2010 at home. She was a native of York, NE and was preceded in death by her father, Jack Anstine and nephew, Trevor Cooper.
Mrs. Rosiu was a member of Rockvale Church of God and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Nick Rosiu; children, Daniel VanEkelenburg and wife Christa, all of Rockvale, Jennifer Lynn Reynolds and husband Luke of Eagleville, Jacob VanEkelenburg of Murfreesboro; mother, Sherry Anstine of Missouri; brother, Michael Anstine of Colorado; sisters, Desirae Norton of Missouri, Jennifer Swanson of Kansas, Barbara Moore of Nebraska, and Kathy Cooper of Rockvale; six grandchildren, Tristan, Bevin, Caspain, Dax, William and Waylin.

Jesse C. Tate Jr., age 77, of Murfreesboro, died Saturday, October 23, 2010 at his home. He was born in Cornersville, TN in 1933 and was a son of the late Jesse C. and Eunice Haney Tate. Mr.Tate was a member of the Eagleville United Methodist Church, a retired commercial building superintendent, a past President of the Eagleville Lions Club, a 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of the the Shriners, as well as serving on Eagleville's City Council for 8 years. He also served in the U.S. Air Force working as a Weight and Balance Technician on airplanes. Jesse lived in Eagleville for 47 years but recently moved to Murfreesboro, for health reasons. He will be missed by many friends in both communities. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Nellie Jean Morris Tate of Murfreesboro; a son, Jimmy (Linda) Skinner of Eagleville; a granddaughter, Michelle (Darrell) Huffman of Eagleville; two great grandchildren, Tate and Mahaley Huffman; a brother, Geroge L.(Katherine) Tate of Hixon; and a sister, Christine Tate Rowden of Mt. Juliet.

Helen Isley Sanders, age 82, of Chapel Hill, died Sunday evening, October 17, 2010 in Lewisburg. Mrs. Sanders was born in Marshall County and was a daughter of the late Jeff and Carrie Haskins Isley. She was a member of the Chapel Hill Church of Christ and was a homemaker and retired beautician. Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Haggard Sanders, who died in 1984, and by a daughter, Nancy Jo Cole, who died in 2001.
Mrs. Sanders is survived by a daughter, Mary Evelyn Walling of Nashville; three sisters, Margaret Neill of Lewisburg, Carolyn Curtis of Lewisburg, Gayle Crick White of Culleoka; two grandchildren, Tanya Cole Hopper of Shelbyville, Meredith Cole Wallace of Lewisburg; four great grandchildren, Whitney, Wyatt, Olivia and Hannah; nine nieces and nephews.

John Paul Tingler, age 54, of Chapel Hill, died Friday, October 15, 2010 in Nashville. Mr. Tingler was born in Fairfax, Virginia and was formerly employed with Cosmolab, Inc. of Lewisburg. He was a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church.
Mr. Tingler was preceded in death by his father, Paul Junior Tingler who died in 1986.
Mr. Tingler is survived by his mother, Mary Lou Tingler of Chapel Hill; sister, Pat (Mike) Counts of Murfreesboro; nephew, Chris (Brooke) Counts of Lexington, KY; great niece, Lauren Counts of Lexington, KY; aunt, Joyce Cummings of Spencer; uncle, Earl Harris of Murfreesboro; several cousins.

Lillian Miles Register, age 78, of Rockvale, died Wednesday, October 13, 2010. She was a native of Columbus, GA and the daughter of the late Alvin E. and Dora Lee Thaxton Miles. She was a member of the Church of God.
She is survived by her husband, Allen Wade Register; sons, Allen Eugene (Twyla) Register of Portland, Donald Wayne Register of Manchester, James Larry Register of Rockvale and Robert Warren Register of Rockvale; daughters, Debra Lynn Register of Murfreesboro, Lillian Denise Register of Manchester; brother, James R. Miles of AL; sisters, Helen Jean Rewine of Columbus, GA and Dora Janelle Strickland of Aurora, CO; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren.

