Tennessee, U.S., Delayed Birth Records, 1869-1909
J. T. Harris Sr., 87, of the Blackman community died Monday, April 30, 2007, at Vanderbilt Hospital from complications after a heart procedure. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chris Eva McClaran and Childress Theophilus Harris; a brother Thomas Harris; and his beloved wife of 63 years, Wynell Belew Harris.
He was a longtime resident of the Blackman community. After he and Wynell were married in 1938, a resident of that community was told to have said they rode into Blackman on a bicycle. J.T. was age 18 and Wynell 15, just two kids. Later, they bought the Blackman Grocery Store business, owning and operating that business for more than 20 years.
He was a member of the Murfreesboro Kiwanis and Sportsman Clubs. J. T. was a farmer most of his life and later served a six-year term on the Rutherford County School Board. He was employed by the Middle Tennessee State University Police Department later and retired from the Middle Tennessee State University Film Library.
Survivors include son, Jimmy (Peggy) Harris of Murfreesboro, and daughter, Annelle (Ralph) Smith, with whom he lived in the Blackman community; grandsons, Gregory Keith Smith (Lisa S.) of Blackman community and Jason Harris Smith (Michelle) of Chattanooga; granddaughter Ginna Marie (Bruce) Watson of Rockvale; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. Surviving sisters are Marcella (Norm) Farmer of Murfreesboro, Kitty (Randall) Wood of Almaville; brothers Philip (Edna) Harris and Harold (Aline) Harris, both of Nashville.

Carl Phillip Clement Sr., age 64, of Arrington died Friday April 27, 2007. A native of Benton County, he was the son of the late Carnell and Pauline Throgmorton Clement. Mr. Clement was a member of Triune United Methodist Church, a U.S. Air Force veteran and a retired pipe fitter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Faye Bentley Clement, and by a sister, Patricia Hollingsworth.
He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Carl Phillip and Martha Clement Jr. of Arrington, and Paul David and Robin Clement of La Vergne; daughter Lisa C. Davis of Smyrna; grandchildren Hunter and Hannah Davis, Christopher and Cheyenne Clement.

Alfred J. "Tots" Clark, age 84, passed away Monday, April 23, 2007, at his residence in Rockvale. A World War II veteran, Alfred worked as a tobacco and dairy farmer on his farm in Rockvale.
He was preceded in death by his father, William J. Clark, and mother, V. T. Taylor Clark; and brother Charlie Clark.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Sue Vaughn Clark of Rockvale; daughter Wanda (Lee Don) Kelton of Rockvale; son Willie (Patricia) Clark of Rockvale; three sisters Myrtle Chick of Nolensville, Gladys Rowland of Eagleville and Betty Alderdice of Lewisburg; two brothers Fay Clark of Rockvale and Eugene Clark of Lewisburg; four grandchildren Angie King, Amy Simpson, Jennifer Braswell, all of Murfreesboro, and Greg Clark of Rockvale; and six great-grandchildren Daniel King, Kara King, Lane Simpson, Lydia Braswell, Robbie Stewart and Sissy Stewart.

Richard T. Romans, age 86, of Rockvale passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at his residence. A native of Alabama, he lived in Rutherford County most of his life. He was a retired mechanic with Detroit Diesel and a retired farmer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II and a member of the Midland Baptist Church.
Mr. Romans was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Etta Speegle Romans, who passed away in June of 2006; his parents, John and Lula Matlock Romans; daughter-in-law Mary Ann Romans; brothers William, Charlie, John H. and Fred Lee Romans; sisters Belle, Louise and Martha. Survivors include sons Thomas (Joyce) Romans, Ronnie Romans, Robert (Melody) Romans and Gary (Barbara) Romans, all of Murfreesboro, and Willard (Faye) Romans of Midland; daughter Shirley (Leonard) Brown of Murray, Ky.; brother James Edward Romans of Russellville, Ala. and sisters Ruby Stephens of Rockvale, Blanche McCrary of Town Creek, Ala., Modine Garrison and Flora Martin of Rockford, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Clyde Deuel, age 64 of Eagleville, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2007 at the Middle Tennessee Medical Center. Born in East Greenbush, New York he was the son of the late George Sr. and Mary Deuel. He married Lorraine Camuso on January 9, 1966. He worked as a farmer. Mr. Deuel was preceded by his parents; daughter, Rebecca Deuel; brothers, George Deuel, Jr. and Carl K. Deuel; and sister, Francis I. Mahoney.
Mr. Deuel is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lorraine Deuel of Eagleville; sons, Michael Deuel of San Antonio, TX, David Deuel of Murfreesboro; daughters, Christine Deuel and Lori Ann Deuel, both of Unionville; sisters, Doris Lucas of Rensselaer, NY, Irma W. Sheets of Nassau, NY, and Linda M. Dobert of Nassau, NY; grandchildren, Sarah Burger, Autumn Tucker, Ashley Barlie, Philip Barlie and Brittany Deuel.

