Sam J. Weaver, age 87, of Christiana passed away on May 10, 2009 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. Mr. Weaver was a native of Clay County, but lived most of his life in Rutherford County. He was a sailor, farmer and barber. He owned and operated Weaver s Barber Shop at 107 East Vine Street for more than 40 years. He was a member of the Concord United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in World War II, and he served in the Pacific on the U.S.S. Monongahela from 1943 to 1945.
Mr. Weaver was preceded in death by his parents, William Ratford and Rose Jones Weaver; his first wife, Clara Brown Weaver; three sisters, Daffo Bailey, Willowdean "Bill" Livesay; Mocell Weaver; and two brothers, Jim and Frank (Hatchett) Weaver.
He is survived by his wife, Clara White Weaver; two sons, George (Bill) Weaver of Murfreesboro and Sam J. Weaver, Jr. of Rockvale; one daughter, Lela Turner of Rockvale; six grandchildren, Chris, Mike, Benjamin, Matthew and Ray Weaver and Brandy Weaver Meeks; and six great-grandchildren, Taylor, Kolin, Owen and Dyllan Meeks, James William Weaver and Brooklyn Whittington.

Shirley Marie Warnack Neal, age 68, of Murfreesboro died Sunday, May 10, 2009. A native of Nashville, she was the daughter of the late Harry Ernest and Ella Parker Warnack.
She is survived by a daughter, Tina Parker of Rockvale and her fiancé Larry; son Chris (Ren) Neal of Christiana; sister Blanche Hix of Rockvale; grandchildren Angelia Goins, Adam Parker, Joshua Neal, Anthony McClananhan and Sherry Mankin; and six great grandchildren. She was a member of Bellwood Church of Christ.

John Milton Kimmins, age 94, of the Longview Community of Bedford County, died Saturday, May 2, 2009. Mr. Kimmins was a native of Bedford County and was a son of the late Joel Williams and Sarah Agatha Garrett Kimmins. He served in the United States Army Air Corps. and was a life long farmer.
Mr. Kimmins is survived by his wife, Kathryn Crick Kimmins; daughter, Sally Kimmins Seivers; son, Joel Kimmins; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, all of the Longview Community.

Willie Richard Mickells, Jr., age 30, of Eagleville, died Thursday, April 30, 2009 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Mr. Mickells was born in Bedford County and was preceded in death by his mother and father, Jimmie Lou Lynch Mickells and Willie Richard Mickells, Sr. He was a horse trainer and farrier and was employed with John Puckett Stables of Shelbyville. Mr. Mickells was a member of the Community Ministry Church in Chapel Hill.
He is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Lynn Mickells and Morgan Elizabeth Mickells, both of Rockvale; three sisters, Agnes Lepley of Eagleville, Ann Sissom of Unionville, Pat Bledsoe of Murfreesboro; one brother, Jim Mickells of Tullahoma.

Josh Clayton "Jack" Pinkston, age 82, of Murfreesboro died Wednesday, April 29, 2009. He was a native of Bedford County and the son of the late Layman and Mattie McCullough Pinkston.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Peggy Pinkston of Murfreesboro; brother, Sam Pinkston of Rockvale; sister, Katherine Harris of Bell Buckle; grandchildren, Keith, Dennis (Anita), and Jim Pinkston, all of Murfreesboro, Daniel Pinkston of Smyrna and Michele (Walter) Hammond of Gibson, TN; and great grandchildren, Maegan, Brittney, Alli, Isabella and Mary Beth Pinkston, Breanna Smith, and Emily and Samuel Hammond.
Mr. Pinkston was a member of Concord United Methodist Church, a retired carpenter, and worked at Holden Hardware for many years.

Stella Louise Pugh, age 64, of the Rover Community of Bedford County, died Monday, April 6, 2009 in Murfreesboro. Mrs. Pugh was a native of Cannon County, and was a daughter of the late James Dalton and Roberta Phillips Bucey. She was a homemaker, a retired machine operator and a member of the Baptist church.
Mrs. Pugh is survived by her husband, John W. Pugh of the Rover Community; daughter, Lesa L. Green of Smyrna; two sons, Steve (Sherry) Mankin of Murfreesboro and Kenneth W. Mankin of the Rover Community; two sisters, Linda Stem and Laura Lambert, both of Murfreesboro; two brothers, Jerry Bucey and Grady Bucey, both of Murfreesboro; two grandchildren, Lance Zachary Mankin and Jessica Lynn Mankin.

Leslie Rue Carpenter, 83, of Rockvale, passed away April 1, 2009. Preceded in death by his parents Frank DeForest and Maudie Lee Carpenter; twin brother Dwight and sister Evelyn; sons Alan and James Carpenter. Survived by his beloved wife of 37 years Sherry Ann Vieson Carpenter; sons Michael, Timothy, Ronald, William and Joseph; daughters Brenda and Sandra; 18 grandchildren and 20 plus great grandchildren.
Les was a World War II veteran and member of Eagleville Baptist Church.
Memorial services wiill be held April 25th at 11:00 am at Eagleville Baptist Church.
Donations can be made to the family to cover medical expenses in lieu of flowers.

April Newkirk, age 38 of Unionville, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
April was born in Valparaiso, Indiana and resided in Unionville. She worked as a RPSGT for The Sleep Centers of Middle TN and attended World Outreach Church.
April is preceded in death by her grandfather, Thomas M. Riegle. She is survived by her parents, Dan and Carol Newkirk of Valparaiso, IN; brother, Owen (Tinker) Newkirk of Valparaiso, IN; sister, Becky (Jeff) Thornton of Nunley, TN; nieces, Chelsea Newkirk and Gabrielle Thornton; nephews, Alexander Thornton and Wilson McRay Thornton; grandparents, Ray and Jewel Newkirk and Ruth Riegle all of Valparaiso, IN.

