WHITTEMORE, David Lynn, age 50 of Manchester, TN died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2005 at Stones River Hospital. He was born in Paris, IL and worked at International Paper. Mr. Whittemore was preceded in death by his parents, the late Eldred and Louise Whittemore and Chuck Tischer and a brother, Ronnie Whittemore. He is survived by two daughters, Anita Gifford and Sherry and Jeff Frame, all of Winchester; three grandchildren, Amber Leigh Whittemore, Jerrikka Gifford and Jadon Frame, all of Winchester; four brothers, James, Johnny (Wandy) of Woodbury, Eddie of Morrison, Charles Tischer of St. Louis and Robert (Tammie) Tischer; and a sister-in-law, Jan Whittemore of Woodbury. HARPER, Linda Lee Shetters, age 55 of Winchester, passed away Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005 at Southern Tennessee Medical Center. Linda was the previous owner of Country Haven Assisted Living in Cowan and has been a member of the Cross Roads Church of God for six years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lois Shetters; a brother, Johnny Shetters; and a sister, Sandra Gail Stevens. Linda is survived by her husband of 38 years, Jerry Ray Harper; a daughter, Candice Gail (Steve) Garrett of Cowan; two sons, Terry Ray (Pam) Harper and Kevin Lee (Amy) Harper of Cowan; a sister, Martha (Jimmy) Sherrill of Decherd; four brothers, William Henry (Jean) Shetters of Estill Springs, Donald Edward (Annie) Shetters of Winchester, Fred (Karen) Shetters of Decherd and Albert (Betty) Shetters of Cowan; five grandchildren, Christopher Harper, Joshlyn Binkley, Haley Harper, Kamron Harper and Sloan Garrett. WOOTEN, Odessa, age 76 of Cowan, passed away Monday, Dec. 19, 2005 at Emerald-Hodgson Hospital in Sewanee. Mrs. Wooten was a member of Beans Creek Baptist Church and she worked for the City of Cowan at City Hall. She was a very devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her husband, Harvey Wooten, her parents, Ben and Tiny Tate and several brothers and sisters, preceded Mrs. Wooten in death. ENGLAND, Johnnie Campbell, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005 at Bedford County Nursing Home after an extended illness. Mrs. England was a native of Huntland, the daughter of the late Mary Cassie and Albert Campbell and the wife of Carl England who died in 1985. One of 12 children, including a twin sister, she was a favorite aunt of numerous nieces and nephews. She was a retired nurse, Girl Scout leader, community volunteer, and was a member of the Mt. Carmel Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She enjoyed square dancing, horseback riding and entertaining. During World War II, she was employed at Camp Forrest in Tullahoma. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Hershel (Karen) Thrasher of Shelbyville and Mrs. Steve (Jeanie) Selig of Laconia, NH; a son, John England of Huntland; two brothers, Ellis Campbell of Talladega, AL and Norris Campbell of Belvidere; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. REED, Robert Thomas, Sr., beloved husband, father, brother and friend, died Feb. 4, 2006 at his home in Virginia Beach, VA. He was born on April 27, 1956, in Landstuhl, Germany, the son of the late Thomas F. Reed, III and Lenora I. Brown. He was a 1974 graduate of Franklin County High School. Mr. Reed is survived by his wife of 25 years, Lolita "Merly" Betache; his four children, Robert T. Reed, Jr., Lenora Reed, Conrada Reed of Virginia Beach and Margie Morgan of Chattanooga; five grandchildren, Elisa, Aurelia, Caleb, Catelynn and Calli; two sisters, Robin Pitsenbarger of Pensacola, Fla. and Rhonda Gomez of Dallas, N.C.; stepfather, Fred Brown of Tenn.; three nieces; and four nephews. Mr. Reed proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 21 years, retiring as a MMCM (SW). His sea duty included serving on board the following ships: USS Barbey, USS Samuel Gompers, USS Sterrett, USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, USS Harry E. Yarnell and the USS Wisconsin. Master Chief Reed’s awards and commendations include the Navy Commendation Award, the Navy Achievement Award, Good Conduct Award, National Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation and numerous Sea Service Ribbons and Campaign Awards. He also served in the Persian Gulf War. Other achievements include being a Merchant Marine of the Sea Raven, a small business owner, a licensed graphologist, transcriber of Latin documents, a genealogist and a martial artist. He was also a member of the St. Louis Genealogical Society and the International Traders. A memorial service was held on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006 at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home in Virginia. He will have a traditional Naval burial at sea.
CASHION, Lela Mae, age 83 of Lynchburg died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006 at her residence. She was born on March 25, 1922 in Moore County, TN, the daughter of Mattie (Durm) Edde and James Edde, Sr. Mrs. Cashion was a homemaker and was a member of the Lynchburg Church of Christ and was an active participant at the Lynchburg Ladies Handiwork Shop. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Ray Cashion, a brother, Jim Ed Edde and two sisters, Kathleen Walker and Betty Jo Moore. She was a retired teacher who taught Senior English at Tullahoma High School. Mrs. King was a member of the Winchester First United Methodist Church. MOSLEY, Walter, age 101 of Winchester, Tenn. died Monday, April 17, 2006 at Sunbridge Care for Winchester. He was born in Cowan, Tenn. and was a Mechanic. He was trained by his father, Benjamin Franklin Mosley as a blacksmith. He stopped the "ringing of the anvil" in 1921 when he shoed his last horse. He then switched to being an auto mechanic. During World War II, he worked at Camp Forrest as a mechanic. He and his partner, Pete Crownover, worked in Decherd in the auto mechanic business and as school bus drivers. Mr. Mosley was preceded in death by a son, Norman (Dippy) Moseley, three brothers, Arthur Moseley, Huleron (Buck) Mosley and Claude Mosley and sisters, Annie Mae Partin, Pearl Payne, Jean Weaver and Ester Mosley. Mr. Mosley is survived by a son, Lanny Moseley of Winchester; grandsons John of Boca Raton, Fla. and James of Alpharetta, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn of Alpharetta, Ga. and Austin of Boca Raton, Fla.; two nephews, Arthur Moseley, Jr. of Winchester and Harold Partin of Tullahoma; and five nieces, Ruby Marchant of Savannah, Ga., Mildred Sons of Blue Island, Ill., Dot Syler of Tullahoma, Louise Wilder of Winchester and Jeanie Moseley of Mariden, Ct.