Zelma Lee Creswell White, age 90, of the Flat Creek Community of College Grove, departed this life on Monday, March 26, 2007 at her home following an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late Samuel D. and Morton McElhaney Creswell. She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Melvin B. White, and by two brothers Tyler B. Creswell and Talmadge Creswell.
Survivors include two daughters, Harriette Jane (Harvey) Isom and Faye Eudailey, both of College Grove; a son, Tony (Diane) White of College Grove, four grandchildren, Brent (Jamie) Isom, Amy Isom (Tim) Ham, Jason (Melissa) Eudailey, Jennifer (Andy) Miller; five great grandchildren, Clay and Jacob Isom, Tanner Ham, Judson and Foster Eudailey.
Mrs. White was a member of the Allisona Church of Christ and a life long member of the Flat Creek Community Club. She, along with her husband, were past owners and operators of White Dairy Supply of College Grove for 40 years.

Elizabeth Padilla, age 82 of College Grove died Thursday, March 22, 2007. She is preceded in death by son, Frank Padilla. Mrs. Padilla was a member of the College Grove Methodist Church, Groovy Grovettes of the College Grove Red Hat Society, and the College Grove Senior Citizens.
She is survived by husband, Rufe Padilla of College Grove; son Wesley Padilla of College Grove; daughters, Betty (Johnny) Mayes of Columbia, Karen (Jeff) Haynes of Nashville, Kathy (Jim) Van Horn of Lewisburg.

Charles Patterson "Tiny" Cantrell, III, age 48, of Smyrna died Wednesday, March 21, 2007. He is preceded in death by brother James Cantrell, sister Pamela G. Cantrell and father Charles Patterson Cantrell II.
He is survived by his wife, "Renuka" Sheila Patel Cantrell of Antioch; stepchildren Mital Patel and Gaurang Patel, both of New Jersey; sisters Jennifer (Harry) Magarity of Smyrna and Nancy Cantrell of Chapel Hill; brother Phillip Cantrell of Eagleville; and his mother, Anna Cantrell of Eagleville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Randi Collins Wallace, age 85, of Murfreesboro died Sunday, March 18, 2007 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. A native of Kildeer, North Dakota, she was the daughter of the late Zebulon Harvey Barnes Collins and Raghnild Anderson Collins. She was a retired editorial secretary with The Upper Room in Nashville. Mrs. Wallace was a former member of Triune United Methodist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Judith W. Bruce of Clarksville, Janice Sledge of College Grove, Bonita Alley of Clarksville, Joe Ann Wallace of the Rover community of Bedford County; two sons, Dale A. Wallace (Kim) of Triune, and Bruce G. Wallace (Vicky) of the Rover community; her former husband, Joe Webb Wallace of Triune; 21 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren.

Melvin B. White, age 91, of the Flat Creek community of College Grove, departed from this life on March 16, 2007 at Baptist Hospital in Nashville following an extended illness. He was the son of the late Wiley B. White and Cora Reed White. He was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin R. White.
Survived by his wife of 73 years, Zelma Lee Creswell White; two daughters, Harriette Jane (Harvey) Isom and Faye Eudailey, both of College Grove; a son, Tony (Diane) White of College Grove, four grandchildren, Brent (Jamie) Isom, Amy Isom (Tim) Ham, Jason (Melissa) Eudailey, Jennifer (Andy) Miller; five great grandchildren, Clay and Jacob Isom, Tanner Ham, Judson and Foster Eudailey.
Mr. White served as an elder of the Allisona Church of Christ and was past owner and operator of Whites’s Dairy Supply for 40 years. He served 9 years on the Board of Directors of Williamson Medical Center, helped organize the Williamson Co-op serving as Vice-President, served on the Board of Directors of the Bank of College Grove for 33 years, was a life member of and served on the Board of Directors of David Lipscomb University and was a member of the American Dairy Association.

Frances Gee Parker Waller, age 89, of Brentwood. passed away March 12, 2007 at Centennial Medical Center. Born April 23, 1917 in Rutherford County to the late O.L. & Sue Rieves Gee. She was a member of Nolensville Church of Christ. Preceded in death by husbands, Frank Parker, & Frank Waller; brothers, Lucas & Jim Gee; sisters, Alma Gee, Maude Reeves. Survived by step daughter, Dorothy (Dan) Jones, Brentwood; sister, Ola Boone, Noblesville, Indiana; sister-in-law, Elma Ruth Gee, Centerline, MI; granddaughter, Stacy (Clint) Butterworth; great granddaughter, Shelby Stapleton; nieces, Becky Choate, Patricia Gillette, Vicki Copeland; nephews, Bobby & Dwight Gee, Brian Boone.

William Hargrove, Sr., age 85, of the Rover community of Bedford County died Sunday, March 11, 2007 after an extended illness. Mr. Hargrove was a native of Maury County and was a son of the late Jones and Annie Perry Hargrove. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army. Mr. Hargrove was a retired bulldozer operator and farmer and was a member of the Rover Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lyla Gentry Hargrove of the Rover community; three daughters, Peggy Doyle of Yuma, Arizona, Helen Hargrove of Nashville, Barbara Prince of the Rover community; son, William Hargrove, Jr. of Unionville; brother, T.J. Hargrove of Russellville, Kentucky; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.