Margaret Lucille Helton Sandlin of Murfreesboro, died Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, E.C. and Hassie Mai Helton; husband, Fred H. Sandlin; brothers, E.C. Helton, J.R. "Jack" and James Helton; and sisters, Inez Bryant, Kathleen Helton, Helen Christopher and Betty Lou Dickerson.
Mrs. Sandlin is survived by her son, Robert M. Sandlin; daughter, Betty Lee; grandchildren, Robert K. Sandlin, Kimberly Atwood, Trey Lee, Lana McClaran, and Lance Lee; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Margaret was a native of Rutherford County in the (old) Barfield Community. She graduated from Rockvale High School. Margaret and Fred lived a traveling military lifestyle then retired to Middle Tennessee.

Maye Bennett Taylor, age 97, a lifelong resident of Eagleville, died Monday, March 23, 2009 at her home in Eagleville surrounded by her family. She was a daughter of the late Stephen E. (Shack) and Bitha Ellie White Bennett. Mrs. Taylor graduated from Eagleville High School in 1930 and was captain and center for that year’s basketball team. She was a homemaker and enjoyed writing poems and having them printed in the Eagleville Times once a month. Mrs. Taylor was the oldest member of the Mt. Vernon Cumberland Presbyterian Church. As a member, she served as teacher, pianist, and during her nineties, enjoyed singing duets with her lifelong friend, Louise Bennett. They practiced their special music over the telephone. Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Fred Nance Taylor, who died in 1997; a brother, Richard Owen (Dick) Bennett; sisters, Ellie Bennett and Myrtle Bennett; and nephew, William E. Bennett.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Ellen (Spencer) Loyd and Bithie Sue (William) King, both of Eagleville; one sister, Louise Bennett Scott of Eagleville; five grandchildren, Michael Taylor (Jeanna) Loyd, Eagleville, now serving in Iraq, Mendell Bennett Loyd of Eagleville, LaNae King Turner of College Grove, Dwight (Julie) King of Eagleville, Tabitha King (Tim) Persch of Colorado; ten great grandchildren, Michael Taylor (Starla) Loyd Jr. of Murfreesboro, Jessica Loyd Taylor of Murfreesboro, Katarina Loyd (Craig) McPherson of Wyoming, Aliyah Loyd of Chapel Hill, Zachery and Braiden King of Eagleville, Campbell and Mitchell Turner of Chapel Hill, Rafferty (Rafe) and Avery Wren Persch of Colorado; two step-great grandchildren, Trevor and Taylor, Goodson of Eagleville; three great-great grandchildren, Malachi and Mary Grace Taylor of Murfreesboro, Layla Maye McPherson of Wyoming; one step great-great grandchild, Jacob Bolin of Murfreesboro; two nieces, Ellie Wilkinson of Eagleville and Norma Johnsey-Jackson; one nephew, Rex Bennett of Texas.

Kenneth Wayne Snell, age 63, of Murfreesboro, died Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Vanderbilt Hospital. He was a native of Rutherford County and was the son of the late Joe and Louise Hall Snell.
He is survived by his wife, Twila Jackson Snell; son, Ken Snell Jr. of Murfreesboro; daughter, Lorie Burkhalter and her husband, Jake Burkhalter of Murfreesboro; brother Billy Joe Snell and his wife, Janis of Eagleville; three grandchildren, Luke Burkhalter, Sara Burkhalter and Joe Snell.
Mr. Snell attended Martin Junior College from 1963 to 1965. He was the first athlete at Martin Junior College who lettered in three sports in the same year, basketball, baseball and golf. He graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 1968 and was a teacher at Eagleville High School from 1969 to 1972. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the YMCA Night Law School in 1974, now known as the Nashville School of Law. He opened his law practice in 1975 and was President of Stones River Motors since 1977. He was on the Board of Directors of the National Kidney Foundation of Middle Tennessee from 1991-1997, and he received the Cecil G. Gilliam Award for Volunteerism in 1975. He was elected to the Rutherford County "Old Timers" Baseball Hall of Fame and was elected to Martin Methodist Athletic Hall of Fame in 2003. Woodfin Memorial Chapel

Yvonne Edna (Nichols) Erle, age 86, of Rockvale, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2009 at her residence. She attended Rockvale Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Erle was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Daisy Nichols and husband, I.J. (Mack) Erle. She is survived by her daughter, Patty (Danny) Finley of Rockvale; son, Cpt. Tom Erle of Monticella, FL; grandchildren, Jeffry and Gretchen Erle, Megan Finley; great-grandchildren, Roos Finley and Devon Grace Erle.

Martha Gail Enfinger Fallin, age 72, of Thomasville, GA, formerly of Rockvale, died Monday, March 9, 2009, at Archbold Hospital. She was a daughter of the late John Earl Enfinger and Hettie B. Powers. On Dec. 19, 1953, in Boston, GA, she married Amos Richard Fallin who survives. She was a homemaker and a member of the Sunshine Ladies Sunday School Class. Other survivors include sons, Richard Fallin Jr. (Brenda) of Thomasville, GA, Dwayne M. Fallin (Lynn) of Coolidge, GA and Jonathan R. Fallin of Meigs, GA; daughters, Linda Fallin Maxwell (Daniel) of Tallahassee, FL, Eileen Fallin Parker (Kenny) of Sylvester, GA, Margaret Fallin Hobbs (Tim) of Thomasville, GA, Michele Fallin Barrett (Jeff), of Pavo, GA and Lisa Fallin Anker (Scott) of Nolensville; 23 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister; Mary Ann Cooper (Wendell) of Pavo, GA. She was preceded in death by brothers, Hurley and Henry Enfinger.