Mai Howell Reid, age 82, of Niceville, Florida, formerly of Unionville, passed away on a beautiful Friday morning, October 8, 2010, finally leaving this earth to be with the Lord. She was born in Smithville, TN and lived a full and quiet life of devotion to her family as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Her devotion to her Christian faith is an inspiration to her family. Her love of flowers, music, art, sewing and education is her legacy to her descendants.
Mai is survived by the loves of her life, Gerald, husband of 61 years, Niceville, FL; daughters, Susan Johansen and husband Paul, Mary Esther, FL, Gloria Hall and husband Doug, Niceville, FL, Margaret Palmer and husband, Larry, Snellville, GA, Melinda Spearman and husband Michael, Hammond, LA; brother, Prentice Howell, MI; sister, Irene Johnson, TX; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many loving extended family members.

Betty Jo Leverette, age 71, of Unionville, died Tuesday, October 12, 2010 in Shelbyville. Mrs. Leverette was born in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late George William and Ella Frances Maupin Hargrove. She was a member of Eagleville Baptist Church and faithfully attended Rays Chapel United Methodist Church. Mrs. Leverette was a homemaker and during her working career, was employed with Jensen's Inc., Durango Boot Company, Eaton Corp. and retired from American Can Company of Shelbyville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Johnnie Myrtle Underwood.
Mrs. Leverette is survived by her husband, F.R. (Roosevelt) Leverette of Unionville; two daughters, Trisha Follis of Shelbyville, Brenda Kimmins of Longview Comm.; three grandchildren, Lacie Follis Yeckel of Shelbyville, Will and Emily Kimmins of Longview Comm.; sister, Linda Blackwell of Lewisburg; brothers, Albert Hargrove of Antioch, Jimmy David Hargrove of Summertown, Don Hargrove of Shelbyville, Jerry Hargrove of Murfreesboro.

Alma Vaughan Steagall, age 93 of Rockvale, died Monday, October 4, 2010.
Alma was born January 22, 1917 to Talmage Vaughan and Laura Bell Thomas Vaughan of Snail Shell Cave Road in Rockvale.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Ella Vaughan Clark and husband Herman of Eagleville; children, Helan Fernandez of Rockvale, Dick Steagall and wife Debbie of Rockvale, Beverly Burgess and husband Billy of Murfreesboro, and Sandra James and husband Joe of Rockvale; a cousin, Howard Thomas of Murfreesboro.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Thomas R. Stegall, and a son-in-law, Mauricio Fernandez. Mama was born in Rutherford County, but loved to talk about when she lived in Allisona in Williamson County. Her parents moved there when she was young to work the farm for Mr. Ussery. She had fond memories of going to school at College Grove, and the people that lived there. Her parents later moved back to Rockvale and she attended Rockvale School, where she met Thomas Steagall. They married on December 4, 1933 in Squire Hicks office on West Main Street in Murfreesboro. She wrote that she "had many things to learn about cooking, housekeeping, and being a wife and mother, but she kept learning by trying." They purchased a farm on Windrow Road, where they lived for some 70 years. Mama always had chickens, loved to work in the yard and garden, and enjoyed cooking. Her chocolate pie with meringue was a church favorite. During her youth, she attended Windrow Methodist Church, and later was a member of Rockvale Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by grandchildren, Tom Fernandez, David Fernandez, Richard Fernandez, all of Rockvale, Kelly Fernandez of Fayetteville, Mark Steagall, Tina Steagall, Tom Steagall, Earl Steagall and Ryan Steagall, all of Rockvale, Laura Burgess of Rutherfordton, NC, Beth Burgess Brown of Murfreesboro, Gina Burgess of Costa Rica, Marcy Burgess Beavers of Lascassas, Joe James III of Sharon, TN and Tyler James of Rockvale; great-grandchildren, Ashley Fernandez, Anita Fernandez, Brittany Fernandez, Seth Fernandez, Micah Fernandez, Jonah Fernandez, Hannah Steagall, Dawson Steagall, Taylore Steagall, Olivia Steagall, Jack Steagall, Sara Burgess, Courtney Brown, Will Brown, Patrick Beavers, Kevin Beavers and Cory McKenzie; great-great-grandchildren, Daven Fernandez, Caden Steagall, Cody McKenzie and Heath McKenzie.
The family would like to thank Linda Adams, Tina Steagall, Ann Walls, Margaret Smotherman, Home Health Care of Middle TN, and Adams Place for their love and care.
